Unfortunately peace is not going to fall on us like rain.
Wouldn't that be wonderful?!?
We have to actually seek peace and pursue it.

Self-acceptance can somehow seem selfish. That's why I talk about working on self-acceptance in relation to how it helps us to accept others. The way we treat ourselves directly reflects the way we treat others!

🎶My purpose is an unfolding scroll
So fill with patience oh my soul
🎶My way is sure with measured beat
Purpose grows stronger in the heat
🎶Fulfillment comes with steady gain
Worth the investment and the pain
🎶With awesome work and friendships dear
Comes triumph over trials and fear
🎶Harvest comes from soil prepared
Through early years of purpose dared
I chose this specifically for this morning because I'm really struggling with wanting everything to happen right away, or, because I'm not in a certain place that I see someone else has already arrived at, then that means I’m failing or behind.
So, that phrase, my purpose is an unfolding scroll really speaks to me today!
Our voices are the most powerful things for us to hear. We really, truly listened to ourselves. If you’d like to work directly with me in one to one sessions to uncover your powerful voice, visit aprilsingsalot.com

For the Facing of this Hour
I just want to express, the importance of making sure you take time for your own health, even when you're in the middle of a handling a crisis situation.
It does feel like you just need to drop everything and not think about yourself at all and just go, go, go and give, give, give but self care is so important!
So in the middle of whatever chaos or crazies life throws at you, take time for exercise, take time for silence. Those are all important so that you can physically and mentally be in a good space to handle whatever is coming next.
Our voices are the most powerful things for us to hear. We really, truly listened to ourselves. If you’d like to work directly with me in one to one sessions to uncover your powerful voice, visit aprilsingsalot.com
We all can benefit from having powerful tools in our toolbox to pull out when we are super stressed. The more we have to help ourselves the better off we're all going to be!

Experience has told us that gradual change is the way to have lasting change.
When we accept where we are and who we are right now, that's our foundation for moving forward and improving. It's coming from a place of already loving and accepting ourselves where we are, and then loving and accepting the next level as well.
If you’d like to work directly with me in one to one sessions to release something specific, visit aprilsingsalot.com
🎶Grant me wisdom, grant me courage, for the facing of this hour.
I especially am drawn to the lyric “the facing of this hour” - not this whole year, or even this day, but just this hour. It feels way more approachable doesn’t it? I find comfort in that.

We start this episode by naming things that we don't want to carry into this next season.
But it’s also important to accept where you are first.
“When I get to this point, then I'll be happy.”
“When I reached this goal, I'll be happy.”
When what we need is to learn to be happy where we are!

I create singalong style meditations that address the underlying struggles that are causing stress in our lives over and over again, so that we can be free to live in abundance and light.
Honestly, I have found this practice to be something that allows me to stand up straighter, to smile brighter and to accept others and myself in a more loving way.
I have said before, and I'll say again, that the more we love and accept ourselves, then the more loving and accepting we can be to other people.

I struggle with holding everything that I want super duper tight and being really tense and stressed about things going exactly the way I need them to go.
That's not healthy and it's something that I work on on a regular basis!

🎶Even in the chaos, I can find the calm.
🎶There is room to grow, when I’m feeling low.
Those phrases can help to calm us down when we get to a place of overwhelm.
Your voice is very important for you to hear! Singing is really your most powerful instrument of healing and tapping is a wonderful way to accelerate that healing and releasing process. There's really not a way to screw this up, and so much potential for positive change!

What do you think of when you hear that?
For me, it feels like a clenched fist. An “ideal” or “perfect” scenario that has to happen exactly as I planned.
When I think about letting go, I'm thinking how can I release?
How can I hold this expectation of how I would really like for this to happen, but also stay open to other ways that things could work out?
What is that “clenched fist” for you?

Before new things can come into our lives, we've got to shed some of the things that are taking up space or holding us back.
And that's not easy! There are things that we really enjoy, really love, and that we don't want to let go of!
Singalong Switch helps us to clear out old energy so we are ready to welcome in new opportunities!

Is beating yourself up ok? I would say "No" but my actions betray me...
Maybe we all have that closet or junk room that we've decided needs to be "worked on" before it gets to be loved and accepted.
Here's our challenge: Deeply and completely love and accept yourself right now, where you are, however much junk is in that room!
When we are more kind and gentle to ourselves, we pass that along to others as well.

How would you describe this year so far?

What have you been told about your voice? I’ve been working with one on one clients this week, here are some of the stories I’ve heard just in the last day ~
“Someone told me I was tone deaf in 8th grade and I haven’t sung in public since.”
“My ex-boyfriend said my singing was annoying so I’m too embarrassed to sing in front of people.”
“I would sing for you but no-one wants to hear that!”
So many people have stopped using their voices, and it’s such a powerful aspect of who we are!
This is not about winning a talent show, joining a choir, or singing karaoke…it’s about owning your voice and the power YOU have.
Your voice is so important for you to hear!
What have you been told about your voice?
Has it made you stop singing?

Finding your voice will help you gain a deeper connection with yourself. Here’s what people are saying after a single session:
“I had no idea how much I was held up in this. What a huge identity shift!”
“Who knew in 45 minutes how much could really change? I can’t believe how differently I feel about my voice already!”
“I was harboring these stories about my voice for so long, it was causing true pain.”

Your Voice Is:

I've been holding back on talking about self-confidence because my self-doubt was telling me that I wasn't good enough, didn't have enough degrees, and there wasn't enough evidence to offer Singalong Switch to help people (despite 100s of positive comments and reviews).
Ironic, I know.
So I used my own technique on myself over the last week, and here it is....the very first Singalong Switch experience on Improving Self-Confidence! 7 days of intensive singing and tapping meditations to banish self-doubt, cancel criticism, and improve insecurity.
When our self-confidence improves we are more able to stand up and speak out for ourselves and others. My promise to you is that I will donate a portion of the proceeds from this program to organizations who help abused women and children around the world.

If you are able to have lengthy quiet time and devotions, great. If you are in need of something quick and simple to switch yourself out of a funky place, Singalong Switch might be just the thing for you!

Since this is Holy week, I'm going to sing some of the lyrics from the hymn "It is well with my soul"
I am going to sing each phrase twice so that you can sing along, and the whole time I'll be tapping, which is a pattern interrupter and a proven way of lowering stress.
I'll go through the tapping points:
I start in between my eyebrows, the side of my eye, under my eye, under my nose, under my mouth, under my collarbone, right in the middle of my rib cage and then on top of my head.
There's no way to screw this up, so if you feel like one or more of the points is just too uncomfortable to get to you and you just aren't feeling it today, that's fine.
It's totally up to you, what you are comfortable with doing. This is something that is helpful and if you feel comfortable doing it, I think you will benefit.
I don't know if the same is true for you, but my calendar for the month of April is super full of things. And after a year of really not a lot to do, it gives me some anxiety to look at that! That's why I'm sharing Singalong Switch...it will bring your anxiety down and help you handle the chaos to come!

If you are thinking (like me) that all of these wonderful concepts seem like great ideas in theory, but impossible in practice, this scripture is for all of us!
“We have no chance at all If we think we can pull it off ourselves, but every chance in the world if we trust God to do it.”

There is a tendency to think that God is on one side or another...
I don't believe God is on a side.
I believe God wants us to see that we are all one.
We are all in this together.
And the sooner we can see that and work together toward a solution, the better off we will be.

We all want to get our own way.
It's a natural tendency, just hang out with a toddler!
The problem starts when we de-personalize those we perceive as standing in the way.
Turning it into an "Us versus Them" situation.
What if we're all on the same side?

If we treat ourselves well, then we are more likely to treat others as well. The angry behavior we have towards others is really reflective of how angry we are with ourselves. And so when we can forgive ourselves, we are more likely to forgive others.

Once we feel fully accepted as WE are, then we can more easily accept others as THEY are. It starts with how we feel about ourselves. And when we are more accepting of ourselves, then we are more accepting of others.

Different translations of the Bible can be really helpful to hear scripture in a way that makes it easier to apply to your daily life.
Here are some of my favorites!
One of the things that I'm passionate about is advocating for musicians, myself included, to be paid well for our service.
I thought there would come a time when people would no longer expect that I would do things for free.
And then I heard about a Grammy award winning artist being asked to perform for free.
And now I have something to say!
There are a lot of discussions around whether or not we should encourage people to sing in group settings.
I've had opportunities to sing in several different churches recently and I have been really impressed with the ways that we can still participate together, even if we're not singing together.
I am happiest on the days that I can be both a musician AND a mom.
But being a mom is so all consuming that it's easy to get absorbed in THAT and stop making time for music.
What happens next is usually not a pretty picture...here's a peek at what happens.
**Recording these podcasts have been a lifesaver for me, particularly when I hear that these messages are inspirational, and that the music and messages have been helpful. Thank you so much for listening and for encouraging me along the way!
I must confess that I have dropped out of many Bible studies, because other people would read passages in the Bible and then come to the discussion with all kinds of deep insights that I just did NOT understand.
And I would feel SO lost and convinced that other people are just way deeper than I am.
This podcast describes what I've found helps me apply the Bible to my daily life.
(And I've since joined a small group in my church...much less pressure to be "deep" and more along the lines of a support group for life!)
I went straight from college to boot camp, an extreme change, then on to "A" school, which was yet another new reality.
It's similar to what we're all experiencing right now, where our reality from six months ago was ripped away, we went into something extremely restricted, and now it's like sort of normal, but not.
Here's what helped me in that situation...
I joined the military and left for bootcamp within 7 days, completely clueless about what to expect.
With funny stories about everything from stenciling underwear to shooting a gun, this is a candid account of my experience.
Looking back, it was a true blessing to not know what I was getting into because it helped me to just take things as they came.
And I believe taking things as they come can be key to survival in our regular life too.

Right now it seems that every situation is heightened in intensity because we're a little on edge and people are wearing masks so you can't really see expressions as much as you usually do, and then if people aren't wearing masks or aren't wearing them properly then that can make people even more nervous, and so just more than ever let us walk in peace.
