Neither of the nominees showed they have a legitimate claim to be president of the United States based on this performance.
President Biden was over-briefed, throwing statistics and numbers that missed the mark. Combine that with a terrible opening, and Joe Biden did not earn a 2nd term here.
Trump degenerated into such a multitude of lies that one could not keep up with them.
Is the most patriotic thing Biden could do is bow out?
Polls first things are showing that Trump performed better but this could be mostly because of how poor Biden’s performance was, not that Trump performed well. This was not a debate, this was a debacle.

Yesterday former President Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts. We’re not legal experts but we want to share some thoughts on what it means for the race and the court of public opinion.
In the short term, whenever there have been legal controversies, Trump has been able to project a sense of being a victim and that has helped him. We also know that voters have told us that if he were convicted of a crime – there are many who have said they would be less likely to support Trump in the race. But timing is everything. Right up until the moment of the verdict we see the polling converging. Given where the polls stand, we do have a potential for a lead switch, with Trump losing support among some independents.
We’ll look at this event through the lens of polling as well as psychology. A lot has to do with how Trump will respond in the coming weeks. When we look at the all important battleground states that will decide the election, Trump still leads.

But there are also people who are less committed to a candidate but also who are less committed to voting at all. This year, we’re going to suggest that it’s much more volatile than usual, and it’s these voters that could decide the outcome.
So what’s likely to happen? Are voters just fatigued already by the constant messaging and negativity in the news and online? How will that affect turnout? What’s the role that AI may still play in this election cycle?

Today let’s talk about the Electoral College – it seems like every 4 years we have the same debate about the usefulness or legitimacy of its existence. It was founded around the idea that there would in some ways get a final check against the ‘mob’ when it comes to the presidential election. It also ensured that tiny states like Rhode Island would still have a say in the outcome of the election.
Electors cast their vote on behalf of the state, and the candidate with the most votes from the individual states would win the election. So we have the scenario where a candidate can win the popular vote, but still lose an election, and in 2024 there exists the possibility of an incredibly messy outcome which could be thrown to the House of Representatives.

This week – the cover of Time Magazine has Biden on a bicycle with the word Stuck on it. So today let’s talk about the state of the race. In many of the latest polls, Biden is within a percentage point of Trump – so it’s within the margin of error, with Biden building a lead with Independent voters, and a huge fundraising lead.
We also know that a considerable amount of funds raised by Trump and affiliated PACs have been going to pay legal fees. So is this momentum for Biden due to the intense hatred of Trump by many voters, rather than a desire for a 2nd Biden term? In the midst of huge fundraisers by both candidates, Biden faces a number of major challenges including the Maryland bridge collapse and a deteriorating situation in Gaza.
Finally, in Alabama there was a huge upset in the special election 62% to 38% with a campaign based on state court’s stand on IVF and abortion access. This still is a very powerful issue for Democrats. Does this tell us anything about

Current polls show Trump with a giant lead, but Nikki Haley is seeing some momentum.
So, what are some of the scenarios that can play out, and what are the likelihood of each?
We also have some new polling data on Biden Vs. Trump, and it’s an incredibly tight race. On a national average, Biden now has a slight edge but it’s tenuous at best. These polling numbers fluctuate but we’ll get into the cross party vote and how that can affect the state of the race.

In some of our own recent polling, we found that 70% agreed that BOTH parties are guilty of scapegoating the opposition. We’ll give some new data and a breakdown of this sentiment. Should this give us reason to hope?

Next, we’ll look at the data around the American Dream and how what defines the American dream has changed. It’s a question of seeking inner peace vs traditional material and social notions of success.

First, is DeSantis making a comeback? And are Republicans check-mated on the abortion issue? Suburban women who have been voting Republican in recent elections may be abandoning the party in large part due to this issue. So could a savvy Republican tone down the rhetoric on this heated issue?
Next, Xometry is a company that helps the manufacturing and supply chain world run more efficiently and they are looking to understand the pulse of American manufacturing.
So what are some of the latest findings? We’re partnered with Xometry and Forbes to find out.
We spoke to 150 Manufacturing Executives (Presidents, CEOs, COOs) nationally.
Key takeaways:
Manufacturers are optimistic but also are preparing for other potential supply chain shock by overstocking, and 82% are embracing re-shoring of some of their facilities to the U.S.
More than half of our sample say they are investing on AI technologies and many have already seen a return on investment.
When you ask about the likelihood of recession this year though, over half believe one is very or somewhat likely.
Many of the respondents (33%-40%) also were conducting business with Silicon Valley Bank which recently collapsed, but that they feel well positioned to survive and even thrive despite the recent economic headwinds. A majority of them believe the future looks bright.

Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene sent out a provocative tweet declaring there is no longer national unity and advocating for a national divorce. In our own poling almost 40% expressed some favorability towards nullification or succession. Should this be given more serious attention? Have we reached a point of no return in our national interests and community?
Additionally – Biden’s approval rating is also floating around 47% on average, and yet there is a Rasmussen poll that has Nikki Haley leading Biden in a matchup 45% to 41%. What gives? How does Biden’s approval rating affect the news cycle and the tenor of national conversation? How does it change as poll numbers change? What does the polling say about the country’s enthusiasm for another Presidential run?

So in this era of super-high inflation, what does food insecurity look like and how many of our neighbors are food insecure?
Next let’s talk about one of the hottest and most important Senate races in the country which is in Pennsylvania. What makes this race a bit more unique is that we have activity in both parties. We’ll talk about the current state of the race and some of the stark differences between candidates in both parties.

Is there anything the administration can do to bring people together or is it an impossible task?

President Biden’s approval rating is now in the low 40s or high 30s depending on the poll. This begs the question Washington loves to ask – “How bleak are the Democrats’ prospects for the November elections?”
If we take a look at Biden, with the exception of Trump, his polls are the lowest numbers since polls have been taken. Can he bounce back?
Inflation, among other challenges is dragging him down but this is the biggest challenge Biden faces at the moment and many Americans now view inflation, not COVID19 as their most pressing concern.
Further, the two major pieces of legislation that the Democrats have been pushing hard (Build Back Better and legislation around voting rights) do not at the moment have a path to becoming law.
However, the Republicans still have to contend with the very real shadow of Trump and calculate if being against Biden without much in the way of policy is enough to win their races.
Right now the Democrats are still in charge and they have the burden of proof as to what they have done for the average voter lately.
We’ll also debate the laws in many states that are being passed which seem to make voting just a bit harder. Is this voter suppression?

Launched in October 2020, the fund is constructed to do as much advocacy around conservative while still maximizing shareholder value.
We’ll talk about balancing advocacy and economic incentives, starting a new kind of fund, and how they determine which kinds of companies are deemed to align with their values.

There’s lots going on this week, not the least of which is the turmoil in Kazakstan – but we’re watching national events closely as well. We’ve just crossed the anniversary of the January 6th insurrection marked by a speech by President Biden.
Did Biden do anything to regain control of this national community? We’ll look at the historical parallels between how Clinton restored the potency of the presidency in 1995 in the face of a dominant republican legislature. Were there any signals of any differences between how he conducted his presidency in 2021 and the tone of how he aims to conduct his presidency in 2022?
There is also the backdrop of the voting rights legislation and this speech may have been an effort to shore up his base as this battle heats up.
If we look at 2022 we’ll also talk about the changing role of Executive Orders over time and the public’s support or resistance to them as well as of our existing Constitutional Amendments.
Finally – in our recent poll we asked the public “Should the Constitution be interpreted strictly to ensure checks and balances are maintained or loosely to expand the federal government’s role in solving problems.” 60% vs 21% sided with the strict interpretation of the law. What are the implications of this sentiment on the national conversation?

Today we’ll be talking about the prospects for Democrats and Republicans as we roll into the next election year.
Our poll numbers show President Biden at a 46% job approval number which is a bit higher than some of the national polls show. Despite the fact that this number is good, there are some lurking shadows that spell trouble for Biden and the Democrats.
Specifically he’s not where he needs to be with his approval among Democrats (82%), or Independents (37%).
We’ll also talk about our new poll with some very interesting points regarding the public’s trust and distrust of the government – specifically when it comes to vaccines and mandates. In our recent poll we asked ‘is it right or wrong to disobey a mandate?’ What we’re asking is if they equate these mandates with law. 39% said it’s right to disobey, and 36% say it’s wrong with the rest of our respondents unsure.
When we asked respondents who they trust more or who has more legal authority – local authorities or federal authorities? 46% sided with local sheriff and 31% sided with the FBI.

President Biden’s numbers have been slowly improving this week. They’re still not good, but his numbers are no longer in free-fall. Or could it simply be the goodwill of the holidays that’s contributing to the bump?
The President has been trying to remain very visible this week and trying to show that he’s actively working to help with the disaster recovery in Kentucky, acknowledging the challenges in dealing with inflation and the Omicron variant.
In these conditions, a 3-point increase in job approval can be seen as a real positive.
Also – can the Fed get inflation under control or is it here to stay?
Speaking of numbers – we’re going to have new numbers from a brand new poll. We’ll be releasing data over the next few weeks. We’ll get into Biden’s job Approval, inflation and some topics that are future-oriented including AI, the 4th Industrial Revolution and more.

Today on the podcast we’re talking about survival. Currently Build Back Better is in the same spot it’s been in for months. While it will not receive any Republican support, Sen. Manchin and Sen. Sinema continue to be obstacles to passage.
One school of thought is that Manchin will vote ‘yes’ based on the long-term trajectory of West Virginia and if he signals support, then Sinema will follow. But that remains to be seen.
We’ll spend time today talking about West Virginia and it’s future as well as other major transitions on the horizon.
Finally – are humans on the verge of extinction? This conversation is brought about by a recent article citing declining birth rates and food supply degradation as early warning signs of pending disaster. So what do we think will happen next?
