How does science fiction have the potential to shape our understanding of human nature, reality, and the universe? It’s a topic that Damien Walter — writer, video essayist, and lifelong enthusiast of science fiction — is continuously exploring. If you take a look at his popular YouTube channel (aptly titled “Science Fiction”) you’ll see a wealth of analyses that explore the role the genre plays as a mirror to society, illuminating its potential to be more than mere escapism, but a lens through which we can examine the myths that shape us.

This week on The Wonder Dome, Damien shares with us his insights on science fiction’s capacity to deconstruct and reconstruct our worldviews, while also offering critiques of the ways in which we engage with storytelling, criticism, and debate today — especially online, where performativity often inflames radical polarization. From the architecture of storytelling to the transformative power of myth, this episode is a must-listen for anyone intrigued by the intersection of narrative, ideology, and the quest for meaning in an ever-changing world.

"Poem-Rocket" by Allen Ginsberg I am another Star. Will you eat my poems or read them or gaze with aluminum blind plates on sunless pages? do you dream or translate & accept data with indifferent droopings of antennae? do I make sense to your flowery green receptor eyesockets? do you have visions of God? Which way will the sunflowers turn surrounded by millions of suns? This is my rocket my personal rocket I send up my message Beyond Someone to hear me there My immortality without steel or cobalt bassalt or diamond gold or mercurial fire without passports filing cabinets bits of paper warheads without myself finally pure thought

In this new series, we revisit past episodes of The Wonder Dome that continue to resonate powerfully today. First published in October of 2021, this conversation with the incomparable Lawrence Barriner II surrounding the complexities of grief, the transformative power of understanding one’s own story, and the untapped potential that lies in the collective grieving of our shared history feels as relevant as ever.

Lawrence’s ability to honor past lineages while forging new cultural pathways shines through his belief in storytelling as a tool for justice and creation. Lawrence works in individual, group, and network levels, particularly at the intersections of white supremacy and toxic patriarchy, to support transformation in order to create a world where, “liberation is experienced, not just imagined.”

In this episode, Lawrence teaches us that by creating a space where we can grieve, heal, and imagine something new, we can step towards possible futures beyond our wildest imaginations.

"On Joy and Sorrow" by Kahlil GibranThen a woman said, Speak to us of Joy and Sorrow. And he answered: Your joy is your sorrow unmasked. And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears. And how else can it be?The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain. Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven? And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives? When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight. Some of you say, "Joy is greater than sorrow," and others say, "Nay, sorrow is the greater."But I say unto you, they are inseparable. Together they come, and when one sits alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed. Verily you are suspended like scales between your sorrow and your joy. Only when you are empty are you at standstill and balanced. When the treasure-keeper lifts you to weigh his gold and his silver, needs must your joy or your sorrow rise or fall.

Bonnitta Roy is an author, award-winning teacher, and insight guide who helps individuals and groups break away from limiting patterns of thought so that they can grow into their full potential. Bonnie works across many levels of abstraction while remaining grounded in the important questions: Who are we? How do we want to be in the world, with ourselves, and with each other? What is it to be human?

Through her work with horses, Bonnie helps others connect with the power of their embodied presence and how these creatures can help teach us to reconnect with the foundational aspects of our being — or what Bonnie calls our “animal bodies.” In doing so, the stark contrast between living in congruence with our animal bodies and the draining simulations of our minds — the narratives and justifications for life created by our consciousnesses — is revealed, and with it a healthier, more integrated path forward.

In this conversation, as we delve into the metaphysics of what makes us human, Bonnie reminds us that our true nature is not something to be learned anew, but rather a latent force within us all, waiting to be reawakened.

Let’s settle in and hear what Bonnie has for us.

"Wild Geese" by Mary OliverYou do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your kneesfor a hundred miles through the desert, repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your bodylove what it loves. Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mind. Meanwhile the world goes on. Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rainare moving across the landscapes, over the prairies and the deep trees, the mountains and the rivers. Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air, are heading home again. Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting—over and over announcing your placein the family of things.

Founder of the Mindful Living Revolution, Deborah Eden Tull is an author, Zen mindfulness/meditation teacher, and EcoDharma educator. Her latest book, “Luminous Darkness: An Engaged Buddhist Approach to Embracing the Unknown” serves as a compass to our conversation today as we navigate the realm of shadows, the unspoken, and the rich mysteries to be uncovered when we’re willing to embrace our own personal darkness.

Eden’s teachings challenge us to reconsider our relationship with the darkness we often avoid. She illuminates how the over-lighting of our planet mirrors the over-lighting of human consciousness, and how the dichotomous patterns of how we perceive and judge “light versus dark”, or “good versus bad” leads to things like systemic racism and xenophobia. With gentle wisdom, Eden offers a path to “endarkenment,” where we can find strength and healing in the shadows we’ve long suppressed.

As we explore what it means to move from hierarchical power to the cultivation of shared power, Eden invites us to practice transparency, metabolize collective grief, and reconnect with our Earth bodies. This conversation with Eden feels like a balm and a beacon, encouraging us to turn towards the darkness with open hearts to find the luminous beauty waiting therein.

Let’s get settled in and hear what Eden has for us.

"We Grow Accustomed to the Dark" by Emily DickinsonWe grow accustomed to the Dark—When Light is put away—As when the Neighbor holds the LampTo witness her Goodbye—A Moment—We uncertain stepFor newness of the night—Then—fit our Vision to the Dark—And meet the Road—erect—And so of larger—Darknesses—Those Evenings of the Brain—When not a Moon disclose a sign—Or Star—come out—withinThe Bravest—grope a little—And sometimes hit a TreeDirectly in the Forehead—But as they learn to see—Either the Darkness alters—Or something in the sightAdjusts itself to Midnight—And Life steps almost straight.

We have yet another wonderful return guest this week with Paul Zonneveld. Last time, I had an opportunity to connect with Paul and his colleague Mieke Jacobs to discuss their book Emergent, which is an exploration of systemic intelligence, and how every system, whether naturally occurring or human made, exhibits certain qualities and patterns that you can navigate once they’re brought to your awareness. In doing so, it potentially unlocks a wealth of creativity and possibility for that system — say, an organization or a team — than was otherwise available.

Paul’s journey has found him in a new life stage known as “early elderhood” as described by Bill Plotkin’s developmental model, the “Wheel of Life.” As he embraces this transition, he shares with us the rich tapestry of his experiences, which are a testament to the importance of legacy and the art of passing wisdom to the next generation of leaders and change-makers.

His latest endeavor, The Full Download, is a program designed to impart the essence of systemic thinking through an immersive 22-day experience spread over 18 months. This initiative is not only a culmination of Paul's decades of expertise but also a gateway for practitioners to deepen their practice and navigate the complexities of modern organizational dynamics.

Those interested in leadership development or who are simply contemplating their own lives and legacies will especially resonate with this episode. Let’s settle in and hear what Paul has for us.

This week we welcome back Amy Fox, CEO and co-founder of Mobius Executive Leadership. Amy is a beacon of transformational leadership and a steward of spaces where healing and growth flourish. She joined us recently for a conversation about trauma-informed leadership, and what makes today’s episode special is that this conversation was recorded almost two years ago. For a variety of reasons we weren’t able to publish at that time, but we’re excited to finally be able to share this enlightening conversation with you today as a bonus episode.

If you haven’t yet heard my previous conversation with Amy, this episode will serve as a wonderful companion piece. Amy shares insights on the importance of respecting defense mechanisms, the innate desire for connection, and the power of creating safe spaces — even virtually — that can be felt across continents. As we navigate the complexities of leadership in a world that’s both charted and uncharted, Amy’s voice is both a guide and a gentle reminder that we are all walking each other home.

Let’s get settled in and hear what Amy has for us.

"The Journey" by Mary OliverOne day you finally knewWhat you had to do, and began, Though the voices around youKept shoutingTheir bad advice, Though the whole houseBegan to trembleAnd you felt the old tugAt your ankles. "Mend my life!"Each voice cried. But you didn't stop. You knew what you had to do, Though the wind priedWith its stiff fingersAt the very foundations, Though their melancholyWas terrible. It was already lateEnough, and a wild night, And the road full of fallenbranches and stones. But little by little, As you left their voices behind, The stars began to burnThrough the sheets of clouds, And there was a new voice, Which you slowlyRecognized as your own, That kept you companyAs you strode deeperInto the world, Determined to doThe only thing you could do, Determined to saveThe only life you could save.

Robin Alfred is an executive coach, educator, and trainer in leadership development — as well as a dear friend and mentor. He has a unique capacity to facilitate depth work, which is the work of understanding ourselves fully across all levels of awareness, where we can allow thoughts, feelings, and possibilities to arise organically through our relationships to others, to nature, and to reality. Rather than trying to make something happen through force, this work asks us how do we let it emerge the same way a butterfly emerges through a chrysalis?

In his latest offerings, Robin names the work of leadership as mystic and asks how we can live in a way that allows us to apply mysticism to our leadership work around some of the most important topics of our time. Often when we think about leadership, we conjure images of those with the most resources, the most political influence. But that’s not leadership — that’s just power. And though the word “mystic” comes with some baggage, mystics throughout history (Jesus Christ, the Buddha, and many, many more) continue to shape and influence the way we live our lives today. Robin invites us to gather whatever power we have, wherever we are in the world, and to get connected to reality in the ways mystics have done.

Robin’s course “Emergent Leadership: A Training in Applied Mysticism” runs from April-December 2024. His free masterclass, which is a great opportunity to get a taste for his work, is on March 6. To learn more about these offerings, visit the link in our show notes.

Let’s get settled in and hear what Robin has for us.

Miles Borrero is a self-described spirit and body geek. He is a trans-masculine, gender-fluid Latinx yoga teacher, writer, and body therapist based in New York City. His recent memoir, Beautiful Monster: A Becoming is the heart-wrenching story of Miles’ journey of breaching bounds of gender, cultures, and borders to become the person he truly is. Miles was nearly 40 years old having lived most of his life as a woman in Bogota, Colombia when he experienced a moment of clarity: faced with his father’s impending death, grappling with the fragility of our human experience, Miles felt compelled to finally be known as his father’s son, before it was too late — despite the real fear of losing his family’s love.

The question of transgender identity is highly charged around the world — certainly here in the U.S. as many states pass laws that make it dangerous to identify as transgender. Part of our conversation today explores the question of, how do we claim our identity when there are people who would rather us be dead than be who we are? Miles is exemplary of what it’s like to see someone fully embodied in who they are; who is willing to work across boundaries that may not be successful; to know that some might not make the journey from their current worldview into one that makes space for people like Miles, like us; and to accept that as a loss while standing tall anyway.

Beautiful Monster brims with wonder, humor, and mythos — as does our conversation.

Let’s get settled in and hear what Miles has for us.

Ken Liu is a multi-award winning speculative fiction author and third-time guest of The Wonder Dome. Even if you haven't read one of his dozens of stories, it’s likely you’ve seen work he’s contributed to on places like Netflix and AMC. His writing has reached a tremendous influence in the zeitgeist when we think about questions of humanity; identity; artificial intelligence; creativity; innovation and the future.

In today’s conversation, Ken and I discuss two of his recent pieces of work. The first is an achingly beautiful short story called The Passing of the Dragon. It follows Kay, a painter trying to rekindle her relationship with her own creative muse. It’s a bittersweet story for those of us who are trying to create things in a world that is profoundly noisy, where hot takes and cruel judgements are often dumped gleefully upon artists in an effort to diminish their gifts.

The other story we discuss is Ken’s translation of Laozi’s Dao De Jing. It’s one of the world’s most ancient spiritual texts from China, predating Jesus Christ and Christianity by 400 years. It’s been translated and re-translated many times over the centuries, often by Western writers and thinkers already working from English versions of the text. Ken made a commitment to go back to the original Chinese and create his own fresh, beautiful and moving interpretation for this transformative time we’re living in.

What I love about how I’ve experienced Taoist philosophy is how playful and provocative it is, how much it both invites us into the beauty of language while also saying, language is not the thing — your experience comes first. It’s the paradox of how we need language to communicate this experience, and to point us in the direction of possibility, and yet we can’t show reality with language or art; only gift each other with a perspective or a possibility.

So what does it mean for us to claim responsibility for our own experience, in our own understanding of reality? How do we each of us make a home for ourselves in this world of ours, particularly as so much is breaking down culturally, economically, and politically?

Let’s get settled in and hear what Ken has for us.

How do we help ourselves live healthily in a system that conspires to keep us sick? Noëlle Janka, dear friend and author of Rebel Healing: Transforming Ourselves and the Systems That Make Us Sick, seeks to answer that question.

Often in the world of healthcare and wellness, there’s a red herring debate between Western or “acute” medicine, and what others may call “alternative” medicine. You might refer to it as “original” medicine, or that back and forth between modern and ancient practices. Rebel Healing doesn’t mire itself in that debate, but rather delves deep into the systemic reasons behind why so many of us are getting sick. You may have heard someone off-handedly say, “The U.S. healthcare system is totally broken.” Noëlle unpacks this sentiment by asking, what is actually broken? Why is it that, even if a particular form of medicine or healing might help you, it’s so hard to get? What does it mean to understand that we do have agency when it comes to our health and wellbeing?

In her book, Noëlle offers a radical redefinition of what it means to heal, as well as an understanding of the social and political underpinnings of the policies enacted on our behalf when it comes to our health. While sharing her own incredible journey of managing chronic illness, Noëlle shows us how to build a foundation for healing right now, despite these social and political headwinds.

If you or someone you know suffers from chronic illness and could benefit from companionship, acknowledgment and affirmation as well as some new ways of thinking about your health and wellness, Rebel Healing and this conversation is a great place to begin that journey.

Let’s get settled in and hear what Noëlle has for us.

This week we welcome back Raj Sisodia, acclaimed author of books like The Healing Organization, Firms of Endearment and Conscious Capitalism. Today we're here to discuss his latest book, Awaken. Raj has been on a mission to bring caring, humanity and healing to business since he first began writing books in 2007. He's spent this time thinking and feeling in the direction of how we can help groups of people in the form of businesses make a difference in the world, and help people live to their full potential. As he embarked on his journey of writing The Healing Organization, Raj received wisdom from women and elders in his life that if he were to write a book about healing in business, that he needed to go deeper and heal as an individual, too. Awaken is the intimate and personal product of that journey. The word "healing" comes from the Indo-European roots word "kalo", which translates to "whole." Healing is an incredibly fundamental concept of what it means to be alive. Often we think of that purely in terms of our physical health, which is part of it. But our bodies also carry in it our psyche, our psychology, our soul -- Awaken is a book about the soul. It's a book about what it means to become whole, to bring in the parts of your life that you have ignored, that you're afraid of, or that caused you pain and to meet them. I hope as you listen you think about what it is for you to awaken, to live with more love, simplicity, trust and truth in your own life. And if you begin there, you might leave behind a legacy of love and healing for those to come. Let's get settled in and hear what Raj has for us.

Miles Enriquez-Morales is a poet, athlete and student in Los Angeles. His boxing journey began in Longmont, Colorado where he eventually became a coach for youth classes. He also hosts a class called Trans Boxing which is specifically for trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people in LA. He is a fellow student of past guest Tlotlo Tsamaase, who is a writer in the same Master of Fine Arts program.

Miles sits at a wonderful intersection as a poet and a boxer; in my head, I think of poetry as a practice of sensitivity, nuance and discernment. Whereas the story I have of boxing is one of competition, violence and domination, which can be beautiful and artistic in its own way. I haven't met many boxer/poets, but Miles is one of them.

The question of gender, biology and identity is both alive as well as politically charged right now, often in violent and harmful ways. When it comes to treating each other as humans first, we're not doing well as a culture. We'll hear Miles' story of becoming a boxer and finding camaraderie, kinship and safety to be himself in a space so often perceived to be meant for only one kind of person. As a teacher, artist and competitor, Miles shows us that this can be for anyone.

Let's get settled in and hear what Miles has for us.

Our guest today is Rosi Greenberg: artist, author/illustrator, leadership development trainer, and a dear friend and colleague.

Rosi is a master of the art of bringing people together to learn and grow. She recently released Everyone Has a Sam, an illustrated book about meeting your inner critic and re-writing the rules for motivation, accomplishment, and self-worth.

Rosi's illustrations, combined with the insights she brings from her deep understanding of human development, are wonderfully funny, authentic, and useful. Because let's be honest: the last thing you need amid this complex, scary, and volatile time is some voice in your head shaming you for not being perfect!

In our conversation today, we play in a space of humor and vulnerability, exploring how and why our "inner critics" attempt to use shame and self-criticism as a source of motivation and self-protection. However well-meaning this approach is, it always fails in the long run. The good news is that amazing possibilities emerge when we release our shame.

So come join us and help your own "inner Sam" stop worrying so much :-)

Brandon Peele has built his profession around moving towards the most important and often triggering cultural and political topics. Brandon's willingness to look deeply and critically at the questions surrounding America's collective shadow and the horrors that shape our past and present comes through a lens of purpose.

America e pluribus unum: out of many, one. What does it mean to actually build a national identity that can acknowledge the horrors of our past while also being willing to try to heal and learn from them? How do we build the America that exists in our minds and hearts, as opposed to the America that is fractured, polarized, and increasingly descending into breakdown?

Brandon has been thinking deeply about these questions, and is unafraid to let inquiries of spirituality, identity and history sit alongside ones of politics, capitalism, and economics. In our evocative conversation, Brandon shares how all of these are interrelated and offers a beautiful metaphor about the individual and collective power that calls us into relationship with the land we're all trying to call home.

Host of Mike's Search for Meaning, coach, and longtime supporter of the Wonder Dome, Mike Trugman has gone through a beautiful journey of growth and transformation of reorienting his career to include space for deep inner work for coaching, health and wellness, mindfulness, while coming from a background in accounting and finances. He skillfully stands in both worlds now with a lot of curiosity and willingness to invite others into his own journey for growth.

When Mike reached out to see if we could do a Wonder Dome conversation together, I immediately said yes. An ongoing curiosity for myself as a father of three kids, was how Mike was emerging into that identity with his first child on the way and also having done some meaningful work to negotiate a deeper connection with his own father.

There's a beautiful sense of intergenerational growth and connection that Mike is standing for from a place of curiosity and love, and a real willingness to go straight towards some of the hardest topics that are easy to avoid. Mike goes towards these topics beautifully, and we had a fun, enlightening conversation about how to navigate being a man, a parent, and a son at this moment in time.

It's a joy to be joined by my dear friend, the inspiring Edi Pasalis. Edi is a mindfulness teacher, a yoga teacher, and a leadership practitioner. Arguably, she is the person who gave me my first job in the world of leadership development that I inhabit pretty robustly now. By inviting me to join the leadership team with Kripalu's RISE program, Edi opened this doorway, so generously and beautifully into a world that has changed my life and also changes many others.

Right now, Edi is stepping more fully into this phase of her own life and journey. Edi takes me into the world of menopause and what the common narrative of it is, and how isolating and pathologizing that can be. I learned so much from Edi about the ways in which the conventional narrative around menopause is actually deeply harmful for a lot of women - and by extension, deeply harmful for all of us as a society. It can take these human beings, these elder women who are navigating this phase in their life who have so much wisdom and sort of push them off to the side.

It's really a tragedy, and I love how Edi is standing again, in the same way that she did for me and so many others, and saying, I see what maybe others haven't seen yet. I invite you join her and see what she sees.

Amy Elizabeth Fox is the CEO and co-founder of Mobius Executive Leadership. It's safe to say that the work I do in the world at KONU and my private coaching practice would not be as enriched and as robust if not for the work of Mobius.

Mobius weaves together an incredibly rich and deep intellectual spiritual heritage for how change happens in individuals, groups, and organizations. One of the biggest core insights that Mobius draws upon is the understanding that we live in a world that's hurting.

To lead ourselves and others in this world means we need to become trauma-informed. To understand the way that trauma lives in us, individually and collectively. To honor the protective mechanisms we all have to cope with trauma. To recognize that if we can't safely and patiently heal from our traumas, we are likely to end up hurting ourselves and others even more.

This wisdom comes to life in Mobius's latest offering, a trauma-informed coach training program. Our conversation opens a doorway to meet our trauma with compassion, heal it, and access the latent creativity and the aliveness that's present behind it. Because when trauma gets unfrozen, and healing starts to happen, that's when our greatest life energy starts to flow.

If you're a leader or a leadership development practitioner, please listen closely to this one. It is so essential to our work in this era of cultural, economic, and ecological disruption and destruction.

Cheryl Ntumy is deeply committed to art as a vehicle for self-understanding and collective cultural growth. Her writing ranges widely, traversing everything from romance to speculative fiction. She speaks powerfully to writing as a journey into true empathy and understanding of yourself and others - across cultures, across identities, across time and space.

We have a rich conversation about the ways in which art is "a kind of religion" that has its roots in the beautiful diversity of human cultures, while also transcending them. Art points us towards the universal truths underlying existence. And accessing those truths is an act of monastic-like devotion: always returning to the page, to the canvas, to the studio, to the instrument.

If you long for a life with more meaning and creativity, then join us for this deep dive into the sacred practice of making art.

This wonderful and inspiring conversation with Ray Martin has been a long time coming - and I'm so excited to finally share it with you!

Ray is the living embodiment of these powerful questions:

What would happen if you released your ties to your professional identity? How would you direct yourself through life without the steady paycheck, the usual comforts, the predictable conditions, and the familiar routines?

Ray's book, Life Without a Tie, beautifully explores how he came to his own answers when faced with a deeply disruptive personal circumstance that forced him to let go of his identity as a successful, award-winning business leader and entrepreneur. What he did next was a journey of openness, humility, surprising coincidences, and a newfound sense of self.

Ray is a born storyteller. There were several moments during our conversation when I was moved to the edge of tears. Listen in to hear about the incredible, unbelievable opportunities that emerged as Ray navigated through depression and embraced the part of him that was ready to let go of old ways and explore something new.

If you find yourself in a similar moment of transition or disruption, I hope that this conversation and Ray's writings might inspire you to live your questions and find your own answers, even if it means letting go of much of who you thought you were.

The Wonder Dome is back after our summer hiatus! And we're kicking off the fall with Jee Chang - a leadership coach, creative director, designer, and professor who teaches at Parsons School of Design, The New School, and the Pratt Institute. She’s also the founder and leadership director of UME, an inside-out brand consultancy that works with radical visionaries and vanguard organizations to build a more regenerative and inclusive future.

Our conversation works at the intersection of design and leadership, asking the question: How do we design our spaces, work, and identity to reflect - perhaps even to elevate - our deeply held values?Jee in particular is committed to elevating principles of feminine leadership. She sees this as the work of bringing people together to move hearts and minds to a place where business becomes a vehicle for the greater good, as opposed to competing with a greater good.

Jee also carries the wonderful capacity to enter tough conversations and to say what needs to be said, doing so in a way that calls people in rather than simply calling them out. If you're exploring the intersections of art and leadership, of design and identity, then Jee is going to light you up.

Max Gladstone has a “galaxy brain” - he is deeply and widely read, he has thought deeply about many different dimensions of life and existence, and he has a remarkable gift for transmitting his insights in the form of wickedly smart stories that are equal parts devastatingly beautiful and laugh-out-loud funny.

His recent novel Last Exit serves as the centerpiece for our conversation today. It asks: What happens when there's no other place to go? When you have come to the end of the road for the life you once imagined for yourself? What lies beyond that threshold?

Last Exit is a wild road trip that offers a glimpse of what comes next when your life has fallen to pieces: though it comes with great risk, you might discover beautiful possibilities beyond imagining just past the threshold that marks your current ideas about the world.

O.B. Amaechi is a Nigerian-American author, entrepreneur, fashion designer, educator, and coach whose “purpose is soaked in beauty.” Our conversation delves deeply into the themes evoked by that phrase: Why does beauty move us so? And what does it have to do with our soul, our calling, our orientation in life?

O.B. has walked the walk in many different contexts: working with young people and teachers, working with organizations who want to make their culture more beautiful by becoming more inclusive and equitable, and working one-on-one with people who are trying to find their own path in the world. Jeff Lieberman is the co-founder of Sleepawake Camp. A play on the “sleep away camp,” Sleepawake is a boot camp for the body, heart, and mind. The summer program is geared towards people ages 18 to 27 who are ready to learn all of the things that are never taught in school: conflict resolution, emotional regulation, mindful communication, and so much more.

Jeff, along with his co-founder (and former Wonder Dome guest) Cat Tweedie have run the camp for a year, and it was amazingly successful in its first season. It is a powerful container for young people who carry a sense that something's missing from our culture, that are maybe looking around going, is this it?

Over the past 15 years, Jeff’s been training in meditation, personal development, and group dynamics for well-being. He creates spaces where others can tap into their own wisdom and insight, using art to inspire wonder and awe. He also beautifully and authentically speaks to the decade-plus he spent navigating deep depression despite seemingly having it all together from the outside.

This year, Sleepawake Camp runs from June 17 to July 16, 2023. If you’re between the ages of 18-27 and long for that kind of depth and connection to life, to your sense of purpose and well-being, submit an application online. There are many, many others who are asking the question, “Is this all there is?” and finding the answer to be no. There's so much more.Episode Notes:

Paul Dunion has been working for decades to help people of all ages - especially men - step more fully into their maturity, their identity, and their potential. And to do so in a way that engages, integrates, and heals the shadow sides of our lives: the parts of ourselves that we don't want people to see. The parts that others may have told us is unacceptable.

Paul writes and speaks beautifully about the nature of life and about the ways in which so much of our experience is outside the scope of our control. As Paul says, We're not here to get life “right.” But if we're open and willing to let it, life might get us “right.”That idea sits at the heart of his book, Wisdom, a wonderful exploration of what it truly means to become wise. Paul is not only a wordsmith. He's also a heart- and soul-smith. Our conversation today explores these patterns of maturity, masculinity, shadow work, inviting us to be blessed by life; to be initiated into life's mysteries and humbling wonders; and, perhaps, to live into a world where we are, each of us, a blessing walking.Connect with Paul:

My guest today is Reggie Mara, author of the new book Healing America's Narratives: The Feminine, The Masculine, and Our Collective National Shadow. It provides a deep look at how we could build a country actually rooted in wisdom, equality, and possibility as imagined in our founding documents.

Overall, Reggie’s work is about helping people become more fully human. He embodies the recognition that we’re no more and no less than the way we treat each other. And he shares the insight that by changing ourselves we become the possibility for changing our society.

In our conversation, we tap into what it might take for us to actually talk to our fellow Americans, breaking the downward spiral of zero sum competition, political polarization, burnout, and escapism that defines our current socio-political landscape.

So if you're here for an America that actually lives up to it's ideals, then listen in. Reggie's vision for Healing America's Narratives delves into the history that has shaped us and the path we might walk ahead.

Tlotlo Tsamaase is a remarkably talented author of speculative fiction. Her novella The Slience of the Wilting Skin - a provocative, psychedelic, heartwrenching novella that explores the devastating impacts of colonialism - served as the centerpiece of our first conversation. Tragically, something went wrong with that recording and the audio was unlistenable. We had a great time, but we couldn't share it with you.

We decided to pick up where that conversation left off, exploring the ineffable nature of creativity. It’s hard to put into words, but you might imagine rather than saying “I am writing something,” you say instead, “something is writing me.” It’s an elusive and incredibly powerful state, one that infuses Tlotlo’s work with visceral and vital energy.

So we start there and wind our way into the ways in which the stories that repress us - colonialism, sexism, and systemic racism - have shaped so much of what’s written, and all the ways that Tlotlo’s working to unpack that, offering stories that might set us free. Stories that challenge us to see truths about our world that we may not be ready or willing to see.

Her debut novel Womb Citycomes out in the Fall of 2023, and I can promise you that it will be a potent one. Tlotlo also offers beautiful insights about how to make a space for your own singular artistic voice when you're repeatedly told by gatekeepers that there is not a seat at the table for you. She’s carved her own beautiful path. Perhaps it will inspire you to carve your own.

R.S.A. Garcia is a Trinbagonian speculative fiction author who lives in Trinidad and Tobago with her extended family, and as she says, too many cats and dogs :^) Her debut science fiction mystery novel, Lex Talionis, received a starred review from Publishers Weekly, silver medal for best sci-fi fantasy horror ebook from the Independent Publishers award, and became an Amazon Best Seller.

She's also published some incredible short fiction, including the novella Philia, Eros, Storge, Agápe, Pragma. If you speak Greek, then you may know the meaning of those words: they are all different kinds of love. The novella explores the question of love in its many different forms. The story’s science-fictional world - which includes artificial intelligence, space travel, and interplanetary conflict - is imbued with relationship, family, and respect for tradition, but also a willingness to risk everything for a better future. It draws on both historical realities from our world and richly imagined possibilities from R.S.A.'s incredible imagination. So I'm really excited for you to hear this one, and I hope that you leave here with an urge to read even more of her beautiful writing.

Eric Larson, SB Rawz, and I met several years ago. We're all coaches, and we're all on varying parts of our journey into the profession: building our careers, building our businesses, and I immediately felt a deep resonance with both of them.Eric is a return visitor to The Wonder Dome. SB is a new arrival, but feels like an old friend to The Dome. She brings a wonderful depth of insight. And both of them in combination with their expertise and experience are just so god damn fun :^)

If you listen in, you'll learn a lot. You'll laugh. You'll sit with some big questions. You might occasionally throw your arms up in irritation - or in joy. I invite you to make sure you listen all the way to the end, where Eric leads us in an experiment about resetting the frame of our lives, and play along with us in a way that feels right for you, wherever you are in this moment.

The world is as noisy as ever, and only getting more so. And we're not just talking about the actual sound waves producedby machines, cars, televisions, etc. There's a lot of real noise, but there's also informational noise (news, videos, updates, ‘likes’, ‘feeds’, etc) and interior noise (anxiety, worry, doubt, anger, fear, rumination, self-judgment, etc).

Today’s guests, Leigh Marz and Justin Zorn, are taking this issue head-on. They are the co-authors of the timely book Golden: The Power of Silence in a World of Noise. It is a beautifully written and researched exploration of the spiritual, cultural, social, and collective traditions of accessing spaces of silence in the midst of noisy life.

Golden is written to help us connect to what silence actually is - not just the absence of noise, but a kind of energizing, inspiring presence. And it outlines how the presence of silence can transform us as individuals, as groups, and even as a society.

What might it look like for us to orient towards a society where there is less inner and outer noise? Where we have more access to spaces of silence that allow us to truly listen for what is possible in our lives and in the world? New outcomes emerge that simply are not possible when we're scrambling, hustling, and drowning in all this noise. Tune in to this conversation to experience those questions and explorations for yourself.

Dr. Nerina Ramlakhan has worked 25+ years as a physiologist and sleep and energy expert. At the core of our conversation is her most recent book, Finding Inner Safety, which she describes as a natural extension of and deepening of her expertise and human physiology, the science of sleep, and the behaviors that can help us sleep better. Underneath our ability to sleep is our capacity to feel safe. If you don't feel safe, you can't sleep.

So after 25 years of developing an incredible body of work and impacting thousands of people to help them live healthier lives by sleeping better, she's stepping even more fully into this reality that the deeper truth of our society is that many of us, regardless of wealth, income, and location, live in an epidemic of unsafety.Nerina is stepping beautifully into this space to make a case for the collective, individual, and ancestral healing work we need to do. She affirms that each one of us has access to healing and finding our own inner safety - if we’re willing to go on the journey. I hope you can begin that journey with us starting with this powerful conversation.

From the moment I first encountered Kate Elliott’s short story, ”I am a handsome man, said Apollo Crow,” I knew I was in the hands of a master storyteller. Kate is an incredibly talented and prolific author who has written so many cool, fun, enriching books - and they serve as the spine of our conversation today.

One of her most recent books, Unconquerable Sun, is a gender-swapped story of Alexander the Great set on an interstellar scale. It's operatic. It's beautiful. It's also deeply researched - essentially everything you're reading in the book is pulled from the various tellings of the story of Alexander the Great. You’ll get an inside look into Kate's mind to understand what it takes to write a book of this scope that’s just brimming with insight, historical nuance, and texture. This conversation was a powerful exploration of craft, history, identity, of what it is to step into our calling despite resistance, despite even risk of loss of life - which is true for so many of the characters that Kate writes about.

I’ve had the pleasure of bringing Yotam Schachter into The Wonder Dome several times now. This particular conversation is a bonus mini-episode where Yotam walks us through his method of Self-Coaching, a simple and powerful practice for engaging with life’s many growth opportunities.

Self-coaching teaches us how to dialog with ourselves, acting as both client and coach. Just like a professional coach, you will listen, ask questions, and empathize with yourself. As a result, you can grow your own capacity to navigate life’s challenges and opportunities with more skill, grace, and self-compassion.

If you’re interested in learning more about self-coaching, Yotam is hosting both a “taster” workshop and a full, seven-session program. I’ve worked with Yotam in a variety of ways, and he is truly a gifted practitioner. If you’re interested in cultivating your own learning and growth - and may not have the means or desire to invest in private 1:1 coaching - then I highly recommend checking out his Self-Coaching program.

Rebecca F. Kuang is a multi-award winning Best Selling Author and an accomplished scholar and academic. Her epic fantasy trilogy, The Poppy War, is a beautiful, brutal, story that combines the history of 20th-century China with a universe of monsters, magic, and gods. It is a heartbreaking and powerful piece of art, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in things like Game of Thrones and other fantasy works.

Her latest book, Babel, or The Necessity of Violence: An Arcane History of the Oxford Translators' Revolution, is a number one New York Times best seller. I think it's safe to say the book is a masterpiece. It explores an alternative history of academia centered at Oxford University in a magical version of London where literary translation is magical.

The book's central character, Robin Swift, is orphaned by cholera in Canton and is brought from China to London by a mysterious professor. We come to discover the truth of the Royal Institution of Translation alongside Robin, and in the process, we are given an unflinching look at the oppressive, colonial, racist ideology that allowed this institution to come into being. What the best science fiction and fantasy do so well is make us look long and hard at our own world. Babel does so without sacrificing the story, which is filled with moments of sweetness and love and tenderness, and also moments of violence and loss and brutality.

In our conversation, Rebecca and I explore what it is to translate, what it is to speak, what it is to have an identity and a sense of place or home, and what it is to lose that. Rebecca, ever the scholar and storyteller, leads us into that territory in a beautiful way.

Nina Simons is the co-founder of Bioneers, an organization focused on helping the human species reach a place of true racial and gender justice for all, while also rekindling our sacred relationship with the planet Earth - and in the process, supporting a just transition to a future that's regenerative, sustainable, and allows every living being on this planet to flourish. The mission of Bioneers and their extensive body of work also serve as a powerful example of what I aspire to build with The Wonder Dome: a place where people who care about our collective future can be nourished and inspired as they connect to hope, possibility, mystery, and beauty. In our conversation today, we use Nina’s award-winning book, Nature, Culture, & the Sacred: A Women Listens for Leadership, as the departure point for a wide-ranging conversation about the essentiality of bringing more feminine energy into leadership.

Nina has spent decades cultivating the leadership of women around the world. She embodies the wisdom she teaches. There's so much more I could say about her career and journey, but suffice it to say it was an incredible honor to host Nina in The Wonder Dome.

This episode officially marks the end of 10 episodes celebrating 100 conversations in The Dome! The opportunity to bring together past guests in new constellations has been a deeply meaningful gift. Hopefully, if you've been listening to these incredibly rich, deep, robust gatherings in The Dome, something has expanded or opened for you. Perhaps helping you see and feel in new ways, and, perhaps, access parts of yourself that have been harmed, lost, or numbed.

That's certainly the space that I play in with past Dome guests Rada Yovovich, Kade Friedman, and Wesley Morris. We recorded this conversation on October 11, 2022; National Coming Out Day. Both Kade and Rada explicitly do work to help people stand fully in their gender and sexual identities. And Wesley, whose work is focused on the intersections of race, privilege, and oppression, is very much a convener of beloved communities that welcomes all identities to the table.

My hope is that this conversation sparks something in you that has been longing to come out and come alive, even if other parts of you are scared to admit it. Because when you step more fully into who you are - in ways that feel safe and empowering and meaningful - you are giving the gift of that possibility to others. You will be doing great service to everyone in your life, starting with yourself.

NOTE: The title for this episode was adapted from Naomi Shibab Nye’s incredible poem So Much Happiness. Rada does a beautiful reading of this poem near the top of our conversation

My guests today for this continued celebration of 100 episodes of the Wonder Dome are Dr. Jeff Hull and Ben Preston. Jeff was on episode #55 of the Dome, "Meta Leadership," and Ben was on Episode #81, "The Space Where Worlds Meet."

In this return conversation, we explore one of the key constraints of our dominant capitalist culture: we often only know each other through the roles that we play in society. For example, the role of "consumer," the role of "provider," the role of "maker," of "inventor," of “employee", of "entrepreneur."

As a result, we don't actually know each other. We start to think that we are our roles. This can lead us to confuse socially "normal" behaviors - even highly destructive behaviors towards each other and the biosphere - as simply a fact of reality. That we are inherently greedy. That we are inherently designed for survival of the fittest. That it truly is a game of winner takes all.

These beliefs and the behaviors that follow from them are killing us. But they are far from the whole picture. We exist in a much more complex, beautiful, and diverse tapestry of possibility. Ben, Jeff, and I explore a few threads in that tapestry, discussing themes of leadership, culture-making, history, and ancestry. In the end, we center on this question: what might it look like to create alternative cultural spaces - right here and now - where we can have first-hand experiences of what a future culture could be?

It's time to totally reimagine who we are, what we're capable of, and what kind of world we want to build. It's time to stand for the highest and greatest good for our species and the whole planet. It’s time to embody a new cultural imagination.

And remember, as a way of saying thanks to everyone who’s supported this journey, I’m gifting my listeners with all sorts of cool artifacts that represent the best of the show: Books, music, art, coaching sessions, guided meditations, developmental practices, and even the chance to join me for a special live Wonder Dome gathering where we can meet in real-time and have a shared experience in The Dome.Learn more and enter here:https://mailchi.mp/58e29b41e03a/twd100

Continuing my celebration with past guests are Joel Monk (founder of Coaches Rising) and Ishita Sharma (founder of Come to Center). Coaches Rising is an amazing resource for practitioners who are working to evolve the field of coaching, exploring how to show up for our clients with deep questions, presence, openness. And Ishita is a faculty member for one of their more recent programs, The Power of Presence.

Our conversation centers around the questions: What is presence, and why does it matter? Why did Joel decide to build a whole program around presence? Why is presence the difference that makes the difference? The three of us play in that space in an attempt to be present with each other, to let go of a particular agenda for this conversation, and laugh, share, and learn from each other.

NOTE: In the last 15 minutes or so, Ishita invites you as the listener to get in touch with a moment where you really felt in flow or felt most like yourself. When that moment comes, prepare yourself to pause and really get into your mind and body and evoke that experience. And when you press play again, listen to the way we use that invitation to bring our conversation to its conclusion.

ALSO, NOTE: Toward the end, we also got interrupted by a VERY loud lawnmower. We decided to let that be part of our dance with presence and distraction. Hopefully, I’ve edited it enough that it isn’t too jarring as you listen in, and you can join us in the perfect humor of that moment :-)

Both Lawrence Barriner and Yotam Schachter have built their careers and callings around helping others grow and evolve. A big part of that for both of them is facilitating experiences where men can work together to reckon with masculinity, violence, healing, and repair.

In this conversation, we play at this intersection of what it is to be a man in relationship to the violence in our culture and in our histories. As men, we have a unique spectrum of qualities and attributes that anchor our physicality, our sexuality, or sensuality. These are a part of who we are, and these are also aspects that are often channeled in violent and unhealthy ways. How can we embrace those aspects of our masculine selves without being reduced, ashamed, or diminished by them?

This conversation was recorded in the wake of the Uvalde, Texas shooting. I was feeling in tune to the ways in which so much of the violence committed in our society is committed by men. There is, of course, more to be said about the contexts and histories that allow for the violence to happen. But the presence of men is a persistent factor when we look at shootings like this.

I've also recently finished reading Different by the primatologist Frans de Waal, who studies chimpanzees and bonobos - our two primate relatives that are genetically equally close to us humans - to challenge widely held beliefs about masculinity and femininity.

So personally, I'm in this space of making meaning around who we are as men and how we could evolve or show up in ways that allow us to fully express all of our potentials - not just the stereotypical “masculine” ones - but the full range of potentials in service of a more robust, healthy, healed, and joyful world.

For episode 105, I am joined from across the pond by Lee Chambers and Robert Stephenson. Lee and Robert each bring a distinct essence to the question:what becomes possible when we discover that our singular point of view on reality is just a small part of a bigger, more complex, more diverse human story?Together, the three of us tap into the insight that we all need places to meet, nourish, and sustain ourselves and we also need opportunities to travel, adventure, and discover out beyond ourselves. We can’t limit ourselves to one or the other. We need to find ways to integrate both. “The Tavern at the Beginning of the World” is a place to do just that :-)

In the end, this conversation is about what becomes possible if you are willing to shatter your current understanding of reality to find something bigger. Come join us for a drink at the Tavern and see where it takes you…

Returning to The Wonder Dome this week are long-time collaborators Parker Palmer and Carrie Newcomer. Parker is the author of many books and a celebrated teacher and educator. Carrie is the writer of many songs and creator of many albums and she too is a celebrated educator and teacher in her own right.

Together they have produced a number of stage productions centered around collective healing and reimagining and healing our democracy. They have co-written songs, turned poetry into music, and host The Growing Edge podcast - which is a beautiful venue for discovery and growth and a must-listen.

This conversation explores the many voices and cultures we’ll need to weave together if we're going to repair and restore the sacred lands we cohabitate, lands that have been desecrated by centuries of violence, theft, extraction, and forced displacement. Through music, poetry, and discussion, we tap into the spirit of possibility that can come if we're willing to show up in our lives and risk ourselves in our status, standing, and safety.

Today’s guests already know each other quite well. Chelsea Simpson and Michael Stern are co-founders of The Emerging Leaders Project. This beautiful offering to the world stands for the recognition that our societies are in transition. The systems that we've relied upon for centuries are breaking down. And they're doing so at an accelerating rate, which can be pretty damn scary.

But Chelsea and Michael recognize that as this breakdown accelerates it also creates the space for inspiring new possibilities. If we open our eyes and really look there are people, communities, organizations, and even entire nations who are rallying to meet this moment.

The Emerging Leaders Project is an incubator for this conscious social change, working to empower leaders all over the world by giving them the tools and frameworks necessary to discover and create a thriving future for our species.

For episode 102, I'm bringing together two past Wonder Dome guests who know each other quite well: Kim Loh and Gabe Wilson. They’ve worked together as facilitators, trainers, and coaches, and they co-authored Compassionate Conversations alongside master practitioner Diane Hamilton.

As the three of us come together again in The Wonder Dome, we deepen into one of the core themes from our prior conversations: the healing, learning, and growth that are possible when at the heart of conflict.

It’s easy to look at our dwindling public commons and despair. It has become driven by 24-hour news media cycles and social media bubbles of highly polarized and insular content. This content points to deep conflicts at the heart of our social structures and institutions.

What we don’t always see is that there are countless folks who are sitting with the question of how can we live together more peacefully and more beautifully? The paradox is that we might only be able to find the answer to that question if we're willing to walk into the fire of conflict and feel its heat. If we do it unskillfully, we’ll get burned. But if we can find our way in - if we can somehow dance in that fire - we also discover the warmth and light that can serve as the source for new life.

Back for our second episode of the Summer Celebration Series are Ken Liu, Tochi Onyebuchi, and Ray Nayler. All three of these writers add so much depth and richness to the tapestry of our lives. When you leave this conversation today, I encourage you to listen to my other interviews with them and to read their work. Their writing has the potential to change your relationship to what's possible for the future of our species.Ursula K. Le Guin said that “Change begins in art.” The divine rights of kings seemed to be a permanent fact of reality until artists, philosophers, and activists imagined something else. Imagination was the precursor to social change. In the same way, we will not end the suffering, inequities, and impoverishment of our global society until we can imagine something else.Ken, Tochi, and Ray are doing that imaginative work, each in their own beautiful way. Their work confronts the brutality of our societies while also amplifying and deepening the beauty of existence. Our conversation is a rich, deep, and joyful exploration of these themes.

Welcome to the 100th episode of The Wonder Dome! I've spent the past two years showing up as fully as I can for each one of these conversations. In the process, I've been repeatedly humbled and inspired by the amazing humans I've had the privilege to meet here in The Dome.

Thank you for being here with me. In a sense, every person who listens to these recordings is in the room with me and my guests. Getting in touch with your presence as we talk deepens the quality and the energy of the conversations in amazing ways.

To celebrate this milestone, I’m hosting a series of ten conversations with past guests. In today’s episode, I’m joined once again by the amazing Todd Marston. He was my very first guest in The Wonder Dome (and the composer of our theme song!). He was the person I went to and said, “I’m going to do this thing. I'm a little scared. It could be weird. It could be a hot mess. But if it's terrible, then at least we get to hang out for an hour.” And here we are 100 episodes later, and more than 10,000 people have tuned in.

In a really lovely and generous gesture, Todd reached out to me and said he’d like to interview me for my 100th episode. Todd turns the tables on me to help me unpack what I've learned through the journey of having 100 conversations in The Dome. He's such a talented and beautiful artist who brings his full self to the power of art to enliven us and make new worlds possible. He brings that playfulness and artistic spirit to his interview with me today. It was a delightful way to kick off the next 100 conversations in The Wonder Dome.

Finally, as a way of saying thanks to everyone who’s supported this journey, I’m gifting my listeners with all sorts of cool artifacts that represent the best of the show: Books, music, art, coaching sessions, guided meditations, developmental practices, and even the chance to join me for a special live Wonder Dome gathering where we can meet in real-time and have a shared experience in The Dome.

Angella Okawa is a certified Integral coach and a licensed marriage and family therapist and the founder of Mindful Diversity. She brings together a wide range of modalities to help people navigate questions of identity, belonging, community, diversity, and equity. These questions permeate our social fabric, pushing us to explore who we are and who we might become.

This is a deeply experiential episode. We begin by exploring work that I did with Angella in a private coaching session, where she took me through a process to connect to my own inner imagination to navigate a question of my future and purpose. From there, our conversation delves into group, social, and organizational contexts where there's conflict or disagreement about what's right or true. At the end of the conversation, Angella leads a guided visualization to weave together the elements we explored.

Throughout it all, she models what becomes possible if we’re willing to listen deeply to each other in those moments where we feel most afraid, angry, upset, or defensive. You will leave this conversation with a deeper sense of how to navigate spaces that are riven by conflict and uncertainty, and how to emerge from those conflicts with more **possibility, creativity, and true human connection

Cat Tweedie is the CEO and co-founder of Sleepawake Camp, a four-week residential intensive for 18 to 24-year-olds to explore how to live life with authenticity and awareness.

Up through graduating high school, the average young person has spent 18,000 hours studying science, math, language, arts, and social studies. But there's a really good chance that those same students have spent zero hours studying how to negotiate conflict, focus their attention, work skillfully with their emotions, or even how to allow themselves to have emotions and express them fully and wholeheartedly.

Sleepawake Camp is about giving space for young people to step into the parts of life that are essential to our humanity but are absent from much of the social, organizational, and educational contexts that those of us who are privileged to have access to education to still don't get exposure to.

What I loved most about this conversation with Cat was her clear and potent invitation to all of us, regardless of how old we are, to step more fully into the emotional realities of life. This conversation explores how we might be able to find pathways back to our authentic, wholehearted selves.

Rev. Dr. Nóirín Ní Riain is a theologian, philosopher, and teacher of music and music history. She is a Reverend minister, a master of ritual, and uses sound to help people mark the most important milestones in their lives: birth, marriage, death, and many others along the way.

She also originated the concept of Theosony which is the sound of God or the sound of the Divine, a way of engaging with reality through listening that can bring us in touch with the mystery and the wonder of existence and of the universe.Nóirín has collaborated with hundreds of other singers and artists, perhaps most relevant to this audience, her sons Owen and Mícheál. In 2004, she collaborated with Sinead O'Connor who described Nóirín as her biggest influence and heroine in music.Nóirín has helped thousands of people through her music and gentle encouragement, as you’ll hear in our conversation today - which traverses Irish poetry, prayer, and sacred song; a distillation of the incredibly rich and full life that Nóirín has lived and an embodiment of her calling to share her gifts with the world.

My conversation with Sessei Meg Levie works with the possibility that sitting in stillness, attending to what is without judging yourself or the world, and simply noticing, can open whole new doorways of possibility in your life and the lives of those around you. Sessei Meg Levie is the head priest of the Stone Creek Zen Center in Sonoma County, CA, and she has been practicing Soto Zen for 30+ years. Over the past decade, she has pioneered the development of awareness practices in organizations around the world.

As a senior teacher for Search Inside Yourself, the mindfulness-based emotional intelligence and leadership program created at Google, she has trained hundreds of other meditation and mindfulness teachers and impacted thousands more participants. She's also a professional coach who works with executives to bring meditation and mindfulness to their leadership.

I invite you to start with the advice Meg offers at the end: simply pay attention. If you are feeling that sense of exhaustion, fatigue, or overwhelm, or even a hint that things could be different, then start by paying attention. Who knows what doorways might open?

Dominic Longo is the founder of Flourishing Gays, a coaching and consulting firm that works especially with gay, bi, queer, and trans men to support their leadership, personal development, growth, and flourishing. He is a remarkable scholar, teacher, coach, thinker, theologian, bringing together a number of different streams of understanding about how we humans are made, and who we can become if we give ourselves the gift of a life of transformation and growth. Our conversation explores human development through the lens of what it is to be Queer - in particular a Queer man - in our culture. We land on the beautiful possibility that by creating a world where Queer humans flourish, we are creating a world where every human can flourish. Because, in a sense, “queerness” is a part of all of us.

Regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, all of us have parts of ourselves that are deemed to be too different, strange, threatening, or confusing by our dominant culture. The natural protective response is to hide or repress those parts. But this comes with massive emotional, psychological, and energetic costs. When we find waystoset down our protections and our defenses, we have the opportunity to **welcome and amplify the latent gifts and potentials living inside us.

One of the coolest things about hosting The Wonder Dome is that I get to dive deep into conversations with some of the most dynamic human beings on the planet. Aidan McCullen is one of those people.

He is the author of Undisruptable: A Mindset of Permanent Reinvention for Individuals, Organisations, and Life. He also hosts the fantastic podcast, The Innovation Show, which served as an exemplar for me of what's possible for the Wonder Dome. And he publishes a weekly blog centering around what it means to reinvent ourselves and our organizations.

As you’ll see and hear, he has a remarkable gift for storytelling and metaphor, and his body of work speaks to the importance of having full access to all of our inner resources. So that we can do the hard work necessary to weather tough times. And so that we can adapt and innovate when the situation demands it.

We could stop there, and that would be material enough. But before Aidan built this body of work, he made a successful career as a professional rugby player with over 100 caps for Leinster, Toulouse, and London Irish. And in our conversation, he shares how even becoming a rugby player was in itself a personal reinvention.

In short, Aidan is someone who has walked the walk in terms of growth, adaption, and evolution. If you care at all about how to live life more fully, more creatively, with more resilience and adaptability, then this conversation is for you.

Nathan Blair is the founder and lead trainer at the Somatic School, a school for coaches and other practitioners who want to understand how our bodies serve as the vessel for deep connection and understanding between each other, with the entire planet, and with the universe.During his teens, Nathan was diagnosed with ADHD and took medication to manage his “symptoms.” But over time, through mindfulness and nature-based practices, he realized his sensitivity was not a problem to be medicated. It was, instead, an incredible superpower to be amplified.

Over the years, he's trained in a number of different practices rooted in a deep understanding of our neurophysiology, our neurobiology, and our empathic connectivity. Our conversation today is an absolutely delightful exploration into this work that ultimately extends beyond and beneath all words, transporting us into the realm of pure sensing.

Gayle Karen Young is a catalyst for human and organizational development. She is a mentor, a teacher, an empath, a systems thinker, and a healer. For many years, she worked as the chief culture and talent officer at the Wikimedia Foundation, the foundation responsible for Wikipedia and all of its sister projects devoted to free knowledge and free information. Now Gayle is in private practice, working with leaders from a variety of sectors, many at the frontlines of our collective future, living the question of where are we going and how might we get there together. Our conversation begins with the question, What is it to belong somewhere? To belong to a group? To a people? What does it take for us to find our way back to the places that feel like home? To remember that, in fact, this entire planet is our one and only home?

From there, we work with what we call the imaginal gap - that infinite possibility space that speculative authors, futurists, poets, and creators of many stripes have leapt across. The imaginal gap invites us to explore what becomes possible in the future if we resolve, repair, and restore our connections to universal truths right here, right now. This is not clean or easy work, but it is beautiful and essential. It requires our willingness and capacity to enter the sensitive, nuanced, highly-charged spaces of learning, discovery, and growth so that we can **“be able for” all that life has in store for us.

Janet Allison's work asks and helps us answer the question, how do we raise boys to become good men? She is the founder of Boys Alive, an organization that provides coaching and education to parents of boys of all ages. She's also the host of the ON BOYS podcast, which is now four years running with hundreds of thousands of downloads, featuring experts in the worlds of child psychology, development, and parenting.

Even if you are not a parent or don't ever plan to become one, this conversation will deeply impact you. It points to tragic cultural feedback loops that keep making it harder for children of all genders to become healthy, thriving adults.

As a result, we keep reproducing the very social-cultural problems we want to avoid - men abusing power, unable to communicate effectively, unable to express their emotions, confusing strength with force, confusing confidence with arrogance. All of these problems have roots in our culture's approach to raising boys.

Janet has done amazing work as an educator and coach to help people of all backgrounds unpack this. In the process, she helps us think deeply and clearly about who we want our children to become. **How do we help our children unlock their full potential without forcing them into rigid gender identities that limit that potential?

Kyrah Altman is theChillExecutive Officer and co-founder of LEAD an organization devoted to cultivating mental health and wellbeing in organizations and communities around the world. She is one of those rare, wholehearted leaders pushing back against the dominant narrative that constantly drives us to produce, to perform, to be perfect without ever revealing our full humanity.

Kyrah co-founded LEAD (Let's Empower, Advocate, and Do) 10 years ago as a 15-year-old high school student. Today, the fast-growing organization provides teaching, training, coaching, and a huge library of resources dedicated to what she calls "no fluff" mental health education. She travels the world speaking about the impact of social entrepreneurship on trauma survivors, the importance of addressing mental health and wellbeing, and of destigmatizing mental illness, particularly in vulnerable communities.

Ultimately, Kyrah is a champion for the idea that while not everyone has a mental illness, everyone can improve mental health. All of us live in contexts that are producing pain and suffering, but we can all contribute to the reduction of that pain in how we treat each other, how we treat ourselves, and how we build thriving cultures by inviting everyone to show up as full human beings.

Since he was a kid, Howard Prager has been living the question, “how can I make someone else’s day?”

Howard is the Founder and Executive Director of the Advanced Learning Group. He is a generous, kind-hearted human who is taking a stand for bringing “memorable, cherished moments” into leadership. His recent book, Make Someone's Day: Becoming a Memorable Leader in Work and Life, explores what it takes to do that.

In our conversation today, Howard and I play with the possibility that part of our collective work ahead is developing the capacity to show up for each other in a way that suspends judgment so we can meet the real, live human being across from us. Every interaction we have with someone else is an opportunity to show up with kindness and generosity. These seemingly small or inconsequential acts can often have a profound impact on our well-being and our relationship to the world.

Owen Ó Súilleabháin lives the belief that art has the power to awaken the most dynamic and creative aspects of ourselves in the world, regardless of whether or not we identify as “artists.” He's a singer, composer, and a teacher who has collaborated with world-class artists including Steven Spielberg, Russell Crowe, Nigel Kennedy, the Chieftains, and David Whyte.

He’s usually found working alongside his brother, Mícheál, and his mother, Nóirín. Together the trio co-founded the Dámh Imeall — translation: the (h)Edge School — rooted in an ancient tradition of hedge schooling that emerged under the brutal repression of British rule in Ireland.

Owen invites us to make contact with ourselves, our origins, and our unassailable place in the world when we feel isolated, lonely, or alienated. To recognize that there is always a home for us to come back to.

Do you ever ask yourself, “What can I do in the face of these deep, pervasive social, cultural, and spiritual dilemmas that our species has faced and will continue to face in the decades and centuries to come?”Stephen Cope’s latest work The Dharma in Difficult Times dives deep into this question. He weaves ancient wisdom from the Bhagavad Gita together with an exploration of the lives of eight different people over the course of the past ~240 years. People who - in the face of colonialism, enslavement, subjugation, oppression, and racism - found a way to listen to their own inner wisdom and take action that rippled throughout their communities and through the world.

The book taught me that at every level of our lives there is an opportunity to abide by the quiet inner voice inside of us. If we're willing to slow down enough to hear it, we can find our way towards a deep sense of purpose that will carry us through our lifetime and weave its way into the lives of many generations to follow.Stephen is the author of a number of books that have had a profound impact on how I relate to my sense of purpose and calling in the world, such as Yoga and the Quest for the True Self, Soul Friends: The Deep Power of Human Connection, andThe Great Work of Your Life. He is also a personal mentor and friend, and it’s safe to say The Wonder Dome wouldn’t exist if not for the invitations he’s given me to listen to my own quiet inner voice and find my calling.

So I hope this conversation helps you find your way to your own calling in these difficult times; to the beautiful possibility that you are participating in **something that has existed long before you and will carry on long after you.

My guest today is Ariel Burger: scholar, artist, poet, musician, rabbi, professor, nonprofit leader, and former student of Nobel Peace Prize winner and Holocaust survivor, Elie Wiesel.

Ariel is an incredibly playful, creative, and devoted servant of the public good. He is the author of Witness: Lessons from Elie Wiesel's Classroom. Elie Wiesel was perhaps one of the most important voices for the power of memory and witness to nourish and protect the parts of our lives that are most important for who we are as a species. His work stands as a warning about who we become if we are unwilling to face the fears and underlying forces that shape us, and also a celebration of who we can become if we're willing to stand in witness.Through The Witness Institute, Ariel carries on that lineage of helping people remember where we come from and what we've been through. His work awakens us to generations of suffering and also invites us to receive the generations of gifts and heirlooms we’ve inherited. It’s from this stance that we can enter true boundary-crossing dialogue with the capacity to learn, collaborate and grow as opposed to the impulse to defeat, dominate, and destroy.

I for one want to live in the kind of world that Ariel and his colleagues, mentors, students, and community members are helping to imagine for us. Dig in and enjoy!

I’m excited to have Sam Chase on the show today. Sam is one of the most gifted mindfulness & meditation practitioners I have ever met. He is the author of a wonderfully rich book called Yoga and the Pursuit of Happiness. It is a deep, dense, and humorous exploration of ancient wisdom from the Bhagavad Gita and the Yoga Sutras, paired with the latest research in neurobiology and mindfulness.

I had the good fortune of working with him as part of Kripalu’s RISE program. He played a key role in designing the program’s rigorous curriculum, weaving together the ancient mystical wisdom embodied in Kripalu's lineage with the modern Western medical research that demonstrates the massive impact that mindfulness practices can have on our physical and mental well being.

Mindfulness practices help us meet reality as it is, giving us way more capacity to respond to the moment with creativity and possibility - while also being deeply compassionate for all of the ways in which we suffer and struggle in the face of both personal and systemic forces that harm us. Our conversation is a deep, thoughtful, and heartfelt exploration of what it means to show up for life at the places where we have the agency to take action and the awareness necessary to act with wisdom.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said that “language is fossil poetry.” If that's true, then Báyò Akómoláfé is one of the most remarkable archaeologists and excavators of language's hidden meanings and of our shared human past.

What I love about Báyò is his capacity to reformulate, reimagine, reconfigure, and remember. He works with language in a way that deepens our understandings of what's true and real, and also what is untrue and unreal. He weaves those understandings together to help us move towards the boundaries of conventional life, where we might truly learn, grow, and discover. He's an author, a speaker, a teacher. He's also the executive director of The Emergence Network and the chief host of the wildly popular online/offline course and festival, we will dance with mountains. But another way we might talk about Báyò is that he's a self-styled trans-public intellectual, which is a concept imagined together with and inspired by a much more ancient idea of a shamanic priesthood of the Yoruba healer trickster Eshu, who we talk about in our conversation.

It's possible that you'll hear some of Báyò's formulations and be struck with a sense of, "what does that mean?" In fact, I hope that’s the case! And I invite you to deepen into that encounter. That when faced with the unknown, you’re not immediately and unconsciously repulsed by it. Rather, you stop and ask, **"What is the trick here? What is hiding inside these words? What is waiting to break open a belief or way of seeing that I need to let go of? That no longer serves me or the world?"

Ben Preston is an Ulsterman from Northern Ireland who currently lives and works across Australia and New Zealand as a regenerative engineer and designer. Regenerative designers think about what is it to make a space that comes to life and invites people in. One that invites people to name their biggest hopes, dreams, and fears, connect around them, and in the process, take care of and support each other. As a facilitator, I'm often thinking about those things purely in the context of how two people might talk or interact with each other. But Ben is thinking about it through the lens of what is it to build a space that allows for that.

I was introduced to Ben through another wonderful guest, Jeff Hull. He said Ben is working with deep ideas about what it is to be in community in ways that allow for our highest and best to come through. That’s where our conversation starts: locating ourselves in the world, and the places where we and our ancestors came from. I follow Ben on this journey to embracing his longing for connection in a way that allowed him to be true to himself, but also allowed him to begin to walk with and talk across boundaries of identity, ethnicity, and culture.

Ben lives at the heart of this beautiful paradox that we can be uniquely anchored in where we come from and who we are in a way that actually allows us to connect with others who are uniquely where they come from and who they are. Rather than seeing those borders as divisions or sources of conflict, **we can see them as the spaces where worlds meet, and where new possibilities emerge.

Those of you who have been listening for a while know that I care deeply about the creative process. About the ways in which insight can come to us from the most unexpected places. One of our opportunities as human beings is to show up for whatever life brings. Carrie Newcomer is someone who embodies that as fully as any of us might hope for.

Carrie is a songwriter, a recording artist, a performer, and an educator. She co-hosts the podcast, The Growing Edge, with one of my mentors and heroes Parker Palmer. She makes gorgeous music and poetry, and she has been described as a "prairie mystic" by the Boston Globe. As “someone who asks, in her art and music, all of the right questions” in Rolling Stone magazine.

If you care at all about treating the people you love with more grace and respect or navigating complex scenarios with more humility and openness to possibility, then this conversation is for you.

Allie Middleton is deeply attuned to the future possibilities that might be. She has been meditating and practicing yoga for over 45 years and is the author of Yoga Radicals - a curated set of inspiring stories from 36 pioneers in the field. The book emerged from a conference that brought together a collection of a truly remarkable and diverse set of yoga practitioners from around the world.

As a certified yoga teacher myself, I'm aware of the way in which our culture has reduced yoga to a purely physical set of practices to stretch, build strength, and develop resilience and calm. While that is true, it’s only one tiny aspect of a much deeper, multifaceted prism of possibility that yoga practitioners are committed to.

Allie describes yoga as a way to move from "me consciousness" to "we consciousness," the recognition that all of us are sharing one moment in our one planet's history, and it's possible to embark on a path of social change through personal transformation. The 36 amazing folks that she interviews in her book represent the diverse ways in which we can begin to listen to what's here in our minds and hearts without trying to plan, strategize, fix, or save.

If you feel some sense of that there's more to yoga than getting your stretch on and breaking a good sweat - that in fact there are unbreakable threads that connect all of us in the midst of the many stories that divide us and position us as opponents - you've got to check out Yoga Radicals by Allie. And this conversation is a good starting point.

In all aspects of her work and life, Tiffany Wen beautifully models the capacity to share our stories with authenticity and vulnerability. As a yoga teacher, as an activist, as a podcast host, as a storyteller. In all of those contexts, she's helping people tap into inner wisdom and actually listen instead of repressing it or ignoring it.

She hosts the Alt-Normal, a podcast centering on diversity as both a beautiful and absolutely critical force for reimagining our future as we work to build a post-pandemic world that's actually worth fighting for.

She's also the co-founder of Resonance, a marketing agency that helps people bring out authentic truths that resonate with others. These inner resonances allow her clients to share their work in a way that truly makes a difference in the lives of the people they serve.

And she's also the author of a wonderful article about how she's curing the cancer she never had through epigenetic science. It explores the ways Tiffany reimagined and deepened her own relationship with her body after a genetic test revealed that she carried a gene that has a very high statistical correlation with breast cancer.

At the beginning of our conversation, Tiffany shared with me that she was having her period. This inner rhythm was understandably impacting her emotionally and physiologically. Past iterations of herself might not have shared that with me. But instead, she chose to share openly because her healing journey taught her to ask the question:

What becomes possible when we listen to our bodies and use that as a way to navigate our lives?

One of the tragic taboos of our male-dominated culture is our discomfort with human bodies; women's bodies in particular. If you're listening, particularly if you’re male-identifying, and you find yourself uncomfortable talking about things related to women's bodies in a way that isn't about objectifying them or sexualizing them - but simply to just be present to who they are and what they're living with - then I hope you stick with this conversation.

Mattias Olsson is a remarkable independent documentary filmmaker and the creator of Campfire Stories, making films that touch the roots of change. His films invite us into the lives of people who are actively imagining and creating a world of ecological balance and human sanity.

Campfire Stories ascribes to something called the gift economy, the understanding that the beauty that any one of us can bring into the world is infinitely valuable. But at the same time, it may be infinitely inaccessible to some, because we live in an economy driven by money. So Mattias decided to offer these films at whatever donation the person watching could afford. It is a remarkable way of thinking about the way people connect with and exchange meaning with each other. Through trading. Through sharing. Through gift.

And his films are truly a gift. They serve paths towards a future that is waiting for us if we’re willing to let go of what we know. Mattias and the people he documents are standing outside the cultural norms that many of us assume to be reality. They show us that we could build communities where we see each other not as units in a transaction, but rather as full beings with gifts and ideas that will add immeasurable value to our lives.

This conversation is a wonderful look into how an artist reckons with and engages with the questions that move him, and also points towards what's possible when we step into something that calls to us, even if we’re terrified of leaving behind the story we've been sold as we’ve grown up.

Michael J. Bobbitt is the executive director of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, working to elevate cultural life across the state with an emphasis on improving arts education, promoting diversity, and encouraging excellence in the Arts, Humanities, and Sciences.

In our conversation, Michael shares that he is actually moving away from language like “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” because it is inadequate to describe our collective task at hand. Instead, he is moving towards language like “anti-oppression” and “anti-supremacy.” He speaks to what might be possible if we can fully step into the promises of that language.

This conversation dances between creative exploration and pragmatic realities. Michael threads these two poles together so skillfully because he is himself a remarkably accomplished artist and leader. As former Artistic Director of the New Repertory Theater, and award-winning director of dozens of plays. And as a leader, he has worked tirelessly to elevate the experience of artists around the country.

Michael is standing for a world in which people of all identities who feel called into the artistry and culture-making work of creating new futures can answer that call. Together, we investigate what might be possible if we stop hiding from the systems of oppression that have been built over centuries. Instead, we can face them with compassion and work to dissolve them. In so doing, we could actually unleash our full creative potential as a species and build something truly beautiful together.

The first time I had the good fortune to meet Lawrence Barriner II, I was so deeply touched and moved that I immediately invited him to come on this podcast. We spent about 45 minutes together and we went deeper in our sharing than I suspect some people get a chance to do in even their most intimate friendships (which is its own kind of tragedy).

Lawrence offered the very unique and simple invitation of giving each of us 10 minutes to tell our story. What he did with that invitation to share his story and invite me to share mine was model his belief in the power of love to create justice and the power of story to make new worlds possible.Lawrence is the opposite of an escapist - someone living in an imagined realm so that we don't have to face reality. He is a lineage keeper and culture maker, inviting all of us to step towards possible futures that we can only envision if we create this space where we can grieve, heal, and imagine something new.He does this work both one-on-one and in groups, particularly around the intersections of white supremacy and toxic patriarchy, helping men of all identities and body types step into these questions of power, privilege, and possibility. But he’s also someone who can think at vast network scales. He's researched extensively into systems of justice and systems of nourishment. **If you’re ready to step into the possibilities for the future, then buckle up :^) This one is a beauty.

Robert Hanig is a pioneer in the field of systems thinking and systems sensing. He's been doing this work for decades, helping organizations and groups of people more deeply understand the self-evident interconnectedness of everything that they do. He says at one point in our conversation, if it feels like your system is dysfunctional, you need to start paying closer attention because the system you live in is perfectly designed to get exactly the results that it's getting. This reorientation invites us towards a recognition that we are both participants in and creators of our reality. The fact that we live in interconnected systems is both a new and ancient way of understanding how the universe works. If you have an instinct that events on the news, or on the global stage, or in your office workplace are connected in ways that aren’t always obvious, then Robert is the kind of person you want to be learning from.

In many ways, we barely scratch the surface in this conversation. But even scratching the surface of these ideas is to walk away with more depth of understanding than mainstream thinking has to offer us - about our work, our families, our identities, our societies, and the nature of reality.

Today I have the pleasure of interviewing the power duo of Shannon Lucas and Tracey Lovejoy, co-founders of Catalyst Constellations. These two are true forces of nature.

Catalysts are the kind of people who have a vision and also have the energy, skill, and persistence to bring that vision to life - often at a pace that can leave other people spinning if they’re not careful. Catalyst Constellations is about helping people like this. People who identify as change-makers and activators. People who are committed to making a massive difference in the wicked civilizational, social, global problems we're facing.

Because if you’re a catalyst and you're not careful, you can easily burn out. In their book, Move Fast. Break Shit. Burn Out, they remind us that staying connected to the things that anchor you and drive you are critical both to your livelihood and to whatever mission you're taking a stand for. And they envision a world where a web of catalytic change-makers stretches out across the globe, supporting, nourishing, and championing each other as they work to imagine and create a more beautiful world.

As you read Move Fast. Break Shit. Burn Out. and as you listen to this conversation, you may discover that there's this identity you hold as a catalyst that you've never had a word for before. The good news is that there’s a community of catalysts just like you. Shannon and Tracey have been calling them in through their work.

Robert Stephenson is a coach, trainer, mentor, and inspirational speaker. For a number of years, he was the director for coaching at Animas, one of the most diversified and impactful coaching schools in UK and Europe. He has a deeply humanistic approach to his work that's grounded in his clear love of human beings and the ways in which we can engage with all aspects of ourselves to write and rewrite the stories of our lives.

Before arriving to the world of coaching and human development, Robert devoted years of his life training and performing as an actor and mime artist. This led to his capacity to recognize that we are all, in a sense, operating in a theater of our own minds and hearts, and also in the co-created theater of culture and society. Robert invites us into the possibility that we can play our “roles” beautifully in a way that enlivens our relationship to the world and activates our highest potential.

If you are exploring your own roles in your life, this conversation has the potential to open or unlock a door that up until now had simply been invisible for you. Robert’s deep attention to the diversity of life - diversity of experience, neurodiversity, the diversity of how we are physiologically and neurobiologically wired, diversity of identity, culture, or race - invites us into a fuller understanding of who we are and how we are in the world.

Dorie Clark is seemingly unstoppable. She's been named one of the top 50 business thinkers in the world. She's been recognized as the number one communication coach in the world. She's a consultant, a keynote speaker. She teaches Exec Ed at Duke University and Columbia Business School. She's authored multiple books, including Entrepreneurial You (which, in part, inspired this podcast, thanks to her wisdom and insight on the power of making a commitment over time).

If you’re at all like me, you might read all of that and think something like "Dang, how could I ever accomplish all THAT?"Well, her latest book, The Long Game, is all about the often invisible work that goes into producing the “overnight success.” Because every overnight success is (at least!) 10 years in the making. We don’t often get to see that invisible work, which is why we often overestimate what we can do in a year, but underestimate what we can do in 10.

In addition to Dorie's effervescent brilliance, I want you to touch into the recognition that if there's some seemingly unreachable dream you’re holding out hope for, you can give yourself permission to imagine it as a 10+ year commitment. Not something that needs to happen now, but something that could happen by virtue of the small, achievable choices that you could make right here at this moment.

My guest today is the wise, generous, courageous soul, Parker Palmer. You'll hear him touch into his sense of how he was born into the world and how that shaped him moving through life. And how, at age 82, he continues to reckon with the big questions of who we are as a people and what it is to take a stand for what you believe in.

As he says in his most recent book, “Old is just another word for nothing left to lose. A time to take bigger risks on behalf of the common good.” What can those risks look like, both big and small? What is it to invest ourselves, our bodies, our livelihood into ‘those things that we can't not do?’

To listen to this conversation is to take a small drink from a deep well of wisdom. May it nourish and sustain you as we all journey together towards the future.

Elizabeth Segran is a senior staff writer at Fast Company, and her work has appeared in a broad range of publications, including The Atlantic, Foreign Policy, Foreign Affairs, the Chronicle of Higher Education, and Salon.

We focus the bulk of our conversation on her fantastic book, The Rocket Years, which explores the impact that choices we make in our 20s have through the rest of our life. Having grown up traveling around the world with parents from different cultural backgrounds, Liz stands for what's possible when we begin to relate to culture as a fluid, dynamic, movable thing. In the same way, our identity can be fluid, dynamic, and movable. At the same time, by paying attention to where and how that fluidity moves and shapes us, we can discover things that are foundational, true, and consistent across our lives.

By conventional measures, Liz’s journey has not been a “sensible” one. But if you look deeper, it makes beautiful sense. For instance, her studies of traditional Indian poetry during her Ph.D. program mirrors the cultural investigations that enabled her to write The Rocket Years and now, in her current work as a journalist, make her uniquely attuned to the questions that other people miss. **She embodies the power of following the threads - the through lines - that point us towards something essential about ourselves and our unique gifts.

I feel really lucky that Schuyler Brown and I found our way to each other through some beautiful synergies. She is a dear friend of David Sauvage (Episode #52), and she co-facilitated a sacred ceremony for one of my dear friends, Elizabeth, daughter of Azima Jackson (Episode #67). Realizing this, we touched on the power of synergies and paying attention to what’s emerging in each moment to shape our path through life.

Schuyler brings a fierce commitment to our future as a species and to what might be possible for us if we're willing to face and meet the truths of reality that we might otherwise numb ourselves to. Her work is deeply trauma-informed and it is also deeply informed by nature. As a result, she brings a wonderfully clear-eyed, open-hearted, grounded approach to spirituality and identity. The title of this episode is drawn from a beautiful Rumi poem that Schuyler reads during our conversation, which speaks to the power of waking up to life. So if you are sitting with this question of what it means to enliven yourself rather than numb yourself - or even if you have a sense that something's off with life, but you're not sure what - then the space that Schuyler helps create is a space for you.

p.s. stick around towards the end, Schuyler leads us in a powerful meditation that connects body, heart, and mind to the earth and to future possibilities.Get Connected:The Wonder Dome Newsletter http://bit.ly/3dTfdPi

I found my way to Azima Jackson through a dear friend of mine, Elizabeth, who reached out and said, Hey, I love what you're doing with the podcast. You've got to talk to my mom. And she was right!

Her mom, Azima, is a remarkable soul who has evolved into an elder committed to questions of identity and purpose. She is an interfaith minister who explores the pains that life brings us and the ways in which we often attempt to run from them. But instead of running from these pains, what if we viewed them as invitations towards deeper self-knowing and deeper possibility? This is at the root of Azima’s work with spirituality, music, and healing.

She serves as a reminder of what might become possible if we remember to honor and pay attention to the gifts of life and old age, and the ways those gifts can travel forward to those younger among us. Stick around to the end of the conversation for a private musical performance from Azima. She refers to music as a kind of life force for her, and I know from my own experience, that music has been a life force for me too.

Dr. Irle Goldman is a licensed clinical psychologist and psychotherapist who has been teaching students at Lesley University and Cambridge College for 50+ years. He brings to his work - and to this conversation - a gift of loving presence. This gift of being curious about what's arising in the moment in a way that allows all of us to see new possibilities in our lives.

But what was really fun today was to hear him start to unpack his own emerging theory about what's actually happening in psychotherapy. In that relationship between the person who's seeking healing and the person who's offering healing, and how much really exists in the relationship between the two.

This is a wide-ranging, playful, expansive, oceanic conversation. It exists with the possibility that we are all connected and making waves in each other's lives. The more that we can swim into that and get curious about that - as opposed to trying to control it or repress it - the more we open up to a world of possibility that is diverse and beautiful, and **allows for the widest range of human joy that is available to us.

As a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Emory University's School of Medicine, Dr. Brian Dias seeks to understand how our neurobiology, physiology, and our psyches are impacted by stress and trauma, and how parental legacies of stress and trauma influence future generations.Today, we focus on the research that Brian and his team are doing around the remarkable field of epigenetics, the process by which genes in our DNA turn “on'“ or “off,” and the triggers that cause them to do so. What’s amazing to me is that before we were even a gleam in the metaphorical eye of our parents, things that happened to them can show up in our DNA. These impacts, which can be both beneficial and traumatic, are carried forward through the sperm and egg cells that eventually come to make the embryo that becomes the multicellular complexity that is you and I.

Brian is very careful not to jump to any outsize conclusions about what the research might tell us, but he's also open to exploring what might be possible for us as a speciesif we begin to understand these legacies of both intergenerational trauma and intergenerational gifts. He uses the metaphor of ‘The Book of Life’ to point towards the incredibly rich depth and complexity encoded in this intergenerational story.

By understanding and interpreting our own individual chapters in this infinite book, and by seeing the greater story we are all a part of, we can begin to heal from and let go of the traumas that no longer belong to us. From there, we can begin **to embrace the greatest and best of who we are.

Richard Barrett is a provocateur of human potential. He has committed his life to helping the human species evolve. And, if I’m honest with myself, I expected him to be a solemn elder espousing wisdom from up on high. But he surprised me by bringing a lovely joie de vivre to our conversation, spiced with a dash of "the devil may care" attitude. As I reflect back, it’s clear to me that this energy serves as a wonderful complement to the deep work he's doing in the world. The work of advancing the evolution of human consciousness on a global scale.

I suppose you have to be pretty damn playful if you're working at that level :-)

Through the Barrett Academy for the Advancement of Human Values and the Humanity Awareness Initiative, Richard explores what it means for our individual and collective consciousness to continue to evolve as we meet the realities of today and envision beautiful futures for tomorrow. His aim is to help more people reach the level of consciousness where we’re aware of ourselves as one human species, making choices that will ripple across nations and ultimately into our collective civilization and biosphere.

As you listen, I hope you get a taste of what it is to relate to yourself and your place in the world with this level of dynamism and complexity. A truer sense of what it is to be alive at this moment on Earth, and of **what we're all capable of if we commit ourselves to the lifelong journey of growth and evolution.

My conversation with Netaly Ophir Flint was an exciting meeting of multiple worlds. She and I have worked together as part of a leadership development organization called KONU that she helps to lead. She's an amazing consultant, coach, teacher, and entrepreneur, and she also has an incredible personal journey.

Our conversation centers around our shared passion for adaptive leadership, a revolutionary approach to leadership that's rooted in a deeper understanding of how change actually happens. It was pioneered by Ron Heifetz at the Harvard Kennedy School and has been taken up by an incredible number of amazing practitioners around the world. And it's a core piece of the work that we do together at KONU.

To get there, we explore Netaly’s purposeful, personal journey into her identity as a leader who builds bridges between worlds, helping Jewish people around the world imagine and live into a common history and identity. As both Israeli-Jew and an American-Jew, Netaly has developed a unique ability to bridge diverse worlds as she works to build this vibrant global network.

If you've been sitting with the changes that this year has forced, and you've been wondering where and how to go next, this conversation has something for you.

My guest today is the singular Raj Sisodia, a founding member of the Conscious Capitalism movement and co-author of the book by the same name, along with Whole Foods founder John Mackey. Raj is a prolific author who has written a number of books, but his most recent one, The Healing Organization, is the centerpiece for our conversation.

Raj makes a powerful case for a deeper orientation in our global economic systems. An orientation towards people, purpose, and impact, where profit might follow as a wonderful bonus, but is not the name of the game. He asks what it is to be an organization that's not only doing good in the world but is actually healing the world? As an individual modeling change from within for himself, Raj is pointing us towards a path of collective change from within the systems we've already built. To build something new inside of something old. **To do business in a way that actually heals ourselves and the world.

Wesley Morris is a pastor, facilitator, and mentor. He extends an invitation for all of us to walk towards the parts of life that cause us the most fear or uncertainty. Towards the deeper, emergent truth waiting for us in the so-called “darkness.”Wesley is the director of programs and strategy for the Southern Vision Alliance, working with on-the-ground activists who are facing systemic racism all over the South. These are people working with the question, How do we evolve our society so that we can move past systemic racism and truly reach a place of freedom for all people?Together, we explore the question of what it is for us to face the “darkness” of our life. To face those places we think we know so that we can, in fact, step in the direction of the unknown in service of our best self. In service of wonder. In service of connection with each other.

All of this rests on the possibility of becoming ever more awarethat we are not in control of life. We are life. The more we allow life to express, the more that possibility for healing, growth, for change, for what Wesley calls “unconditional love, belief, and identity” can emerge.

Brad Rowe is doing incredible work at the forefront of cannabis policy and research. He is committedto making this emerging domain of entrepreneurship a space where people who have faced the worst injustices of the war on drugs have access to the entrepreneurial upsides of the legalization of cannabis.

In addition to his own venture, Brad is a lecturer in Public Policy at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. He has also worked for over a decade with homeless populations and homeless job seekers, teaching them courses in stress management, goal setting, and relapse prevention. Before all of this, Brad had a remarkable, multifaceted career in Hollywood, including the GLAAD Media Award-winning film Shelter.

We explore all of that together, and the ways in which his early work as an actor and his current work as a policymaker actually weave together into a greater coherent whole.

By hearing Brad’s story, I hope you’ll tune into the beautiful reality that life will never be a linear journey. If you listen to your curiosity, follow the questions that are waiting for you, and pay deep attention to the lives of everyone around you - especially those lives that culture might tell you to ignore - the possibility for discovering your own path can truly emerge.

Hana Ramat has a fascinating background in psychology, psychotherapy, mindfulness, and human development. Over the past 10+ years, she's worked with folks of all ages and backgrounds; from adults with severe and persistent mental illness at Bellevue Hospital in New York to children at Albert Einstein's College of Medicine’s early childhood center, and many in between.

Most recently, she’s shifted her attention to work with women who are struggling through life and are navigating a journey to self-actualization. She helps them reckon with and move through the unique challenges that women face as they navigate a patriarchal culture that prizes dominance, relentless competition, and emotional repression.

At the root of her work is the invitation for women (and, really, for all of us) to step into their bodies and into the pleasure and power that comes with being alive, without shame. The pleasure of love, romance, and sex. The power of being a leader and claiming space in the world. The way pleasure and power work together to allow for healing, wholeness, and resilient inner strength.

If you care at all about a world where women thrive, and a world where all of us - men, women, and everyone else along the gender spectrum - have access to more of the innate feminine energy and the capacities and sensitivities that come with that, then this conversation is for you.

Dr. Jeffrey Hull has been something of a “mentor at-a-distance” for me. His book, Flex: The Art and Science of Leadership in a Changing World, provided a framework for leadership that I had an intuitive sense for but didn’t quite know how to describe. Reading his book was an ‘a-ha!’ moment for me. I hadn't heard anyone else put into words in the way that he did. So having him on the show and exploring with him first-hand was a real privilege.

His book explores the distinction between alpha leadership and beta leadership. Beta leadership is a way of leading that allows for more flexibility, inclusivity, warmth, and perspective-taking. Jeff compels leaders who are limited by an ‘alpha-only’ approach to take a wider stance, to develop the emotional and intellectual agility to either lead from beta, or step back so that beta leaders can step forward when they’re most needed.

However, even the binary between alpha and beta is a kind of constraint. Jeff named that binary limitation in our conversation, and we started to dive more deeply into the question of what it is to be a meta leader. A meta leader is someone who is neither alpha nor beta. Someone who draws from all of the different perspectives available so that they can show up in a way that is in service of the greatest good.If you care at all about leadership, human development, about what it is to meet the current moment with agility, grace, new perspectives, and a deeper sense of what's possible for our collective future, then this conversation is for you.

Brooke Lavelle is the co-founder and president of the Courage of Care Coalition, a nonprofit that helps people from across cultures, backgrounds, and identities work together at the intersection of compassionate inquiry, self-discovery, mindfulness, and spirituality.

Our conversation today dives into the question of what it is for us to be together, not in spite of our differences, but rather, as a direct extension of and integration of our differences. Coming together in a way that allows each of us to be who we uniquely are, while also being in true community with other people who have their own story, journey, and identities.

Liz Moyer Benferhat is a healer with a big question and a big dream: How do we heal ourselves collectively in the face of the damage and change that our entire planet is facing as our climate and culture shifts? How do we take care of each other and care for the world that we are a part of? Her dream is that we find a way to answer those questions through our individual journeys of healing, which can become our collective journey.

Liz draws from an incredibly rich and deep set of practices and disciplines. She has a background in systems design, applied research, and international sustainable development. She also has deep lived experience facilitating community-based approaches to emotional healing and relational consciousness. From psychology to spirituality to the human body, Liz brings together all of these elements to create spaces where people can come together, grieve for what they've lost, and find a way forward in the face of all that we still have to reckon with. This conversation is a beautiful inquiry into what collective healing is. You'll hear us working with that edge because it's something that has never been done on a global scale before and that's how big Liz's dream is.

David Sauvage is an empath, deeply attuned to the emotional states of people around him. He's best known for his performance art doing intuitive readings in front of audiences. His journey towards embracing his abilities - not only to understand other people's emotions but also to help them understand their own - is a remarkable one, fraught with challenges, struggle, loss. And, ultimately, a humble embrace of all the things he thought he was meant to run from.

This resonates deeply with me. Whenever I find myself trying to repress or distance myself from my emotions, the outcomes are never good. David's invitation in this conversation is to confront that which we're most afraid of, or that which causes us the most pain. In a world so committed to comfort, convenience, and surface harmony, this deeply counter-cultural stance has the power to transform who we are.

If you care at all about expressing yourself fully and helping others do the same, this conversation is for you. I can't wait for you to get a taste of what becomes possible as David and I enter the church of what wants to happen.

Nadja Taranczewski is a transformational coach, and I can attest firsthand to the power and impact of her work. I did two coaching sessions with Nadja a year ago and I still notice the impact of those sessions literally almost every day. She is truly someone who knows how to hold a transformative space. She navigates the process of taking a possibility and getting it all the way down to the cellular level with such grace and commitment.

Our conversation today primarily explores what she's doing with CUmoney, and the ways in which we have built for ourselves a culture that holds up money as the golden ticket when it is, in fact, the golden cage.We ask, what might it mean to shift to a world where resources, money, time, attention, and energy all start to converge where they’re most needed.* A world where we are consciously connected to each other. A world where we live in what Nadja calls a conscious tribe.

This conversation is important to me because of the impact Nadja has had in my life, and I trust she’ll impact yours, either by listening to this conversation or going deeper into the work that she's doing in the world. She works to help people live with more ability to see themselves, to be compassionate towards themselves and others, to take ownership over their life, and to engage in truly deep and open dialogue with each other in service of a more conscious world.

Well, it's hard to believe it, but it's been one year since I’ve launched The Wonder Dome. It was shortly after we went into lockdown here in the States, in April of 2020. It's now April 2021, and you are about to listen to the 50th episode.

Today’s guests are no strangers to The Wonder Dome. They’re three distinctly talented, distinctly unique, and yet also deeply connected human beings: Francis Briers (Ep 10), Cyrus Sharad (Ep 12), and Lee Chambers (Ep 39). As you listen in, you'll hear incredibly deep themes around wellness, purpose, reality, meaning, and identity naturally emerge in our conversation

It felt like the perfect way to celebrate 50 incredible conversations with incredible humans by bringing some of these incredible humans together. I hope that wherever you are right now, there is someplace for you to anchor your hope and some source of fierceness to tap into that will help carry you through all of the challenges still to come.

Pearl Bates is an incredibly talented visual artist. John Cleese, of Monty Python fame, has referred to her art as some of the most original work he's ever seen. That's no understatement. It takes inspiration from all kinds of places: street style, haute couture, music, film, theater, dance, nature. These incredible ingredients come together in Pearl's work to produce sensual, atmospheric, magically real paintings, drawings, and illustrations that evoke emotion, intensity, and aliveness.

Pearl has exhibited her artwork all over the world, from fashion illustrations, to children’s works, to city murals. As you’re listening, I highly encourage you to check out Pearl’s incredible portfolio. As you hear her discuss her devotional approach to creativity, you’ll also be able to see and feel the aliveness that comes through her art. Truly special stuff.

Tochi Onyebuchi is the award-winning author of several works of speculative fiction. His most recent novel, Riot Baby, strikes at the heart of our collective reckoning with systemic racism. It is a searing, powerful, and deeply insightful take on what it is to be Black in America, on our prison industrial complex, on what it is to have power and freedom.

The title of this episode is a subtle nod to the science fiction that influenced Tochi’s own writing. It also evokes the powers of Ella, one of the book’s main protagonists. Riot Baby explores the question of what a young Black girl like Ella would do if she grew up to discover she had powers far beyond what most of us could imagine. It's an incredible work of fiction that brings to life the moment in a way that no other book I've read right now is doing.

Tochi is a deeply thoughtful human being who has some real wisdom to share on how we move in this world of ours. On how we live, on how we connect. If you care at all about questions of systemic racism, systemic injustice, on what it is to reach reconciliation - if that's even possible as a country as a result of our long history and legacy of slavery and racial oppression - then this conversation is for you.

p.s. and be sure to look for Tochi’s forthcoming work of non-fiction (S)kinfolk, which speaks to Tochi’s own emotional and intellectual journey through his own education in Blackness. You can pre-order it here.

If you care about what it means to skillfully and meaningfully navigate inter-group conflict towards resolution, connection, and new possibility, then this conversation is for you. Gabe Wilson is the founder of Developmental Design. He's a leadership coach and organizational consultant, and he specializes in diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

He is also the co-author of Compassionate Conversations: How to Speak and Listen from the Heart. If you’ve been with The Wonder Dome for a while, then you’ve heard Episode 25 and my interview with Kim Loh, who co-wrote the book with Gabe and Diane Musho Hamilton.

Gabe and I dive in right where my conversation with Kim ended: the intimacy that exists at the heart of conflict. Within a conflict, possibilities exist for new ground to emerge, new foundations that might actually bring us closer together. But we only get there by understanding what makes us distinct.

Gabe calls this work Freedom and Fairness. Together, we explore what it means to cultivate that freedom and fairness in diverse inter-group contexts that holdseemingly competing agendas, histories, and visions for the future. The Wonder Dome Newsletter http://bit.ly/3dTfdPi

Tai Sunnanon is a whirling dervish of a human, incredibly energetic, driven, persistent, intelligent, creative, and caring. He's the founder and CEO of Strategic Insights Group, a mission-driven consulting firm based out of LA. He's a life coach and executive coach. He's a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He is involved with COVID vaccine distribution across Southern California.

And frankly, all of that is just the tip of the iceberg! He has spent the past 25+ years traveling, teaching, and making a difference in the lives of everyone he meets.

But all of that's just his external resume, as Tai likes to call it. He also has this wonderful idea of the internal resume, the journey that each of us go on to become healed and whole. We first met at Harvard while I was in my master’s program. Tai was a doctoral student and a teaching assistant for one of my core courses. I sensed that he was a person of deep integrity and deep intensity. But what I wasn't aware of was howdriven he had been to escape his past rather than to face it.Eventually, Tai turned to meet his past, embrace it, and become who he was called to be. He shares some of that journey here in this wonderfully deep, enriching human-first conversation.

Eric Larson has become a dear friend and colleague over the past year (and what a year!), and I'm really psyched to have him on the show. He's a coach of coaches, working with people like me to master our art and craft, enabling us to show up for our clients by staying deeply attuned to the present moment.

Eric and I first started to deepen our connection when he helped launch something called the Breathing Space in the early days of the pandemic (along with our amazing colleague Sarah Rawz). It was an effort to bring together coaches, healers, and teachers, all offering free spaces where humans could come together to connect, breathe, and get present.

To create these generous community spaces while we were all physically isolated was a clear indicator of Eric’s integrity and care. He’s the kind of person who shows up for people in ways that they might not even know they need until he’s there with them. You're going to get a taste of his gifts today in our conversation. I can assure you, you're going to laugh, you're going to think, you're going to feel. Paul Zonneveld and Mieke Jacobs are the co-authors of the recent book Emergent, which brings a systemic intelligence lens to the questions of how organizations get into and ultimately resolve complex challenges, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions.

Paul and Mieke have both spent decades working with the question of how to help leaders and organizations thrive. What surprised me most about this conversation was the deep attention to history that systemic intelligence brings to these questions of thriving. As Mieke said to me offline, just as human beings store trauma in our bodies, impactful or traumatic events in companies are stored in their visible and invisible structures. These events still show themselves in the internal relations and in the organizational culture.

This deeply resonates with me: that we can understand what's happening in our lives and relationships by tracing the threads back through history to these root events. I've been on my own personal journey to understand my family history, to understand the roots of my own fears, and to heal from and let go of burdens that are no longer mine to carry. To see it applied so elegantly in an organizational context was a masterclass in how to approach organizational understanding in an entirely new way.

If you care at all about what makes groups of people work, you will find this conversation deeply inspiring. Make sure you stick around to the very end because, in addition to my conversation with Paul and Mieke, Mieke reads a beautiful original poem entitled ‘rIVER’ and Paul leads me through an incredible 30-minute meditation focused on ancestral work and tapping into our ancestral field.

Jackie Knechtel is a deeply loving, generous, and brilliant soul. We met at a training together, and from the moment I connected with her presence over Zoom, I said, this person has something happening that I want to know more about. In the months since, we’ve been able to talk about the meaning of life and the future of humanity, and we pretty quickly realized that we needed to just go ahead and press record on these wonderful conversations :-)

Jackie is the co-founder of the Flow Consciousness Institute. Her work is about helping people tap into and unlock their “flow,” a mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual state that all humans have the capacity to enter. She notices connections that most other people miss, and follows them into surprising insights, discoveries, and possibilities about how people work, how life happens, and how we grow and evolve.

On top of all that, we briefly tap into her previous career working with individuals with autism and how she's currently working to revolutionize therapy delivery to support children with special needs. Lot’s of juicy goodness in this one. Enjoy!

Laura Cortese is a Grammy-nominated songwriter, singer, fiddler, and all-around ultra-talented artist. We have such an awesome conversation about where her music comes from. Her music threads together darkness and light, stillness and motion, joy and sorrow. It’s beautiful.

I also had the good fortune of working briefly with Laura and her partner, Kristin Andreassen (who I hope to also get on the show someday) with their Miles of Music program. It’s basically a grown-up summer camp for adults who want to live and breathe music for a week. Having attended, I can say first-hand that it was one of the most joyous weeks of my life, and it reflects what makes Laura so special: her capacity to bring people together and have them make something greater than they ever could on their own. What's more, Laura's newly born baby joins us on this interview. It was my first interview with a fellow working parent who’s juggling the complexity of both showing up for her art and her career and also showing up for her loved ones amidst the pandemic. This conversation is a masterclass in how to do that well. And don’t forget: stick around to the end to hear one of Laura’s songs in its entirety. You won't regret it.

As you'll hear in our conversation, Eddie Turner is an incredibly dynamic and charismatic human being who spends a lot of time and energy working with the question of how leaders lead. He's the author of 140 Simple Messages to Guide Emerging Leaders. He is the founder of the Leadership Excelerator. And he’s the host of the award-winning Keep Leading podcast.

During his journey helping leaders navigate these times of uncertainty, he's emerged with wonderful clarity around the kinds of leadership and organizations that help people from all walks of life thrive. He also speaks beautifully to his own experience as a Black man in America, waking up to and owning his power and unique capacities to serve, and also the ways in which society has inadvertently, or in many cases, intentionally tried to keep him from that power.

As Eddie says, Leadership at its best is inviting everyone to the table who needs to be at the table. This is such a meaningful and illuminating conversation, and I can’t wait for you to hear it.

Gregory Koufacos is the author of the recently released book The Primal Method, which distills his approach to helping men of all ages, particularly young men, work with addiction, move past a place of stuckness or self-doubt and step wholeheartedly into life. He is a believer, and he's made me a believer, in the power of therapy rooted not just in talk, but rooted in action, in our bodies, in movement, and stepping into our natural born desire to live and grow.

As Gregory tells it, every young man has been shown a future in our society that is deeply uninspiring at best and downright nihilistic at worse. In that context, it’s no wonder that so many boys don’t truly grow up to be men. So if there are any young men in your life who are struggling with purpose or identity, with what to live for or how to live for it, then this conversation will impact you. (And frankly, even if you're in your 40s, 50s, or beyond, if you’re still feeling stuck or uncertain about those things, then this conversation is for you too!).

I'm finding it hard to put into words how special this conversation with Lee Chambers was for me. I know I say that about every episode :-) but this one truly was. Lee is an environmental psychologist and well-being consultant. As the founder of Essentialise, he helps bring well-being to the workplace. He's also part of a movement in his hometown of Lancashire, England to bring well-being to every part of his community.

Wellness is such a common word these days. Oftentimes when we hear it, it evokes things like fitness, sleep, eating, meditation, etc. Lee works with all of these things, but he does so in a way that honors the deep complexity and beauty of each and every person. The external stuff we can see, like how often we meditate or go for a run, or what food we put in our bodies, are simply expressions of something deeper inside of us that's longing to come out.

Lee also has this incredible gift for metaphor, so don’t be surprised if you leave this conversation with a new level of zest and energy towards your own mental, physical, and spiritual well-being!

Aaron Finbloom is delightfully hard to pin down. I experience him as a sort of entrepreneur-philosopher-trickster, sitting at this beautiful intersection where a penetrating inquiry into the nature of existence meets an unerring drive to create, to express, to play. His work with The Deep Play Institute and The School of Making Thinking brings artists, scholars, and change-agents together in unexpected and surprising ways. You might describe him as a conversation designer, or a transformational teacher, or an artist of the collective heart.

Whatever language you come up with, suffice to say that Aaron is a really cool, creative, and interesting dude :-) He invites all of us into the question of what might be possible when we engage more deeply, authentically, and creatively with each other. How can we break out of conversational patterns, and through dialogue, how might we start to find new ways of living and being together?

We danced with all of that today, practicing what Aaron preaches by exploring what was happening in our conversation and playing with it in new ways. I hope that you leave today with a sense of that play, with a sense of how else you might start to do things differently the next time you hop on a zoom call, ring up your mom, or connect with a loved one, friend, or stranger.

My first guest to kick off 2021 is Chris Herndon, founder of Growth Mindset Coach and director of coaching for Lucidly, a company working to democratize coaching for all. But as you’ll quickly hear in this conversation, Chris is someone who lives outside labels. And he invites his clients, his peers, and his community members to step outside those labels with him to create new, more expansive and inclusive ways of living together in this world of ours.

This conversation dives deep into what it is to live in community with other people, to truly be with one another in a way that turns all of life into a journey of discovery, growth, service, impact, and commitment. This is about making sense of all the ways in which our society asks us to hide who we really are, and moving towards a newer society that invites us to be who we're meant to be. One that invites us to activate every part of ourselves.

Chris is an enthusiastic, intelligent, deeply thoughtful, and heartfelt human being. And I have no doubt that over the next hour you're going feel that energy from him. We're already kind of cooking on how we might have at least one more conversation on this topic. So if at the end of this conversation you want even more, keep your eyes and your ears peeled. What does it mean to make choices from a place of wisdom, particularly when you're in a position of power? That's at the center of conversation today with Devin Martin, co-founder of Lifestyle Integrity Coaching. The headline of Devin's work is bringing wisdom to power, and he recognizes that the fate of our humanity and our planet hinges on the decisions that we in positions of power and leadership make.

What does it mean to raise our consciousness in a way that enables us to have not only a big impact, but a sustainable, long-term, net positive impact on the futures of our children and grandchildren? These are the kinds of questions that most businesses simply aren't equipped to ask. And Devin's work is about helping them ask it.

This is an incredibly thought-provoking and challenging conversation. I hope it inspires you to sit with the question of where do we go next if we're truly going to bring wisdom to power.

My guest today is Di Ciruolo. She's a diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility consultant with an incredibly inspiring personal story. She helps individuals and organizations look deeply at the cultures they're creating and how to shift those cultures towards a place where true diversity becomes possible.

She's the author of the forthcoming book Ally Up, which is designed to go deeper into her process and methodology for helping individuals and organizations become allies for a more diverse and inclusive culture. Di's life and work stand as a deep and heartfelt commitment towards making the world better for people who have been on the receiving end of the violence and brutality that our society enacts onto too many of us.

Sounds pretty heavy, right? But Di is able to engage with it all from a place of humor and love. That's what struck me most about this conversation: the "both/and." This is both really heavy, and we are capable of living with the same compassion, joy, and love that Di brings to the world. We don't have to choose.

This conversation is for anyone who has the privilege of being identified as white in our society and who is ready to do more as an ally for people of color. I hope that it opens possibilities for where we go next and how we might get there together.

My guest today is Christina Frei, creator of the Innate Marketing Genius program. From the moment we met, Christina instantly tuned in to what it was I was doing in the world. I felt a kinship with her, and it struck me that she was more than just an expert on marketing (which she is, btw).

She's a deeply attuned, spiritual, and creative soul who recognizes that marketing isn't about the right strategy or the right result. It's about being as generous and authentic as you can be so that the right people can find their way to you. At its core, marketing is the art of living in generosity.

In this conversation, we focus on what Christina calls "The Generosity Practice," an approach to meditation that is grounded in compassion, creativity, and intuition. I've personally been following the generosity practice for over six months. It is so inspiring and fun and it totally helps me meet every day with more playfulness and creativity.

If you're in need of some grounding and mindfulness in your life, you're going to want to stick around for the whole conversation. My guest today is a dear friend of mine, Dr. Max Klau. We met nearly a decade ago at a songwriting class at Club Passim in Cambridge, MA, when Max was studying for his doctoral degree at Harvard Graduate School of Education. He's an author, coach, speaker, scholar, leadership development consultant, and a damn good songwriter. He recently published a book called Race and Social Change: A Quest, A Study, A Call to Action.

We explore Max's journey to writing this important book. We also dive into his current work with the New Politics Leadership Academy, a nonprofit dedicated to recruiting and developing military veterans and alumni of national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps to seek political office. And what a time to enter politics! I was deeply inspired to learn more about how Max and his team help people who have devoted their lives to public service step into the political arena.

Max draws on a wide range of scholarship in the realms of leadership and human flourishing, weaving them together with his own experiences and research. What we ultimately arrive at is the truth that how we show up from the inside actively shapes the world around us. Max calls this "the inner flame." If you care at all about what it is to show up for the world as your best self - about igniting and sustaining your own inner flame - then this conversation is for you.

The dynamic, award-winning concert pianist Asiya Korepanova has been immersed in music since she was 4 years old. Since moving to the states from Russia in 2012, she's played at Carnegie Hall, the Phillips Collection, the International Miami Piano Festival, and countless others.

She's the only pianist currently performing Franz Liszt's 24 Etudes as a single program, and one of the few to tout a concerto that features over 60 works. If you have no idea what this means, it will suffice to say that she is a total badass in the realms of piano and classical music. But she's more than just an interpreter or performer of past tradition. She recognizes that many of us have been put off from classical music by virtue of history, elitism, culture, and stereotypes.

An accomplished composer in her own right, as well as a talented visual artist and poet, she weaves together these threads to reimagine and reinvigorate traditions. Her performances are an invitation to every listener into beauty, wonder, and magic, regardless of your background.

In her video series Midnight Pieces, she shares 53 beautifully produced and recorded performances of short works. She also founded Music for Minds, a non-profit designed to introduce young people to the depth and energy of classical music.

All in all, she is a soulful, thoughtful, virtuosic player who believes deeply in the power of art to save lives. I trust that this light and power will come through to you when you hear the person behind the piano.

My guest today is Nathan Shultz. He's a coach who helps founders and executives make high impact changes in their lives and careers by connecting purpose and profit. He's a part of the broader Conscious Capitalism movement that's taking root in our country, which I think is all for the better.

He also brings light into the world through his men's work with a group called Evryman, which was featured in The New York Times and GQ Magazine. His work helps to rewrite the definition of 'the everyman' that has taken up residence in our collective consciousness, bringing the best of masculine identities forward while also inviting us to let go of the armor that so many of us think we need to wear.

If you've been listening to past episodes, you know how much I care about the question of what it is to be a conscious man. I've had amazing conversations around this with guests like Robert Mulhall and Yotam Schachter, and now you can add Nathan to the list.

He is a wonderfully caring, heartfelt, and open-minded soul who shows up with deep authenticity and a true commitment to interrogating and evolving our ideas of masculinity, leadership, and purpose. We had a really rich and meaningful conversation, and I got a ton from it. I hope that you do too.

Dr. Srini Pillay is without a doubt one of the most dynamic, brilliant, multi-talented human beings I've had the good fortune to bring on the show. When I think about the life that I'm trying to build for myself, Srini is one of these icons or models that draws me forward. He's an author, a psychiatrist, a brain researcher, a virtual reality entrepreneur, a leadership expert, an accomplished composer and piano player, and an award-winning poet.

Srini is also something of a provocateur. A gleeful trickster who breaks all the stereotypes you might expect around psychotherapy, leadership development, and scientific research. He's relentlessly curious and deeply attuned to the beauty of life, without losing an ounce of compassion for the tragedies of the world and how we can work together to alleviate our suffering.

Our conversation ranges far and wide, touching on the nature of reality and human consciousness, the existential importance of facing our own mortality, the power of saying 'yes' to challenge and 'playing up', and the poetry of everyday life.

Consider this conversation a deep invitation into the mystery, beauty, and wonder of life. If you're looking to unlock your greatest creative energies and possibilities, listen in.

Ray Nayler has been widely hailed as one of the up-and-coming masters of speculative fiction. He has published over fifty stories in preeminent magazines across the realms of science fiction and fantasy, and he is also an established poet, mystery and crime thriller novelist, and comic book author. Not to mention his daily life as a husband, father (of both humans and cats), and as a multi-lingual foreign service officer in Kosovo. His work in Kosovo builds on nearly two decades of service in countries like Russia, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Vietnam.

I first encountered Ray through his short story, "Fire in the Bone," published in Clarkesworld Magazine in January of 2019. It is both a beautiful, suspenseful story and a stark examination of the ways in which imperial culture, colonialism, and slavery brutally injure the humanity of both the oppressed and the oppressors. The story knocked me out of my chair. Watch out for that cutting twist at the end, or it might just do the same for you ;)

What you'll hear today is a wonderful conversation exploring culture, humanity, and identity. We unpack how to move from binary thinking to triadic thinking, and what becomes possible when we approach who we are, what we are, and how we are with more nuance, depth, and creativity.

Listening to Ray is a study in mutability; what it is to change the world and be changed by it in equal measure. I hope that, after hearing this, you'll spend time with his remarkable writings. He's remarkably creative and talented, and just an incredibly smart and thoughtful human being.

Paul Hansen is the lead singer, songwriter, and bandleader for local indie-folk heroes, The Grownup Noise. I've known Paul for over ten years. Not only is he one of the biggest guys I’ve ever met (standing at roughly six and a half feet tall), he has the big heart and soul to match.

He is an incredibly sensitive and nuanced songwriter who tells stories like a painter, with images and impressions that leave you feeling emotions in ways that many pop songs simply aren't capable of. His latest album, Lonely Days, a solo album focusing primarily on synthesizers, has this shade of nostalgia, longing, and loss that hooks you from the top of the first song.

Paul and I dive deep into the creative process, into what it is to be an artist, to discover what it is you're trying to express, to heal yourself through that expression, to share that with others, and the vulnerability and risk that comes with it.

My guest today is the speculative fiction author, futurist, and polymath, Ken Liu. Ken has one of the most beautiful minds I've ever encountered. As a novelist and storyteller, he's claimed just about every award there is here in America for his groundbreaking work in the realms of fantasy and science fiction. He's also received top genre honors in Japan, Spain, France, and many other countries. His work has been adapted into multiple film and television projects, including the Netflix breakout adult animated series LOVE DEATH + ROBOTS and AMC’s Pantheon.

When he's not writing or with his family, you're likely to find him speaking at conferences and universities around the world on topics ranging far and wide, from futurism, cryptocurrency, and the history of technology, to bookmaking, the art of translation, and the mathematics of origami.

Above all, Ken is deeply grounded and committed to the human experience. Kim Loh is a conflict resolution and negotiation specialist, leadership coach, and co-author of the book Compassionate Conversations: How to Speak and Listen from the Heart. Kim cut her teeth as a lawyer in London and Singapore, learning how to negotiate high stakes disputes in international and corporate fields. But she quickly realized that she wasn't satisfied with these ways of resolving conflict.

A huge turning point came when she began to incorporate Integral Theory and Zen Buddhism into her conflict work, helping her understand that there is so much more available to us then the win/lose mentality that defines most conflict. She later went on to work with the UN in New York, researching peacebuilding, mediation, and gender issues with organizations from across the globe. As you'll hear, Kim is deeply attuned to the dynamics of group conflict. By making these relational dynamics visible, she helps seemingly opposing parties move towards healing, wholeness, and collective evolution.

Robert Mulhall is a lifelong explorer and transformational leader. He currently serves as the Vice President of programming and business strategy for the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. I've had the privilege of working with Kripalu and its RISE program for several years now, and the moment I met Robert I knew he would serve as a powerful steward for this incredible organization.

Our conversation was a deeply personal one. We dig into the deep human need for love and affirmation; and how, if we're not careful, that very need for love can drive love away from us. We also examine the unique challenges and opportunities of our time through the lens of masculinity and the ways in which masculine energy can be amplified and distorted by social forces.

Lastly, we dive into Robert's incredible family history. He was raised in a singular environment in Ireland, with parents who were deeply committed to living for something greater than themselves and passing that onto their son. This is a beautiful conversation, and I trust that you will gain a lot from being in the Robert's presence.

Michael Stern is a social innovator, a spiritual teacher, and a leadership coach for the next generation of leaders in the world. He is also student of Integral theory, a framework for understanding human nature, the world, the universe, and everything in it. He's spent much of his life immersing himself in different world views: traveling in Spain, kickboxing in Thailand, studying Buddhism in Nepal. His work is grounded in a commitment to breakthrough limiting world views and recognize that we always have more ways to learn, grow, and evolve.

At the heart of our conversation is the Emerging Leaders Project, which Michael co-founded alongside Chelsea Simpson. Michael believes we are built to adapt and thrive in the face of disruption. That our COVID times, as bleak as they might seem, can help us give birth to a future where we exist in harmony with nature, technology, and each other. Rayshauna Gray has one of the most beautiful minds I've ever encountered. She's a public historian, truth-teller, creator, and entrepreneur who has partnered with organizations like Google, General Assembly, the Obama Foundation, and dozens of other nonprofits, universities, and community organizations to help them face history with clear-eyed compassion.

I first got to hear her speak at CreativeMornings/Boston where she shared her research for her book-in-progress, Roseland, which narrates the last 200 years of America's history through the stories of seven generations of women in her family. She managed to make everyone in attendance laugh and cry in equal measure, and I left the event with a full and open heart.

Dr. Richard Schwartz transformed my life. I know that's a bold claim. But if I had to locate the single experience that's had the most profound and lasting impact in my work and life, it was the week I spent studying with Dr. Schwartz.

He is the founder of Internal Family Systems, a pioneering model of psychotherapy that has become widely used, particularly when dealing with trauma. It is the most hopeful, respectful, and non-invasive modality for healing I've ever encountered.

While working as a family therapist he discovered that his clients - many of whom were dealing with intense trauma, eating disorders, or self-harming behaviors - did not find the relief he thought they would through traditional family therapy. He learned his patients were burdened by what they called “parts.” Parts of themselves that made them do things, berated them, made them panic, and resisted efforts to live life differently.

What emerged over decades of working with these patients was a model for human nature that is completely different than what most of us have grown up with; particularly here in the US, in a culture that celebrates rugged individualism and short-changes emotional, mental, cultural, and racial diversity.

The truth is that we carry many lives inside of us. We are not singular. We are not isolated and alone. We contain multitudes. And each of us, at our core, has a Self that is infinitely courageous, compassionate, and capable. To understand how to live in Self and how to heal your selves is to realize a profound shift in who, what, and how you are. From there, whole new worlds of possibility begin to open up.

I've had the immense privilege of sharing space with Ishita Sharma on a number of occasions over the past year. It’s difficult to put into words what she does for people, or at least what she's done for me. She is a modern mystic, holding space for life in all of its abundant complexity, from the highest joys and miracles to the deepest suffering and sorrows.

She was born in Haridwar, India, and grew up in the Garhwal Himalayas. Eventually, she came to the US to study as a physicist, but turned to architecture and design practice, evolving into a multidisciplinary artist working with paint and sculpture. Through it all, she felt that she was looking for an even deeper framework to explain what felt obvious to her: that we are all connected.

Today, Ishita works with contemporary visionaries and spiritual seekers to create futures that are free of past limitations. After coming into a profound shift in her consciousness, Ishita recognized that the answer she was seeking wasn't out there, waiting to be discovered in some corner of the world. It lies inside each and everyone one of us. We are all already whole. The Wonder Dome Newsletter http://bit.ly/3dTfdPi

My guest today is Yotam Schachter. Yotam is the founder of Presence Tree Leadership, where he provides guidance and grounding for change-makers. I cannot think of a better name for his work than Presence Tree. Just as trees are deeply rooted and connected to the earth, while also growing upwards toward the light, so too does Yotam do that in his own life while helping others find that in themselves.

In this episode, Yotam and I work to deepen the definitions of masculinity and masculine energy. Much of what it is to be a male-identifying human in our day and age is to be a person who actively represses emotions for fear of being rejected, exiled, or eradicated.

We explore how this emotional repression inevitably leads to their expression in unconscious and often violent ways. This repression is one of the roots of police brutality and systemic racism, and until we face it, we will be ruled by it. But there is a strength beyond our fear. We imagine what might be possible when we tap into that strength; when we stop being so afraid and start getting in touch with what we truly stand for.The Wonder Dome Newsletter http://bit.ly/3dTfdPi

Karin Stawarky is the founder of Spark Leadership Partners. Her 20+ years of practice reflect her deep belief in the integration of all parts of ourselves: our thinking self, feeling self, physical self, and energetic self. This integration enables an open-hearted leading and living, a way of being in the world that creates the conditions for maximum impact and fulfillment.

Karin has a list of accolades and experiences that are simply too long to list here but suffice to say that she is considered by many to be one of the top coaches and leadership thinkers in the world. Often, when people hear the word “leadership,” they think of the stereotypical, charismatic hero-figure who does all the heavy lifting and saves the day for everyone else.

But Karin comes from a place of deep curiosity and soulfulness. She's helping leaders across industries become the people they are meant to be so that everyone they work for and work with light up with purpose and passion. On our episode today, we explore what energy is, how we can get out of the story that we've written for each other, and how we can reconnect with nature, our spirit, and our creative essence so that we can become who we're meant to be in the world.

Wendy talks about the belief in many First Nation indigenous cultures that we are all here together, in such a time as this, for a reason. That we are all dreaming together, making the world we live in now. And that we can choose to dream a new dream. To make a world where every one of us finds our way to our essence.

Cyrus Shahrad is a human of many talents: musician, novelist, journalist, and film critic. His work has appeared in a range of publications, from the New Statesman to the Telegraph to Google’s Think Quarterly. His novel The White World won the Telegraph's novel of the year competition in 2006.

Cyrus lives in London, where he makes music under the moniker Hiatus. It is that music that brought us together. His compositions are lush and cinematic, weaving live instrumentation and vocals into atmospheric digital soundscapes. Over the past decade, his songs have personally provided me with a container for grief, joy, love, and loss as I've navigated what it is to be a human of integrity and purpose. To listen to Hiatus is to be transported.

Not only are you going to hear some of Cyrus’s music on this episode, but you're also going to hear from the human himself: an artist in process, working at the creative precipice. In a society that commodifies almost everything, we explore what it is to stay true to ourselves, create something beautiful and meaningful, and bring our gifts into the world.

Meg Wolf is a remarkable human being. She's a leadership coach who leverages her background as a professional actor to help leaders develop their presence and communication skills so that they can lead with more authenticity, deeper purpose, and clear vision. She works especially with business leaders and nonprofit leaders who are committed to building organizations that make a difference in the world.

All of these qualities inspired me to invite Meg on the show. In the process of making that invitation, I discovered that she also has a deeply personal story that drives her work; a story of illness and recovery that led to a newfound sense of purpose as a parent and as a human being in the world. When she shared this with me, I was deeply moved, and I knew that's what we had to talk about on the podcast.

Meg is based in New York City, and she is currently writing a memoir based on her experience with cancer during her pregnancy. This recording took place right around the time that initial conversations about what it looks like for us to reenter life in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic were emerging. Her own story, a personal journey of reentry, is a powerful and inspiring one.

Francis Briers has over 15 years of experience facilitating individuals and groups. He trained at one of the UK's top drama schools, and he's an executive coach, a spiritual counselor, and a poet. A damn good poet, in my humble opinion. (Stick around to the very end of the conversation to hear him read one of his latest poems, There is No Solid Ground, written in the time of this pandemic. It is heart-wrenching and inspiring.)

But the thing I want you to know most about Francis is that he is deeply committed to the pursuit of wisdom. Over the past decade, he has been distilling and articulating what we might call “a formula for wisdom,” which we get into (in part) in this conversation as we explore “What is it to be a wise being in the world? Please note that this episode was recorded while the pandemic was still the general backdrop of our lives, prior to the global protests. As you listen now, you may ask yourself, what is it to be a wise being in today's constantly evolving world? How might I carry a through-line of wisdom when so much around me is rattling and changing? And how might that wisdom help me show up for the world in the way that I am uniquely suited?

I often talk about “walking the walk.” Dr. Shoshana Simons has been doing that for decades. She is a teacher, leader, coach, essayist, activist, and healer. She has a particular interest in the integration of the arts into spiritual practice, social and emotional development, and the uses of performance and creative expression as catalysts for healing and social change. She helps people live with more presence by deepening their connection to the hidden and often actively suppressed truths of life.

This conversation is incredibly timely as the world widely and publicly confronts oppressive power structures. The original title for this episode was “Listening for Hidden Truths,” but after further discussion with Shoshana, it became clear that didn’t encompass the entirety of our conversation. It is not enough to listen to the marginalized voices within our organizations, our communities. The next step is to elevate those voices and to give them the proper platform so their truths are no longer suppressed. That is the starting point for deep, lasting change.

One program you hear us talk about in this episode is Open Circle, which provides evidence-based social and emotional learning (SEL) curriculum and professional development for elementary schools. They proactively develop children’s skills for recognizing and managing emotions, empathy, positive relationships and problem solving and help schools develop a community where students feel safe, cared for, and engaged in learning. Founded in 1987 by our mutual friend and colleague Pamela Seigle, Open Circle is now in over 360 schools, 90 districts, and 16 states across the United States and remains a leading educator of the transformative power of authentic listening.

Change takes root when we attend to other people’s stories, especially those so different from our own. So listen in to this conversation and learn more about what it means to be in a relationship with each other in a way that is healing, empowering and inspiring.

For this week’s episode of The Wonder Dome, my guest is Dr. Kristin Lee, also known as Dr. Kris. She's an internationally recognized award-winning behavioral science professor, a licensed clinical social worker, and the author of a number of books on human potential. As a lead faculty for behavioral science at Northeastern University, her research and teaching include both individual and organizational well being and resilience, particularly from marginalized and underserved populations.

Dr. Kris has devoted her life to helping people heal from trauma, connect to their full potential, and become beacons of light and hope in the world. We explore how human beings think and feel, why we are so hard on ourselves, and what it might mean for us to evolve to the point where we truly see and honor every human life, starting with ourselves.

This week on The Wonder Dome, I am joined by Aithan Shapira. He's the founder of Tilt, a culture design and transformation firm focused on helping global leaders, organizations and governments instill the conditions that help people be more collaborative, adaptive, and innovative.

He began his artistic journey at age 8 with the piano. By the time he was a teenager, he was playing in jazz bars around New York City alongside players decades older than him. He went on to become a fine artist working with paint as his primary medium, earning his PhD from the Royal College of Art & Design.

In addition to his organizational transformation work, Aithan continues to be a visiting critic at arts institutions internationally, while also lecturing at MIT’s Sloan School of Management. He is a deeply passionate and singularly creative person, committed to helping every human being thrive.

This conversation is brimming with insights about the nature of creativity, the art of leadership, and the power of letting go of what we think we know so we can discover new ways of being in the world.

She's an experienced coach, mediator, trainer, facilitator, rugby player, and artist. She's based out of Chicago, but she works with clients from across the country and across the world.

She co-leads The Rising Practitioners Circles, a national collaborative community of practice and growth for transformational facilitators, coaches, mediators, consultants, and trainers. She also co-founded a next-gen consultancy, The Darkest Horse, focused on helping teams build integrated future-of-work talent management strategies, policies, and cultural practices that support a culture of diversity, equity, accessibility, and radical inclusion.

Our conversation today is a fantastic one. We look at what it is to be someone who has many identities and how to let go of those parts of you that keep telling you you're not worthy of living the life you're called to. So let's dive in.

How do you connect your outer life to your inner life? What is something that inspires you and sparks the creativity in your inner world? And how do we share that with those around us?

These are just some of the questions I discuss with Christos Vayenas on this week’s episode of The Wonder Dome.

Christos is a self-taught musician who has devoted his life to exploring the intersections of aesthetics, beauty, art, and personal development. He's the founder of The Autumn Salon, a place where music and the arts are more than a mere form of entertainment. They are meant to serve a deeper purpose: to awaken and restore a sense of beauty, mystery, and depth of feeling to the presence of our lives.

Dr. Annice Fisher is a coach for people ready to use their choice and power as the foundation for a more equitable world. As the CEO & Founder of The BEE FREE Woman and Developing Capacity Coaching, LLC, she coaches individuals and teams to use conscious leadership as a tool for inner healing and advancing equity.

In this episode, we explore what it means to be an adaptive leader, facing challenges that can’t be solved by existing methods. We also go deep into the importance of healing ourselves as a path to healing the world. All of us carry wounds from our personal past and our ancestral past. Conscious Leadership is, at its essence, the journey of healing from those wounds and helping others do the same so that we can wake up to our full potential.

Welcome back to The Wonder Dome! This week I had a powerful conversation with Nabil Laoudji, a serial entrepreneur who has worked on projects ranging from storytelling and politics, health and wellness, even religion. He’s currently working with the awesome digital design thinking platform, Mural.co, and he’s also innovating with his passion project, Solve Reality, which aims to explore how we can leverage emerging technology to further our understanding of the universe, reality, and consciousness.

We met as graduate students, and I’m stoked to discuss with him what it actually means to be a global citizen and how we can bring people together from a place of love, compassion, and empathy.

Welcome to The Wonder Dome.

On this podcast, I explore the question “what is your fiercest hope for humanity?” through conversations with an incredible array of practitioners from across disciplines, including coaches, artists, entrepreneurs, healers, scientists, philosophers, psychologists, and organizational leaders. All of these people are working at the edge of what’s possible for humanity, striving to help us all become more resilient, adaptive, creative, and compassionate.

These conversations couldn’t be more timely. As I write this, the specter of coronavirus looms over society, demanding more from us than many are used to giving. But the call to be our best selves is even greater than this moment. When we get through this pandemic, we’ll still have to reckon with the same question that’s been asked of us for centuries: how will we make this beautiful blue diamond of a planet a place where all of us thrive?

So if you care about creating the brightest possible future, then you’ve come to the right place. Join us on this journey. We need you now more than ever.
