In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I have been thinking a lot about prayer and gratitude. Who better to chat with about this topic, than my very own pastor from church! I am so excited to welcome my pastor, Alex Hall, to the show today to discuss how to make prayers more meaningful, what a prayer journal is, and how to better recognize God's answers to our prayers. Just like anything in life, prayer is something we have to practice and work at to get better. When we practice this discipline of writing down our prayers, we can begin to see the next steps to take to move that vision forward that we are being called to fulfill. More Show Notes: HERE! With the holidays coming up soon, it can be tempting to feel like you have to say "yes" to everything, but you don't! It is so important that you take the time to stop and ask yourself, "What is most important in this season?" Are the yeses you are saying and the things you are committing to your best yeses?

More often than not, our society tells us that being "busy" is good and to stack more and more on our plates until we are completely burnt out! We get to decide what to put on them.

No one tells you that you might not remember motherhood, you might not remember things that you thought would be memories that are clear as day. Motherhood is hard, and sometimes our brain thinks it's protecting us in moments that maybe we didn't want to be protected, but none the less it does and our memories of some of the happiest moments of our lives get blurred.

Today we are going to talk about the tool that helped me remember the parts of motherhood that I thought were lost and how I have learned to create deeper memories in motherhood. I have also used this tool to deeply remember childhood memories and I have been using it with my kids to help them build memories as well!

I also want to note friend, if you are deep in postpartum depression that you are not alone. You are not alone in your feelings and that you will get through this and you will feel like you can keep your head above water again.

So often we get to the end of the week and think well I got nothing done again. It leads to frustration, that we let the week get away from us and truly didn't accomplish the things that were important to us. I will be the first to tell you that I stink as structure and planning. I'm much more a go with the flow free spirt, so much that it's really hard for me to commit to things weeks out. Mainly, because I know I over commit and the first things to go are self-care, family time, and what it truly important to me get put on the back burner easily. With quarantine and life getting flipped upside-down I felt like any schedule we had went out the window and we haven't got back into any routine. Because of that I have felt that I haven't accomplished much personally or in business in this season. So I called on my friend, Chelsea Wessman, who is an expert in this area to help up set up a weekly plan that will help us feel successful at the end of each day and week, all while setting what is most important to you first. Join me in a real and raw discussion on my experiences with postpartum depression and anxiety. I found myself googling symptoms of postpartum depression. I was reading the blogs and medical posts thinking well I'm not that bad, at least I think I'm not. I mean I get out of bed, I feed my kids, I cry a lot, I worry about things more than before but I'm not THAT bad. Until my husband told me if I didn't call the doctor and say I needed help he would be calling for me. I took the steps to get help and realized I was deeper in depression and anxiety than I realized. In the steps to get better I realized that I most likely also had postpartum depression with my first son and on top of hard pregnancies, a high risk pregnancy, postpartum preeclampsia, a traumatic birth, and hard recoveries. I found myself in a place I never thought I would be and I thought it was something that sounded weak to admit. But facing the reality I was in and that there was nothing I did to make it happen and it wasn't my fault was freeing. I found my way back to the light and I know that if you are feeling like it did, that you can too! Join me as we have a chat just you and I about what postpartum was really like for me, in hopes that you don't feel so alone or that it helps you to understand how a loved is feeling.
