"Today Muslims all over the world are celebrating Eid but in Gaza there are no celebrations. In Gaza there is no sign of happiness.
Usually on the first day of Eid, I wake up to the noise and laughter of children playing in the street and the noise of my neighbours happily greeting each other.
I’m missing preparing the chocolate for my family visit and I’m missing preparing myself to go out in the evening to meet my friends on the busy restaurants on the beach. Instead children in Gaza are being killed and hundreds of thousands of people are displaced in schools and hospitals.
I’m not celebrating Eid. I can’t celebrate Eid while innocent people including children and women are being killed. I can’t celebrate it while bombs continue to fall around.
Last night was one of the most terrifying nights in the military operation. Because of the heavy bombing we had to stay in the corridor from midnight to 6am and we didn’t know if we would make it till the morning or not.
I’m wondering now, if all this didn’t stop for Eid then what will be the best occasion for this to stop."
