As we dive into the life of Abraham we will see his call from God and the covenant God made with him. As Abraham chose to put his faith in God, that faith produced an obedience that opened the door for God to work not just for Abraham but for generations to come. Your faith in Christ produces obedience in you that will open a door for God to work through you.
We move into Genesis 6-9 to see the story of Noah and what happened through the flood. From this historical account we realize this truth - the judgement of God is inevitable, but the grace of God is available.
Satan wants to unravel God's creation, but God doesn't act without a plan. Jesus Christ is the counter to every attempt of our spiritual enemy and our victory is in Christ.
In this series we're going to see what the beginning of scripture has to tell us about the beginning of life as we know it. As we explore some of the foundational stories in Genesis, we'll also see what these stories teach us about Jesus, and how he's been a part of creation's story from the beginning.
God created the world out of nothing, with love, so that we could commune with Him, and cultivate His creation for His glory and the good of others.
Suffering is a part of this world and it can be hard to understand why. Even for believers in Christ, suffering exists because we in this world. God is is still good though, and through Christ we have a hope that's far greater than the pain we experience in this world.
If you're frustrated by hypocrisy, so was Jesus. Jesus couldn't stand for someone to use their faith as an act.
What do you do when you have questions about the faith? How do you respond to your friends when they have questions? Questions are opportunity for growth.
Maybe you've heard the term "deconstruction" before. We see people deconstructing christianity, church and their faith. Some choose to walk away because of doubt, the hypocrisy they see and the suffering they don't understand. Gleaning from Wade Bearden's book, To My Friend Who Left The Church, we will approach this topic in this year's Summer Reading series.
Trying to understand faith can be complicated especially when people who call themselves a part of the faith make it complicated. The enemy's goal is to always pull us away from God, but God can make us stronger even through our questions. In week one we see how God never stops loving us and we should never stop loving those who may be struggling in their faith.
To be like Christ means we see the opportunities around us and we take the time to stop for other people's needs, bringing value to those who may feel overlooked.
The mission of God starts here in our community. There are needs all around us and we can live missionally in our community by recognizing my those needs and responding.
Our biggest disappointments in life could become divine appointments and our greatest opportunities to serve God.
The mission God wants to do through you starts in your home. It can also start where you are in your church and your community with the next generation.
As we conclude the book of Daniel we see yet again that God rules the future. No matter what the enemy may try to do, and no matter what we will face, it will not stop God’s plan from coming together.
We glean from Daniel 9 that until whatever the end looks like for us, we worship the one who is worthy, we get in HIs word, we walk with the spirit through a life of prayer, and we witness.
As we go into Daniel 7 & 8 we see a future that seems uncertain to us but is sealed and secure in the hands of an Almighty God. Our hope won't be found in this world, it's only found in Him.
In Daniel 6 we reach the famous story of Daniel and the lion’s den. We learn from Daniel that courage comes from consistency in your faith journey. What you’ll do when the opportunity comes to stand in your faith is determined by what you are doing now.
In Daniel 5 we see where God sent a message to Belshazzar and the writing on the wall from God was made clear by Daniel. Don't let your own stubbornness cause you to miss God's message to you.
Author and speaker Denise Jones shares a message entitled Fully Filled Family of Faith. Denise has a ministry called Reclaiming Hearts that is focused on helping people reclaim that childlike heart they came into the world with. Through her own journey of shutting down and realizing how that manifested itself in her life from living in fear and disappointment, she worked diligently to fight for her heart. That birthed Reclaiming Heart Ministries that she leads with her husband Philly.
In Daniel 4 we see where Nebuchadnezzar had to learn the hard way about the problem of his pride. Every day we must choose to clothe ourself with humility, and let God work through our humility in a world filled with pride.
In Daniel 3 we learn from Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, also known as Shadrach, Meshech, and Abednego, that our confession of faith needs to be one of courage grounded in Christ, not conformed to culture. Do we have a faith that believes God can, believes God will, but also believes in God EVEN IF things turn out different than we hoped.
With Christ as a solid foundation, we are called to be a blessing through Him to the world we live in.
Operate from a place of conviction, under control, with character all while demonstrating competency, and knowing when to confront with humility, so you avoid conformity.
Being a person who gives when there is a need is a great quality, but giving alone isn't what makes us generous. We have to shift our perspective from being someone who gives to being a generous person.
Plans provide a purpose and our finances need a plan. Seek God's wisdom to help you plan and then to manage your plan.
On this Labor Day weekend, Pastor Caleb shares with us from the life of Daniel what it looks like to take a stand for God and in your faith. If you believe in God, take a stand by having a relationship with Him and living for Him.
With so many headlines that revolve around our economy we need to make sure we have a Biblical perspective on money. We must create the proper space to give us the proper perspective to properly understand money.

It's cute when a child may run the bases the wrong way the first time they play, but when we get things out of order it's a little more counterintuitive than cute. When we abide in Christ, God renews our hearts and minds and we begin to see how dependent we must be on God.

Christianity is not a theory to master, it’s a person to follow. Jesus told us He’s given us someone to walk with us and to help us continue the journey. We have to be willing to receive Him and to be filled with the Spirit.
Learning how to handle our anger can be the difference in us hurting others or loving them. Anger should be our response to evil, and it should move us to act, but we should act with compassion to see change. Anger becomes sin when it’s used to attack people instead of attacking injustice.
Envy is evil. It distorts the way we see things causing resentment and discontent. But when we seek Christ, we'll find He's all we need.
Pastor Javin’s wife Jenny shares this week on seeing through the fog of anxiety. Anxiety is a tool the enemy uses to steal joy, stifle life, and secure his mission. It tries to master us, but this is not God's will for your life.

What happens on Easter is what our faith hinges to - the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Several individuals were caught up in the dark side of things that led to that moment. Caiaphas was the High Priest at the time of Jesus’ crucifixion. Caiaphas was unwilling to let go when he needed to in order to see the promise of God right in front of him. Yes sex is enjoyable, but it's also so powerful that it comes with a warning label. Sex was given to us by God for a purpose, and for enjoyment, in a proper design. In his design within marriage, a deep friendship and commitment magnifies the intimacy that comes with physicality.
As followers of Christ, there’s a high standard for how we love, and the more intimate the relationship the higher the standard becomes. Maybe you’ve heard the old saying - first comes love, then comes marriage… and you know the rest. What if you thought there was love, but marriage never happens? What if marriage comes, but you feel like the love is gone? What if you’ve never felt like you’ve found love? What if it is true that first comes love, but the love that comes first is the first love we were created for, and when we get that first love right, then we get better at handling singleness, dating and marriage? Seek God first. First love him. Because whatever season we are in, whether married or single, we will always need him.
Pastor Javin has a conversation with Pastor Don Goude, who had nearly 50 years in full time ministry, regarding the importance of prayer in his life. Pastor Don shares his journey, how prayer has played a part in his life, and the part it plays now in this season. He also shares about what intercessory prayer is. His encouragement to us is to start somewhere.
Prayers are not unanswered just because they aren't answered the way we wish. We have to trust God's answer.
God is sovereign and in his sovereignty he allows us to play a part in his plan unfolding through our prayers.

Jenny also expresses how, for her, prayer is like breathing, and encourages you to make prayer an important part of your life.
The purpose of the prayer that Jesus taught us to pray was to focus our mind on the Father, who He is to us, and the life we live for him.
One day Jesus' disciples asked him, "Lord, teach us to pray." Prayer is something every religion has and most every person knows about, but prayer is more than a religious duty. Prayer is more than a statement of comfort we make to someone else in a time of need. Jesus made prayer a deeper connection with the Father. This week we share how we should pray from a heart that is desperate for and dependent on God. Approach Him with bold persistence. Be attentive to how He answers, and trust Him.
What could happen if we combined our dream with reality, if we saw the potential that was there? How could that fuel possibility in our life? God's word is full of possibilities for us. Ask yourself - What does God want to be possible for me this year?

Fear not, a child was born who would perform an act of kindness beyond what any one of us would deserve to approve, support and love you regardless of who you are or what you’ve done.
We don't have to fear failure, not having enough to give, feeling incapable. We can walk by faith when we walk by God's word because His word never fails and nothing is an impossibility when God is involved.
There’s a lot in our world today that leads us to fear. We are prone to worry, to be anxious, to be stressed. But the words of the angel spoken to the shepherds is as true today for us as they were for them - “Fear not, I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born!” During these 3 weeks we will see how faith in Christ frees us from the fear that comes in this life. This week we look at how when the circumstances around us or the future ahead of us seems uncertain, the birth of Jesus reminds us that God has a plan.
Our hope is in the one who brings peace like no-one or nothing else can. Through the Prince of Peace we have a hope that brings peace despite the circumstances of life and that brings peace to others by how we respond to those circumstances and them.
Our hope is in the everlasting father. The relationship we have with our father will impact every aspect of our life. Let it mold you into becoming who He’s created you to be so that whatever your assignment in life, your identity is always that of a child of God.
Our hope is in the Mighty God who is Sovereign, who made the heavens and the earth by His great power, and nothing is too hard for him.
You can live every day with hope knowing that the one who is beyond understanding can give you the wisdom and the strength to get you from where you are, to where you need to be. Our hope is in the Wonderful Counselor.
The love of God is faithful, forgiving and relentless. It continues to reach out to us even when we walk away from Him. His relentless love will go again and again to redeem us and it wants to go again and again through us to others.
The love of God can be a little uncomfortable in that it calls us out of our comfort zone and confronts us on things that need to change in our life.
Paul stated at the end of 1 Corinthians 13 that three qualities should always remain in our walk with Christ above anything else - faith, hope and love. He said the greatest of these was love. In this series we will explore what three different minor prophets taught us about the love of God that would be revealed in Christ and continued through His followers. In Week 1 we see that we are able to be made new in Christ, and we find his love heals us to the very core of what needs to be healed, our sinful hearts.
We were excited to have back with us Pastor Casey Mills for this weekend's message. Sharing from his own life, he spoke about wandering and how it can can be painful. No-one wants to wander aimlessly in life. We want to get where we are supposed to be. The good news is the Holy Spirit wants to help direct us where we need to be so that we don't have to wander aimlessly in life, and thanks to Jesus Christ we don’t have to wander lost because we can be found in Him!
In the message Pastor Javin reminds us that Paul gave us three essentials to our walk with Christ in his letter to the Corinthians. They are faith, hope and love. We take a look at what each of these look like in our life.
Followers of Christ should know from the teachings of Jesus and what's represented by the early church in Scripture, we are called to be share the gospel of Jesus with others. We want to be a people who share hope with humility.
Generosity is a characteristic of Christ, was a characteristic of the early church, and should be a characteristic of followers of Christ today. We want to be a place and a people who give with joy.
Jesus was constantly showing His disciples that our drive shouldn’t be to consume, it should be to contribute. We don’t want to be consumers, we want to be contributors - we want to serve with selflessness.
The great commission wasn’t a special assignment for a few, but the central calling for every follower of Jesus. As believers, we are called to be disciples and make disciples of Jesus - to grow together with hunger.
In this six week series we are exploring our core values as a church. As believers in and followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to love like Christ and that love is a love with no conditions.
The church is a movement that's created for community. To be ready and set to go where God is leading we have to be in rhythm with the Holy Spirit and with one another.
To go where Christ and His Spirit is leading, you’ve got to focus yourself on Him and into a rhythm with Him.
Before anyone goes forward in an adventure, a competition, a mission, a passion, etc., they have to be ready and set to go. Throughout this series we will be encouraged to think about where we are and how prepared we are to go where God is calling and where His Holy Spirit is leading us to go. In week 1 Pastor Javin encourages us that while It's natural to always want to return to the familiar instead of the unknown, as followers of Christ we always have to have the mindset and be prepared to move in the direction that God is leading us instead of moving back to where we use to be. We need to get our selves into a position where we are ready and set to go.
On this Sunday, Pastor Javin was officially installed as the new Lead Pastor for Bethel Worship Center. Hear from the heart of Pastor Casey as he passes the baton, and from Pastor Javin as he shares briefly the vision for Bethel going forward.
What is your reaction in the face of difficult situations, chaos, challenges, fear? If you pray, what do you typically pray for? What the apostles and early church prayed for is what often got them into the situations they were in, but it's what they kept praying because it's what allowed them to advance the gospel. It's also the prayer we should be praying more as believers.
When you do something for someone’s sake it’s by definition supposed to be for the purpose of benefiting them. If we are honest, most of what we do in our life is for our own sake. We do what we do to benefit ourselves. To an extent, that is ok, but we are also called to consider others and to live for more than just ourselves. We have a purpose as a church and it's not just for our own sake.
In Pastor Casey’s final message with us here at Bethel as Lead Pastor he concludes this thought as he concludes his final series, Dream Again - Scripture teaches us that it's not just about how we start, or even how the journey goes, but how we finish the journey. We should dream and then strive to finish well.

Love is the dream and desire of our hearts that is embedded in us because we have been created in love by our Father in heaven.
The actions and thoughts we sow every day will determine what we reap. What type of harvest are you dreaming for and are your actions today leading towards that harvest?
This weekend our youth pastor, Pastor Caleb, shared with us. Life can be crazy. The good news is that Jesus can calm the storms in our life! How we can respond when those storms come? There's no need to be afraid of the storms when we walk with Christ.
Pentecost was the dream of God fulfilled and the Holy Spirit can empower God sized dreams in us.
Life can often come at us and rob us of our dreams or even cause us to stop dreaming. It's time to begin to renew the dreams that God has placed in our hearts. It's time to begin to dream anew what God is calling us to. It's time to dream again! When our dreams seem to be taken from us we will often lose our joy, but God can restore our joy and renew our dreams. Have the faith to believe and step out in that faith.
Pastor Casey and Judi share together on this Mother's Day weekend what it looks like to have faith and trust God with our lives. Taking a leap of faith starts with taking small steps of obedience.
Be willing to submit everything to God. We don’t submit in defeat though. We submit to God and receive His victory.
Rather than clinging to something else for peace, trust that the one who has always been faithful will be faithful to the end.
Most of us do all we can to avoid pain and struggle. But there’s just one problem…pain and struggle are inevitable. In fact, the one thing we probably all have in common is struggle…and tough times! Let’s take a look at how to get through what we might be going through. In part 1 we look at how a faith that is challenged by struggles has the potential to lead us into a living faith that thrives even amidst the difficulties.
We often put off things that we need to get to and we wonder why do we wait? The same can be said spiritually. What are we waiting for? In this message Pastor Casey unpacks this thought and specifically the importance of what baptism means in our walk with Christ. Baptism unifies us with Christ and with each other. The act of baptism signifies what Jesus has done in our hearts and it is a public proclamation that says, "I am a follower of Jesus."
The greatest truth of all time, the good news, is that Jesus is Alive! Jesus turned death to life, and He can turn graves into gardens.
People put their hope in money, power, politicians, preachers, possessions, people, nations. The Bible is very honest with us that this will all pass away. David's declaration should be our own - My ONLY hope is in God.
You may have heard the song "Graves into Gardens," and maybe even heard our worship team do this song. It’s a celebration that when Jesus comes along, life comes with him. This series takes us into our celebration of Easter. Easter is the celebration that Jesus came along. He came to our lost souls and gave us life (eternal life). He came to our sorrow and brought us joy. He came to our hopelessness and gave us hope. He came to our worry and gave us peace. He came to our sin and gave us forgiveness. There is nothing better than Jesus! In part 1 we see how Jesus makes all things new. Because of Him we can go from fear to faith, from darkness to light.
As neighbors in our community, we should express extraordinary hope with undeniable grace everyday that we can.
This series hits the most basic, but perhaps most impactful way to demonstrate the love of Jesus to others. This truth is so important that Jesus identified it as the second greatest command. In part 1 we look at how God has placed you where you live on purpose and for a purpose.
We were honored to have Lee Grady with us on this weekend. Lee is an author, award-winning journalist, missionary and speaker. Lee is the author of six books, including 10 Lies the Church Tells Women, 10 Lies Men Believe, and Fearless Daughters of the Bible. His years at Charisma magazine gave him a unique perspective of the Spirit-filled church and led him to write The Holy Spirit Is Not for Sale and Set My Heart on Fire, which is a Bible study on the work of the Holy Spirit. In this message Lee challenges us and encourages us to take 3 steps to be used by God.
Connectivity to Christ will keep us pressing forward in our relationship with Him, living for Him, loving others and focused on spending eternity with Him.
We are empowered to live out God’s love in our lives, to love our neighbor as ourselves, to love our enemies, and to love others.
Jesus is the vine, God is the Gardner. The goal for our lives as followers of Christ is to bear fruit, living fruitful lives that honor God.
For transformation to take place in our life we must remain connected to Christ and that's a choice of the will.
The importance of spiritual and personal connection cannot be understated. Disconnect doesn't happen immediately. It's a slow fade as we make one little decision here and then another there and before we know it we've disconnected ourselves from the very life source we need in our spiritual walk. We must make every effort to stay connected. Growth and life only takes place when we are connected to the life source.
God's promises weren't just for yesterday. They are for today and tomorrow as well. When we return God’s promises in prayer we are putting our faith into action, not just for today but for our future. In turn, our faith will be emboldened to anticipate the future of what God has promised for His church because of what He has done in the past.
Break through will happen when we begin to take prayer seriously in our life. We learn from Daniel that our prayer life should be one that is disciplined, expectant, fearless, and full of endurance.
Prayer may be one of the most undervalued yet most important resources in our life. Prayer is the conduit by which God’s power works in and through us. In this 2 part series we will look at two individuals from the Old Testament to see what we can learn about the importance and power of prayer, and then challenge ourselves to put this into practice in our life. Part 1 - Prayer is a conversation between you and your dad. Don't neglect it and don't miss out on the blessings that come through it.
Fear is the enemy of our faith. Our mindset has to be one that stays focused on God not our circumstances.
It doesn't matter the darkness that surrounds us, the light of Jesus always shines in the darkness.
Remember that joy of Christmas mornings? Remember the agony of anticipation? Waiting is often the hardest part, but joy always seem to come on Christmas morning. You may be in a place of waiting; waiting on direction, wisdom, family, children, job, et. Waiting is tough and often painful, but the Christmas season teaches us that there is joy on the other side of our anticipation.
We were honored to have Pastor Don Goude speaking in our service this weekend. Pastor Don was Lead Pastor of BWC for 25 years before he retired in 2010.
We are able to press forward in pathways of peace - peace of mind, heart, and peace no matter our circumstances.
You are a visible, holy temple of God that is a temple of prayer, and that carries the presence of God with you wherever you go.
The old Jewish temple was a point of connection for God’s presence between heaven and earth. The Temple building is gone, but the temple principle still remains. God has attached His presence to those who declare Him as Lord. We are His connection point between heaven and earth. We are called to reflect and reveal God to this world.
As we prepare for an election and what comes after it, we need to make sure we have a biblical understanding of our calling as Christians in our culture and our government. We are called to represent the Kingdom of Heaven and reach our culture with the gospel of Jesus by being, as Paul said, “ready to do whatever is good.” The same gospel that transformed us can transform the culture as well.
We need people in our lives who will press on in faith with us. We are the body of Christ, in this together. We have the opportunity to be a part of each other's journey of blessing.
One of the great truths for the church that should cause us to always press forward is that God has called us to be unifiers and not dividers.
Are we pressing forward in our faith like Paul encouraged in his letters, or has the time caused us to walk in apathy and complacency, or maybe even sin? Are we growing in our passion or have we become like ones who have lost their first love? Instead of longing for the way things were, maybe we should begin to long for the way God wants things to be now.
When you become a follower of Christ you accept a call. One that is important for more than just your own life.
In your life, and in connection with the life of the church, you should be showing a glimpse of the world to come and of King Jesus.
Even though we don't have all the answers, we don't know why everything is the way it is and what the outcome will be, we can rest in the fact that God is all knowing.
Getting personal with someone could be something you're comfortable with or it could be something that makes you a little uncomfortable. There's one thing for certain, Jesus wants to get personal with you and wants you get personal with Him. Don't be comfortable with just having a good view of Jesus, looking and receiving from a distance. It's time to get personal with Him.
When the world around us is out of control, never forget, that God is always in control.
We were honored to have Pastor Stacy Hilliard from Oklahoma City, Ok. Pastor Stacy oversees a network of churches and travels all over the world speaking the gospel of Jesus Christ.
In this divine moment we must be guarded as not to blend the gospel with religion, to not confuse traditions of men with what Christ has called us to.
Jesus wants us to invite anyone we can to follow Him and that means we may need to open up our relationship portfolio.
Jesus has extended an open invitation to everyone to come to the table. This invitation is the most important invitation we will ever receive in our life and we must give it the consideration it deserves.
Our call in this divine moment is to be peacemakers, making peace around us amidst the evil.
Mankind is created in God's image. Jesus redeemed our identity and we can be made new in Him and walk as one together.
We don't have to be afraid of doubt. Doubt doesn't make us a bad Christian. It can actually make us a stronger one.
When we are struggling to hear God or sense His presence, when times are difficult and the pain is real, when it feels like faith is failing, you can find hope and peace in the person of Christ and His Holy Spirit.
When difficult times come, when your faith feels like it failed, remember God’s purpose is working in you and through you. God can turn these moments into messages that transform someone’s life.
What do we do when it feels like everything around us is crumbling? How do we handle it when there's so much change, so much adversity, when we feel alone, depressed, abandoned? What happens in our life when our faith feels like it's failed? This week - Any faith we have in ourselves or that we’ve built in our ability to remain comfortable, in control or certain will fail. Sometimes we need to check where we are really putting our faith.
The church is not restarting because the church never stopped being the church. Jesus said He would build His church and the gates of hell would not prevail. The church was birthed in victory, power and love and we as His church continue to live in His victory, His power, and His love, and we are here for this divine moment.
Are we running from what God is calling us to in our life because we're afraid of where He's leading us, or we don't want it to be true? if we are, we're wasting our life.
If we follow the example of Jesus we can change the world by meeting one need at a time.
Growing to be like Jesus is not just checking off the spiritual to do list. Spiritual growth is a process and we grow so we can know Him more.
To stay strong in our faith and relationship with Jesus there are things we should never forget.
