Focusing on the present moment is essential when it comes to reaching our goals in life. While it's important to have a vision for the future and set long-term objectives, fixating too much on the future can hinder our progress. The present moment is where our actions and decisions have the most impact.

By being fully present and engaged in the now, we can make the most of our current opportunities, learn from our experiences, and adjust our strategies accordingly. It allows us to appreciate the journey and derive fulfillment from the process rather than solely fixating on the end result.

One excellent book that can serve as a guide in embracing the present moment is "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle. This transformative read explores the concept of mindfulness and provides practical insights on how to live in the present moment, leading to a more fulfilling and purposeful life.

Prime Time Motivation, The 5 Fs For Team Success.

Have you ever been part of a workplace team that functioned beautifully? Everyone works together seamlessly and, while the team is intensely productive, you’re so energized and committed to the effort that it never feels like work. If you’ve had the benefit of this experience, it can seem like the team came together by sheer luck.In reality, building effective teams has little to do with luck — and the process starts well before its members meet.

By laying the groundwork for synergy in how you hire and helping to facilitate relationships, you can create a whole that’s greater than the sum of its parts. Here are six steps to building effective teams at your organization:

  1. To build effective teams, first set your intentionsThis mantra works for more than yoga and meditation. Before you begin, intentionally commit your organization to building great and effective teams. Consider the nature of the work each team will be doing and what kind of people would do it best. If you don’t know, learn.
For example, is the team working within tight production schedules or are they trying to meet a long-term milestone? Will they be innovating new systems or following existing ones? Clarify your goals and then make sure you understand the specific skills, expertise and experience a team will need to achieve them.

  2. Focus on skills and qualificationsHiring for skills versus hiring for fit is a big debate. Sometimes, it makes sense to target candidates with specific skill sets; but, while skills can be learned, how your team fits within company culture can’t always be developed. On the other hand, bypassing skills for fit may create friction and erode morale among more seasoned team members. To build fast-acting, hit-the-ground-running teams of closely connected people, workers need to know what they’re doing. Striking a balance of skills and fit will allow your organization to meet its goals.

  3. Ensure everyone has enough experience Before the team can exceed the sum of its parts, it must first equal them. Hiring managers are often told to add some greener, younger talent to an existing team with deep experience. And there’s nothing wrong with that — as long as doing so aligns with the team and its purpose. Make sure all prospects are qualified for the role they’re filling. While aspirations are important, they’re no replacement for necessary, practical abilities. Build effective teamwork by consulting with senior team members on their willingness and bandwidth to mentor and support less experienced workers, then slot newbies based on that availability.

  4. Focus on individual workers’ needs Unless you’re outsourcing, you most likely won’t hire a whole team at once. You hire individuals — and each of them has a unique career journey and life story. Focus on their needs and whether you can meet them. For example, if a promising candidate says they’re excited about the chance to work remotely, don’t assign them to an in-house team. Delivering on promises made (or implied) helps teams remain happy and successful. Make sure you’re hiring based on what that candidate actually brings to the table and what you’re really offering.

  5. Hold an auditionThanks in large part to technology, today’s hiring journey — from attracting talent to holding interviews — involves more opportunities for interaction than it used to. Chatbots can handle logistical issues and answer basic questions, freeing hiring managers for making more personal connections. Video interviews can provide information on a candidate’s values, objectives and potential fit, while chat, text and informal video calls can increase your understanding of the person. To really find out how top candidates might perform on the team, bring them in for an audition. This allows candidates to test not only the job but how they work with other team members as well. Then, solicit feedback, asking existing team members, “Can you see yourself working with this person?”

  6. Highlight the importance of teamwork by offering opportunities to build relationshipsIf you want to bring people together, make room at the beginning of a call for employees to share — not only about work but about their personal lives. As previously covered on Lead with Indeed, this approach derives from a Harvard Business School study about managing remote teams; however, it’s a great common-sense strategy for conducting team meetings of any type.Teams, after all, are not built based on charts and apps alone; relationships are the glue that holds any team together.

Provide members the opportunities, space, time and reasons to discuss, share and interact with one another and, given the chance, they’ll bond. Finally, once your team is up and running, take a step back and (unless there are obvious problems) let it run itself. Outside over-management can strain dynamics and thwart the flow that comes from true collaboration and effective teamwork. In effective teams, synergy has to happen organically — and, when you’ve hired qualified people who have the right skills, it will.

Prime Time Motivation, Everyone Says You Cant Until You Do! (Extended Version)

Don't Give Up: 10 Things That Help You Keep Going When Times Are ToughThe dip is inevitable. Are you ready?

I had never experienced anything quite like it before. When we first launched our product, orders came flying in and we received coverage from some of the top tech outlets in a matter of days. It seemed like it wouldn't end. Yet only a few months later, the media stopped calling and customer orders turned into fulfillment issues. The honeymoon was over.

Those are the hard moments when the negative thoughts start taking over. You start to question yourself. Am I good enough? Is this company going to succeed? I have no idea what I'm doing. What happens if I fail?
And that's when you know you're in the dip.

The dip is when most people break down. It's a time of struggle right after the excitement of early success. A time when you don't see the light at the end of the tunnel. But if you survive the dip, you'll come out the other side stronger than you can imagine.

Here are 10 tactics to help you keep the faith and moving forward when you're on the verge of giving up.

Feel the dip
This is big. Give yourself permission to feel the dip. Don't try to fight it or make yourself feel better simply by silencing the negative emotions. Embrace where you are in the moment without any judgment or expectation that things should be anything other than what they are.

See doubt as a positive
Doubt and skepticism don't have to result in paralysis. Instead, a healthy dose of skepticism forces us to confront and validate our beliefs, ideas and choices over and over. It's a gut check that helps ensure you that you are on the right track.

Meditate often
Meditation is a path to letting go of negative thoughts and behavior, and discovering new ways to cope with stress. A strong meditation practice can help you stay calm then things are sideways and increase your sense of awareness.

Go play
Remember how good recess felt in grade school? Remember the saying is "Work hard, play hard," not "work hard, work hard." Making time for play in your life -- whether it's singing, dancing, or hiking your favorite trail -- will add joy to your life to balance the stress and anxiety even in the deepest abyss of the dip.

Contraction leads to expansion
Opportunity follows disappointment and expansion follows contraction. In my experience, as long as I keep my faith and stay focused on the goal, the dips always lead to my greatest expansion and achievement.

Stick to your convictions
What do you believe in? Knowing the answer to this question and being truly committed to your values will help you stay focused on the big picture. Let your convictions be your guide and sustain you through tough times.

Find the good in experiences
Every experience is an opportunity to learn. Victories are exciting, but there is also something to learn from challenges and mistakes. When you find yourself frustrated, ask yourself, what is there for me to learn from this experience? How does this experience serve me?

Get active
Much like meditation, exercise can train your brain to respond differently to stress. Even if you don't exercise regularly, a 20 minute walk can work wonders for your mood. Developing a regular exercise habit can result in increased energy and productivity, better sleep, an improved better sense of overall well-being.

Talk it out
It's dangerous to get stuck in your own head. When you're feeling doubt or reeling from a set back, reach out to a mentor or someone with more experience. These trusted advisors will help you put things into perspective and maybe even offer much needed encouragement.

Keep a gratitude journal
Start writing down three things you're grateful for each night before bed. When things get bad, you can go back and read this gratitude journal to remind yourself of how much there is to be grateful for in your life. It's also great proof that things tend to work out for the better.

Conclusion
We all experience the dip at some point and for many entrepreneurs, the dip can become the breaking point. However, if you can keep faith in your ideas and focus on your goals, the dip can make you an even stronger, more resilient entrepreneur. (INC)

7 Inspiring Ways to Maintain Your Motivation.

How can I stay motivated? Here are some tips:* Regularly review your goals and progress. Seeing progress is a great motivator in itself, and also improves your self-esteem. * Continue to set new goals. Think about what you want to achieve next week, next month and next year. Tackle one goal at a time so you don’t feel overwhelmed. * Keep the momentum up. It takes most people about 2 months to develop a new habit, but for some people, it can take much longer. Keeping the momentum and routine helps it feel more automatic over time. * Find mentors, for example, someone you look up to who is experienced in the habit you want to change. Finding social or support groups with the same interest can help you find a mentor. * Surround yourself with positive people. Positive friends and family enhance your positive self-talk. This also helps to manage the symptoms of depression and anxiety. * Use exercise as one of your daily goals to improve your mental health.

What to do if you lose motivationSetbacks are normal, but developing resilience can help you carry on and continue from where you left off. Here are some tips to help you find your motivation again:* Review your goals and see if they are realistic in the timeframe you have set. You may need to break your goal down further into smaller and more achievable goals. * Remember why you wanted to get motivated or reach that goal in the first place. * Take motivation from others – feel inspired by reading a book. Talk to your mentor, or friends or family who have reached similar goals to the ones you have set. * Sometimes you just need to take a break and start afresh. (Health Direct)

How to Take Action: 12 Habits that Turn Dreams into Reality.

  1. Get your day off to a great start by doing the most important thing.I first learned about this about 20 years ago when I used to sell computers. The boss told us that if we took care of the most important task of the day – often one of the more difficult ones too – right away in the morning the rest of the day would be a lot easier and lighter. He was right about that. When that first and most important task is done you don’t have to worry about it. It won’t weigh down on your day. You feel good about yourself. And you’ll have less inner resistance to taking action for the rest of the day.

Motivating yourself is one of the main things that sets high achievers apart, and it’s hard. How do you keep pushing onward when your heart isn’t in it? In her research, Fishbach has identified some simple tactics: Set goals that are intrinsically rewarding, and make them very specific. If a task isn’t satisfying, focus on aspects of it that are or combine it with pleasant activities.

Reward yourself in the right way for getting things done. To avoid slumps, break objectives into subgoals; look at how much you’ve accomplished until you’re halfway there; and then count down what you have left to do. And use social influence: Let high performers inspire you, boost your get-up-and-go by giving advice, and keep the people you want to succeed for front of mind.

Effective communication is about more than just exchanging information. It's about understanding the emotion and intentions behind the information. As well as being able to clearly convey a message, you need to also listen in a way that gains the full meaning of what's being said and makes the other person feel heard and understood.

Effective communication sounds like it should be instinctive. But all too often, when we try to communicate with others something goes astray. We say one thing, the other person hears something else, and misunderstandings, frustration, and conflicts ensue. This can cause problems in your home, school, and work relationships.

For many of us, communicating more clearly and effectively requires learning some important skills. Whether you’re trying to improve communication with your spouse, kids, boss, or coworkers, learning these skills can deepen your connections to others, build greater trust and respect, and improve teamwork, problem solving, and your overall social and emotional health.

Do you feel stuck in a rut?It can feel frustrating to be stuck in the same place and feel like nothing is changing. When you’re languishing, it feels like you’re not moving forward toward your goals. One of the ways to break this rut is to take action.

Making a conscious decision to better yourself can be empowering and motivating. But self-improvement sometimes gets a bad rap, and for good reason. Our desire to improve ourselves has spawned an industry full of bad hacks that can leave you feeling more frustrated than before. Or, that feel good but don't move you forward.Working to improve yourself can positively impact your own well-being and your relationships with family, friends, and colleagues.

For some people, the idea of improving yourself is motivating. For others, it can be more helpful to think about it as growth. Growth is positive and not always a straight line.Improving yourself is a very personal journey, and the specifics can change from person to person. It requires putting in the work and being willing to experience discomfort.Change is uncomfortable.

Growth requires stretching past what you know. But every step you take is part of the process toward becoming the best version of yourself.Behavior change can be a long process, but it doesn’t have to be grueling. In his talk, Atomic Habits, James Clear talks about the power of improving just 1% every day. Improving yourself can be a series of small habit changes, like taking five minutes in your day to be more mindful. Or it can be a more involved process, like overcoming fears. However, bettering yourself doesn’t mean changing the core of who you are.

For example, if you’re an introvert, you shouldn’t aim to become an extrovert. On the other hand, if you have social anxiety, you can practice learning techniques to get past your discomfort. Eventually you may fully conquer your social anxiety so that you can navigate social settings with more ease.

Chances are you’ve probably had someone tell you to “just be positive” or to “look on the bright side!” And while they may be well-intentioned, as anyone who has ever been blindsided by a breakup, taken care of a sick family member, or laid off from work will tell you, that’s often an easier-said-than-done scenario.

But here’s the thing: Being a positive person may have less to do with staying positive all the time and more to do with having a resilient (not to mention realistic) response. “The most helpful definition of being positive is having hope and confidence in one’s ability to handle what’s tough, along with remembering that nothing is all negative all the time,” explains Jo Eckler, PsyD, an Austin-based therapist and author of I Can’t Fix You—Because You’re Not Broken.

People Often Say That Adversity Makes You Stronger But That's Not Always True. (Motivational Speech)

4 Proven Ways to Overcome Adversity
By Tiffany Mason

Does it seem like every challenge that you experience becomes a big headache in your life?

No matter what adverse events you are currently experiencing, there is a purpose behind each one. For most of us, it’s difficult to imagine that losing a child or finding out that you have cancer is a blessing. I know from personal experience.

I was sexually molested and exploited at the age of 18. It took me a while to view it as a learning experience. The way in which you view adversity will either allow you to be set free from the heartache, confusion, guilt, and fear or allow you to be negatively affected in every aspect of your life.

After experiencing an adverse event, you will be at a crossroads. You can either view it as a blessing or allow your past to control the rest of your life.

Here are four proven ways to overcome adversity:

  1. Surround yourself with positive people. Be selective with the people you surround yourself with. Indirectly they will affect your mood and your outlook. When you are in an emotional state of mind, it’s important to surround yourself with people who are supportive and encouraging. Human beings conform to those around them. Conformity is the change of behavior caused by another person or group of people. When experiencing adversity, it’s crucial in your development to surround yourself with people who are accepting of your flaws, mistakes, and imperfections. Overcoming adversity can be a challenge; when you have a supportive team helping you move forward, it’s much easier to accept yourself.

  2. Write. There is something so peaceful in writing down your thoughts. However short or long your journal entries are, the process of writing down your emotions allows you to reflect. There are many benefits to writing:
    Allows for self-expression
Helps give feedback about your life
Allows you to better understand your current situation
Allows you to think outside the box
    Makes you a better philosopher
Writing in a journal once a day can help in you overcome adversity. Whatever emotions, feelings or thoughts come to mind, jot it down. Years from now you’ll be able to reflect and see just how much you have developed.

  3. Be in nature. Nature is very therapeutic. Living in a society where we are constantly moving around, we are disconnected from the beauty of nature. Whether it be walking in the park or gardening at home, taking the time to connect yourself with nature is a very healing process. There have been more than 100 research studies that have shown that outdoor activities reduce the level of stress. With adversity comes stress and frustration. Taking the time to be outside is a way for you to nurture your being and allow yourself to take a deep breath and relax. The sun and the air give you a sense of calmness during the face of adversity. Take about 10-20 minutes outside each day and find your stress level decreasing.

  4. Start investing in yourself. There is no greater investment than the investment within your own personal development. Experiencing adversity is a great excuse for people not to take charge of their lives. We all face adversity in some way. What makes one individual succeed and another not is how they handle their adversity. Many of us allow challenges to defeat us. What we need to focus on is developing into a stronger and wiser individual because of the challenges. There is no better way to do so than developing your internal world.
Get yourself a library card and start reading self-help books. Take a look at the audio section and find yourself a few audio programs that you would like to listen to in the car. It’s about starting that momentum moving forward rather than backward.

Your adversity is a blessing in disguise. You may not think so at the moment, but it will eventually make you stronger and wiser.

5 reasons why you got to believe in yourself
1. Who you are and will become is 100% down to you. The reality is you are in full control of your life. So you are the only one who can achieve your dreams. No one else will do them for you. So believe you can achieve those dreams and you will.

  1. Once you believe, your mindset will be set to succeed hence it will actively be focused on finding opportunities. You will see challenges as opportunities to learn, attract different ways of moving towards your dream and notice more options on what you can do to move forward.

  2. You need to believe in yourself to get started and to keep the momentum. Use every bit of belief to fuel yourself to take action after action towards your dreams.

  3. Your vision of yourself and your life is your greatest asset. So make it a good one and use it wisely!

  4. Choosing to believe you can succeed will drive you and inspire you (the way an athlete trains for years because they believe they can win in the Olympics). (Fiona Harrold)

5 tips to get you to believe in yourself

  1. Fake it until you make it. Not quite sure yet? Trick yourself into it. Behave as if you’re one step away from achieving your dream or that you’ve already made it. It’s all about your mindset so if you fake your belief in yourself long enough, it will come naturally. You’ll realize, “Hey, I can do this for real!”

  2. Behave and act like you believe and your feelings will join you later. Maybe you need to take the first step in order to believe. Treat every step towards your dreams as a success (regardless of outcome as there’s no such thing as failure, only learning). And with every step believe in yourself more.

  3. Work your own personal style. If you feel confident & attractive, you’ll radiate confidence & attractiveness (and vice versa).

  4. If you have a dream that you’re passionate about, you must protect it. Don’t let people interrupt you and tell you that you can’t do something. They’re simply scared they’ll watch you achieve yours when they haven’t achieved theirs. Protect your dream, go for it and inspire them to go for theirs.

  5. Look at someone who’s already done it. It tells your rational mind that it’s achievable. No one’s done it yet? So what? You can be the first. (Fiona Harrold)

You can believe in yourself. You will believe in yourself. You do believe in yourself.

Nothing is impossible. The word itself says “I’m Possible.” – Audrey Hepburn

Your Team Doesn't Care If You Are a Superstar (Motivational Speech)

The Recommended reading for team leadership: (affiliate links)
https://amzn.to/3bLoyau
https://amzn.to/2DPOVzF

  1. Make time to lead
To be effective, team leaders need to invest time in the role. Too often, this responsibility is simply added onto someone’s already lengthy task list, thus setting the new leader up for failure. As a team leader, you need to be visible to the team and available to support them. If you’re predominantly tied up with your own critical hands-on tasks, you won’t be. So, be sure to review and re-negotiate your workload before taking on a leadership role in the first place.

  2. Get to know your team
Leadership is all about how you influence your team to achieve its objectives—something you’ll struggle to do if you don’t get to know your team members and what makes them tick. While it might be tempting to jump in and start making big moves from day one, remember that you’re not there to flex your ego.

Take time to listen to your team members; find out what their issues and aspirations are, gather ideas, and identify potential strengths and weaknesses. Only then can you formulate a leadership approach that stands a chance of success. Getting to know who you’re working with is the first all-important step to bonding with the team and establishing their respect and trust. The old adage of listening twice as much as you speak still holds true.

  1. Communicate, communicate, communicate
Once your team is up and running, it’s imperative to keep the communication going to build relationships, assess progress, and identify risks and issues. Plus, you’ll get more engagement from team members if they see you investing time in them and showing interest in their activities. Make expectations and responsibilities clear so that everyone knows who’s doing what, why and by when. This seems obvious but don’t assume everyone has your detailed understanding of the project at hand. Encourage and embrace new ideas. The more your team can contribute to the project, the happier they’ll be.

  2. Lead by example
Think about the behaviors you want and expect from your team members and be sure to exhibit those traits yourself. You’re the role model, so what you say and do will impact the team’s daily work habits and attitudes. That said, it’s important to be yourself and to believe in yourself. If you fake it, you’ll soon be unmasked and you’ll lose credibility and trust.

Be open, honest and passionate. Treat everyone on the team fairly, with respect and without favoritism and you’ll find those behaviors returned. Extend the same courtesy to the rest of the organization as well. Never undermine or criticize other individuals or departments in front of the team. Make it clear you’re all there to work towards success for the big picture.

  1. Reward the good and learn from the bad (and the ugly)
Be quick to recognize good performance and reward it where appropriate. You might not be in a position to hand out pay raises and promotions but a little bit of verbal praise goes a long way in showing your team you are both aware of and appreciative of their achievements.

Be equally as timely in tackling poor performance issues. The longer you leave them, the tougher they’ll be to fix. Look for the best in people and understand that mistakes will happen. When they do, learn from them and see how they can be prevented in the future. And whatever you do, don’t play the blame game.

If you need to have a challenging conversation, do it in private; no public floggings. And don’t try to win a popularity contest. Not all your feedback and initiatives will be well-received, but if you concentrate more on being everyone’s friend instead of being a strong leader, the work will suffer, as will your integrity.

  1. Delegate
Trust your team to do its job. Being a team leader doesn’t mean you’re there to do other people’s work for them. Be clear on what’s expected of everyone and let them get on with it. When issues or opportunities arise, empower the team to find a resolution themselves with your support—don’t add every new issue to your own to-do list.

  2. Be decisive
Don’t procrastinate. Grab the nettle when you need to. It’s all too easy to defer the difficult decisions, but ultimately costly for the job in hand and how you’re viewed as a leader. If things go wrong, take a breath, gather the information you need to make an educated decision and make it. Don’t be afraid of seeking help (it’s a sign of strength, not weakness). Team management is an ongoing learning process and you will never have all the answers.

  3. Enjoy it!
Team leadership is often challenging but frequently rewarding. Heading up a team that’s working well and delivering results is a great feeling, so go do it! (Kevin Crump)

How Long Does it Really Take to Become a Successful?

As of late, I’ve had a lot of people asking me how long it’s taken me to become a successful freelancer. I find that the answer is quite subjective based on what your definition of success is, but I’m going to try my best to find an average based on personal experience and available data.

Defining Success
For the sake of example, let’s say that your idea of success is simply making a profit. In that case, I was able to do that as soon as my first year as a freelancer.

On the other hand, let’s say your idea of success is being able to pay for your living expenses. That may take a little longer, but in this day and age it can still be done rather quickly.

Now, let’s say you want to make six figures in revenue. I might get close to that this year, but it’s taken me a few years to do it. I’ve heard other six-figure freelancers say it’s taken them about five to six years to reach get to six-figure status.

See what I mean by the answer depending on what success means to you? Everyone has a different definition and different circumstances in their lives that can affect how long it takes them to become a successful freelancer.

Rule of Thumb
While there is no clear-cut answer to how long it takes to become a successful freelancer, there is a rule of thumb for most businesses when it comes to profitability. That rule of thumb is that it takes an average of three years for a business to become profitable, assuming they even make it past the first year.

This seems to be in line with my own experience. While I was making a profit from the beginning, the first two years were pretty hard in terms of revenue and expenses. Most of the money would go back into the business and I had little for myself.

When I started going into year three, things changed drastically. Suddenly people were approaching me for work without me having to hustle as hard as before. About three months into the third year I’d tripled the monthly revenue from the year before. Now that I’m about to celebrate my three year anniversary as a full-time freelancer, I’m on track to double my revenue from last year.

I also had a mentor who always told me “Just make it to year three and you’ll be fine.” I now see why she said that.

How to Become a Successful Freelancer
Just like there’s no clear-cut answer to determine how long it takes to become a successful freelancer, there’s also no clear cut formula on how to do it. However, here are some of the traits I’ve seen among successful freelancers:

Consistency. Successful freelancers are consistent. They are consistent in their work, consistent in the hustle and consistent in building their own brands. All the little actions they’ve taken over time eventually reach a tipping point.
Resiliency. Successful freelancers are resilient. That means they keep going even if they failed somewhere along the way.
Always striving to improve. Successful freelancers are always striving to improve usually by means of educating themselves and seeking mentors.
Take action. Successful freelancers don’t just dream about having a successful freelance business, they take action.
These four traits are the ones I see time and time again in successful freelancers. They are also the traits that certainly help them become successful much faster. (Amanda Abella)

A Thoughts Power Only Comes From The Power You Give It! (Motivational Speech)

Recommended readings to stop negative thoughts: (affiliate links)
https://amzn.to/332Jndt

Stop Negative Thoughts

Did you know that the thoughts that you think dictate the feelings that you feel? Feelings and emotions are a result of chemical reactions taking place in your body. These reactions are responsible negative emotions like anger and sadness, as well as positive feelings like love and happiness. So it makes sense that in order to overcome negative thoughts you must change your thought pattern, otherwise known as using "thought stopping."

Getting Started
Next time you are feeling down, upset, or negative try keeping track of your thoughts for a few hours. Carry a small notebook, or use your phone or tablet to keep track of every negative or sad thought that you have. You might be surprised to see how many of your thoughts are negative. Of course the fact that you are even keeping track of your thoughts can impact what you are thinking about. Studies show that the average person thinks a negative thought every two minutes! After writing down the negative or sad thoughts, immediately write down or say out loud a positive thought.

Come up with a list of positive thoughts that you can tell yourself, or use our list. Keep your list with you so that it is ready when you encounter negative thoughts.

Practice
The more that you practice thought stopping and start replacing those negative thoughts with positive statements, the better you will feel over time. Negative thinking is a habit, and like all habits, it takes time and effort to break.

In the same way, positive thinking is a skill that must be used over and over again before it becomes effective. By learning to take care of yourself and by controlling your thoughts, you can learn to overcome negative feelings associated with depression. Give yourself 30 days to work on changing your thoughts and you will start to notice significant differences in the way that you feel. Source: https://bit.ly/3bxooDp

Stop Trying To Prove Naysayers Wrong, Instead Focus On Proving God Right(Motivational Speech)

10 Clear Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Care What Others Think
It is human nature to want to be liked and accepted. However, this often leads to people worrying too much about what others are thinking about them.
This kind of excessive worrying can have a negative effect on your life. It can be so debilitating that it interferes with your ability to feel at ease with yourself and around others. Do not let it prevent you from living your life to the fullest potential.

Here are ten reasons why you should not care about what others think:

  1. It’s Not Their Life, So It’s None Of Their Business
People are entitled to think whatever they want, just as you are entitled to think what you want. What people think of you cannot change who you are or what you are worth, unless you allow them to.

This is your life to live. At the end of the day you are the only person who needs to approve of your own choices.

  1. They Don’t Know What’s Best For You
Nobody will ever be as invested in your life as you. Only you know what is best for you, and that entails learning from your own choices. The only way you will ever truly learn is through making your own decisions, taking full responsibility for them, and that way if you do fail, at least you can learn from it wholeheartedly, as opposed to blaming somebody else.

  2. What’s Right For Someone Else May Be Completely Wrong For You
It’s important to recognize that someone’s opinion is often based on what they would do. This alone is the problem. What is best for somebody else, can be the worst thing for you. What one person considers garbage can be another person’s treasure. We are all so unique. Only you know what is right for you.

  3. It Will Keep You From Your Dreams
If you are constantly worried about what other people think, you will never get to where you need to go in life. You are going to have to do things that don’t always meet people’s standards. You will come into situations where you have to put your pride, and your reputation on the line to get what you want. If you are constantly worried about what people are thinking, you will never have the will to do what’s right.

  4. You’re The One Stuck With The End Result
In life, you are the one stuck with the consequences of your decisions. For example, if someone suggests you buy some stocks, but you just don’t feel like it’s the right choice, you are the only one who will live the consequences. If the stock falls and you lose a lot of money, you are the one that will have to live with the fact that you didn’t follow your inner call. When people give you their suggestions or even orders, there is no risk for them. They don’t have to live with your choices—but you do.

  5. People’s Thoughts Change On A Regular Basis
We are constantly changing. Some philosophers and theorists suggest that we are in a constant state of flux, so much that we cannot even say we have one, specific ‘self’ (or a fixed personality). People’s thoughts, ideas and views change on a regular basis.

That means even if somebody does think badly of you at the moment, there is a good chance they will think differently in the near future. So basically, people’s thoughts don’t really matter.

  1. Life Is Simply Too Short
You only have one life to live, so why would you spend it worrying about other people’s opinions? Do whatever you want, be whoever you want. You’re not going to see these people after you’re dead. You probably won’t even see them in a year from now. Live your life without worrying about other people’s thoughts and opinion, and you will live your life to the maximum.

  2. You Reap What You Sow
Worrying too much about what other people think of you can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Frequently, people indulge their need to be liked so much so that it actually dictates to the way they behave. Some become people-pleasers or so submissive that many people are turned off. The behavior you use as an attempt to ensure you are liked may actually cause you to be disliked.

  3. Others Don’t Care As Much As You Think
People generally don’t think outside themselves a great deal of time. It is a sad but simple truth that the average person filters their world through their ego, meaning that they think about most things in terms of “me” or “my”.

This means that, unless who you are or what you have done directly affects another person or their life, they are unlikely to spend much time thinking about you at all.

  1. The Hard Truth: It’s Impossible To Please Everybody
You can’t please all of the people all of the time. It is impossible to live up to everyone’s expectations so there is no point in burning yourself out trying to do so. Just make sure that one of the people you please is yourself!

How Long Does It Take To Become Successful?
I know you’ve never done this, but sometimes I play the dangerous comparison game by looking at other blogs, podcasts, or businesses around me and wondering…

Why do they have more Twitter followers than me?

Why is their podcast ranked higher in iTunes?

Why do they get more comments on their blog?

Why are they seemingly more successful than me?

It’s not a worthwhile or rewarding game to play, so I wouldn’t recommend it.

My friend Jon Acuff says, “Never compare your beginning to someone else’s middle.”

But one thing I’ve noticed about all “successful” people I look up to is this: they’ve been at it for a long time. They are not a random flash in the pan soaking in their 10 minutes of glory. They’ve been grinding away at their craft for years and years.

In his book Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell popularized the idea that it takes 10,000 hours of practice to become successful (or even master) any skill. That’s a long time. Just for kicks, let’s say you worked 40 hours per week at your craft for 50 weeks per year…it would still take you 5 years to get to 10,000 hours. And realistically, most of us won’t put in 40 hours per week specifically to that one single craft.

Take speaking for example. In my career, I’ve given around 1,000 presentations (we’ll say ~1 hour each) and practiced and worked at the craft for another 1,000-2,000 hours. That still puts me only 20-30% of the way towards the 10,000 hour goal.

Recently I watched a new documentary called Muse which was all about the life and career of NBA star Kobe Bryant. One theme that stood out to me was how much Kobe constantly practices, works out, and is striving to improve. The natural reaction from most of us would be…but you’re Kobe Bryant? Why do you need to spend so much time practicing? You’re already one of the best in the game?

But I have to wonder…would Kobe Bryant be the Kobe Bryant we all know if he didn’t have that same level of practice, dedication and commitment to his craft? Probably not.

In the world of podcasting, one of the names consistently at the top of the rankings is personal finance expert Dave Ramsey. How is it that Dave has such a big audience and loyal following?

Because he’s been doing a radio show 3 hours per day, 5 days per week for over 20 years. Let’s assume he takes off a few weeks per year, he still has over 15,000 hours of recording time invested. Why is he so successful? Because he’s been so consistent for so long!

Maybe you’ve heard the expression that it takes 10 years to become an overnight success. Although you thought that person or business just came out of nowhere and was handed a magical fast pass to the front of the line, you didn’t see the hours and hours they put in to get to where they are.

Here are some simple lessons I’ve noticed about success…

  1. It always takes longer than you want to wait
We want success to happen now. Not later. Not someday. Not even tomorrow. Now. Right now. But have you noticed that food tastes better when cooked in a crockpot versus a microwave? Why is that? Because some flavors in food just take time to come out and can’t be coaxed out faster by zapping it.

I’m a naturally impatient person, and I hate waiting. But I also know that generally the best things in life take time to grow.

  1. You’ll want to quit long before you should
In his book The Dip, Seth Godin talks about how we often quit in the midst of a dip right before it’s about to get good. We often hit “the dip” in business, relationships or life and quit right before we’re about to hit the up slope. But he says that “winners realize that the bigger the barrier, the bigger the reward for getting past it.”

Don’t give up my friend. Keep pushing. Keep fighting. Keep digging. Keep doing the work. You’ve come so far. Don’t quit now.

  1. If it were easy, everyone would do it
As a speaker, I get asked a lot from people how to get started in the business. I’m always happy to show others exactly what I’ve done to build my speaking career. Initially I was worried I was giving away my best secrets or that I was just creating more competition for myself. But I quickly noticed even if I told someone exactly what to do to become a speaker, they rarely did it. Just because it’s not complicated doesn’t mean it’s easy.

Why are so many people overweight or out of shape? Because although regular exercise and paying attention to what you eat is not complicated advice, it’s not easy to follow through on.

So it brings us all the way back to the original question…

How long does it take to become successful?

I don’t know the exact number, but I know if you’re asking the question, you’ve still got work to do. Keep hustling my friend. (Grant Baldwin)

Stop Fighting Your Negative Thoughts
It's not bad to have negative thoughts. The problem is when we believe them.
If you're like me, you’ve read countless articles (heck, I’ve probably written one) and tried different techniques to get rid of those pesky negative thoughts — those little gremlins in your mind that tell you all sorts of awful things.

Guess what? You can learn to get rid of negative thoughts.

In the book, The Happiness Trap, author Russ Harris says 80 percent of everyone's thoughts contain some sort of negative content. So it's normal to have negative thoughts. It's part of our evolutionary heritage. We’re constantly scanning our environment (generating negative thoughts all the while) looking for problems to fix.

The difficulty isn’t that we have negative thoughts. The problem comes when we believe our thoughts are true.

Talk To Yourself Instead of Listening To Yourself (Motivational Speech)

Your Words Are Powerful: 8 Positive Speaking Habits to Build Yourself Up

Have you ever heard yourself saying:

“This situation (or person) is just impossible.”
“I’m a total failure at…” or “I’m hopeless at…”
“I’ll never be able to figure this out.”
“I’ll try, but…”
“It’s just such a nightmare.”

If you answered “yes” to any of those, then it’s likely you’ve unconsciously been sabotaging your success simply by how you speak. Psychological research has found that your subconscious interprets what it hears very literally. Your mind and body will follow the direction your words lead. So if you want more influence, confidence, connection or opportunities to come your way, begin with what you’re projecting into the world each time you open your mouth.

The words you use hold immense power. Power to fuel your confidence and ambition and power to make you feel anxious and inadequate. Power to make a strong first impression and power to be quickly forgotten. Power to create opportunities and power to shut them down.

As someone who speaks at conferences around the world, I’ve had hundreds of people say to me, “I could never do you what you do,” or, “Public speaking scares me to death.” Of course, not everyone feels called to be on a stage on a regular basis, but using language like “never” and “scared to death” can keep people who would benefit from building their presentation skills from even trying.

The saying, “The words you speak become the house you live in,” holds great truth. The world mirrors yourself back to you. If you use positive language about yourself and your ability to meet challenges and achieve your goals, then that is what will show up for you externally. Likewise, if you continually make declarations about yourself or your circumstances that echo hopelessness, incite fear, nurture anxiety and breed pessimism, then those words will shape your reality, too. And not in good ways!

Your language also impacts how others perceive and relate to you. If you often feel overlooked or undervalued, consider how your speech patterns are contributing to how others engage with you. Using “out of power language”—like talking yourself down, making excuses or second-guessing your opinion before you’ve even shared it—can completely undermine your authority, presence and power. Listen to any successful person and you will notice they use language that is positive, precise, action-focused and continually puts deposits of trust into their relationships.

As I wrote in Stop Playing Safe, neuroscience has proven that every one of us has the ability to rewire our brains with ongoing practice and to replace destructive habits of thought, speech and behavior with more positive ones. Turning negative speech habits into positive ones begins with transparency (since we often aren’t even aware of how we’re sabotaging our own success, it’s so habitual!). I recommend two things. First, begin by monitoring your language over the next 24 hours. Second, ask someone else to monitor you as well, as our habits are often invisible to us! Then make the decision to replace language that is qualifying, passive and imprecise with language that is positive, specific and declarative—the kind that puts you firmly in command, shifts your energy and, in doing so, makes you someone others want to listen to.
