In her message entitled “One,” Pastor Jennie explores the importance of unity as a church body and remarks on our oneness in Christ, as demonstrated in Ephesians 4:1-16. In this scripture, Paul appeals to Christians to live in a way which reflects the grace we’ve been given by God. Doing so brings spiritual maturity and keeps us from being “up and down” in our relationship with our Heavenly Father.

In today’s message from Mark 5:21-43, Pastor Jennie will look closer at life’s little (or big?) interruptions – the disruption of our best-laid plans. It’s been said that “Interruptions are where the real ministry begins.” When we are out of hope, we fall at the feet of Jesus and are reminded that He has authority over our lives. It’s only when we embrace those interruptions that we experience the Kingdom of God at work in and around us.

In today’s scripture reading, the disciples appear to be overwhelmed by the storm raging around them, and losing faith. “Don’t you care, Lord?” they ask. Yes, the winds are blowing. Yes, the waves are crashing into the boat. Yes, our footing seems lost. But together, we can survive any storm that comes our way. Mark 4: 35-41 tells us how.

Many consider this annual high holy day as the birthday of the church. Worship leader Grant Butler shares a timely message today: “Who is the Holy Spirit?”

Today in worship, we ask: what does a life of sacrificial love look like? For some, it looks like a mother’s love; for others, it’s more personal. The secret: the more we love, the more we are able to love. The “greatest love” is deemed so because it grows. It grows within us and between us. Love begets more love. This is what living the Resurrection is all about.

Although we don't have modern day slavery in America, there is still long-lasting racial prejudice and racism beginning from times of slavery to our current society that wrongfully erodes the loving community that Christ calls us to live into.
