St. George's Anglican Church
St. George’s Anglican Church, Burlington is a vibrant, Christ-centred, church family located in Burlington, Ontario. Each Sunday we gather to worship God, fellowship with one another and hear the preaching of the good news about Jesus Christ. We record most of the sermons preached and you can listen to them here on this podcast. We hope they are an encouragement to you.
In Mark 14:1–11, we see a striking contrast between betrayal and devotion. Judas was close to Jesus, yet betrayed him, while an unnamed woman poured out a costly and extravagant gift in worship. What makes her devotion so beautiful? She understood that Jesus was going to the cross to die for her. Her costly gift was a response to his even greater gift of himself. We live for him because he died for us.
What is happening in our world, and where is it all going? In Mark 13, Jesus gives us the answer—not so that we can predict the date of his return, but so that we can know how to live faithfully until he comes. As history moves toward the return of Christ, Jesus calls his people to stand firm, reject deception, refuse anxiety, remain watchful, and stay awake.
Jesus sees beyond outward appearances and religious performance. In Mark 12:38–44, He contrasts the hypocrisy of the scribes with the quiet, wholehearted faith of a poor widow who gives everything she has. But ultimately, the passage points us to Jesus, who held nothing back and gave His life for us.
In Mark 12:13–37, Jesus exposes the empty religion of the Pharisees, Sadducees, and scribes, revealing that outward morality and religious knowledge are no substitute for a transformed heart. True faith is found in repentance, wholehearted devotion, and trust in Christ.
In Mark 12:1–12, Jesus tells the Parable of the Tenants, exposing false religion, revealing God's sovereign plan, and announcing that His kingdom is given to all who trust in Christ. Discover what it means to live as faithful stewards, finding hope in His providence, even in suffering.
In Mark 11, Jesus boldly reveals His authority over Jerusalem, the temple, and all of God's promises. Discover why empty religion can never save, how Christ fulfills the Old Testament, and why the only hope for every person is to repent, believe, and follow Him.
As Jesus makes His final journey to Jerusalem, He encounters Bartimaeus - a blind beggar who sees more clearly than the crowds around him. His response to Jesus becomes a model of true discipleship, showing us what it means to hear, believe, and follow Christ.
Disciples of Jesus look for opportunities–whether in the church, home or work–to set aside their own needs, desires and preferences and place a higher value on the needs of others. Do you use your power to subjugate or serve? What would your marriage, family and workplace look like if you used your power and authority for the highest and best of others, rather than yourself.
How much do your possessions hold you or hinder you on your journey to your heavenly home? Money, wealth and possessions can be wonderful tools for the Christian, but they are relentless taskmasters if you cling to them as your saviour.
In Mark 10:1–16, Jesus addresses two deeply personal and often difficult subjects - marriage and children. What does God's design for marriage reveal about His covenant love? Why does Jesus say that we must receive the kingdom of God like a little child?
To belong to the Lord Jesus Christ will demand a completely different approach to your life. If you want to be first, you must take the lowly place. If you want to be a leader, you must find a way to humbly serve. Those who belong to him will seek out people who can do nothing in exchange for them. They will serve them, sacrifice for them - all for the sake of Christ.
Struggling Christian, come to the Lord and confess your doubts. Admit your weakness; be honest in your desperate need and you will find the strength of God. You may be wondering whether your weak and flagging faith is enough, but little is much when you bring it to the Lord. He won’t extinguish a smouldering wick or break a bruised reed.
Metamorphosis and change is right at the heart of the Christian life. We are changed and are being changed, and on the last day we will be fully changed. The gospel tells us that we are not fatalistically determined to continue in the same destructive patterns of brokenness that we may find ourselves in today.
If you cling to your life and act as those you are the centre of the universe, then the very life that you are clinging to will slip through your fingers. It is only through dying to yourself and bowing your knee to Christ that you will find true and abiding life.
Jesus asks every person the same question: “Who do you say that I am?" No one else can answer this question for you. Which Jesus do you confess? A therapeutic Jesus? A political Jesus? A self-help Jesus? Or the crucified and risen Christ?
In Mark 8:11–21, Jesus confronts two kinds of spiritual blindness: the hardened unbelief of the Pharisees and the temporary blindness of the disciples. One rejects Christ completely. The other forgets Him in moments of fear and need.
The problem isn’t that you have too many desires, the problem is that sin misguides you in your desires and directs you to something that won’t satisfy you. But only the Lord Jesus Christ can truly satisfy the deepest need of your soul.
Sin is not merely a behavioural issue—it’s an issue of the heart and the affections. Your life is always moving in the direction of your deepest loves. You can change behaviour with discipline, but only Jesus Christ can transform your heart.
Why is it so easy to go through the motions while our hearts drift far from God and why is that so dangerous? Through loopholes and our own modern excuses, religious activity can often be a mask for disobedience. But the gospel offers real hope: we don’t fix our hearts - God gives us new ones. Discover how Christ’s perfect heart secures our acceptance and fuels genuine, heartfelt obedience.
When you hear the message of the resurrection, will you respond with open-hearted faith that leads to transformation? Or will it remain just another interesting idea—something to discuss, but not something that changes your life?
In the midst of whatever storm you are facing, Jesus comes to you. The remedy for your fears is not minimizing your hardship, it is found in looking to God who is greater than your hardship.
True discipleship means both being sent out to serve and coming away with Jesus to be spiritually renewed. In a world full of distraction, Christ meets our deepest need - not just physical provision, but the nourishment of His Word and His presence.
To be a follower of Jesus in times like today is not for the feint of heart. To follow Jesus requires hardship today, but life and joy everlasting.
Anyone who allows their desperation to drive them to the feet of the Lord Jesus Christ, will find that he is willing to heal them. Jesus welcomes the rich and the powerful, the poor and the lowly - everyone who approaches him with humility and the awareness of their need to be saved.
Fear not the wind and waves - Satan and his legion. Instead, fear the Lord, and in fearing Him, find that He is good, loving and stronger than any demonic force in your life.
Since Jesus came, nothing is secret. Christ made explicit everything that was already implicit about God. We don’t have to hope that God is merciful - we look to the cross and see it plain and clear.
Jesus is the one who calls people to himself. If you desire to be Christ's own, then that is the evidence that you are called by Him. Salvation belongs to the Lord God - it is His work.
Trust the Lord enough to come to Him honestly, exposing your sin with all its shame. Trust that He is the God who restores the humble.
You can observe all of the rules and external things, but if you don't know Christ you have nothing, for He is Lord over all things.
In the healing of the paralytic, we are confronted with the truth that Jesus has the power to forgive sin. If you are overwhelmed by your sin, go to Jesus. He saves everyone who comes to him.
In the account of the cleansing of the leper, we behold our salvation. Jesus takes our place, bearing our uncleanness and transferring His purity to us. He enters the desolate place so we would never be God-forsaken.
To follow the Lord Jesus Christ will come with a cost. It may feel like it is costing you everything, but through it you will gain all of eternity.
God comes to us in Jesus. He comes in amnesty. He comes not to kill, but to be killed; not to condemn, but to save us from the wrath we deserve. This is the good news of Jesus that we proclaim.
The Christian embraces both the old and the new, embracing the whole of Scripture. We rightly inherit and understand the Old Testament through the light of the New.
Joyfully give up everything to gain the treasure of the gospel, for it is of surpassing worth. Compared to this treasure, everything else in your life are but shadows and dust.
If you give your life to pulling up weeds in the church, you will likely crush the very bruised reed that Jesus came to save. The Lord has been patient with you. Show the same grace to others.
Some will walk away from Jesus when faced with uncertainty and a lack of understanding, but instead run to Jesus. He is always more willing to answer than we are to ask.
If you are in Christ, you are no longer of the first Adam - you are of the second Adam. You are not bound by your DNA. You have been transferred from the lineage of Cain to the lineage of Seth.
Christian, when you sin, don’t run away from the Lord God - repent and turn toward Him. Our God is so good. Everything he says and does is about abundance, not scarcity. He wants us to thrive and even the things that he withholds from us are for our own good and for our flourishing.
Whenever we try to make ourselves the ultimate arbitrator of what is good and what is evil, we are in fact trying to usurp the role of the Lord God.
God designed an ordered world that can be joyfully inhabited under his rule. When creation lives under His rule, all things find their place and flourish.
Much of the struggle we face in our lives is because we live in the in-between, where we are waiting for God to fulfill his promises. These in-between moments require a simple trust in God's character and a life lived by faith, not by sight.
Divine justice helps us make sense of the world. When we understand God’s justice and wrath, we see how it is His love burning hot. Only when we grasp God’s wrath against evil can we truly see the gospel as precious.
In a world that holds out vice as virtue and sin as righteousness, it is the ministry of the Holy Spirit to untangle these knots in your heart and ground you in the truth of Christ.
Christ has ascended and is going to come back to bring the Kingdom of God in its fullness. Don’t waste your time staring up into the sky. Go and be His witnesses to the ends of the Earth.
God doesn’t promise you a life of ease, but he does promise he’ll be with you through it all. There is no place, no time, where you are ever apart from the Lord Jesus Christ.
The great commission is all about showing how everything has always been about Jesus. The Christian faith is not empty-headed optimism, it has content and that content is the Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus is ruling and reigning over everything in the cosmos - over every prime minister, every president, every king. There is not a square inch over all creation where Christ is not sovereign.
Worship is your entire life rooted in and growing out of the truth of God’s love for you in Jesus. Evangelism exists so that worship of the Lord Jesus Christ will exist in places where it doesn’t right now.

This is the deep truth of the universe; all of human history turns on this moment - Jesus Christ was crucified, died and raised to new life.
Growing in your Christian life means progressively bringing every area of your life under the lordship of Jesus. In Jesus’ kingdom there is no room for those who only pay lip service to him.
What is God like? He is merciful and gracious, abounding in steadfast love. If you repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, then all those sins that you can't forget, God no longer remembers.
Joy and contentment is not found in the "next thing" - it is only found through loving and trusting the Lord Jesus Christ, whether you find yourself in Babylon or Jerusalem.
Wisdom looks at a world in decline, repents and calls others to repent; it is about knowing the Lord and living your life centred around faithfulness to Him.
There are far too many Christians that think that the truest things about this world are the things they can experience with their own senses. But reality is spiritual being playing out in the material. God created a theatre of time and space to unfurl his spiritual glory.
Kingdoms rise and kingdoms fall. Times are difficult, but we rejoice, because we are one step closer to our eternal home.
Kings and kingdoms will rise and fall, but it is all under the watch of the Ancient of Days. So, live a life of service to Him, that is always about the true King’s business.
Every single person who belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ can look at this world, which is coming to an end, without fear and with joy, because the Ancient of Days rules over the nations.
Work diligently and trust the Lord. Your response to trials and hardships should never be reactionary; they should arise from a resolve built through a life of humble faithfulness to Jesus.
You are not ultimately the king of your own life. There is a king greater than you. Either be humble or be humbled.
It is through the storms that God sends into our lives that we learn who we really are and who God really is. Even the hardships are part of his merciful plan.
If you find yourself in the fiery furnace of this world, know that in the flames of persecution you will see and know the Lord. He will grant you the grace to persevere and He will be right there in the flames with you.
Living in interesting times is not a curse, it is a blessing. In these times, God is calling you on a grand adventure; He is calling you to a life of faithfulness in the light of Jesus.
Trust the Lord when you’re living in exile, no matter the cost. Reject the way Babylon will try to make you rely and trust in it, rather than the Lord God.
Prayer is essential to the Christian life. As you spend time in prayer with your loving Heavenly Father, you will find that your will will begin to be conformed to His will.
This is Christmas - the God of Justice lays down his riches and comes to us, so that we might return back to Him.
When you offer to God only your scraps and leftovers, it exposes the fact that your heart is far from Him. But because He is King, He deserves all of your worship and devotion.
Whether you are in exile or in the promised land, incline your heart towards the Lord always. That is where contentment is found.
Christians are committed to integrating and holding together truth and love. Check your heart; are you devoted to the truth because it is the most loving or simply because it fits into your political leaning? It is possible to hold the right value with the wrong heart and therefore be wrong.
The Christian life is about learning to submit more and more to the Lord Jesus Christ, and bowing your knee to Him, who is far above all rulers and authorities and powers.
God has saved you. Therefore, like little children be imitators of God, your Loving Father. When you day by day love and trust God as Father, you will begin to look more like your Father and less like the world around you.
The Christian life is not primarily about putting off old vices, it is about putting on the new self, created after the likeness of Christ.
Before Christ and after Christ; that is the essence of the Christian life; that is the shape of the gospel. Jesus is the turning point, He is the hero of your story.
God has taken your life, which was dead in sin, and He has so bound you to the Lord Jesus Christ, that now what’s true about Jesus is also true about you. You have been raised with Christ to new life and seated with Him in the heavenly places.
Every fear, worry and uncertain moments in our lives are shaped by an unconscious false narrative about God. Expose these false narratives and displace them with the truth of Jesus.
The Lord Jesus Christ rules and reigns over and above all; that is where your spiritual blessing resides. So, see everything in your life as service and praise to Him.
If you are in Christ, you are saved and the kingdom is yours. You can say with the apostle Paul, "He will bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom".
Believer, live with an eternal perspective. Christ is what you’ve been longing for. When you stumble in the marathon, He will be your strength and your nourishment. He is faithful and He will surely see you through.
The role of the church in difficult times is to hold out the gospel, because the world's most desperate need is Jesus.
Remember, there is a gift and a grace that is given to you from the Lord God and it’s not just fortitude or the power of positive thinking. It is a grace and gift of God. It is a supernatural strength found only in Jesus Christ.
Through faith in Jesus you can stand before the heavenly court with a clear conscience. You have been wrapped and clothed with Him.
Don’t just passively lap up the world’s ideas, because they are full of dissonance and lead to destruction. Discern the lies and see the world through the lens of the truth of the gospel.
If you desire is to be rich, if that is what fundamentally moves you, then you have forgotten that you are already rich i the heavenly riches of Christ.
To be a Christian man or woman is a high calling in a world lost in sin and decay. To be a christian elder or pastor is even a higher calling, as you are charged to bear the weight of not only your own soul, but also of those under your charge.
Desperation comes to us as a gift of God. Do not waste the desperate situation you find yourself in. Allow the difficulty and loneliness to press you into a deeper hope in God.
What’s the real problem with the world and our lives? Sin is the problem, and the only solution is to repent and to return to Jesus as both Lord and Saviour.
The biblical witness of God’s ordering of the home is based on the understanding that God created male and female, who are equal recipients of God’s grace in creation and salvation, yet different and distinct. Working together in the harmony God intended, they express the very glory of God.
The way that we present ourselves outwardly can reveal the state of our souls. Where do we look for love, attention and self-worth? Man or God?
Strength that is found in Christ Jesus is solid ground, because it is built not on hiding your past, but in confessing your past. No past sin can undo what Christ has done in you, because you have a faithful Saviour who is stronger than your sin. That is a place of utmost strength.
There are only two binary identities on the planet. Saved, or not saved. In Christ, or not in Christ. Find your identity in Jesus, for He is the only remedy for your soul.
Christian, God the Holy Spirit dwells in You. The God of the universe is intimately present with you. He has come and made His home with you.
True faith in Jesus happens when God grants you eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart that is tender to receive Him. The gospel works because it changes our hearts.
Earthly empires may rise and fall, but God's church will endure to the end. Your citizenship is in heaven and you have an eternal reward in the gospel that is kept for you and you are kept for it.
Following the Lord Jesus Christ brings purpose and joy, but it never promises ease. If you find yourself faced with difficulties in life, you might be exactly where the Lord is calling you to be.
When you are sharing the gospel, remember that you are witnessing to a person for whom Christ died; for whom Christ shed his blood.
Every time you open your mouth and speak the good news of the Gospel, people are hearing the Living Jesus speaking through you.
What will you do with the resurrection of Jesus? Your whole world rises and falls on this question. You can't take a passive approach to the resurrection, because if Christ has been raised from the dead, then this means you have a Lord and Master. If he was raised, then you will be raised, if you bow your knee before him.
This is the great hope of the gospel, that all that know themselves to be sinners in need of a Saviour, and who look to Jesus Christ for saving, have been uniquely and intimately united to Jesus Christ. So that all that is Christ’s is now theirs.
“Who is Jesus?” is the most important question in the world. The entire cosmos encircles around it, for it is the question at the heart of the universe.
God is the master painter painting the portrait of your life. Sometimes the master paints with dark colours to create a masterpiece far more beautiful than you could have ever imagined.
The One who rules and reigns over everything, who is seated at the right hand of God, comes to you in the night and says, "Take courage. I am praying for you."
Have you ever fallen on your knees and repented before the Risen Jesus? It is possible to spend your whole life seeing Jesus, but never hearing and heeding his call.
If you find yourself in chains, see it as from the Lord. Our hardships shouldn’t be loathed or disdained, but embraced. Think about how this present hardship can further the gospel in your life and press you deeper into the grace of Jesus.
As a saved person, you have been tasked with a job that transcends all other vocations. Your calling is to take the message of salvation to others. It is a calling worthy of your life and it demands courage, conviction and determination.
In our culture, we have lost the virtue of valuing anything more than our own lives, but for the Christian, spending eternity with God is worth far more than our next breath.
There is encouragement in the gospel that displaces the troubles and burdens in your life.
You can never underestimate the power of selfish ambition to bring about destruction in your life. Instead, be ambitious for the gospel and the glory of God.
The Holy Spirit is not tingling feelings, He is the one who grants you a new life and empowers you to live a life marked by obedience and assurance.
If you are a Christian man or woman, God has given you and baptized you in the Holy Spirit. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in you.
It is not enough to just act “godly” or to come to church, you have to repent and turn to Jesus as Lord and Saviour.
Do you want to be truly happy in God? Then delight in the instruction of the Lord. Saturate your life with His word. Make it your foundation and nothing, even trials and suffering, will be able to take away your eternal joy.
Christ comes to only those who know they need a Saviour. He has taken you, a lonely orphan in the cold, and has made you a son and heir of God.
If you want to have life, then life-giving belief begins here - Jesus is God. The babe in the manger is God veiled in human flesh, come to save His people from their sins.
Christian, there is no place you can go apart from the very presence of Jesus. You are so near to him that your entire existence is in him. In Jesus you live and move and have your being.
The Word of God at work turns the world upside down. It is like a little bit of yeast that starts small and microscopic, but then rises and transforms the whole dough.
Every moment and in every situation ask yourself the question, "How is the Gospel of Jesus best served?"
The consistent message of scripture is that we cannot open our hearts to God, instead, it is God who intervenes and opens our hearts. In the end you'll find that you were not pursuing Him, He was always pursuing you.
God takes every one of your experiences and failures and uses them for his good purposes and glory. God can take whatever mess you’ve made of your life and redeem it for good.
The gospel doesn’t burden you, it frees you from your burdens, because it takes your eyes off of yourself and places them onto Jesus.
Be strengthened and encouraged. The tribulations you experience today serve a purpose under the good, sovereign hand of God and lead to glory.
Everything that is good comes from the hand of God. Turn from the dead and useless idols in your life and give thanks to the Living God.
The idols of this world are capricious and there is no joy and confidence to be found in them, but in the gospel of Jesus you will find a truth that frees you.
Live humbly under the Word of God, with a tender heart that is quick to repent and bow its knee to Jesus as Lord and King.
Just as God delivered Peter from chains and the sentence of death at the hands of Herod, so God saves you from death by the shed blood of Jesus.
Jesus is alive, God’s word is best, and the gospel remains the power of God to salvation for all who believe.
God’s people are no longer delineated by what food they eat or by their country of origin. God’s people are marked by their fear of the Lord.
In Jesus, God raises you from the paralysis of sin and death, not only for your comfort, but also so the power and grace of God could be displayed in your life.
Before you were converted, God gave you gifts. He created you intentionally. He knit you together in your mother’s womb. But sometimes we take those gifts and point them in the wrong direction. Repent and redirect your gifts towards God's glory and the good of His church.
Jesus comes to us in love even and especially when we don’t deserve it. God, in Jesus, has paid the price for every past sin and for every sin that you will ever commit, from now to glory.
There is no one beyond the scope of God’s redemptive purposes in Jesus. Every penitent sinner is welcomed into the household of God.
You might be a sincere and kind person, motivated by the best of intentions, but unless you are living under the lordship of Jesus, you are opposing God.
Nothing is beyond the redemptive scope of God's goodness. He can take the apparent unmitigated loss of Stephen being stoned to death and use it to bring about the conversion of St. Paul.
The church must be adaptive in its means, but unshakable in its ends. Don’t ever compromise on the main thing - the preaching of Jesus Christ through the word of God.
We can rejoice with boldness in the face of persecution, because even hardship serves a purpose under the loving, sovereign hand of God.
In the lame beggar we see a picture of our spiritual state before Christ. We are poor, needy and without hope in ourselves, but we have a Saviour who reaches down and raises us up.
Christian devotion, as described in the early church, looks like dedication to apostolic teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread together, and prayer.
The Spirit has been poured out so that you can know that the Jesus who was crucified has been made Lord and Christ.
Every legitimate experience of the Holy Spirit is rooted in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.
Jesus Christ is ascended and is now seated in heaven as the judge, with the scars that prove that your sins are forgiven.
Every single thing that we do and teach is only possible because the Risen Jesus ascended into heaven and sent his Spirit. The heart of every Christian should desire more of the Spirit, that we might effectively bear witness to the good news of the gospel.
The strength of our friendship with Christ is that he comes to us in peace even when we fail him. The Risen Christ comes to you in peace and brings you peace.
When the Risen Christ reveals himself to you in fellowship, the word, and the breaking of bread, your heart will burn within you and you will be born again.
Everything in the created order is under the authority of the risen Jesus. Your task as a christian may be great, but your Lord Jesus is greater than the task.
Apart from a real, historic, bodily resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth the Christ, we are hopeless and helpless before God. An Easterless Christianity is a powerless and hopeless Christianity.
Christian, in prayer and in fasting remember where your true source of nourishment lies. Jesus will fill the deep-seated hunger in your soul. Stop searching for joy and happiness in earthly things and turn to Jesus.
If you are harbouring resentment and unforgiveness, it is because you have forgotten the grace of God in Jesus. When you truly experience the grace of God in Christ Jesus, it will make you gracious towards others.
Until you know God as Father you cannot truly pray. Come to God with child-like wonder. Marvel at things you might have taken for granted. The more that you pray the more you will realize that everything you have is grace.
You don’t need to win an audience with God, you already have him. You have a Father who made you, cares for you and knows you better than you know yourself. So pray to Him with vulnerability and an open heart.
If your picture of paradise is endless relaxation and amusement, then you have been sold a lie. Man was made to work and it is only through work that our rest has any true meaning or value.
God is the one who brings order from chaos. You can see this order and beauty in his elegant universe. Watch as R.D. Glenn opens Genesis 1:1-2:3 and explores creation and our Creator.
Who is God? He has revealed himself, through His Word, to be the Good, Holy and Living God.
The authority of God’s word is central to the Christian life. Don't put yourself over scripture, instead live under it. Let it lay bare your heart and show you the glory of Christ.
The cross is the measure of Christ’s humility. He did not consider anything beneath him. He went all the way down for you and me. Your life is founded on the humble saviour.
You are not defined by sin and failure, you are defined by the will of God, so receive and believe the good news of Jesus and be born of God.
Let the pain and suffering of the last year press you into the God who has visited his people.
In Mary's visit to Elizabeth, we are shown yet again that God keeps his promises. We can trust this sovereign, covenant-making, promise-keeping God.
Let the darkness of this present age press you into Christ our Light. Let advent remind you that He has come and he will come again in glory.
Even David, the mighty warrior, the man after God’s own heart, Israel’s greatest king, eventually died. But God's Forever King, the better David was coming.
In these days of social upheaval, don’t be too quick to turn to your own devices, but instead stand firm on the Rock of your Salvation.
We are all like Absalom, with traitorous, rebellious hearts that seek to usurp the throne. Only after we see that our hearts are by nature like Absalom, can we see the beauty of Jesus.
Like David, we all deserve to die. All of the sin and evil in the world is in you. The gospel is the only solution for the heart of men.
We cannot approach the presence of God through our own means - by the reaching out of our own sinful hands. For God is holy and we would be struck dead in His presence, but we have an advocate.
David wept and mourned at the death of his enemy, Saul. Even more so, Jesus does not rejoice at a death of a sinner, but instead desires that all men might be saved and be brought under his gracious lordship.
How can you become more gracious to others? Return to the cross and remember the mercy God has shown you. We are never more like Jesus than when we forgive others rather than giving them what they deserve.
Jonathan saved David from the ill-tempered wrath of his father, Saul, but Jesus saved us from the just wrath of his Father - the Lord Almighty. We didn't deserve saving, but Jesus is our faithful friend and brother.

God’s word is like a mirror and in it you see who you truly are. No matter how hard you try, you are a sinner, but God’s son died to make you a saint.

You are not your own anchor - Jesus Christ is. So you can grow and live more deeply anchored in Him. You have been set free to grow in 'doing', without the burden of 'earning', because your high priest has gone before you and opened a way for you to enter behind the curtain.
The gospel strips us of any delusions that we can be good enough to deserve anything but judgment, but in Jesus, we have a high priest whose offering on our behalf has already been accepted by God.
The active and slicing word of God lays us bare and exposes the sin that separates us from our Holy God, but we have a faithful high priest who has bridged the gap for us. Our job is to cling to him in our time of need.
For the Christian, Jesus on the cross is the true exodus moment. In Christ, God has brought us safely through the waters of our sin and condemnation and onto redemption's shore.
In and through your own suffering, you can trust the heart of God. For He is the God who stretched out his arms on the hardwood of the cross to die for you and me - all out of pure love.
When you are trying to navigate the barrage of information and misinformation in your life, fix your eyes on Jesus. For He is the radiance of the glory of God, your north star, your anchor, and the full revelation of God's truth.
With His mighty hand and outstretched arm, God has made a way for us through the waters. Christ has brought us through the deep waters of the grave and delivered us into His new resurrection life.
