There’s an old saying that people only do business with someone who they know, like and trust.
And that can be hard to find these days, especially if you don’t have a referral from a friend who’s used that service before.
So what we aim to do here is to get to know some small business owners - not just about what they do, but who they are. About their families. About their interests. About their story.
And if you stick around to the end, you may even find a little incentive, just for SBD’s that might help encourage you to give them a shot next time you’re looking for someone.
A short update on where Small Business Dads currently sits.

Jamie Lingham from Absolute Immigration joins us for a great chat today. Jamie shares how the lessons he learned when he was on the brink of bankruptcy back when the GFC hit in 2008 have led him to where he is today.
My favourite part of the chat though was the importance he places on his own mental health, and how he escapes from the pressures of being a business owner and a dad in our current times. If there's anything I want you to take out of this chat today these insights are it.
And as with all our dads, Jamie has a great insight to help you get the best connection possible with your kids.

Adam Lindsay is our guest today from Koh. Adam shares his stories from his corporate days and how running various small businesses over the years helped lead him to where he is now as provider of a cleaning solution that simplifies home cleaning for the average mum and dad.

Adam also shares a great dad tip on combining running small business and being a dad at the same time.

A bit of a different episode today, and one I want to throw in every so often.
There's so many great stories, tips and ideas that have been shared on this humble podcast already, so I want to recap some of the highlights.
I also realise that it's unlikely you've listened to every episode - meaning you might have missed something special.
So today I go through some of the major take home points that I took out of all the chats I've had with our guests - so if you like something you heard, please go back and listen to that episode in full.
It's a chance to give a further plug to the dads who shared their story early on - meaning you may have missed some awesome stories. Please support the dads featured in these stories and give them some love on social media or drop them a line if you can utilise what they do.
Cause after all, the whole point of this podcast is to give other small business owners, and more importantly dads, just like you and me a chance and a plug to work with over the big faceless corporations out there in the same industries.

If you're concerned about the legacy that you, and your kids in turn, are going to be leaving this planet, then you're going to want to tune in today.
Nik Robinson shares his story from a kid in the UK starting a pirate radio show at 9 just to make some cash, through to today with Good Citizens - a company he started with his kids (aged 8 and 6) to help make the world a better place.
What they do is pretty cool. They take a 600ml plastic bottle and turn it into a pair of sunglasses! The best thing is it is 100% local. Made right here in Sydney, Australia for less than $100.
It's a cool story about kids coming home with an idea and the lessons they learn along the way. With the end goal of making a difference to the world. One plastic bottle at a time.

This is a story I really want you to listen to. Stan Giaouris is a man who had it all from the outside, business was flying, a self confessed workaholic yet he nearly lost it all. Until a family holiday changed everything. Listen to the moment that saved his family, and led to a new direction - both professionally, but more importantly, personally.

Gavin Hepper is a good man with a cool story. Today he tells us about his passion for his Concepts By Gavin Hepper design business, as well as some pretty cool side initiatives that he does to help support small business locally in the Illawarra region. The best part about Gavin's story though, is how he is living proof that you don't need to be someones biological parent to step up and actually be a dad figure in the life of a kid who needs it.
You can find out more about Gavin by visiting http://conceptsbygavinhepper.com.au for kitchens, or for bathrooms please visit https://www.arkibathe.com.au. You can also join in his weekly Friday Happy Hour live chats on his Instagram channel. Definitely worth a follow.

Today I take a break from the usual format and give you a little bit of background about me, so you know who the bloke asking questions is all about and I also go into why I started this podcast and what I hope to achieve with it.
I am definitely more comfortable asking the questions instead of rabbiting on about myself, but in the end, I want this show to be exactly like Jason Sotiris from SuperTee said about his chat on Episode 3 - "it felt like a couple of blokes having a chat over a beer". Laid back but entertaining and informative - hopefully!

This is a great chat with Alex McKenzie who I first met playing rugby 20 odd years ago. Needless to say he's kicked on a bit since those days and now is the owner of Future Financial Services - something that is very appropriate for our times right now. Making sure that your financial goals are all in alignment to look after your future and more importantly, the future of your family.
The best part of this chat though was Alex sharing how he approached losing a massive amount of weight and also running the New York Marathon - a big goal 2.5 years in the making and of course his parenting tip which is a good one. I hope you find it as inspiring as I did.

I love the new "buy local" initiative that Michael is trying to get started in the uniform and clothing industry. Today he shares some insights into Hills Uniforms and why the buy local angle needs to be introduced as a viable option. He also has some great parenting advice as a dad of 4 kids with a wide age difference.
You can find out more about Hills Uniforms or contact Michael directly for a chat about how he can best help you on 0478 081 459.

This is a very interesting chat with Pete Seligman from Alpin, a company that helps small businesses find their way for want of a better word. Whether it is through a succession plan or by getting their experts in to do their thing. He has a very unique approach that I think will be a perfect hit for our current times.
Even if this isn't exactly what you think you need to find out about right now, I'm sure you'll appreciate the insights shared as much as I did. Pete also shares a big parenting take home nugget that is worth sticking around towards the end for. This went places I didn't expect and I really enjoyed Pete sharing his knowledge.
You can find out more about Alpin and you can also connect with Pete on LinkedIn.

Today's guest is Trevor Robson from Norwest Chiropractic. In this cool chat Trevor breaks some of the old myths that some people have about chiropractors and shares his approach on a combined approach to treating chronic problems. Well worth the listen and your time.
If you like the show, please rate, review and share with your friends. If you know a dad who'd make a great guest, or you'd like to be interviewed yourself to share the story of your family and your business, please email daniel@dpmtransformation.com.
The story that our guest today, Jason Sotiris shared absolutely blew my mind. I really encourage you to check this out, not just as a dad yourself, but for the story and to find out how passionate Jason is about the SuperTee concept and the heartbreaking way that it came about.
The world needs more positive stories right now, and although this had a sad beginning, it's amazing to see what's become of it.
You can find out more about SuperTee and grab yourself a sponsor pack or two by visiting https://www.supertee.com.au. Please help out and spread the word if you can.

Cool little show today, this time with Matthew Gillard from Sammat Education. Matthew gives us an insight into what they do, how it can benefit teachers and kids especially at this time right now. You'll also discover how you can get some kids education school holiday programs for FREE once you utilise your Creative Kids Voucher. Well worth the listen. You can find out more about what they do here https://www.sammat.education. If you're a Dad who runs a small business and would like to share your story in future episodes, please email daniel@dpmtransformation.com with podcast guest in the subject line and tell me why you'd be a good fit for the show. Let's help each other out and spread the word about other Aussie small businesses - especially at this time of Covid-19.
And if you stick around to the end, you’ll even find a little incentive, just for SBD’s that might help encourage you to give them a shot next time you’re looking for someone.
With the way 2020 has kicked off, now more than ever we need to band together and support each other - for the future of our respective businesses, but more importantly our own mental health and for the benefit of our families.
This show will interview fellow Aussie dads who manage to juggle running their business while actively being involved in their kids life. And what better way to build our own contact circles then by finding out more about each business owner on a personal level.
To be considered for an episode please email daniel@dpmtransformation.com with a brief blurb about you, your business and your family and why you'd be an asset to the SBD community.
