Today on a very special episode of What's My Frame I'm joined by Kat Likkel and John Hoberg. Kat & John have been professional screenwriters for over 25 years. With credits ranging from MY NAME IS EARL to ELEMENTAL, DOWNWARD DOG to the medieval musical comedy GALAVANT. John and Kat's creativity and partnership is truly inspiring.
Today we chat about creative process and some of their upcoming projects including a fairytale musical series at Disney+ with Dan Fogelman producing and Kat's powerful first novel. John takes us into the writer's room on PARADISE; we laugh about the voices and influences that shape us as creatives and so much more. Now let's get to the conversation!
Full Bio:
Married writing team Kat Likkel and John Hoberg have been professional screenwriters for over 25 years. They’ve written half hours, features, dramas, and are currently in development on a stage musical with the Michael Cassel group. In addition to that, Kat and John recently set up a fairytale musical series at Disney+ with Dan Fogelman producing and music & lyrics by Alen Menken and Glenn Slater. Additionally, over the past few years, John has been serving as EP/Co-Showrunner on Hulu’s Emmy nominated hit drama series “Paradise,” and Kat has recently finished her first novel which is out to publishers. Before that they spent nearly 3 years working at Pixar writing the Academy Award nominated movie “Elemental,” and have a long list of television credits including shows like “My Name is Earl,” “black-ish” and the medieval musical comedy “Galavant” as well as cult hits like “Better off Ted” and “Downward Dog” -- the first network half hour to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. They split time between Pasadena, and Solvang, CA where they have 6 goats... let’s just say their pandemic got weird.

Today on What's My Frame I'm joined by Casting Director & Spanish Dialect Consultant, Miranda Martinez. Miranda began her career in Dallas, Texas, working in commercial casting before collaborating with renowned casting director Jo Edna Boldin,CSA on major studio films including The Lone Ranger and The Last Stand. After relocating to Los Angeles in 2012, Miranda expanded her credits as the Los Angeles Casting Director for the independent feature Icaros: A Vision, where she spent three weeks in the Amazon jungle of Iquitos, Peru, working closely with the local cast of native Shipibo-Conibo people to help shape authentic performances.
She has contributed to high-profile projects with acclaimed casting director April Webster, CSA including Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Lisey’s Story, Clarice, Locke & Key, and Sacred Lies. On Jack Ryan, she also served as a Spanish dialect consultant, advising on accent accuracy and subtitle translation during post-production. Fluent in Spanish and raised in Panama, Miranda brings deep linguistic expertise to her work, specializing in Spanish dialect consulting for multilingual productions.
Her background as an actor, having appeared in national commercials and independent films, gives her a performer’s perspective that informs her casting approach. Miranda occasionally teaches actor workshops, most recently at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, where participants had the option to perform in either English or Spanish. She is also committed to supporting emerging filmmakers, regularly serving as Casting Director for short films at Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts.

Today on What's My Frame I'm joined by Director, Hanelle M. Culpepper. One of Indiewire’s television Directors To Know, the energetic and unflappable Hanelle Culpepper's credits range from superhero action adventures to thrillers to genre films to character-driven dramas.
As director of the Star Trek: Picard pilot, Hanelle became the first woman to launch a Star Trek series in its 53-year history. In 2021, she won an NAACP Image Award for her work on Picard. In 2022, she was nominated for Netflix’s True Story starring Kevin Hart and Wesley Snipes, and again in 2023 for The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey starring Samuel Jackson.
Her recent work includes the Disney+ series Star Wars: The Acolyte, Neil Gaiman’s Amazon series Anansi Boys, Dan Fogelman's Hulu series Paradise, starring Sterling K Brown, along with NCIS: Origins and Matlock.
Hanelle earned her B.A. from Lake Forest College and her M.A. from USC’s Annenberg School. After working as the assistant for Oscar-winning writer/director Callie Khouri, she completed AFI’s Directing Workshop for Women, launching her as a director to watch. Her short A Single Rose won numerous awards and screened at film festivals worldwide, including the 2004 ICG Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival.
A Single Rose plus Hanelle’s viral short film spoof Six and the City led to her first feature: the supernatural thriller Within, starring Mia Ford, Sammi Hanratty, Sam Jaeger, Lori Heuring, Brent Sexton, and featuring Aisha Hinds. The film won Outstanding Feature Film at the Big Bear Horror Film Festival and had its television premiere on Lifetime. Hanelle went on to helm multiple thrillers, including Murder on the 13th Floor starring Tessa Thompson.
Hanelle’s television career took off after NBC Universal’s Directing Initiative led to an episode of Parenthood. Her work has since spanned nearly 40 series across a range of genres. In 2019, she was selected for the inaugural class of ReFrame and earned Variety’s Inclusion Impact Honor.
Hanelle proudly serves on the TV Academy’s Director Peer Group Executive Committee, and as an alternate for the DGA’s National Board and Western Directors Council. When not on set, Hanelle shepherds up-and-coming directors as the Guest Artistic Director for AFI’s DWW+ Class of 2024-2025.

Today on What's My Frame I'm joined by Writer & Executive Producer Richard Keith. Richard was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, and grew up in the small mountain town of Beech Mountain, where he was a competitive alpine ski racer through high school before moving to New York to pursue a career in entertainment. He began as an actor, appearing in dozens of commercials and recurring on series such as NCIS and Grey’s Anatomy.
Richard later transitioned to writing and producing. His first feature, Fall, developed with Rob Reiner, never made it to the screen. He’s now developing it into a novel with his longtime writing partner, Erin Cardillo. The pair began collaborating in the mid-2010s, and their first pilot won the New York Television Festival’s comedy pilot competition, landing them a development deal at FOX. Shortly after, they partnered with Alloy Entertainment to create Significant Mother for CW Seed, which was picked up to series by The CW and premiered on August 3, 2015.
Since then, Cardillo & Keith have sold more than ten broadcast pilots to NBC, ABC, FOX, HBO Max, and The CW—including three in a single pilot season, prompting Deadline in 2019 to call them “the most prolific writers in broadcast television.” Their first hourlong pilot, Life Sentence, developed with Doozer Productions and Warner Bros. Television, went to series and premiered on The CW in 2018 (now streaming on Tubi). In 2019, the duo signed a two-year overall deal at Warner Bros., focusing on adaptations and IP for the studio, under their banner, In Good Company.
Beyond development, Cardillo & Keith served as Co-EPs on Fuller House and are currently Executive Producers on Netflix’s longest-running drama series, Virgin River, now entering its eighth season.
In features, the duo adapted Katherine Center’s bestselling novel The Bodyguard into a film that is set to star Jared Padalecki and they have two other features in development they're not allowed to talk about.
When not in the writers’ room, Keith lives in Mammoth Lakes, California, with his wife, two kids, two dogs, and a reasonable amount of cats. And he still ski races with the adult masters team—because growing up is overrated.

Jenny's authenticity, honesty and heart are evident throughout this episode. Jenny has a gift for meeting people where they are and empowering them. Jenny has lived with spondyloarthritis since her teens and is an advocate for artists with chronic pain. Jenny was named a 2024 Women in Motion honoree and the 2021 Volunteer of the Year by the Arthritis Foundation of New York.

Today on What's My Frame I'm joined by Casting Professional and Actor, Andrew Dahreddine. Andrew is based between Los Angeles and New York. He is currently casting Lauren Minnerath's debut feature film, CLARE (which has been supported by Sundance, Tribeca, and SXSW); Stacey Maltin and Jay DeYonker’s feature film, C-SIDE (working title); and Rebecca Louisell’s film, THE TRIP, which is one segment of the upcoming anthology feature film, THROUGH THE BLINDS.
Andrew previously worked with Barden/Schnee Casting on television shows for Apple TV+ (the breakout series, PALM ROYALE), Paramount+ (SCHOOL SPIRITS), and ABC (ALASKA DAILY), as well as many films including the upcoming feature, CODE 3 (Rainn Wilson, Lil Rel Howery, and Aimee Carrero); and EZRA (Robert De Niro, Bobby Cannavale, Rose Byrne).
Additional selected casting credits include: the FX limited series, THE PATIENT (starring Steve Carell & Domhnall Gleeson); Aaron Sorkin’s Oscar-nominated Netflix feature film, THE TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 7; and the first season of the Emmy-nominated Hulu series, RAMY.
Andrew has also been the casting director for many short films that have competed at festivals including SXSW, BFI, SIFF, Palm Springs ShortFest, HollyShorts, Vienna Shorts, and many others.
As an actor, Andrew was a series regular on the comedy series, 86’d, for BRIC TV. He also has appeared in many national commercials, and was the lead role in the second season premiere of Homicide City on Investigation Discovery.
A BFA graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, Andrew has performed in many stage productions, as well. Selected credits include: Kenneth Branagh and Rob Ashford's epic Macbeth at the Park Avenue Armory; the Lincoln Center Festival's Russian-language adaptation of Miss Julie (dir. Thomas Ostermeier) at NY City Center. He also appeared in several productions with The Drilling Company, and received praise in the New York Times for his performance in their version of As You Like It. Regionally, he spent a season with the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, as well as one summer at Boston's Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, in their production of Coriolanus.

He served as Head of Casting for the legendary horror brand FANGORIA, as they launched their first studio. Today on What's My Frame I'm joined by Casting Director, Betsy Ware Fippinger. Betsy has trained under some of the best Casting Directors in New York, including Meredith Tucker and Ellen Lewis. As a Casting Associate and Assistant she worked on projects directed by Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Bo Burnham, Greg Mottola, and Lynn Shelton.
Betsy won an Artios Award for her work as the Casting Associate on the pilot episode of ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’. As a Casting Director, Betsy cast Sarah Friedland’s ‘Familiar Touch’ (in theaters now, and winner of three awards at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, including Best Debut Film) and co-cast Nicholas Colia’s ‘Griffin in Summer’ (winner of three awards at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival, including Best Narrative Feature).
She also cast the lead youth roles for Kelly Fremon Craig’s ‘Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret,’ for which she won her second Artios Award. Before entering casting, Betsy worked at HBO and The William Morris Agency, and taught at Indiana University. She graduated with a BA in Film from Wesleyan University in 2003.

Today on What's My Frame I'm joined by Writer/Director, Ryan Landels. This is a beautiful episode spotlighting the importance of community and finding your fellow collaborators.
Ryan is a Canadian-born American writer/director who recently sold his genre-bending thriller CUL-DE-SAC to Sony, with his frequent collaborator Jon M. Chu (WICKED) producing.
He is currently developing a project in the vein of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN for Hobie Films, which got both Matt Shakman (THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS) and Joachim Rønning (TRON: ARES) attached in the pitch stage. Ryan is also writing a four-quadrant fantasy adventure for Electric Somewhere, and wrote the screenplay for JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS – Universal's live-action adaptation of Hasbro’s toyline and animated series that was theatrically released worldwide.
In TV, Ryan wrote the multiple Primetime Emmy-winning BEAUTY AND THE BEAST: A 30TH CELEBRATION for Disney+ and ABC, with the hybrid live-action and animation tribute starring Martin Short, Josh Groban, Rita Moreno, David Alan Grier and H.E.R. He recently wrote and directed the hit original movies SANTA TELL ME and SUGARPLUMMED for Hallmark, with SANTA TELL ME becoming the No. 1 new Christmas movie of 2024 across all broadcast networks and streaming platforms. Ryan also adapted TOM CLANCY’S GHOST RECON: WILDLANDS for Amazon and Ubisoft, created and directed ABBY NORMAL for Disney Channel, and wrote and directed on three seasons of Hulu and Paramount’s hit streaming series, THE LXD.
Ryan is a graduate of the USC School of Cinema-Television, which he attended with the support of a scholarship from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. His thesis film THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS went to more than thirty festivals internationally, won the Audience Award at Slamdance and was featured in the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
Ryan is based out of Los Angeles and a member of the Writers Guild of America, the Producers Guild of America, the Directors Guild of Canada and the Television Academy. He is represented by Rob Carlson at the United Talent Agency and Mike Fera at Kaplan/Perrone.

Bille Woodruff. Bille is an illustrious film, television and music video director/producer who has helmed many memorable videos for artists such as Lil’ Wayne, Britney Spears, Celine Dion, OutKast, Missy Elliott, TLC, Toni Braxton, Trisha Yearwood and Usher among many others.
His feature film debut was Universal Pictures' HONEYstarring Jessica Alba and Mekhi Phifer. He then directed MGM’s BEAUTY SHOP starring Queen Latifah, Djimon Hounsou, and Kevin Bacon. Some of his other credits include ADDICTED based on the novel by Zane, THE PERFECT MATCH starring Paula Patton, and the entire HONEY film franchise for Universal Home Entertainment.
On the television side, Bille recently wrapped a block of episodes on the limited series DEVIL IN DISGUISE: JOHN WAYNE GACY for Peacock and Patrick McManus. He also recently shot ELSBETH for CBS, GREY’S ANATOMY for ABC, and his second episode of YELLOWJACKETS for Showtime. Other credits include BRIDGERTON for Netflix, TRUTH BE TOLD for Apple TV+, WILL TRENT for ABC, as well as the VAMPIRE ACADEMY pilot for Peacock in Spain, and the PAINKILLER pilot for Warner Bros and CW.
Additionally, he directed GENIUS: ARETHA for NatGeo starring Cynthia Erivo, and FEAR THE WALKING DEAD for AMC. He served as PD on BLACK LIGHTNING for Salim Akil and CW. He also directed the 1/2 hour musical comedy series, PERFECT HARMONY for NBC Universal. Prior to that, he was in an overall deal at 20th where he was an EP on STAR for Lee Daniels and FBC. He also directed multiple episodes of EMPIRE including the series finale.

Today on What's My Frame I'm joined by Director & Filmmaker, Deborah Kampmeier. This episode is so incredibly special; Deborah shares her beautiful creative journey of becoming a filmmaker. Deborah originally studied acting at The National Shakespeare Conservatory. After graduation she set, as she calls it, “an impossible goal” that took her far from home only to return a changed artist with filmmaking capturing her heart.
Today we chat about her exquisite work on HBO’s critically-acclaimed period drama THE GILDED AGE and how she builds trust and holds valuable space for her actors on set. This conversation paired with Deborah's creative bravery is sure to inspire, and have you setting your own outrageous goals.
Deborah's first feature, VIRGIN starring Elisabeth Moss and Robin Wright, was nominated for two 2004 Independent Spirit Awards, including Best Actress for Elisabeth Moss and the John Cassavetes Award. Her second feature, “Hounddog,” starring Dakota Fanning and Robin Wright was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. Deborah's third feature, “Split,” won Best of Show at the 2016 Female Eye Film Festival.
Deborah made her television directorial debut on Ava DuVernay & Oprah Winfrey’s heralded drama QUEEN SUGAR in 2019 and followed immediately with two episodes of the first season of DuVernay's CHERISH THE DAY. Since then, she has directed episodes of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY, FBI: INTERNATIONAL, OUTER RANGE & TALES OF THE WALKING DEAD.
Deborah is developing her next features PILGRIM'S WILDERNESS, THE CASSANDRA & DIRT RHAPSODY, as well as her series A WITHC IN HARLEM, and limited series RADIOACTIVE MOTHERS. As a creator, she is especially interested in giving a voice to women’s untold stories.

Full bio:
A graduate of USC with a degree in communications (emphasis on television, critical studies,) G. has been on both sides of the camera, as an actor, a casting director, a content creator, a producer and a director. In addition, G’s been teaching actors how to audition in his private studio classes since 2002.
He began his professional casting career in 1996 as an intern on 3RD ROCK FROM THE SUN for Liberman/Patton at Carsey/Werner studios. Shortly after, G moved up the ranks from assistant to associate and finally casting director on THAT ‘70s SHOW seven+ of the series’ eight seasons.
G is the original casting director of the PBS and Jim Henson Co. animated series SID THE SCIENCE KID, the FX channel’s ANGER MANAGEMENT starring Charlie Sheen, the ABC comedy series, THE MIDDLE starring Patricia Heaton, the IFC horror/comedy series from Dana Gould, STAN AGAINST EVIL, the family comedy DIARY OF A FUTURE PRESIDENT on Disney+ and LOPEZ VS LOPEZ for Universal Television and NBC, Peacock, and Netfix.
As a performer and creative, G. is a graduate of both Second City and Acme Improvisation companies and has an extensive list of stage credits in sketch, improv, and legit theatre, as well as many onscreen and VO credits. He also fronted two bands over a 25-year period and has spent what feels like a lifetime trying to play the banjo.

Catriona heralded 2012 independent action-adventure drama film Satellite Boy tells the story of a young Aboriginal boy struggling to maintain the traditions of his heritage in the modern world after a mining company expands into the region. The film won multiple awards as various prestigious festivals including the Berlinale, and was nominated for the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Award (AACTA) for Best Film. She received a second AACTA nomination for her work on the Australian television series Kiki and Kitty.
Raised in Sydney and currently based in Los Angeles, she is a member of both the Directors Guild of America and the Australian Directors Guild and a recipient of the ADG/DGA Finders Series Awards. Dedicated to developing emerging filmmakers, McKenzie has mentored in various film education initiatives including the Sundance Native Lab. As an adoptee and member of the Australian Aboriginal Gunai-Kurnai tribe, she credits her upbringing and wide-ranging life experience with developing a keen eye for people and their stories.

Michael shares the story behind his first short, BITCH which was shot for $66, premiered at Outfest, was a hit on the festival circuit before being named best short film of 2009 by Frontiers LA magazine. Michael shares his journey shadowing and the road to episodic directing. How he establishes trust and a partnership with his actors on set and so much more. While working on his own projects Michael shadowed 13 different directors on TV shows: most notably Mark Mylod and Debbie Allen. Michael got his first directing job on television on "The Fosters" directing three episodes in the last two seasons including the first part of the three-part Series Finale. In the meantime, his mockumentary short "Walk It Out" premiered at the Palm Springs Int'l ShortFest and his short "Divorce: The Greatest Hits" premiered at the LA Int'l Shorts Festival. He was a recurring director on "The Fosters" spin-off "Good Trouble" for Freeform while also supervising new directors on the show. He directed multiple episodes of Netflix' "Atypical" including the Series Finale. And he's directed multiple episodes of Shonda Rhimes' "Grey's Anatomy" and its spin off "Station 19" for ABC and Ryan Murphy's "Dr Odyssey" "9-1-1" and "9-1-1:Lone Star." Michael is set to direct his feature debut - the Walden Media film adaptation of Robbie Couch's novel "The Sky Blues" and is developing a film with Dakota Johnson and Ro Donnelly's TeaTime Pictures.
Michael received a BFA in Theatre from Boston University and brings to directing his years of experience working as an actor in film, TV and theater in NYC and LA. He was also the creator and executive producer of Hot in Hollywood, a celebrity-driven benefit that raised more than half a million dollars in three years for domestic and international AIDS organizations. He lives in Los Feliz with his husband, Brian, their daughter and son, Everly Rose and Bowie, and three silly mutts, Lady, Charlie and Patch.

Jesse's heart for championing inclusion and diversity in the casting process is evident in all facet's of his work. Hosting monthly workshops for the BIPOC Community; creating a safe space for artists to be heard, supported and given the freedom to crate at their highest level and most authentic self. Today Jesse shares the thought he put into crafting his office, from his own experience as an actor. This year she celebrates her 40th Anniversary as a Director. Today we chat about Bethany's creative process, advice for actor's from the directors perspective along with her and Mary Lou Belli's bestselling textbook, Director's Tell The Story.
Bethany is a storyteller through and through. Known for her vivd imagination and strong leadership skills. Bethany ensures that every script is fully realized artistically and works to further elevate projects in performance. Bethany Rooney began her directing career on the 1980's iconic television show, St. Elsewhere, where she served as Associate Producer.
Bethany also served as Producing Director on two series: Bull and The Originals. She has directed Oscar winners and Emmy contenders Denzel Washington, Hilary Swank, Mariska Hargitay, Angela Bassett, George Clooney, Alfre Woodard, Felicity Huffman, Sally Field, and Robert Downey, Jr., among many others. Her textbook on episodic directing (co-written with Mary Lou Belli,) "Directors Tell the Story," is seen as an authority on the subject and is in use in many university film programs, as well as most of the studio/network diversity education programs.
She has served the Directors Guild of America in numerous ways: as a member of the National Board, co-chair of the Women's Steering Committee and member of the Western Directors Council. She co-created two of the industry's leading diversity director training programs: Warner Bros. (2012) and the DGA's Directors Development Initiative (DDI, 2015.) Teaching rising directors is one of the ways Bethany continues to learn about and love storytelling.

Today on What's My Frame I'm joined by the incredible, Marci Liroff. Marci has been involved with filmmakers as a casting director, producer, and acting coach for the last 40+ years. Her extensive credits as a casting director span more than 60 films and several television series.
In 2019, Marci completed an extensive training course with the premier Intimacy Coordinator, Amanda Blumenthal of Intimacy Professionals Association (IPA) and is a Certified Intimacy Coordinator. Current credits range from indie films to tv series. She was the IC the Colin Farrell Apple + series Sugar and on the second and third seasons of the STARZ series, Hightown. She spent nine months on location working on the series.
Her casting experience is vast. While working at the renowned casting office of Fenton-Feinberg Casting she, along with Mike Fenton, cast such films as Bob Clark's A Christmas Story and Porky's; the Academy Award-nominated Poltergeist; Steven Spielberg's E.T.- The Extra Terrestrial and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Ridley Scott's Blade Runner.
After establishing her own casting company in 1983, MARCI LIROFF CASTING, Marci cast several successful films including Footloose, St. Elmo's Fire, Pretty in Pink, The Iron Giant, The Spitfire Grill, Untamed Heart, Freaky Friday, Mean Girls, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Mr. Popper's Penguins, Vampire Academy, Magic Camp and The Sublime and Beautiful, which she produced as well.
As an ally to the LGBTQIA + community, Marci has supported the national group GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network) which works to ensure that LGBTQIA + students are able to learn and grow in a school environment free from bullying and harassment. Liroff has coached their student ambassadors along with the president of the organization, Eliza Byard, for their yearly GLSEN event.

Today Nadine takes us on the creative journey of making, CONTINUE. Based on Crocker's life and the true story of surviving a suicide attempt when she was 23. Nadine wrote, directed, and produced alongside her producing partner, Jay Seals, and Husband, Anthony Caravella-Crocker.
The film's message is focused on suicide prevention with the hope of saving lives from suicide. Part of the film's proceeds go to charity, including the Continue On Organization for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention.

Today on What's My Frame I'm joined by Director, Brenna Malloy. Brenna has directed episodes of 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Lone Star, FBI, Law & Order: Organized Crime, Chicago Fire, FBI: International, and Chicago PD. Brenna served as Supervising Producer, as well as directed half of the first season of On Call for Wolf Entertainment and Amazon.
Her MFA thesis film Rocket, a story about a female racecar driver, throws the audience into the world of 1950s dirt track racing. The half hour short earned a Student Academy Award in 2016 and screened in more than 40 festivals in eight countries. Before breaking in to television Brenna was a participant of Ryan Murphy's Half Initiative in 2018, and a fellow of the 2019-20 NBC Female Forward program.
I had the joy of working with Brenna on my first episode of ON CALL and I became an instant fan of her work, her work ethic and the collaborative environment she creates for everyone on set. I'm so excited to have Brenna join us on the show, now let's get to the conversation!

Dr. Gottfried is a Neurosurgeon and Professor at Duke University. Dr. Gottfried openness to help others in understanding his world of medicine paired with a cold-call from a producer in 2010 opened a whole new chapter in his work.

I've been blessed to work on a number of medical shows and bring my background as a first responder to the role. Carroll's bio reflects her sense of humor and unique understanding of the business by stating "she hears voices". His second feature, Somewhere Slow won Best Narrative Feature at the Brooklyn Film Festival, was released theatrically by Screen Media. Currently he is producing and casting the feature films including Eyes in the Trees (Anthony Hopkins, Jonathan Rhys Meyers), The Wolf and the Lamb (Angus Macfadyen).
Jeremy spent over nine years in TV comedy with Greenstein / Daniel Casting and Sherie Hernandez Casting in Los Angeles, earning him both Artios and Heller nominations. He's worked with every major network and streaming platform. Hightlights include Mindy Kaling's ground-breaking Netflix series, Never Have I Ever, the Carol Burnett / Amy Poehler pilot Household Name for ABC, the first 2 seasons of TVLand's Teachers and the final 2 seasons of Key and Peele (both with Sherie Hernandez).
In addition to casting, as an educator, Jeremy has been on the faculty at AMDA and a guest for Wallace State, Webster University and American Academy of Dramatic Art. He teaches mindfulness-based audition technique across the country.
He is committed discovering and fostering original, authentic talent and maximizing the positive impact TV, film and theatre can have on its audiences, and the world.

Cassandra is a true gem and I know you're going to love this episode and learn so much. We dive into the Italian vs German market, UK & US markets and take on the often misunderstood Global Rule One. If you've ever been curious about working in another market grab your notebook because Cassandra is sharing her prolific insight and experiences navigating and casting in numerous markets!
Cassandra began casting in the early '90s in New York. She was a founding member of Ethan Hawke's NY theater company Malaparte. She holds an MFA in acting from Trinity Repertory Company and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania.
After moving to Europe in '03, Cassandra now specializes in crossing over between the European and UK/US markets, casting in German, Italian and English. Cassandra is President of the CSA European Board of Governors and a Board Member of the International Casting Directors Association (ICDA). A founding member of the Italian branch of Women in Film, Television and Media, she is also a member of the European Film Academy and the Deutsche Filmakademie.
Recent credits includes two Paramount+ series: a German Original entitled ONE TRILLION DOLLARS (Wiedemann & Berg TV) and American roles for the Italian Original MISS FALLACI (Casting by Maurilio Mangano). UK Casting includes the upcoming Italian Netflix series STORIA DELLA MIA FAMIGLIA (Casting by Davide Zurolo). She also just closed the cast of a Somali-language feature, SAMIA, based on the true story of a female Olympic athlete from Mogadishu.
Casting Italy credits include James Mangold’s Oscar-winning FORD VS FERRARI (Casting by Ronna Kress), Terrence Malick’s A HIDDEN LIFE (Casting by Anja Dihrberg) and two seasons of Gaumont Germany’s Netflix series BARBARIANS (Casting by Iris Baumüller). I had the joy of learning from Jessica earlier this year at SAG-AFTRA in one of her workshops geared towards empowering and supporting actors both in and out of their acting work. Today on What's My Frame I'm joined by Casting Director and Casting Fairy, Stacey Pianko.
Stacey began her career in the Feature Film department at Disney/Touchstone Pictures, working on projects like Cool Runnings, Significant Other, The Three Musketeers, A Far Off Place and The Mighty Ducks.
During her stint as Director of Casting at Disney Channel, stars such as Shia LaBeouf, Hilary Duff, Lindsay Lohan and Kaley Cuoco found their launching pad early in their careers.
Stacey entered the independent casting world with her partner Orly Sitowitz, CSA and has cast many Independent Feature Films, including VIOLET which premiered at TIFF.
Stacey has worked with prominent directors/producers like Troy Miller, Adam Shankman, Jada Pinkett Smith, Marshall Herskovitz, Ed Zwick, Ed Harris, Matthew Carnahan and Howard Gordon.
One very notable collaboration was working with James Cameron on AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER. Where Stacey coordinated a Worldwide Young Actor Search for the film.

Michael is the recipient of nine Artios Awards. Beyond his prolific career in theatre; he's cast over a thousand commercials. He teaches at Pepperdine and USC, is President of the Foundation for New American Musicals, and serves on the Board of Directors for Camp Bravo.
He somehow still finds time to give back teaching at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation and to join us for this very special episode.

Today on What's My Frame I'm joined by Casting Director, Jenn Presser. For anyone that's met Jenn or listened to her podcast Tipsy Casting you know Jenn is a beautiful balance of strength and heart!
I met Jenn several years ago and still remember to this day her kindness and the way she made an effort to get to know me as an actor in the room, my interests, where I studied... it was one of those rare times where you really feel yourself coming into focus. It wasn't a question of if but when could we have Jenn on the show because she is a busy woman!!
As you'll hear today Jenn is truly an inspiration. An excellent example of going where you're celebrated and taking on the challenges that scare you! After working with some of the top casting directors in the US; Jenn founded her own company, Break Away Casting.
In 2023 she continued to blaze her own trail by relocating to the UK; and expanding her office. I'm sure it's becoming evident that Jenn isn't afraid of hard work, or finding her own way in this business. Break Away Casting is now one of the first offices of it's kind offering productions an expert on both US & UK talent.

His articulate redirects, instinctual understanding of an actor's process and natural warmth made for a really special class. Brian shares the twists and turns that lead him into a career in casting; he's now part of one of the busiest offices in LA. Lindsay's resume is extensive spanning mediums, genres and decades. He not only is a Tony nominee, a respected professor but an extremely passionate advocate for the arts and safe working conditions.
Lindsay's Broadway credits include Slave Play, The Nap, Bronx Bombers and A Time To Kill; and a nomination for a Tony for Best Score and Best Sound Design of a Play. His off-Broadway work has been heard at Playwrights Horizons, The Public Theater, MCC, Primary Stages, and many others. International credits include works at Royal Shakespeare Festival (UK), Stratford Festival (Canada), and many others. Lindsay has created music and sound for over 500 productions in regional theatres across the US. Awards include seven Joseph Jefferson Awards and twenty-four nominations, 2 ASCAP Plus Awards, two Ovation Awards and three nominations, a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award, a San Diego Theatre Critics Circle Award and two nominations, as well as multiple nominations for Drama Desk Awards, Helen Hayes Awards, Barrymore Awards, and many others.
In film/television, he has created original score for over 35 projects, including HBO Films' A Note Of Triumph: The Golden Age of Norman Corwin, which won the 2006 Academy Award for Best Documentary, Short Subject. His work encompasses features like The View From Tall, Ash, and The Brass Teapot; TV shows such as Sony Pictures' series Family Practice for Lifetime Television, shorts such as The Follower, House Of Stairs, and Grace; and full-length documentaries such as Hearing Voices and Cleveland.
In podcasts, Lindsay is the in-house composer/sound designer for the weekly podcast The Imagine Neighborhood, produced by the Committee For Children, and for the ongoing Play On series for Next Chapter Podcasts. In Laura's nearly 20 years at Tara Rubin Casting she's worked alongside the theatre-makers whose names are atop the marquees that matter. She's participated in thousands of auditions and knows what makes an audition great and what makes an actor memorable.
With an evident and deep love for the arts & supporting young artists Laura shares numerous great stories... But as a kid who grew up in the magical world of theatre this quote really hit home. "When you audition for a play, you are not just auditioning for that one project: you are auditioning for every project the entire team ever does."
She also shares her process for working with actors one on one. Helping demystify the process, shifting the approach to auditioning as an opportunity to do your best work in the allotted time and establish yourself as an actor and creator.

He began his career in entertainment studying as an actor in New York City. Today on What's My Frame I'm joined by Meg Swertlow. Meg a Los Angeles-born and raised screenwriter/director; today she shares her passion for creating female-driven stories. In the past three years, Meg has directed eight short films, seven of which she wrote. Her horror short, The Voiceless, is part of the feature-length anthology, Give Me an A, a response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade. We also dive into the rewarding and very real challenges of indie filmmaking with Meg's recent proof of concept for No Overnight Parking, which stars and was produced by Alyssa Milano and French Stewart.
In November 2022, she participated in the Ryan Murphy Half Initiative Director program, shadowing an episode of Lone Star: 911. Meg just wrapped post-production on the proof of concept for No Overnight Parking, which stars and was produced by Alyssa Milano and French Stewart. In March 2023, No Overnight Parking was selected for the K Period Media/Blumhouse Inaugural Screamwriting Fellowship. Meg’s short films have played in over 40 international genre film festivals, including Fantastic Fest, Scream Fest, Fright Fest UK, FilmQuest, Final Girls Berlin and Overlook Film Festival.
Meg studied advanced screenwriting at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts and her work has won over 30 screenwriting accolades, including Emerging Screenwriters’ Shoot Your Short Grand Prize and ISA’s Top 25 Screenwriters to Watch. Her YA pilot, Witch, Please!, won Best Short Script at FilmQuest ‘22 and was ranked the “#1 hour-long family pilot of all time” on Coverfly. She’s a Hedgebrook Screenwriting Fellow, Middlebury Screenwriting Fellow and Women in Film Mentee.
Before transitioning to film, Meg had a 10-year career as an entertainment journalist, writing for Entertainment Tonight and E! News. She studied improv at Groundlings, UCB and iO West and performed hundreds of improv shows around Los Angeles. She also trained in acting through the Sharon Chatten Studio, the Ivana Chubbock Studio and the London Dramatic Academy through the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. The California girl is a proud graduate of Hamilton College in Upstate New York.

Maribeth has been a part of the Laura Rosenthal Casting office for over fifteen years; working alongside major talents like Todd Haynes, Paolo Sorrentino, Oren Moverman, Joachim Trier, Ed Burns, Mindy Kaling, Anton Corbijn, and Lisa Cholodenko as well as up and coming feature directors, Guy Nattiv, Olivia Newman, & Paul Downs Colaizzo.
Some of Maribeth's favorite credits include Olive Kitteridge and Mildred Pierce both for HBO, Jay-Z’s music video for Smile, Wonderstruck with Todd Haynes, A Quiet Place, Modern Love for Amazon and Liz Garbus’ narrative feature debut, Lost Girls. Two of her three films at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival broke sales records, Late Night and Brittany Runs A Marathon. Most recent credits include Sharper for Apple TV, directed by Benjamin Caron, Bottoms, produced by Elizabeth Banks, Murder Mystery 2 with Happy Madison, and the upcoming A Different Man from Killer Films and A24.

A classically trained violinist from the age of three, we have a good laugh about suzuki lessons. Today on What's My Frame? I'm joined by Poker Face hair department head, Marcel Dagenais. I had the absolute joy of meeting Marcel last year on the set of Rain Johnson's new series Poker Face.
In the week leading up to joining the show I was blown away by Marcel and his team's attention to detail and pre planing. It dawned on me so many actors don't know what to expect after the offer email. We spend so much time focusing on getting the job we don't discuss the flood of emails / txts and planing that happens between booking and landing on set. Today Marcel and I discuss just that, how to share helping info with the hair & MUA department heads before arriving in their trailer along with so many more helpful tips.
Of course we also dive into Marcel's work in commercials and editorial along with a few favorites stories from set including a wild one from Russian Doll.

Seeking to enrich her European approach with the American perspective, she moved to Los Angeles in 2011 where she studied cinematography at the prestigious American Film Institute. Variety named her as one of the Up Next generation of filmmakers in 2018. Johanna has worked as a cinematographer on a number of diverse projects, including award-winning narrative films, music videos, and TV. Her early determination and drive for cinematography has led her to be one of the youngest cinematographer to ever shoot network television.
Johanna loves to say she is a visual psychologist: her role is to understand and interpret the emotions of the characters, to create for them the best visual atmosphere to act in.

Today on What's My Frame? I'm joined by director and writer Laura Scrivano. I had the joy of meeting and working with Laura earlier this year on the set of WEDDING SEASON. Laura began her career in theatre; that ease of communicating with actors along with her composure and attention to detail while filming in an electric and at moments wild active casino was nothing short of impressive! Laura is an Italian-Australian filmmaker now based in London. She shares details of her journey to become a working director. She speaks honestly about the challenges and limitations female creatives often face and what can be done to create an equal playing field going forward. Outside her work on WEDDING SEASON, Laura also directed two episodes of sci-fi drama THE LAZARUS PROJECT, and is also working on her debut feature as writer/director.
She began her career in theatre, directing productions at Belvoir St, Australian Theatre for Young People and Opera Australia; and creating digital content for Sydney Theatre Company under the artistic directorship of Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton.
Laura’s work has been described as ‘beautifully honest’ (The Guardian), ‘mind blowing’ (The Times), ‘groundbreaking’ (Sydney Morning Herald), and ‘inspirational’ (PromoNews). She was named as "Ones to Watch" for the Edinburgh TV Festival 2020-2021.

Today on What's My Frame? I'm joined by casting director LISA ZAMBETTI. Lisa began her creative journey as an actor working on & off Broadway for a number of years. Lisa met casting legend Billy Hopkins who opened her eyes to the wonders of the casting world; and the rest as they say is history! Lisa landed her first associate job with Susie Farris where she worked on many comedies, before moving on to the world of procedural drama where she was an associate and later head casting director of CBS' long running hit "Criminal Minds", as well as co-casting director on the spin-off "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders".
Today Lisa shares with us her extensive insight into the casting process, how things have changed for casting and actors in the new hybrid world pre-production. She also shares her insight into the often misunderstood world of video game casting and what an incredible opportunity and door opening job that can be. A native New Yorker, Harriet has spent her entire career working primarily in Hollywood, as one of the industry’s top Casting Directors. After earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Theater Arts, Harriet began working in the offices of the legendary Casting Director, Lynn Stalmaster. During her time there, she handled feature and TV projects. Next, she landed at ABC, as a Casting Executive, where she oversaw the casting of pilots and prime time series.

Luke served as director of photography on the final seasons of Netflix’s Grace and Frankie, starring Jane Fonda & Lily Tomlin. Luke had the joy of working with the show since its very first episode; starting as the gaffer with the series. Today Luke shares with us some of his favorite moments with the show and creative team. It's evident how much he enjoyed his time with the project!
Luke and his fellow DP worked to achieve the look of a feature comedy for Grace and Frankie; with these legendary actors, on a television schedule. Combining very natural realistic lighting with portrait-style lighting, Luke was able to ensure that the cast looked as beautiful as possible while the audience was immersed in Grace & Frankie's world. He also relished the opportunity to work with four legends on a daily basis, and took inspiration from their kindness and generosity to everyone on set.
Approaching filmmaking in general from a holistic point of view, Luke believes that all decisions matter to the final product and need to work together in concert. Working diligently to elevate the project while working closely with directors to create a united team focused on putting the director’s vision on screen. His most notable collaborations have been with Alex Hardcastle, Marta Kauffman, Rebecca Asher, Ken Whittingham, John Hoffman, and Molly McGlynn; and he learned extensively from cinematographers Caleb Deschanel, David Lanzenberg, and Gale Tattersall.

Raised in central New Jersey, Pat began working in theater during high school. After graduating from Douglass College, she went on to NYU to earn a graduate degree in theater education, with a focus on directing. She was invited by Alan Wasser to join New York's legendary Broadway theater, The Circle in the Square. Pat quickly found herself drawn to casting and the rest as they say is history!
She moved to TCG, a non-profit casting clearing house for theaters around the country. During her tenure there, she ran the National Student Auditions. She began working with every major regional theater in the United States and Canada; forging relationships and pipelines to new talent which continue to this day, and established her as a new force on the national theater scene.
With Pat's influence in theater firmly established, she branched out into film and television, where she quickly established her company McCorkle Casting. Her eye for spotting young talent continues discovering unknown actors who are future household names.

The majority of Sara's casting career was at Disney Television Animation, where she spent 12 years learning how to cast an animated series from top to bottom. Her time at FOXnot only allowed Sunday to work on a wide variety of projects to learn what she loved, but also introduced her to now business partner Meg Morman. The ladies opened Morman Boling Casting in 2004.
Once given the freedom to pick projects that speak to them, the ladies quickly made a name for themselves! Though you might be surprised what "actor staple" the ladies used to get the word out for their new office. Now with numerous Artios nominations and wins to their credit they need no introduction; helping bring to life projects like Hello, My Name Is Doris starring Sally Fields and Waitress starring Keri Russell, the film that set into motion Broadway's beloved hit!
Regardless of how busy she gets, Sunday makes the time to give back to her creative community currently serving on the national board of CSA. She and Meg also serve as Casting Consultants for the Film Independent's Directing Lab. Please join me in welcoming Sunday Boiling to the show!

Today I'm joined by cinematographer Bradley Stonesifer. Bradley Graduated from Brooks Institute of Photography, Summa Cum Laude. His tireless hands-on approach to story, camera and lighting laid the groundwork for his generous work ethic.
Bradley is a highly accomplished cinematographer who has lensed narrative projects that have premiered at the largest film festivals, and big screens worldwide. His feature Documentary work “Call Me Lucky” premiered at Sundance; and his short form work “Me + Her”, a cardboard puppet movie which premiered at Sundance ’14 is truly one of a kind!
As a Commercial DP Bradley helped launch the Microsoft “Common” Campaign. He’s had two Super Bowl Commercials to date. He also founded successful production company Island Creek Pictures with his wife. Bradley's passion for storytelling hinges on pairing meaningful stories with cinematic visuals.

Autumn saw her breakout role in 2005, as the quirky-cute and socially awkward Taylor Townsend on the final two seasons of The O.C. Autumn is also a Hallmark sweetheart starring in 10 romantic comedies for the network! You might also remember Autumn from her memorable performance as firecracker Lizzie Grant on HBO’s Entourage and scientist Katie Andrew on ABC’s No Ordinary Family.
Raised in Southern California, Autumn fell in love with acting when she saw her first play at 6. She begged her parents to let her audition for a role in her local community theater, where she grew her talent and passion for acting over the next decade of her childhood. At 17, she was accepted to UCLA’s prestigious musical theatre program, where she spent the next few years immersed in voice, dance and acting technique. After UCLA her career quickly progressed to numerous stage productions and guest-starring roles on Grounded for Life, Cold Case and CSI. In addition to her film and television career, Autumn staying true to her musical theatre roots has appeared in numerous cabarets and musicians over the years. Most recently, making the jump to directing two new musicals in NY and LA.

On today's episode Lily gives us a peek behind the scenes from her time at Linda's as well as sharing some exciting news on upcoming projects with HBOMAx; like Made For Love, 8 Bit Christmas, Aquaman, Jellystone, and Raised By Wolves. Lily is responsible for making sure the flow of all things casting goes proficiently at HBOMax; from working with development teams, to the hiring of Casting Directors and actors for each project. She oversees scripted, unscripted, animation and features.
While working at Linda Lowy Casting, Lily was part of the tight knit casting team. Her first series she worked on as an Associate from pilot to the end of the series was How To Get Away With Murder. In addition to HTGAWM, Lily had the pleasure of working on multiple Shonda Rhimes shows including; Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, Station 19, For The People, and The Catch. Besides the many ShondaLand shows she helped bring to life, Lily also helped cast both seasons of Dirty John, Chance, and Preacher.

Today on What's My Frame? I'm chatting with Director Norman Buckley. Norman's career includes Pretty Little Liars, Charmed, Quantico, Chuck, Gossip Girl, and The OC just to name a few! He is co-executive producer / producing directors on Netflix's series Sweet Magnolias.
To date he has directed over 100 episodes of television. Norman's episode of The OC "The Metamorphosis" was chosen by Entertainment Weekly as one of the five best episodes of the series. His episode of Gossip Girl "The Handmaiden's Tale" was chosen by Newsweek as one of the top 10 episodes of 2007.
Outside of his directing career Norman has taught at the UCLA film school; as well as establishing the The Davyd Whaley Foundation in honor of his late husband; the foundation supports LA area artists through annual grants. Norman is one of the kindest directors I've had the joy of working with; he is an exceptional wealth of knowledge and truly loves actors!

Seth was first drawn to casting while still working as an actor; but once given the opportunity to work on the other side of the room, he was hooked! Today on What's My Frame? we're talking with Casting Director Geralyn Flood. Geralyn has worked on projects for ALL the major networks ABC, NBC, CBS, The CW, The WB, Freeform, Disney, Nickelodeon, Snapchat... and the list just continues to grow! Geralyn's first casting job was working with Jeff Greenberg on FRASIER, yes that FRASIER. While at Jeff's office she also worked on ACCORDING TO JIM, and I'M WITH HER. She then spent four years at Zane/Pillsbury working on GOOD LUCK CHARLIE, WHITE COLLAR, and GARY UNMARRIED, and countless unseen pilots; as working actors I think we all can relate! In addition to her impressive TV credits, Geralyn has worked on indie and studio films including three Mark Waters features JUST LIKE HEAVEN, THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES, and GHOSTS OF GIRLFRIENDS PAST.
Geralyn is currently working with Marc Hirschfeld on a number of projects including the CBS favorite, MAN WITH A PLAN starring Matt LeBlanc.

Today on WHAT'S MY FRAME? with chatting with television director, producer and editor Alec Smight; a New York native Alec started his career as an actor; before transitioning his career behind the camera; where he quickly became a successful film & TV editor working on MOONLIGHTING, LA LAW & CHICAGO HOPE for witch he received his first Emmy & A.C.E. nominations.
After five years in the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation editing room, Alec stepped into the role of director-producer on the series, seeing CSI through to the series completion in 2015. Alec continues his love of directing and editing most recently working on Criminal Minds, MacGyver, the new CBS series Tommy staring Edie Falco; as well as the GOSSIP GIRL reboot for HBOMax.

Today on WHAT'S MY FRAME? I'm chatting with casting director and actor's advocate, Ramani Leah. Ramani has been in casting for over a decade. working with casting legends like April Webster, Francine Maisler, and Laray Mayfield; just to name a few. The majority of Ramani's career has been in television working on shows like House of Cards, Bates Motel, and Criminal Minds.
She considers herself an “actor's advocate” and most recently started a new business alongside five other casting directors called “The Casting Director’s Cut” which is an actor’s reel editing company that allows you to consult with a casting director about your footage before it’s edited. After watching reels day in and day out, Ramani realized there was a disconnect as to what casting professionals were looking for vs. what was being put out there. Her hope is that The Casting Director’s Cut will be the start of a new industry standard for what demo reels should look like.
