As I'm currently on my summer vacation, I felt like throwing together a slow and chill mix. Something for cocktails at the pool etc etc, fill out your favourite cliché here. If the previous installment was dedicated to the quirkier side of house music, this time I'm taking it, for the lack of a better term, "back to basics". House as a genre is currently more or less on life support between fads and trends, but that doesn't mean there wouldn't be exceptions worth our attention. Here are 14 of them. You may notice some repetition of labels but what can I say, these people and the artists they put out know their stuff.Enjoy this trip to the roots of this mix series. As the previous episode was at least slightly a departure from the usual, I'd like to bring us back to the bread & butter of this series: "weird-ass house music I happen to like". OK, so maybe there's a bit of techno, boogie and whatever in there as well, but as we all know, genre purism is for babbies and amateurs.Enjoy! Support Ukraine, oppose fascism. Only for the headstrong.. I had this idea of going through my recent (and not-so-recent) archives for tracks falling outside of the BPM range I generally play. The result? A downright silly hodgepodge of eclectic high(ish) tempo madness. We got breakbeats, electro, techno.. Well take a listen and see what you can find, just don't take it too seriously. It's 2025 and the world is fantastically fucked. Fascism, climate, war, "AI" slop, the use of autotune still not prohibited by law in most countries.. The mandatory belated late summer disco(ish) mix is here. Somewhat eclectic stuff, mixed offhandedly in the intense heat, you know the deal. Usually at this point in the year I start these blurbs with something like "kicking in 20xx with some heavy hitting bangers yo!" Alas, this January we're taking it slow. Recapitulation is occasionally required to ensure past lessons aren't forgotten. Hence, today's homework takes us back to the club house basics with which this series had its start almost exactly 12 years ago. Shuffled hihats, filtered loops, DJ tools played in their entirety for no discernible reason, My Little Pony samples.. It's all in the curriculum.
Sorry about the current slow rate of dropping these mixes. I'm busy with certain other ventures, not to mention strapped for cash which limits my ability to purchase new music. Things should hopefully pick up by autumn, so keep watching this space!

Some sick house tracks just dropped. And I mean literally, as I recorded this while recovering from COVID (again). Don't worry, I'm all better now. At least it gave me a good excuse to spend quality time at the ol' DJ station. The mix mostly concentrates on the laidback and melodic side of things, but I couldn't resist the urge to throw in some more cheeky bits. Ending up with Your Planet Is Next again, it's like a tradition now or something.I may or may not be back before new year, so happy holidays and all that. P.S. Don't forget to give your support to Ukraine in destroying the fascist invaders.

Don't call it a comeback or something to that effect. Been super occupied with other music related activities lately, leading me to neglect my mixing duties to an embarassing degree. But never mind that, I'm back now and intend to crank out a fair bunch of these in the near future.
This episode provides you a somewhat eclectic selection ranging from hip hop influenced MPC workouts to house exotica and disco euphoria. Sticking to a single sound is so passé anyway.
See you in the next one, hopefully arriving sooner rather than later. Don't forget to keep supporting Ukraine in smashing the genocidal invaders.

Don't mind me, just clearing that pandemic backlog. This time it's all about working those SICK ELECTRO BANGERS M8!! 19 tracks, all killer no filler. Too much? Possibly!
Sorry if the mixing is slightly lazy at times, in my defence the heatwave made this recording session nearly unbearable. Thanks, fossil fuels.
Reminder: donate to Ukraine and vote out muppets like Scholz & co once you have the chance. Fight against the oppression of women, minorities and the disenfranchised. Give fascism no chance.

As a counterpoint to the accumulating summer heat, I'm captaining you off to a cool cruise through the still waters of smooth yacht house. Err, what? I don't even know what the fuck I'm on about.
Anyway, this one contains not one but TWO numbers from Clive from Accounts, the hottest name in the genre at the moment if you ask me (and why wouldn't you). The rest of the lineup ain't too shabby either. Some rather old tracks in here, but I still got a lot of pandemic backlog to dig through. At least I got my mixing mojo back after those lockdown blues!
Oh and just because I played some chill tunes you think I've forgotten about the ongoing genocide in Ukraine? Fat chance. Lest we forget, we'll never achieve true chill before the thorough decimation of Putin and his supporters.

Today's concept: breakbeats and more breakbeats, just in time for the May 1st hellraising. From melodic stuff to darker bangers, your boy has got you covered. No time for typing more BS, got mixes to do.
Oh and Putin's regime and its supporters can still go eat a bag of whatever genitalia they find the least appealing.

The way I see it, when the music stops evil has won. That's my excuse for releasing this upbeat disco mix at this point in time, anyway. Well that and the long Easter weekend us lucky people not currently getting cluster bombed are able to enjoy. So dig these sounds while donating to humanitarian efforts in Ukraine or campaining against your corrupt leaders who keep buying gas from Putler's genocidal fascist regime.

It's been a long time, I shouldn't have left you. Wait, have I done that bit already? Anyway, back at it after a small hiatus. This time with some machine heavy house and techno (the good kind). To keep things from getting too serious I also threw in some silly acid towards the end. I think we could all use a bit of decent music to escape the horrid reality for a while.
Some statements need to be made, so here goes: Support Ukraine! Destroy Putler and all who enable him! An extra fuck you goes out to all those who try to cower behind some "music is apolitical" or "I'm against all wars" bullshit.
More mixes coming soon, hopefully to a more peaceful world.

A musical pandemic rages on. The hideously mutated business techno variant is spreading at approximately 313x the rate of the original Detroit strain. To avoid overloading the capacity of Twitter feeds and comment sections with symptomatic douchebaggery, it is imperative to increase the public's immunity to terrible music by administering a booster dose of quality electro. This regimen is dispensed as a double sonic jab through your aural cavities. Side effects may include involuntary head nodding.

Oh hi, didn't see you there because you're not physically in the room. I'm back in mixing business after spending some time enjoying a brief bout of semi-normal living between plague waves. Time to hunker back down and espace into the sweet comfort of music. To that end, check out this particularly escapist mix of mystic pseudo-tropical low BPM groovers. Enjoy and stay safe.

I've got good news and bad news for you. Bad news first: the special episode I was planning has been postponed as it requires some special preparation. I hope to get it out later this year. And the good news? Here's a perfectly normal un-special episode for you! Better than nothing, right?
Well OK, there is one gimmick to this one. Lately I've noticed myself slipping into the "one genre per mix" thing, which didn't really use to be my style. So here's a more varied session for a change, ranging from house to electro to breakbeat to techno and who the hell knows what else. I guess the common thread between the tracks is the BPM, which is on the higher end of stuff I usually play.
I had a blast recording this mix, hopefully it manages to entertain somebody out there.

Hazy & spacy house music is the name of the game today. No bangers or breakbeats for a change, but we'll get back to that later, don't worry. The 10 year anniversary came and went, but perhaps I'll put together something mildly special regarding that for ep 152 as I hinted earlier. But first things first: now back to summer vacationing.
DL: https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=1ZBfO97us1rhkDNzmGvcbGYoCxdwDLUDz
150, now that's a large-ish round-ish number right? To celebrate this somewhat questionable "milestone", I thought of taking it back to where the series started: uplifting sample based house (almost) all the way baby! It also seems like the appropriate sound now that Berlin is between variants and we might even get to enjoy a bit of summer here. Responsibly, of course.
Speaking of numbers, the ten year anniversary of this series is up next month. Got plans for something semi-special for that too, but that'll probably be episode 152. We'll see how it turns out. I also might literally get melted by the incoming heatwave and you'll never hear from me again. Let's hope it won't come to that.

Fresh in from the heat of the Berlin spring.. which seems to have lasted for a whopping 3 days this year. Easy come easy go. Oh right, blurb about the mix goes here. Well, this one's all about those new school UK hardcore and jungle influenced breakbeats. That's it really, probably no need to draw you a diagram or anything. Only for the headstrong etc. N-joi!

Back again after another accidentally prolonged hiatus, etc etc, you know the drill. I'm not actually sure what exactly is going on with this episode. Just felt it should all go together somehow. If you come across the common thread I seem to have misplaced, please return to owner.

A belated happy new year.. Bla bla 2020 sucked yada yada. Anyway here's some fucking electro. Not sure if it's even a thing anymore but hey.
The tracks are a bit old because I originally intended to record this a month ago. However, stuff happened ranging from PC reinstalls to personal injury. Thanks to the latter, this one was mixed with nine fingers (and zero spaceballs). Hope it still "slaps" sufficiently.
By the way, this series turns 10 years old this July! I promise there'll be plenty of banging mixes coming up in 2021 for the jubilation. Catch you in the next one.

Santa's got something in his bulging sack for all the well behaved kids out there. Namely those of you who didn't attend any plague raves in 2020 and have thus avoided endangering the lives of your fellow human beings for selfish reasons. The gift-wrapped package consists of 12 laid back tunes tailor-blended by the DJ elves to help you get in the mood for the holidays. Etc etc insert generic Xmas reference here. Told you I had more time for mixing in isolation. This one's less geared for one's bumpin' enjoyment and instead a slightly more cerebral lo-fi inner space exploration kind of a thing. Yes, that most definitely is a thing. Enjoy the trip.

It was fun while it lasted. Summer gave us a brief glimpse of semi-normality, but as I write this Berlin is on a steady course towards Lockdown II: Electric Boogaloo. As a personal silver lining, returning to self-isolation at least leaves me with ample time for mixing. The first result is this funky assortment of boogie, disco and related modern derivatives. Hopefully it will bring joy to your life in this hellish post-apocalyptic reality.
Full disclosure: while recording this I accidentally ended up kind of drunk af. Sorry not sorry for possible sub-par mixing caused by this departure from my usual diciplined process.

Lately there's been no shortage of past genres experiencing a resurgence at some level. Dream house, UK garage.. Even NYC freestyle has been brought back by a new generation. However, the one nearest to my own heart has been the uptick of UK hardcore influenced sounds. Sure, it's probably the 3rd time within a decade by now and not all of it is pure gold, but among the low-effort "rave" pastiches ("rave" is still not a genre btw) there are bangers to be discovered.
So I decided to throw together a breakbeat-heavy mix, something I've yet to do in this series. It's not strictly hardcore, as there's also e.g. breaks-leaning electro and what have you. Hopefully it'll come across as consistent enough anyway.
This one might also not sport the sharpest mixing I've ever done, but in my defense it was FUCKING HOT in Berlin during the recording. Stay healthy and see you for the next one.

Moody music for a world that's lately been heading steadily towards hell in a handbasket. Or maybe in a tote bag sporting a witty printed slogan. But we'll get through this, I'm sure of it. After a crowdpleasing electro detour, we're headed right back into slightly off-kilter and decidedly untrendy house music. Sophisticated adult entertainment only, no poolside anthems here. An extra sprinkling of trance at the end, because you're worth it.

Have I got a deal for you, my friend: a DJ mix completely free of charge! What's that you say? Oh don't worry about it, my tour manager is doing just fine.
This time I decided to (figuratively speaking) dust off some (mostly) recent electro releases, just so I can still ride the last waves of the current hype cycle. I'm kidding of course: it's all killer no filler, as per standard procedure in this series.
Risking the cheapness of spraying throwaway "RIP" statements online, it would be remiss of me not to honor the passing of Florian Schneider in this context. Wishing safe travels on the Autobahn of Valhalla, the legacy lives on.

What the world needs now is good old fashioned escapism. Sadly for some, hedonistic jet setting around the globe on budget airlines has become a thing of the past, perhaps permanently. But who needs that when we're still able to trip the f out just by using our ears?
Just lean back and enjoy this set of modern day electronic exotica, perfect for getting your mind off the dystopic reality. Bonus classic also included in the end. This one goes well with a fruity IPA, Aperol Spritz or a brightly coloured cocktail. Feel free to comment with your own pairing suggestions.
As you might have guessed from the music and the gfx, this was the second half of a very special two-parter. Will probably get back into some standard club shit in the next episode.

So everyone and their dog are doing live streams now. As the quintessential contrarian, I have no choice but to present to you.. drum roll please.. audio on demand!
This long overdue set contains a versatile selection of discoish sleaze. From the recently re-released MIDI smoothness of 4AM (check out that ballsy drum programming!) to a high energy anthem kourtesy of Krystal Klear.. I bet you can find some kind of a common thread here if you try really really hard.
Until the next one, stay safe out there. Make sure to support your local artists and venues, they deserve it.

Elektroaufgabe is back, now 100% electro free! This time taking you on a 1.5 hour trip back in the general direction of its roots with pure and unadulterated house music. Extra points if you spot the sample which makes a comeback all the way from episode 3.

This is the way 2020 starts: neither with a bang nor a whimper, but a steady hour-long pulsation of spacy frequencies.
This one goes downright trance-ish at times, but fear not, the mandatory electro beats and obligatory nods to UK hardcore are still there. Fellow old timers, pay attention to that sweet "Adventures of Dama" edit/bootleg/whatever by Alphonse. Sure takes me back.

Took my sweet-ass time with this one eh? Sorry for the hold-up, the end of the year has been all sorts of busy. I intend to pick up the pace with new mixes now, as it's not like my backlog of tracks would be growing any shorter..
But anyway. Purist beware, as today's theme is mostly chill slowish tunes spanning from electro and boogie to disco and plain old house. A couple of Finnish releases are included as well for an extra sprinkle of patriotism, courtesy of Televisio and Aaro "Tuuttimörkö" DiCosta.
More to follow soon (honest!) Oh, and a happy new year to you all.

You thought lo-fi house was dead? Well.. You may be right there. Shit, should've released this one at Halloween so I could at least be making some zombie puns right now.
Lack of topicality aside, this is an assortment of (you guessed it) house music. It ranges from saturated R'n'B (yes it's a thing) to your more traditional Lil Louis-esque chord work. And because of no-reason-in-particular, I had to finish off with a touch of Dutch stuff including an anthem from Legowelt you have surely heard by now.

Starting off right where the last episode.. started? That's right, except that instead of venturing from electro to disco, we do a 180 and end up straight back in electroland. Fat beats, acid lines, crunchy distortion, the requisite tropes and clichés.. you know the score.

Thought I was going to give you up? Let you down? Even go as far as run around and desert you? Well you get the joke already so no, I'd never. Sorry for taking my time with this episode. Been busy with a lot of things, including a very special DJ appearance which you'll hopefully get to hear soon.
To make up for the delay I present whopping 81 minutes of delectable discoish and electroish material. It's all relatively new stuff, but at times sounds like an Amiga megademo from '89. The perfect soundtrack before a night out at the copper bar. Ok, I don't even know what I'm going on about anymore. Enjoy!

Coming to you straight outta the neverending global warming heatwave, I deliver a chilled out mix to hopefully help you cool down a bit. Among the frozen treats you may find jazzy vibes, hints of Detroit etc.
In addition to the sweaty temperatures, I was enjoying a lovely summer flu while recording this. Hence it may be even more sloppy technically than usual. Sorry! Furthermore, constantly getting barbecued is doing my head in, so I'll just give up on trying to type any more BS now.

Looking back at past episodes, it seems this series has been heading towards a rather serious direction lately. Well, fuck that. Only posers need to maintain some silly techno street cred, while the rest of us can have a bit of fun every now and then. What would be more fun than straight up summer friendly house bangers with piano riffs, catchy vocal hooks and the works? And because it's me doing this I just had to finish with some UK hardcore pastiches. Enjoy the tunes, enjoy the season and don't get burned too badly out there.

Back in business after surviving another one of those brutal Berlin heat waves, which made literally anything feel like more appealing use of one's time than sweating at the DJ corner. While still recovering I'm keeping it simple: just some good old no-frills electro here. Crisp snares, 303s, robot clichés, you know the effing concept.

Hi kids, ready for your "Discover Monthly" (tm)? All the lit af jams you didn't even know would slap. What's best, this one is curated by a real living human being instead of a corporate-tailored algorithm designed to promote major labels. Totally tubular, right? Put THAT in your Juul and vape it!
..No? Fine, whatever, carry on children. Just mind the lawn.

Now is the time for me to play what I feel. Just like the previous 126 times, come to think of it.
This one's a trip to space and back, with some electro to boost up the house trek towards warp 9.. Wait, is anyone actually reading this shit? Probably not, so might as well keep it brief. L8r m8!

What up people, what's the boogie? Looking good just like it ought to be looking. Highly fintelligent puns aside, here's a completely random selection of discoish/boogieish things to kick you square into those disco balls. Wait, did I already make that joke? With 126 episodes it's getting hard to tell.
Word of warning: this one is a very laid back session with not much attention paid to a common thread or structure. As these tunes are not exactly your perfectly quantized modern tech house bangers, you may also occasionally find the technical side of mixing quite loose. Sorry about that, did my best.
Already got the music for the next episode lined up so expect that shortly. And stay sunny out there!

Gratuitious saturation, muted high frequencies, distorted crunch, sampled-in tape hiss loops.. Bring out the Roomba(tm), as the first Hausaufgabe for 2019 is a dusty house extravaganza. Crunchy samples, loops, filters and shuffled beats. Guest starring: synth riffs and M1 presets for that extra zing. Everything old is funky fresh again.

Look ma, I can play electro! Just like everyone else and their dog in 2018, as this year we've been well into another revival cycle for the genre. As one could expect some bitter old farts got all salty about it, crying about "jumping on the bandwagon" and so on. Oh please. I for one welcome new kids on the block to crank out nice releases and (hopefully) bring about a breath of fresh air to the scene. All aboard the wagon!
To that end, here's some electro influenced stuff along with a few breakbeats to boot. Just in time for the Silvester shindigs, too. Happy new year! Got some new tricks up my sleeve for the next one, so see you on the other side.

Fresh from our unevenly heating antique gas oven, it's a batch of tasty treats for the commercial season formerly known as something religious. Nothing too spicy this time, just something easily digestable to jingle your bells. Half-baked pastry metaphors aside, let's just say there's at least one track here which is sure to hit the annual top 10 I'll be tweeting out in December. Guess which one for a chance to win a virtual hi-five.
Alas, I'm here to mix, not to write a novel. Spare time permitting I'll try to crank out two more episodes before the new year just to delight you (and to get through my backlog). Bis gleich..

The further on the edge, the hotter the intensity? Nah don't fret, today it's smooth sailing around the marina of adult oriented yacht house. But beware, cap'n.. You'll never know when the bunny-eared Kraken awakes from its disco nap and strikes from beneath the surface.

You'll never know how hard I've tried.. to purvey decent music to people in the know. But I do try. Alas, sometimes even guys just wanna have fun and what's more fun than cheerful sample-based MPC house?
Time to dust off those loops and once again dig deep towards the roots of this series. With a (still somewhat) fresh lo-fi distorted twist of course. I even broke my own arbitrary rules and included two tracks from one artist in form of a double bill by Kornél Kovács. I know, right? Such innovation and disruption! It's like this is the Uber of DJ mixes or something.
More pop music coming up soonish.

Rest in pieces, 2018 summer inferno: I for one welcome our new sub-tropical weather front. A temporarily chilled local climate calls for an ice cold soundtrack, so try this one for size. From Luke Slater's analogue dubs to a downright industrial Tronik Youth remix, this stuff is sure to toughen you up for the harsh autumn ahead. To balance it out I do my best to induce warm emotions via the loving Paranoid London tribute to the late DJ Bubbles, as well as a pleasant UK hardcore style comedown for those headstrong enough to make it to the bitter end.

Don't mind me, just playing catch-up to make up for lapses in the releasing schedule. This means (at least) a double bill of episodes for August. After the disco heat of 117, let us blast off towards some tropical space hipster excursions. Recommended for seasoned audionauts.
I had such a backlog of excellent music this month I didn't even have to go shopping for new tracks. Ergo, the stuff in here isn't the most recent out there, sorry about that (not really). Notably, it's the 3rd mix in a row to feature something from Casino Times' superb EP on Tooli's Omena label. If that's not a ringing endorsement to go out and invest in this particular release, I don't know what is.
We'll see if I have it in me to crank out a third one in August, keep it locked.

Newsflash: it's hot here in Berlin. Too hot to be cooped up inside recording live DJ mixes, that's for sure. Still, I somehow managed. The intense temperature did make me less inclined to spend time planning a super coherent mix though. So I just had fun on the decks with very random (but great) discoish tracks for the summer heat.
The unreasonable warmth is furthermore impairing my ability for writing lengthy description texts, so buh-bye. And for the record: yes, this mixtape belongs on pizza.

Hola Amigas y Ataris! It's been quiet on the Hausaufgabe front lately but don't worry, I'm everything but abandoning the series. Like every year, it's just been a tad tricky to find time for mixing during the combined vacation / work deadline rush season.
Speaking of which, I recently returned from the Balearic isles, where I was deeply touched by the trancey house sounds of the region. Hence I'm presenting this lovely mellow mix of blissful beachside club friendly tunes.. Or could it be I'm just fucking with you and what's on offer are actually rough electro influenced bangers best served with strobes and blackout curtains? There's one way to find out..
If you're headstrong enough to survive this one I'll see you in no. 117 which should be out later this month.

Some head towards Mallorca, others to the Orient, a great few of you even land square in the middle of our Kiez. But how about something different this season: a trip to space?
This far out itinerary only takes us 68 minutes from port to port but sees us crossing many realms. Arctic travels through rough seas and into the neon sky. This is for the Gz but this is not for the hustlaz. Sorry hustlaz, you need to get back in line with the rest of them. I realized it had been a while since the last episode of honest house bangers, so try this one for size. No artsy hipster bullshit, just shuffled hats, gratuitious distortion and the mandatory Loleatta Holloway vocal clip. The 1st of May riots start early this year.

You know, I wanna ask you something: have you ever wondered why it is we love this music? Yeah, me neither. Never mind then, here's more for you to love. Mostly laid back sounds, even slightly trancy at times, with not much in terms of common thread and bound together by loose'n'relaxed mixing. Tailor made for the extended Easter weekend. And if this leaves you still hungry for more, there's something very special coming out on April 6th. Keep watching my twitterings to find out exactly what that may be.

First impressions may be deceiving. Like a citrus fruit, a colourful shell can envelop a bitter crunchy pill to swallow. But you can bet before we're through, mister/miss, I'll make a young person-of-prefered-gender on acid out of you.

Exactly ten episodes ago I declared disco edits to be back in vogue. Should be putting my mixtape where my mouth is, you say? Can do. How about this arrangement of sample heavy tracks and feelgood boogie bootlegs? It was recorded last Sunday while recovering from the most excellent Mr Good Vibes party, I'm guessing that shows. Go ahead, funk it up. You know you want to.

Easing you into 2018 nice and slow.. and I do mean slow. This episode is all about them low BPM jams. Cocktail lounge noodling courtesy of Larry Heard's and Harry Dennis' The It, emo house vibes by Sweden's own Your Planet Is Next, a 1983 post-punk electro wave smasher from the recently unearthed and long forgotten San Francisco project Dub Oven.. If this tracklist isn't worthy of you switching to low gear, nothing is.
Apologies for slipping a bit from my usual semi-consistent releasing schedule. So many projects, precious few hours in a day. Catch up is in progress, the next few episodes being already mapped out. Be sure to check back soon.

Quick, Robin, to the mixcave! There was still time to crank out one last round of bangers for 2017, so here you go. This time with a technoish flavour.
Once again, I'd like to thank everyone out there who listened to my mixes this year and maybe even found them entertaining. There's plenty of more to come in 2018, hopefully including some very special surprises. So stay tuned and have a happy new year!

I've heard things you people wouldn't believe. Attack-decay-sustain-release envelopes on fire off a vintage Oberheim. I listened to C-sides of rare double-12"s in the dark near Frankfurter Tor. All those moments will be lost in time.. like mixtapes of no-name bedroom DJs in Soundcloud.. Time to rave.
This one goes out to everyone out there in need of some tropically cosmic space boozing soundtracks in their life. Have a nice trip.

Greetings, dear listener. I hope all is good in your hood and this dark & stormy season isn't being too hard on your psyche. To help fend off any impending gloom, enjoy this aural pick-me-up in form of upbeat bangers. I also threw in jazzy shuffles for good measure.. and since this particular dead horse isn't quite thoroughly beaten yet, even some of that lo-fi meme house for the hipsters. Bon Jovi!

This Tuesday we were celebrating the German Unity Day. What better excuse to.. um.. unify together some tracks and.. build up a wall of sound to be torn down? Sorry, those puns sounded way better in my head.
Anyhoo, I won't even pretend there's a grand plan or concept behind this mix. Just loosely coupled recent favourites with a slight accidental electro/acid twist. I had to include another piece from the Mytron & Ofofo EP as it's one of my favourite releases of the year. Go buy it, now! Also pay attention to the lovely moody electro number from Rag Dabons and an Afx-esque 2014 classic by Automatic Tasty.
See you in the next installment. Meanwhile, I'll be looking for new tunes (along with freedom)..

RIP summer of 2017, all the couple of weeks of it. As we're already plummeting face first into the cold depths of autumn, drastic measures for survival are in order. As your attorney, I advise you to mix up a stiff exotic cocktail, curl up somewhere reasonably warm and put on this compilation of slow and easy escapism. You name it, we got it: disco, world musicish vibes, subtle psychedelia, boogie, hip hop.. and of course that lovely, lovely Brazilian Portugese. Happy travels.

Bleepin' ain't easy but it's necessary. For those of my 20-odd listeners out there with a sweet spot for squelching synths, you're in for a treat. This episode's all about arpeggios, acid and analogueish droning. Triple-A, baby! Is it house? Is it techno? More importantly, who cares? Enjoy responsibly, best served loud.

I'm back, not accompanied by any vengeance though. Kudos to all with whom I enjoyed good times during our vacation travels within the motherland. The backlog of tracks has been piling up, so expect a bunch of post-hiatus episodes shortly. This one starts with something the unenlightened call "deep", then a bit of that hipster-friendly lo-fi distorted meme house we all know and love. Finally, things take a turn towards the derp side.
Catch you in the next one. Also, in an unprecedented move I'm actually playing some small-time gigs in Berlin this autumn. See you there maybe? Keep refreshing your Twitter for details.

Can't.. stop.. mixing.. Need.. fix.. of.. new.. tunes.. Nah, just joshing you dude. I am able to, like, totally quit whenever I want. It's not like I'd have a problem or anything, no sir!
While waiting for the inevitable intervention, check out this melodic mix perfect for summertime activities. Right off the bat we have some synth pluck heavy contemporary Monkey Island house (yes, that's a genre). We then head towards an abstract and percussive territory, finishing up with the obligatory piano and sample based sunkissed anthems. Just like your mother's favourite curation algorithm used to select 'em!
After this week I'm heading out for a little rehab.. err I mean vacation, so there'll be a brief lull in spamming you with mixes. Catch you on the flip side.

Back to business as usual. While the weather forecast fails to corroborate this, we've reached summer on our half of the globe.. at least technically. I am thus all but contractually obligated to lay down something more lighthearted and easygoing, preferably with a boogie/disco twist. Remember back in the day when edits were a thing? Or that brief period during which "nu-disco" (oh how I despise that term) actually seemed fresh and exciting? Well then, this one's for you.

I like 'em round and big.. the numbers, that is. After nearly 6 years of this mix series I've reached #100, which often seems to be a major thing for those subscribing to the ol' base-10. And what a package do we have here for the celebration. I may have gone too far in a few places.. but it's stylistically designed to be that way.
Early on I decided to take the boring and predictable route of highlighting some of my favourite tunes from past installments. Maybe not an all-encompassing retrospective, but stuff I really liked and feel worthy of a second playthrough. And that's exactly what we have bere. Alas, I met a conundrum. 99 episodes equal quite a few tracks (1234 to be exact), so cherry picking just 12-15 wouldn't do justice to the back catalogue. I toyed with the idea of putting together a crazy megamix style affair, but that didn't seem to fit the general theme. In the end I decided to abandon all compromises and spent a long sweaty afternoon working on this ridiculous monster: 40 tracks, 216 minutes. Now, I don't expect many (any?) to listen to this in one go, but it is what it is. Why do it if you can't overdo it?
Once again, I'd like to thank anyone who has taken the time to tune in to these mixes. I mainly do this for my own perverse amusement, but it's always nice to hear feedback (as well as critique) from people out there who have found these interesting in some way. Fear not, in the next one I'll return to the usual less exhausting ~60min format. In the meantime, enjoy the ride.

I ain't no Simon from the Clothing Room, but I got 99 episodes and this.. err.. is one. Whatever. I'm on vacation on this week and in a generally scheißegal mood, so I won't even try to pretend there'd be a common thread in today's mix. Anything goes from G-funk samples to Detroit-ish riffs and lo-fi jacking. But don't worry, the tracks are all on fyre like a trust fund Instagram influencer. The next one is the big one-oh-oh, so expect something (at least marginally) special.

BPM level over 130, dirty words, Dance Mania.. Getting all ghetto up in this M.F. If Episode #95 was "slow A or B sides of previously played stuff", this one is more or less its uptempo counterpart. Go ahead, bang the box or juke the joint or what have you.
Download: http://minie0.pp.fi/breaque/hausaufgabe-98-2017-04-15_hq.mp3
Jazz samples and smooth "deep house" chords are nice and all, but allow me to get technical for a moment. In this episode, the name of the game is synth bleeps accompanied by classic drum machines and subtle distortion. Wait, or is that three names? Anyhoo: it's house, techno and electro in perfect harmony. Purist beware.

Slowly but surely, the project lumbers on towards the 100th episode milestone. No experimental prototyping in this sprint, just house music so standards-compliant its producers should have no trouble passing even the toughest ISO 9001 audit.
Highlights among the features of this commit include a nice Kaos edit, a rereleased hit by Nthng as DJ Wave and a little something from Lauri H, a fresh mysterious face from Oulu. Kärpät!

I know tracks, I have the best tracks. Tremendous tracks. Haters and losers with their alternative facts regarding so-called house music? Sad! I just may have to build a wall of sound and make LiveStyle pay for it.
Lame and obvious topical joking aside, here are 13 straightforward 4-on-the-floor club tracks. No-nonsense stuff, or at the very least keeping the nonsense levels negligible. Crank it up, enjoy and try not to think of the sorry state of the world. That's my plan anyhow.

Can't stop, won't stop, probably should stop but whatever. It's back to basics with moody, jazzy, crispy and just generally very adjective-y house tracks. Sampled vinyl artifacts? Check. NASA soundbites? Check. Studio Barnhus delivering another ridiculously massive hit? Double check. I'm lovin' it, hope you will too. Peace out.

The smoke has cleared, the ears have ceased ringing from the relentless blasting of fireworks. 2017 has indeed dawned on the streets of Berlin, which are still drowning in empty Rotkäppchen bottles and rocket residue. But the good times don't have to be over just yet: how about ringing in 2017 one more time with the latest episode of Hausaufgabe?
This time I'm presenting some melodic house music, detroit influences and a bit of techno at the end to perk you up. Enjoy and look forward for a lot more this year.

As mentioned before, coming up with novel descriptions for these things keeps getting progressively harder after 90-odd episodes. So let's just go over the facts, shall we: 72 minutes, top notch grade A house music, relaxed mixing, no BS. Dig it or don't. Even our own Tom of Finland gets namedropped somewhere in there, so we shall meet at the marketplace.

Back once again with the etc etc. Apologies for taking my sweet time with this episode, but I experienced certain hardware problems rendering me unable to record for some time. That unfortunate business has now been solved, so expect the steady stream of mixes to continue.
As promised, I bring you something slightly different from the previous two episodes. Slower, more relaxed and almost discoish at places, with bonus jazzy bits and even hip-hop samples (dedicated to Teemu of course). Fun trivia: AFAIK, this is the first installment since #43 featuring vocal samples from Love Sensation! Unless I forgot some track(s) between now and then..
Anyway, have a pleasant listen. Barring any further hardware crashes (knock on wood eh), I'll return to the decks in the very near future.

And now for something completely similar. This episodes continues right where we last parted ways: more drum machines, more acid, more lo-fi distortion! Highlights include YM-chip flavoured Japanese console game soundtrack vibes from DJ Sonikku, tasteful breakbeat usage courtesy of Gerd Janson & Shan, as well as an apparent attempt by Steve Murphy to see how far one can push distorting a BWH sample in a loopy house track. Spoiler: quite far indeed.
Episode 90 will follow soon. While third time's a charm and all, this time I'll be putting out something slightly different for a change. Promise.

The 303 is strong with this one. I don't often go for such a specific theme, but this time it just kind of happened. As I was looking into my backlog of unplayed purchases for the mix, I noticed that quite a few of them came with a TB twist. However it may not be in the cliched style of acid house/techno one might expect, but more of a subtle additive. Nice to see the box (and its clones) still getting use in the originally intended form, that is, a bassline machine. So then, squelch away.

Remember those uplifting balearic disco house anthems I mentioned a while back? Perfect for the season and all that? I know you've been waiting anxiously all summer for some sweet terrace-ready sounds and I'm happy to say that this episode.. still won't have anything of the sort, sorry.
This mix was conceived on a particularly dark and stormy day here in Berlin and it's a veritable flood of spacy, synth-ey (?) excursions. Don't worry, the music itself is way more tasteful than my half-assed puns. Contains tunes both old and new but all of them excellent. Have a nice trip.
Alt download: http://minie0.pp.fi/breaque/hausaufgabe-87-2016-07-28_hq.mp3
Choose summer. Choose outdoor activities, choose sun, choose beaches, choose beer.. Or choose lurking deep within the mancave piecing together new internet mix"tapes", during a season when precious few people are spending their time online listening to anything anyway. No points for guessing which option I went with.
In true careless vacation spirit, I didn't bother to plan this one out too much. Disco, acid, that thing kids of today call "deep house".. Whatever, just throw it all in there. I'm still digging the result and hopefully you do too. Pay close attention especially to the superb remix from Jazzuelle and the re-released Nick Holder classic. Even James Curd of Greenskeepers fame makes an appearance. And yes, that sweet Gerd track really does come built in with that ballsy distortion. Wasn't me, honest!
Alt download: http://minie0.pp.fi/breaque/hausaufgabe-86-2016-07-15_hq.mp3
Cut the midrange, drop the.. midsummer? Ok so that one doesn't really work. In any case, here's episode no. 85, which mostly concentrates on uptempo bangers, harsh kicks and tasteful distortion. UTTU features prominently here, kudos to them for several outstanding releases as of late. Also, a special tip of the hat to Asok for all those Amiga references in track titles :)
This one arrives just in time for the 5th anniversary of the series, taking place next week on July 3rd. For the occasion, I've been planning to do a live stream with highlights from past episodes. No exact date is yet set, keep an eye on my Twitter feed if interested. I'll probably pick a rainy day if/when one comes by, as the current Berlin weather doesn't make the idea of prolonged bedroom DJing too attractive.
Speaking of which, why don't I just stop typing now and head outside for sun and beers. Enjoy the mix!
Alt download: http://minie0.pp.fi/breaque/hausaufgabe-85-2016-06-23_hq.mp3
Out with the old, in with the new. No spelunking for buried treasure like the last time, only funky freshness straight outta the vast realms of recent releases. Well mostly anyway, at least one re-release seems to have snuck in through the back door. Oops?
This is where you'd usually find some sort of description of today's mix, but come on, just listen to this stuff. And then head off to buy those tracks to show your support for quality artists and labels. Man I love house music. In fact, I'm off to mix some more for you right now. So just chill til the next episode.

Missed me? Never mind, don't answer that. As promised I took a small hiatus after the three-episode spam last month. But now Hausaufgabe is back in effect, so insert hyperbole here.
For this episode I dug into the archives for a change, unearthing several ancient but previously unplayed anthems. Warning: it's a tad rougher around the edges than an average episode and you might even spot some particularly loose mixing at places. Sorry about that. In case you'd start to get bored of all that house (like that would be possible eh), the set even enters slightly electro-ish territory towards the end courtesy of my homies Lazercat and Mesak.
So, like, enjoy and stuff. A month and a half to go before the 5th anniversary of this mix series, who'll know what crazy special shit I'll come up with at that point (probably not much).
Alt download URL: http://minie0.pp.fi/breaque/hausaufgabe-83-2016-05-19_hq.mp3
Another day, another mix. This one finishes the hat trick of three rapid-succession Hausaufgabe installments in a few weeks. Hopefully this flood of new episodes has made up for the fact that I've recently been somewhat slipping in my release schedule. Perhaps it's the spring sun finally gracing Berlin that has re-energized me to spend more time behind the turntables.
Speaking of which, tradition dictates that in order to commemorate the passing of winter, cheerful disco house mixes are expected from every house DJ worth their salt during this season. Whether these traditions hold within the confines of my mancave is a different matter. To go against the grain just a bit, I bring you 12 dubby, spacy and at times even slightly abstract numbers from a range of talented producers. Something for those late night listening sessions. Something for a rainy day, perhaps.
Download: http://minie0.pp.fi/breaque/hausaufgabe-82-2016-04-08_hq.mp3
After the beatdown that was the previous episode, I'd recon we've all earned a little something to cool down with. I'm turning things down a notch this time, with a more chilled out and soothing house mix containing sounds both old and new. Make sure to especially check out the "comeback" of Larry Heard as Mr Fingers, plus a particularly ear-pleasing remix from Finland's own Saine.

Something for the extended Easter weekend? Like, I dunno, an extended mix of no-nonsense house bangers? Got you covered mate. This baby also comes equipped with a bunch of those UK hardcore revival sounds we all know and love.. Well I do, anyways. Old school is the new new school? But I digress. Just crank it up and have a good one.

Once again an improvised b2b mix by myself & ovrWatch, recorded in Utrecht on 2016-03-05. Just a short 52min session this time, as we were in a hurry to catch a train to Amsterdam for some next level beers.
The word on the street is that mixing is officially an obsolete skill now, as Spotify's Diplo-promoting party playlists can do all that stuff for you automatically. Schade. Alas, since I had already recorded this mix last night, might as well go ahead and publish it. No Duplos or Legos here though, just moody house and techno for the discerning connoisseur.
Alternative download URL: http://minie0.pp.fi/breaque/hausaufgabe-79-2016-02-20_hq.mp3
As promised, I hit you with part two of the double stacked Hausaufgabe assignment for January. We pick up where #77 left off: nothing but bangers here! This one unintentionally turned into a mix very heavy on Aus Music, but there's nothing wrong with that as they keep putting out top quality releases at a near-exhausting pace. More to come in February, stay cool out there (shouldn't be too hard in these temperatures eh)..
Happy new etc. The years may change, but the Hausaufgabe series is here to stay. While cleaning up my backlog of previously unplayed but excellent 2015 releases, I'll be pumping out two episodes this month within a short interval. This is the first one, filled with spacy and dubby goodness. I believe the kids today call it "deep" but then again what do I know. Stay sharp, the second January installment will arrive shortly.
New hosting is under work, meanwhile you can find new episodes on the usual cloud services. Keep an eye on my Twitter for updates.
