Chris Janson joins us to talked about how his wife Kelly helped changed the course of his life and his new single, "Buy Mom".
Chris Janson graduated high school, packed his green Monte Carlo and made the four-hour drive to Nashville. He was 18 in the summer of 2004, and the Perryville, Mo., native had never been to a big city. People in his hometown didn’t go to college – they went to work. Janson decided music was his job.
When he arrived, Janson pulled his car into the alley between the Ryman Auditorium and Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge. He intended to park there, figure out his next move and maybe sleep for the night. He was immediately kicked out.
All these later Chris is one of music's strongest singer songwriters.

Brantley Gilbert was born in the small town of Jefferson, Georgia, just outside of Athens. He grew up listening to country music, but he also listened to a lot of Athens rock bands like R.E.M. and the B-52's, plus the swaggering Southern rock of bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd. It was a near-fatal car accident when he was 19 years old that inspired him to give music his all, and he started writing songs, playing mostly solo acoustic gigs before forming a band that could bring his vision of a hard-stomping country/rock/soul show to fruition.

Brett Young is a singer and songwriter whose music balances the sophistication of contemporary pop with the emotional palette of modern country. He was born and raised in Orange County, California, and was a teenager when he first developed a love for music by learning to play guitar.
In the late '90s, Young was a student at Costa Mesa's Calvary Chapel High School, and he volunteered to help the school's worship leader with performances on Friday mornings. One day, the music leader was out of town, and Brett ended up taking his place. The experience convinced him he had what it took to perform in front of an audience, but even as his confidence grew, his first loyalty was to sports. Young was a star pitcher on Calvary Chapel High's baseball team, and in his senior year he helped the team achieve a 28-1 record and took them to the CIF championships, chalking up 130 strikeouts and a 0.90 ERA that season.
Brett was being scouted by the majors during his high school days, but his baseball career came to an end in college when a serious elbow injury spoiled his pitching arm, and he began exploring music again.
Thanks to "Head Over Boots" and "Dirt on My Boots" -- a second single that bested its predecessor, reaching number one on Country Airplay and crossing over into the pop Top 40 -- California Sunrise turned Jon into a star. The album stayed on the charts through 2018, spinning off additional hits: "Heartache on the Dance Floor" went to three in 2017, "She Ain't in It" peaked at 21 that same year, and "Night Shift" reached 14 in 2018.
Jon released his third album, Heartache Medication, in September 2019, which spawned the hits "Ain't Always the Cowboy" and the chart-topping title cut. The following year saw him release Rancho Fiesta Sessions, an eight-song collection of cover songs.
Tenille Arts was born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan and named after the popular 1970’s husband and wife group, Captain and Tennille. Her name might have been the first indication she was destined for a future in music, but the bigger sign came when she was about six or seven years old.
“The story my mom loves to tell is that I was actually singing a Shania Twain song in my back yard, just belting it out, and my neighbor overheard me over the fence. She came over and told my mom she thought I had a good voice and maybe we should pursue it.”
Her mom signed her up for voice lessons and by the time she was 13 she got her first guitar and began writing songs and the rest...is the beginning of a very cool story.

Christopher Alan Young was born on June 12, 1985, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He was interested in music from a young age. During his teenage years, he sang in the choir but didn't get serious about music as a career until later.
"When I got into high school and all the other choir students wanted to be professional singers, I was thinking about being an attorney (by that time I’d already been on TV twice singing)," Young said in an interview.
"When I turned 16, I realized that I was really, really happy when I was on stage and that I loved singing—I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
Country music singer/songwriter Dustin Lynch broke into the Nashville mainstream in 2012 with his chart-topping debut, which introduced fans to his slick and catchy bro-country style. He earned an induction into the Grand Ole Opry before returning in 2020 with his fourth album, Tullahoma.

This is our version of the classic Twas the Night Before Christmas, the parent's version.
As Christmas this poem reminds us of the soldiers spending Christmas alone in foreign lands while we are home enjoying our family, friends and freedom.
The poem was originally titled "Merry Christmas, My Friend," written by Lance Corporal James M. Schmidt in 1987 while serving as a Battalion Counter Sniper at the Marine Barracks 8th & I in Washington, DC. Schmidt went on to become an entertainment lawyer in California after completing his military service.
This adapted version was created by Father Ted Berndt and his daughter Ellen Stout.

Old Dominion joined us to talk about their new single. The band's five members were are incredible songwriters. They have written hits for Luke Bryan, Cole Swindell, and Tyler Farr. Old Dominion arose during the waning days of bro-country, a genre the band's five members were partially responsible for as authors of hits for Luke Bryan, Cole Swindell, and Tyler Farr. Comprising four Virginians -- Matt Ramsey (lead singer, guitar), Geoff Sprung (bass, vocals), Whit Sellers (drums), Brad Tursi (guitar, vocals) -- and Detroit's Trevor Rosen (guitar, keyboards, vocals), the band formed in Nashville. Boasting top-flight modern country songwriters in Ramsey, Rosen, and Tursi (the Band Perry, Keith Urban, Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, Chris Young, and Craig Morgan have all tracked Old Dominion songs), the group soon attracted a lot of attention.
