Assign yourself a scavenger hunt: Pick something and look for it throughout your day such as blue cars, noisy vehicles, bird chirps, machine sounds, patterns, or smells. This could be anything, broken windows, security cameras, or a particular graffiti artist. Find it, take a picture, or note it. Look for more. When you're done, try to figure out why that stuff is there. The object here is to find something to pay attention to throughout your day and make note of it every time you see it (or hear or smell it, whatever you have assigned yourself). In your discussion, write about what you assigned yourself and all the times you observed it. What all did you notice about that (whatever you chose to observe)? Did you find it in similar places each time? What did you have to do to pay attention to see/hear/smell it? The idea is to see if you can figure out what makes this stand out and keep occurring or gets your attention. Keep this simple. The article in the Resources folder entitled "How to Boost Your Observation Skills...." can help you get an idea for how to go about this.
