On a similar tip, the film "Scare Me" takes that title way too literally. The co-op horror FPS game GTFO tries to take a deceptively simplistic title to the heights of it's genre. "Finger Guns" features two teens who find their imaginary power is realer than they could ever imagine. The long awaited (kinda) conclusion of M.Night Shyamalan's Unbreakable trilogy coughcashgrabcough brought some mixed emotions to the crew. While Adam, who was actually excited to witness the story come to a head, Pat was more inclined to begrudgingly tolerate this twist-laden mess. Mostly built off a limited cache of goodwill brought on by James McAvoy's brilliant acting in "Split." That can only get you so far though... was it far enough for M.Night to recapture a place in our hearts? (Spoiler: No)
2000’s Unbreakable and 2016’s Split come together in this comic-book-like thriller: Glass. From Unbreakable, Bruce Willis returns as security guard David Dunn, who uses his supernatural abilities to track criminals, as does Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price, known also by his pseudonym Mr. Glass, in an entirely new position. Joining from Split are James McAvoy, reprising his role as Kevin Wendell Crumb and the multiple identities who reside within, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, the only captive to survive an encounter with The Beast. Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men. Yes, it's as grandiose as it sounds.
So many people hurt... so much internet dumbness... and at the core of it all is a grossly adapted book that could have been decent if it was done by Hulu or Shudder. Maybe even Blumhouse! But instead we got (drumroll) Netflix. The streaming service brought a different post-apocalyptic thriller film, directed by Susanne Bier from a screenplay written by Eric Heisserer, and based on the 2014 novel of the same name.
When a mysterious force decimates the population, only one thing is certain -- if you see it, you die. The survivors must now avoid coming face to face with an entity that takes the form of their worst fears. Searching for hope and a new beginning, a woman and her children embark on a dangerous journey through the woods and down a river to find the one place that may offer sanctuary. You wanna learn a hard lesson about false pride? Watch season 1 of Future Man, get all hopeful and inspired, then IMMEDIATELY watch season 2. Not just a bummer and a half, but a HUGE slap in the face to what was one of the most entertaining stories of the past couple of years. This one made Pat cry a little inside.

Derrick and Pat, both consummate racing fans and aficianados of destruction smash head-first into Mantis Burn Racing and it's Battle Cars DLC. Mantis Burn Racing is a combat racer in the spirit of RC Pro-Am. The Battle Cars DLC adds an element of 'Arch Rivals' to it! TO anyone unfamiliar with these old-school games, that means all sportsmanship goes out the window and the emphasis is now to make everyone else your bitch. Get mad, fight dirty, and talk $#!T... strategically! Mantis Burn Racing is a top-down racing game combining real-world physics with intuitive controls in ‘one-more-go’ style races. The game has it's high points and low points, like needing relatively low-end hardware (due to being a top-down racer). On the other hand, the menus and text screens seem to last forever, and reloading is noticably long. We had a lot to say about this one. Check it out
Tokyo 42 SOUNDED like an amazing game, and LOOKED like someone rebooted Blade Runner using only matches and LSD. Naturally this made us curious as hell to play it, but only Jonny drew the short straw to get a taste. He had a lot to say about it. Tokyo 42 is an action video game developed by SMAC Games and published by Mode 7, released in May 2017 for PS4, Xbone and Steam. It's a hyper-stylized isometric open-world shooter with a plot ripped form some frankensteined hodgepodge of 80s/90s action schlock - "Framed for a murder you didn't commit, you'll delve into a world of assassins, deadly corporate intrigue and cats. Explore this beautifully hand-crafted micro Tokyo and discover its secrets." Sadly JCVD did not make an appearance, but we were still jazzed to check this one out
Turns out Pat's the only Dr.Who fan in the house! That's not a negative on the crew, but rather it's telling of the intended audience of this series, which is blatantly targeted at Whovians and few else. Pat was refreshed to see this different take on the spy thriller genre. Jonny couldn't contain himself about this one. We're not really sure he even TRIED to! Forge your own path in Hollow Knight! Pat enjoyed this story or rockstars meeting rednecks in an alternate take on Earth. They don't put up with the singer's push for Women's rights over abortion. Assaulted during a show, she takes refuge at her agent's home, that of Fourmille Gratule. The latter will accompany Soledad and her group in an animated tour, which will take them south to New Orleans and the truth...

MX. Macabre, Pat, and (kinda) Adam got to check out the DC animated series Justice League Action. Being fans of the prior animated efforts from DC, they were anticipating either good things or tragic, childhood-ruining catastrophe. Truthfuly it could have gone either way! The series features the adventures of rotating members of the Justice League as they fight various supervillains and other threats to Earth. Including members of both the magic and cosmic realms, this series takes a widespread and personal approach than it's predecessors.
Marvels announcement of following up their "Spiderverse" story with a "Venomverse" sparks a discussion about expanded universes and crossovers. At some point we dissect the suck-job that Scooby-Doo eventually became. I don't know HOW that came up...
JM and Pat took an excursion through the Hellboy universe with Lobster Johnson:The Pirates Ghost. This bit pf parallel fiction sets a side character into the forefront with surprisingly unscrupulous heroes and gritty action with a noir feel. The New York Harbor Patrol are in over their heads when a ghostly pirate ship appears on the Hudson River, and the Lobster’s hunt for a major mob boss may have something to do with it. A missing reporter might be connected to the ship and Lobster's search comes to an explosive battle on deck!
Despite obnoxious and repetitive load times, Jonny had really positive things to say about this game that we almost didn't get! Regalia: Of Men And Monarchs is a tactical RPG set in a cheerful fantasy world full of weirdness and wonder. Assemble your party, go adventuring, manage your kingdom, make new friends, and defeat your opponents in challenging turn-based combat. Will you defeat all the rats, bandits, monsters, and debt collectors ? Or will your ruined kingdom fall into an even WORSE ruin? If you fail it will be the world’s first ruined ruin. Like a double-decker ruining, deserving of ridicule from lesser ruins, aka the ULTIMATE insult!

We all grew up with Baywatch, but only Pat was game to see the new motion Picture Starring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Zac Efron. His reaction actually took the whole crew by surprise. It's the story of Matt Brody, a former Olympic swimmer who wants to join an elite team of lifeguards led by the hulking Mitch Buchannon. Brody thinks he's a shoo-in, but his casual attitude starts to instantly rub Mitch the wrong way. When drugs and a shady resort owner pose a threat to the bay, Mitch and Matt must put their differences aside to spring into action and save the day.
During a discussion about Baywatch we manage to stop gushing over Dwayne Johnson for a few minutes and actually get into a serious (semi-serious) debate about the ridiculousness of the body-shaping routines actors put themselves through and the consequences to the image they present. We were all fans of Sir Roger George Moore, the knighted English actor. His passing effected us all and here we remember him and some of his work. Moore is best known for having played secret agent James Bond in seven feature films from 1973 to 1985. He also played Simon Templar in the television series The Saint from 1962 to 1969.

Garth Ennis shows he's still alive and kicking out there somewhere with his new run series 'Jimmy's Bastards' and we got our hands on it first! Adam and Pat give their thoughts on this super-spy thriller with more humor than most of Ennis' work and sensibilities firmly planted in a 12-year old mind set. Somehow it came together and the shock-value made this book really appealing. Jimmy Regent, Britain’s number one super-spy, has got it all: intrigue, adventure, a license to shoot whoever he likes and beautiful women falling at his feet. He also has a new partner who isn’t quite as impressed by Jimmy as all other women appear to be. Now, there’s a price to pay for Jimmy’s multiple romantic conquests!

In a monumental Money in the Bank PPV, six of SmackDown LIVE's best, Baron Corbin, US Champion Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Dolph Ziggler, battled tooth-and-nail to capture a contract for a future WWE Title Match. Plus, the first-ever Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match ended in controversy and The Modern-Day Maharaja went to war with The Viper in a vicious WWE Title showdown.
The Tupac Shakur biodrama All Eyez on Me was a big hit in box offices. Pat was one of the first to catch it and starts a review that spirals into nostalgia for classic hiphop, reminiscing about good and bad rap-centric movies, and in general this era and how Tupac's music helped shape it. All Eyez On Me promises the true and untold story of prolific rapper, actor, poet and activist Tupac Shakur (Demetrius Shipp Jr.), from his early days in New York to his status as one of the world's most recognized and influential voices. Against all odds, Shakur's raw talent, powerful lyrics and revolutionary mindset establish him as a cultural icon whose legacy continues to grow long after his death.
Jonny gives us a taste of the new (old) iteration of Street Fighter for the Nintendo Switch. Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers is an updated version of the 1991 fighting game Street Fighter II: The World Warrior. Gameplay is based on the Super Street Fighter II Turbo iteration of Street Fighter II, however Ultra Street Fighter II introduces new mechanics like grapple breaks and re-tunes some aspects of the game's balance. Combo timing has also been adjusted from the original games, along with new gameplay mechanics and modes with minor changes being made to the game's balance.
JM pushes the lines of "unsportsmanlike conduct" in this report of WWE's Backlash. In the midst of all-out anarchy at WWE Backlash, The Maharaja conquered Randy Orton to capture his first WWE Championship. Plus, the United States Championship Match between Kevin Owens and AJ Styles ended in controversy. Not only that, but the shenanigans carried on to backstage as well with theft, camouflage, subterfuge, and other ridiculousness.

Mobb Deep founding member Prodigy has passed away from complications caused by sickle cell anemia. The great-great-grandson of Morehouse College founder William Jefferson White, Prodigy (born Albert Johnson) founded Mobb Deep with his friend Kejuan Muchita (aka Havoc) when they were both freshman at Manhattan's High School of Art and Design. Mobb Deep broke into hip-hop with a raw, vicious distillation of East Coast gangsta rap. The duo released their first demo together in 1992 under the name Poetical Prophets, which they followed up a year later with their Mobb Deep debut, Juvenile Hell. After a slow start with their first efforts, Mobb Deep's sophomore album "The Infamous" offically started them on the path to become one of the most legendary and (unironically) infamous Hiphop sets. Along with his music, Prodigy would go on to write several books: My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep's Prodigy, H.N.I.C: An Infamous Novella, Commissary Kitchen: My Infamous Prison Cookbook, and The State vs. Albert "Prodigy" Johnson. On June 20, 2017, it was reported that Prodigy had died in Las Vegas, Nevada, after having been hospitalized a few days earlier for complications related to his sickle-cell anemia. He was performing in the Art of Rap Tour in Las Vegas when he was hospitalized. The exact cause of his death is yet to be determined. He was 42 years old.
Daniel Day-Lewis, arguably one of the greatest actors of our time, announced that he would be retiring from acting. Day-Lewis shifted between theatre and film for most of the early 1980s before appearing in the 1984 film The Bounty and becoming a known name. Reportedly his final acting role will be "Phantom Thread," set in the London fashion industry in the 1950s, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.

Arms is a fighting game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. Elite fighting superstars share one thing in common: extendable arms! Equip super-powered ARMS to create a slew of combinations. Then use motion or button controls to dish out strategic beatdowns in 1-on-1, or 2-on-2 battles.
Adam and Pat got to peep the Netflix original film War Machine starring Brad Pitt. Having a long-standing appreciation of the attention to detail Pitt plays in his starring roles this one did not disappoint. They talk about the intricacies of the plot, their thoughts on the acting, and give a succinct appraisal of the film as both a light political dramedy and introspective character study. War Machine is a 2017 American satirical war film directed and written by David Michôd based on the nonfiction book The Operators by Michael Hastings. It's a fictionalized version of the events in the book based on United States Army General Stanley McChrystal. When a successful, charismatic four-star general, Glenn McMahon, is tasked with winning an unpopular war, he takes the challenge head-on, not knowing that hubris may be his own worst enemy.

Long time fans of Marvel comics and especially the unkillable antihero assassin, Deadpool, we were both excited and freaking terrified to learn this book was written and illustrated by Rob Liefeld. Excited because he's one of the original creators of the merc-with-a-mouth, and terrified because he's notoriously lauded as one of the worst influences on comics in comics history. The take on this book, however, was surprisingly different and left both JM and Pat a bit slack-jawed and dumbstruck! Deadpool's made a lot of enemies. We were all huge fans of Chris Cornell's music. Here we take a few minutes to talk about our history with his music and the influence it had on us from humerous stories of discovering new music to fascilitating our acceptance as black rock and metal fans. Cornell is considered one of the most poignant and infuential musicians, singers, and songwriters of his time. One of the chief architects of the 1990s grunge movement. He was best known as the lead vocalist for the rock bands Soundgarden and Audioslave. Cornell was found dead in his Detroit hotel room on May 18, 2017, shortly after performing at a Soundgarden concert the night before. The cause was later found to be the result of suicide. He was 52 years old. We do our best to give a respectful sendoff to someone who meant so much to us.
Hardcore comic fans Pat and Mx Macabre got neck deep into Justice League Dark. Having different preferences to story/hero/villain type, they were both able to agree that DC's animated films continue to do it right. This was a solid story with some hardcore fight scenes and interesting use of established characters. Also the accuracy of the players stood out more than expected. Batman forms Justice League Dark, a new team of dark arts specialists that is led by John Constantine. Supernatural beings like Zatanna, Deadman and the demon Etrigan are on the job with a little help from their friends. The team must unravel the mystery of a magic plague infecting innocent people and contend with the rising, powerful villainous forces behind the siege.
Is Brad Pitt the man to finally end the war in Afghanistan? We’ll for danged sure find out with the Netflix original War Machine. We had a round of beatdowns and shit-talkng before the show playing Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers on Nintendo Switch. Now we give our impressions (and a little more shit-talking). Jonny got to check out Alien: Covenant. While there, they meet David (Michael Fassbender), the synthetic survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. The mysterious world soon turns dark and dangerous when a hostile alien life-form forces the crew into a deadly fight for survival. Amongst several Alien fans and apparently a couple of Prometheus apologists, he gives us the lowdown.

From battle rhymes of crowd-favorite Dumbfoundead to the tongue-in-cheek songs of Awkwafina, the unapologetic visuals of Rekstizzy to conflicted values of Lyricks, the film paints a memorable portrait of artistic passion in the face of an unsung struggle. Sharing dynamic live performance footage and revealing interviews, these artists make the most skeptical critics into believers. And we can't hate (most of us, anyway), this review turned into a hip hop love fest as the whole thing sparked up nostalgia for Derrick, Billy, and Pat. Jonny had a different opinion, however. After being blown away a couple years ago by the first Guardians movie, we were less enthused about this follow-up. Don't get me wrong, it was fun and enjoyable. But you know how sometimes you can FEEL that something was designed by committee? This felt like one of those, and Pat, Adam, and Derrick give insight into why. The story:Peter Quill and his fellow Guardians are hired by a powerful alien race, the Sovereign, to protect their precious batteries from invaders. When it is discovered that Rocket has stolen the items they were sent to guard, the Sovereign dispatch their armada to search for vengeance. As the Guardians try to escape, the mystery of Peter's parentage is revealed.

Save for one or two suspect matches, WWE Payback 2017 was ultimately unexpectedly entertaining. WWE did a good job of leaving fans wanting more for the next night's Raw, and the Smackdown versus Raw rivalry going strong. A couple of changeovers, a heel-turn or two, and even a ship-jump kept the pace. Was this enough to win over the tough audience of proper wrestling fans, however? JM gives the full report.
Ja Rule’s Luxury Fyre Music Festival turned into one of the biggest concert debaccles so far this decade. The Fyre Festival, a high-end multi-day music event in the Bahamas that promised an experience "fit for a king or queen" has been the subject of regular ridicule after leaving guests stranded in the Bahamas, with multiple reports about the entire event being chaos and a scam. Attendees described the festival as a "nightmare," with flight delays, unsavory dining options and generally awful organization. On top of that, it cost them thousands of dollars and didn't NEARLY live up to the claims. We go in hard and deep on this one

Youtube's Restricted Mode is intended to shield children from objectionable material, like sex, drug use, and graphic violence. Unfortunately it also restricted hundreds of thousands of innocuous LGBT-related videos. The company came under fire when queer YouTubers complained that their family-friendly videos were being blocked, including content like wedding videos that had no mention of sex. Further investigation found that the filters seemed geared specifically to LGBT content, but specifically hetero content was spared. After countless complaints, the Google-owned company released a blog post saying the issue has been resolved. We discuss to possible causes of such errors and the ramifications of continued attempts to filter out content belonging to individuals or groups based on certain attributes like gender, gender identity, political viewpoints, race, religion or sexual orientation.

We were all fans of noted writer, actor, comedian, TV & radio personality Charlie Murphy, who passed away from Leukemia quite unexpectedly. Murphy was best known as a writer and cast member of Chappelle's Show, and a story-telling standup popular for his tales of friendships with outlandish celebrities. We recount some of our favorite moments and how his work was an inspiration as someone who found success fairly late into his career.

A game we previously delved into at PAX, Pat and Jonny got to deep dive and fully experience 'Slime-San", the super gross and tough as nails platformer where you play as an animated ball of slime working your way through a giant worms intestinal tract. For Pat, this brought bad memories of old Ren&Stimpy games that went out of their way to prove they hated children. For Jonny, it carried happier thoughts of playing Super Meat Boy, dying repeatedly and cursing to the heavens. Despite the two points of view on the matter, both really enjoyed the game. What made it stand out? And should YOU spend your money to be grossed out and frustrated, too?

And Ghost in the Shell brings us poorly shot amazing visuals, legendary actors in sub-par roles, and unanimously derided questionable casting — there’s something for EVERYBODY!
It was a special event loaded with emotion topped off with the final match and retirement of one of the greatest of the greats. Thirteen matches were contested at the event, including three on the pre-show. Among the highlights: Brock Lesnar's rampage over Goldberg, The Hardys' triumphant return to WWE, John Cena & Nikki Bella's engagement, and the aforementioned legend himself - The Undertaker's last-ever WrestleMania match.

This one hurt a bit. ...Okay, a LOT. Much controversy has plagued the 2017 live-action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell. Anime fans and critics alike condemned the production for casting Caucasian actors in historically Asian roles. Pat chose to view the film from a purely objective point of view, hoping that behind all the yelling about social injustice, whitewashing, and appropriation stood a decent scifi motion picture that would do right by it's original media. So many other adaptations have sucked with a royal fervor... How did this one measure up? In the near future, Major is the first of her kind: a human who is cyber-enhanced to be a perfect soldier devoted to stopping the world's most dangerous criminals. When terrorism reaches a new level that includes the ability to hack into people's minds and control them, Major is uniquely qualified to stop it. As she prepares to face a new enemy, Major discovers that her life was stolen instead of saved. Now, she will stop at nothing to recover her past while punishing those who did this to her.

There was nearly a full-fledged nerd-out here. in the midst of which came (eventually) a fair assessment of 2017's Power Rangers, and how it compares to the television show it's based on. Five ordinary teens must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove - and the world - is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it's too late, band together as the Power Rangers. Is the adaptation faithful? Was it deserving of the claims of white-washing? Could we have a new film franchise in the works? Hmm...
Somewhere Godzilla's climbing into a hole marked "John Malkavich." Colossal was actually a departure for Anne Hathaway, who normally plays likable characters, and Jason Sudekis, who normally plays NOT abusive douchebags. Pat got to check this pseudo-kaiju-battle-royale episode of Dr. Phil. As confusing as that statement is, it's somewhat apropos here. The plot: Gloria (Anne Hathaway) drinks too hard and parties too much. Her boyfriend has enough of it and throws her out. Gloria returns to her hometown, dreaming of making a new start, but instead revives her childhood friendship with Oscar (Jason Sudeikis), who runs a bar. After drinking a night away with Oscar and his friends, he wakes up to discover a gigantic monster rampaging through Seoul and realizes that somehow the monster is connected to her.
GameStop announced recently that it would close nearly 200 stores worldwide following an abysmal holiday season. To many of us it's a relic of the past, and that's probably what brought the company to this state. They saw a 16 percent drop in store profits and a 14 percent drop in overall sales primarily to competitors Walmart and online retailers. This marks a trend of consumers turning from brick-and-mortar retail stores to the digital marketplace. On top of that, sales booms of the Nintendo Switch a necessity in the console market. Then of course there's the mutual schadenfreude we all get from sharing horror stories from times we felt ripped off by the store. Hoping an expansion of its collectible-centric locations will compensate (Gamestop is shoring up 35 of it's existing 86 locations), can it be enough to recoup the lost sales to Steam, and Playstation Online and the Xbox marketplace? We discuss in detail whether or not this might mean game over for GameStop.
The members of the band Schooltree came to drop some knowledge about their original rock opera and double album Heterotopia, coming in 2017. Heterotopia refers to social or cultural spaces of otherness; worlds within worlds that connect with the rest of space in ways that simultaneously reflect, distort, and change it. Heterotopia the rock opera imagines our collective unconscious (referred to as “otherspace”) literally as such a space – a place both real and unreal, physical and mental, a liminal ancestral repository of symbols and archetypes where an initiation of self can take place.

Pat got to peep the new 5th and final Samurai Jack season. It's safe to say minds were blown. After being sent into the future by evil wizard Aku, young samurai Jack makes a quest to return to the past and undo the destruction caused by the wizard. Along the way Jack enlists allies to defeat some of Aku's henchmen and other villains before getting to the top dog to defeat him and find the portal that can return Jack to his own time. The final season of the animated series follows Jack on a journey that will finally complete his story.
Pat and Adam took a gander at Disney's live-action Beauty & the Beast. Having grown up with the animated film and various other versions respectively, they give an idea of who might get the most out of this nearly note-for-note remake. Belle (Emma Watson), a bright, beautiful and independent young woman, is taken prisoner by a beast (Dan Stevens) in its castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle's enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the beast's hideous exterior, allowing her to recognize the kind heart and soul of the true prince that hides on the inside.
Derrick and Jonny spent several hours/days of quality time away from their friends and families playing the new Legend of Zelda. They also haven't stopped raving about how much they enjoyed it, how they can't wait to get back to it, how they'd be playing NOW if they didn't have to work or eat, etc etc. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is an action-adventure video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U video game consoles. It is the 19th release in the main The Legend of Zelda series and one of the flagship titles on the Nintendo Switch. We go in to give an unbiased, gush-free reaction

Pax has always been one of our favorite conventions, as it usually presents the best of the best with the worst of the worst. While there was WAY too much this year to properly digest it all, there’s plenty to praise and roast alike. The Geek Down rode in full force for PAX 2017, scoping out the big boys and the indies on site.
Pat had good things to say about this horror comic, with the caveat that you're really INTO horror comics. Lord Baltimore is missing. The Red King—evil incarnate—is taking over the world. Baltimore’s team has been driven apart, with some of them dying on the front-lines while others are in hiding. Since the day he set out for revenge on the vampire who killed his family, Baltimore’s fight has gotten bigger than he’d ever imagined, but what role will he take as evil finally threatens to consume the world? This story took him back to those days as an angsty teenager just looking for everything to burn, and for that it's a recommend.
Pat had mostly good things to say about this pseudo-sequel to the 1930's classic. Grant and Dafne Keen, the film follows a past-his-prime Logan (no longer the Wolverine) embarking on a road trip across America for one final mission. In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan's attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

Youtube celebrity PewDiePie comes under fire for supposedly racist comments. Felix Kjellberg, aka PewDiePie came under a backlash recently about the content of some of his videos possibly being racist and anti-semitic. A recent Wall Street Journal investigation into his YouTube channel found a total of nine videos posted since August 2016 that featured Nazi imagery or anti-Semitic humor. As a result of the Journal’s investigation, PewDiePie has lost partnerships (most notably with the Disney-owned Maker Studios) and accrued negative press. It's also spawned a tidal wave of support from other internet celebs, and a new arguement about pushing the envelope.
Pat had a refreshed reaction to DC's "Super Sons." The sons of Batman and Superman have graduated to their own monthly comic. But if they want to survive, they’re going to have to share it. Looking at the lives of Robin and Superboy and their destiny to follow in their fathers’ footsteps, while we meet a new villain whose ascension parallels the boys’ own understanding of their powers - except that his comes with a murderous superiority complex. Where many comics get WAAAAY into the dark realm as of late, SUper Sons seems to be keeping it lighter and more 'general audience' friendly. Appropriately vivid artwork and an entertaining, relatively fast paced story make this one worth checking out.

A mix of films messaging about tolerance, empathy, and kindness to whimsical pseudo-musicals, the spectrum was fully covered. Showing a vast improvement over the previous year, Katsucon returns to the ranks as one of our favorite conventions. Struggles with panel management and event coordinataion hung a dark cloud over the convention going in, and it was touch and go for a bit as to whether they could bounce back. Thankfully someone in the organization was paying attention, as this years Katsucon delivered a solid and downright fun as hell experience. Traditionally held in February over Presidents Day weekend, Katsucon is a Japanese pop-culture convention that takes place every year in Washington, DC.
Jonny got to feel out the supernatural technological genre-crossing hodge-podge of a game, Ghost 1.0. While it sounds convoluted, being a conglomeration of multiple styles might actually be the thing that makes it worth playing. "Ghost" is a metroidvania where two super hackers hire a mysterious agent in order to infiltrate the Nakamura Space Station and steal the greatest electronic secret ever. And the station defends itself, fighting infiltrators with extreme prejudice! Heavy defenses, never-ending arsenal of weapons, and mysterious artifacts are forthcoming. It will all have to be destroyed. Bonus: Spread throughout the game are hidden "geekies". If you find one and activate it, something related to that geekie will change in the game (not affecting gameplay)... and the challenge is to find out what changes.

'Dear White People' sparks calls for Netflix boycott. With the announcement that Netflix is set to stream the TV adaptation of the 2014 film Dear White People, some people have cancelled their subscription in protest. Set in a predominantly white Ivy League college, the 10-episode adaptation focuses on a series of racially insensitive parties that spark tensions on campus and inspire one of the characters to become more direct in her critiques of the school's white student population. On Twitter, Tim Treadstone, a former Buzzfeed writer and outspoken member of the alt-right Twitter mob, argued that Dear White People was promoting "white genocide" and encouraged his followers to cancel their Netflix subscriptions in protest

The death of Namco founder Masaya Nakamura brings us memories of Pac Man and childhood woes
Masaya Nakamura, the "Father of Pac-Man" has died at 91. Nakamura founded Namco (now Bandai Namco) in 1955. It started out as just two mechanical horse rides on a department store rooftop but went on to pioneer game arcades and amusement parks. Pac-Man went on sale in 1980, and became a huge hit notable for being non-violent but just challenging enough to hook players in for hours. Nakamura reportedly chose the word "Pac," or "pakku" in Japanese, to represent the sound of the Pac-Man munching its prey. Nakamura was a key player in Bandai Namco's global growth with other game series' like the driving simulator "Ridge Racer." His pet saying was that his company delivered varied and total entertainment. He took pride in having fun and games for his job. The company reported Nakamura's death but would not comment on its cause or other personal details, citing his family's wishes.
Vizio to pay $2.2 million for tracking your shows. Vizio is the latest TV maker to come under fire for tracking the viewing habits of its customers. A feature that was turned on by default on more than 10 million Vizio smart TVs could track what you were watching and then share the data with advertisers. Similar to programs have been seen in the past from Samsung and LG. Specifically demographic information such as sex, age, income, marital status, household size, education level, home ownership and household value they would then sell to third parties for targeted advertising and other uses. Charged for unfair, deceptive and intrusive practices, the US Federal Trade Commission said Vizio has agreed to pay $2.2 million to settle charges.

JM gives a disapproving report on the 2017 Royal Rumble. Apparently more was done to maintain a status quo than to advance wrestlers and storylines. Eight matches were contested at the event, including three on the pre-show. The event saw Randy Orton win the titular Royal Rumble match in the main event by last eliminating Roman Reigns, making him the seventh multiple Rumble winner. Also, John Cena defeated AJ Styles in the penultimate match to capture his record thirteenth WWE Championship and his sixteenth overall world championship, tying Ric Flair's record.

We remember one of our original crushes - Mary Tyler Moore, beloved TV actress, icon, and pioneer, has passed away at 80. Best known as one of tv's most beloved wives, Laura Petrie on The Dick Van Dyke Show, she was a groundbreaking actress and producer who broke barriers portraying single, 30-something women in the working world when there were few represented, and a passionate advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. On January 25th, aspiration pneumonia, hypoxia (lack of oxygen to the tissues) also contributed to Moore’s death after a decades-long battle with diabetes mellitus.
Sir John Hurt, two-time Oscar nominated star of the Elephant Man, Harry Potter, and Alien, passes away. Hurt was an acclaimed character actor and voice man whose career spanned six decades. Over the years different generations would identify him across different roles and genre's; ranging from films like 'Nineteen Eighty-Four,' and 'Midnight Express,' TV like 'The Naked Civil Servant,' and 'Doctor Who,' and even his voice in 'V for Vendetta,' and 'The Lord of the Rings.' On Wednesday, January 25th Hurt passed away at his home in Norfolk after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 77.

We TRIED to keep a straight face... Founder of WorldStarHipHop dies at San Diego massage parlor. Lee O’Denat (aka Q), founded WorldStar in 2005 and made the site into a more curated form of YouTube, centering on music, police videos, and most infamously - clips of fights and public sex. On January 23rd, he was at a business identified by police as a massage parlor — when he became unresponsive. Paramedics arrived but later pronounced him dead, from a combination of heart disease and obesity.

Most famously known as Bob Morton in Paul Verhoeven’s original RoboCop, Ferrer had along and versatile career in film and television. The oldest child of singer Rosemary Clooney and actor Jose Ferrer, Miguel toured as a drummer for Bing Crosby and Keith Moon before transitioning to acting in the 1980s. Modern audiences might recognize him from Iron Man 3, Crossing Jordan and Desperate Housewives. He was a regular on NCIS: Los Angeles and lent his voice to several Disney and WB projects. Along with RoboCop Ferrer most famously played FBI agent Albert Rosenfield on Twin Peaks, even reprising his role in the upcoming revival on Showtime. He leaves behind a legacy of over 100 roles in film and television.

Known for his high-flying top rope action, Snuka is regarded as one of the original Superstars that vaulted professional wrestling from a standard sport to it's own entity. In recent years, Snuka's health took a turn for the worse. He suffered from stomach cancer, and an Alzheimer's-like neurodegenerative disease called chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE. Just 12 days after a Lehigh County, judge dropped third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter charges against him in the 1983 death of his ex-girlfriend, Nancy Argentino, Snuka passed away due to complications from Dementia. He was 73 years of age.

Chris Brown & Soulja Boy agree to a sanctioned, in-ring fight. What started as simply as liking an Instagram pic has erupted into the biggest music-industry beef since Drake vs. Meek Mill. Brown's ex-girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, posted a racy picture which Soulja Boy enthusiastically liked. Brown allegedly threatened him because of this, kicking off a days-long social media war which also dragged in Tran herself, Floyd Mayweather, 50 Cent, the city of Compton, and a regional sect of the Bloods gang. With the situation already WAY out of control, Mayweather's involvement brought it from arbitrary threats to a sanctioned, promoted boxing match. With Mayweather training Soulja Boy, and Brown (now backed by 50 Cent) being trained by Mike Tyson, they're looking to settle it one way or another in the ring.
Darryl McDaniels, DMC of pioneering hip-hop group RUN-DMC, filed a trademark lawsuit against Amazon, Walmart, Jet.com, and their business partners for selling illegitimate Run-DMC merchandise, including shirts, patches, wallets, hats and glasses. Amazon itself has filed a lawsuit in Washington against sellers of allegedly counterfeit products on its own platform [in a related story, Apple said that around 90 percent of "genuine" Apple products being sold on Amazon were fake in a separate lawsuit]. According to McDaniels, "The products sold by the Defendants confuse the public as to the source of the products and suggests that RUN-DMC endorses the products," the lawsuit complaint alleges. "The Defendants are trading on the goodwill of [RUN-DMC]."

CNN being called out for showing Bethesda's Fallout game computer terminal in a video about the Russian election hacking. In a recent investigative report video, CNN used footage from the videogame Fallout’s hacking mini-game as B-roll to illustrate reports of recent, real-life hacks committed by the Russian government. The footage occurs while the presenter discusses President-elect Trump’s reaction to Moscow’s alleged involvement in what the White House has called “Significant Malicious Cyber-Enabled Activities.” In an age where the hot-button issues include the dis-reputability of "fake news,"the worry is these events will discredit the cause at hand. (This isn't the first time similar material has been used and subsequently called out: Several years back, a report by the BBC used the UNSC symbol from Halo while talking about the United Nations. Child soldiers from the Metal Gear games have been used in news stories about actual child soldiers.)
We honor Carrie Frances Fisher, the American actress, writer and humorist. She first became known for playing Princess Leia in the Star Wars film series. She was the daughter of actress Debbie Reynolds and singer Eddie Fisher, had her Broadway debut at 15, and made her first appearance on film in Hal Ashby’s 1975 comedy "Shampoo," opposite Warren Beatty and Goldie Hawn. She'd later become a household name in the 1977 debut of George Lucas' Star Wars. While traveling to promote the release of her latest book, "The Princess Diarist," a memoir of her time shooting the Star Wars films, Fisher went into cardiac arrest mid-flight and was given cpr until the plane landed. Fisher suffered a massive heart attack and was pronounced dead after a short stay in the hospital. She was 60 years old.

Fans will remember Thicke from his role as Jason Seaver, the father on the ABC television series Growing Pains, The majority of his success came from producing what would become some of his era's most popular sitcoms, including "Diff'rent Strokes" and "The Facts of Life." Niantic is making changes Pokemon Go, hoping to bring back some of the millions of users who no longer play regularly. After a 96% since it's history-making release last summer, game publisher Niantic has added promotional elements and plans gameplay tweaks, frequent player rewards, events that make it easier for higher level users to advance, as well as new features such as more creatures, trading, and perhaps, eventually, player vs. player mode. Much of their business has shifted to pokemon-RELATED products (mostly based on the initial hype of GO itself) but that could change if the app drops off entirely.
The director announced in a facebook video, "Respectfully, I'm out." Smith was developing a tv reboot of the series for MGM. After recently discovering that the company had filed suit against the creators of the original film, director W.D. Richter and writer Earl Mac Rauch (who are against the show), he decided to walk. There's been a lengthy dispute between the creators who assert that MGM only bought rights to make the original film, and MGM, which claims ownership saying Richter and Rauch were only on the original film on a work for hire basis. MGM is asking the court to declare that it owns the copyrights, that Richter and Rauch can’t prevent a new TV series from being made, and that they’re barred from asserting any ownership rights. While speaking very positively about both Amazon and MGM, Smith stated “The only reason I love Buckaroo Banzai is because of those two guys. I wanted to involve them…. I don’t want to make anything unless those dudes are involved…. I’m not that guy.” the project is in limbo for now

They grew up in Central Point, a small town in Virginia that was more integrated than surrounding areas in the American South. Yet it was the state of Virginia, where they were making their home and starting a family, that first jailed and then banished them. Richard and Mildred relocated with their children to the inner city of Washington, D.C., but the family ultimately tries to find a way back to Virginia.

'Breakfast Club' actor Anthony Michael Hall is facing 7 years for delivering a neighborly beatdown. Allegedly Hall shoved a neighbor to the ground and broke his wrist during an altercation. The neighbor obtained a temporary restraining order against Hall after the incident but did not seek a permanent injunction, according to court records. The neighbor alleges that he and the actor have had several run-ins in their gated community in the past.

One of America's true moms, a television icon that spanned generations. Florence Henderson, who played Carol Brady on "The Brady Bunch," passed away of heart failure at the age of 82. The 10th child of a tobacco sharecropper of Irish descent, Florence was a 19-year-old drama student in New York when she landed a one-line role in the play Wish You Were Here. Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II were so impressed they made her the female lead in "Oklahoma!." As her TV career blossomed with The Brady Bunch, Henderson also made frequent TV guest appearances, becoming the first woman to host The Tonight Show for the vacationing Johnny Carson. In later years she made guest appearances on such shows as Roseanne, Ally McBeal and The King of Queens. We give a fond farewell and discuss some of her influence on the industry and ourselves.

"March: Book 3" becomes the first ever comic book to win a US National Book Award. Known as "the Oscars of literature," the National Book Awards is to celebrate the best of American literature, to expand its audience, and to enhance the cultural value of great writing in America. March: Book 3 is the latest volume of an autobiographical series that recounts Congressman John Lewis' life during the Civil Rights Movement in 1960s America. Congressman Lewis from Georgia, helped organize the 1963 March on Washington, at which the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. gave his “I Have a Dream” speech. The book accounts the March's evens from Lewis' point of view, and is now a Trilogy of Lewis' stories surrounding the movement. Co-writer Andrew Aydin, who originally pitched the idea, expressed an ideal take-away from the award, "Let the prejudice against comic books be buried once and for all.”
The cast of Broadway show "Hamilton" deliver a message to Vice President-elect Mike Pence. Abridged, it went “We are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us ... we truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us..." Since the event the backlash from GOP supporters has been overwhelming. Twitter responses fell into two camps: Those who cheered the cast for voicing their concerns so directly and those who found the exchange inappropriate. Loudest was President-elect Donald Trump, who said that the cast members had “harassed” Pence with “cameras blazing” and demanded they apologize. “The Theater must always be a safe and special place,” Ironically the one seemingly LEAST upset is the VP-elect himself. Seattle Seahawks linebacker Cassius Marsh appeals to Twitter for his stolen Magic: the Gathering cards. The athletes collection was in a backpack that was stolen from his car wile his girlfriend borrowed it to go clubbing. Marsh offered a reward of two tickets to the next Seattle Seahawks home game if the cards were returned. “Other than god, family and football, my Magic collection is everything,” he said in another tweet. Word of the situation reached Wizards of the Coast’s Magic headquarters, which sent a care package for Marsh with a message, "Worth noting lots of the product in that care package came from the personal collection of WotC employees who wanted to help out too!” WOTC tweeted that they “will also be donating a gift of equivalent retail value to a Seattle-based children’s charity.” The 24-year-old Marsh told the Seattle Times that he has been playing Magic since he was 11, and estimates his collection to be worth between $20,000 and $25,000. “It’s not even the money,” Marsh told the Times, “I really enjoy playing the game. Jonny gives the second round review of 'Batman: The Telltale Series,' the episodic point-and-click graphic adventure game from Telltale Games. You take the role of Batman, both as the superhero and as his alter ego Bruce Wayne. The game features a branching narrative, giving the player options in each situation and having that choice affect later events in the game, and action sequences that are resolved using quick time events.

Acord-Whiting criticized Olsen after he was a guest on her LA Talk Radio show, “Two Chicks Talkin’ Politics.” During the show, Olsen made comments such as being a liberal and a patriot are mutually exclusive; Hillary is causing the protests & hate crimes; the Koran is a political tract; etc. that offended Acord-Whiting. After the show, he took to Facebook to accuse Olsen of spreading "outrageous misinformation." writing, "It is wildly irresponsible for LA Talk Radio to allow a Trump fanatic to co-host one of their programs... John Glenn, the first American to orbit the Earth - a freckle-faced son of Ohio who was hailed as a national hero and a symbol of the space age, has died at 95. In 1959, the "Mercury Seven" group of military test pilots selected to be the first astronauts. Then in 1962, he flew the 'Friendship 7' mission and became the first American to orbit the Earth. Glenn was the last surviving member of the original Mercury crew. He would later have a long political career in the United States Senate, and made history again in 1998, flying aboard the shuttle Discovery and becoming the oldest person in space at age 77. We remember Senator Glenn not just for his service, but as an inspiration to all fields of space science over the years.
Charlotte McDuffie, the wife of legendary comics writer Dwayne McDuffie wants to ensure his legacy. Dwayne McDuffie was an American comic and tv writer, known for creating the animated series Static Shock, writing and producing the animated shows Justice League Unlimited and Ben 10, and co-founding the pioneering minority-owned-and-operated company Milestone Media. He passed in 2011 and several awards and foundations have since come about under his name. His widow Charlotte has launched a crowdfunding campaign on GoFundMe to start "The Dwayne McDuffie Fund." Rather than promote an initiative or person, the Fund's purpose would be to supplement costs to maintain the OTHER initiatives in McDuffie's name, allowing them to self-sustain. Twitter announces it’s shutting down Vine, after also announcing a big round of layoffs. The company has struggled due to the perception that it’s a haven for harassers and trolls, along with its failure to get acquired by companies like Disney, Google, and Salesforce when it tried to sell itself and laying off 9 percent of its staff. While some content will still be available for users, Twitter is officially ending Vine.

Fantagraphics Books and creator Matt Furie have released a statement condemning the appropriation of the character by racist fringe groups. Pepe the Frog, originally appearing in Furie’s "Boy’s Club comics" as a mild-mannered stoner, eventually became a popular meme expressing sad, smug and angry reactions across 4chan, Reddit, Imgur, Tumblr, and other social media sites. In the past year Pepe had been claimed and meme'd by white supremacist groups to joking spread their propaganda, and from there picked up steam with other groups as well. Now the original creators are speaking out. Fantagraphics and Furie reject the association of the character with racism. They are urging fans and others to "block, report, and denounce the illegal uses of the character by individuals and groups pirating him to foment hatred."

Steve Dillon, legendary comic-book artist and co-creator, passed away at 54. He was known for a deeply expressive, often humorous style and considered a master of his craft by colleagues. Born in London in 1962, he started working in comics at age 16 for Marvel UK - the British imprint of Marvel Comics. While the event being promoted as having a "Triple Main Event" was seen as confusing, the cage matches were received mostly well. WWE finally allowed the female wrestlers to close-out a pay-per-view in the Women's Championship Match. Charlotte and Sasha Banks made history by being the first two women to compete inside Hell in a Cell, The New Day (Big E and Xavier Woods) defended the Raw Tag Team Championship against Cesaro and Sheamus, T.J. Perkins defended the Cruiser-weight Championship against Brian Kendrick, and the Reigns-Rusev match was a solid opener. JM gives the proper play-by-play including tap-outs, DQs, and contrived turns that fell flat.

Wizard World Inc. filed suit against former Chief Marketing Officer Steve Shamus. The lawsuit alleges that Shamus, in his role for the company, diverted autographed products from talent he contracted to appear at the company’s shows and sold them, accruing over $1 million in misappropriated assets. Supposedly Shamus used outlets owned by members of his extended family to move the goods. In a 2-week span: the company’s stock dropped 18%, Shamus presented a (possibly forged) from his brother Gareb (the former Wizard CEO) demanding back-pay, a third Shamus brother, Kenny Shamus, resigned from the board of directors, Steve diverted contact to his attorney and (allegedly) attempted to delete all of his company emails. Wizard, which lost $4.3 million last year and is cutting back shows, is suing to recover “all compensation, salary, commissions, and bonuses paid to Shamus."

In a recent interview with the Washington Post, while out promoting Hacksaw Ridge, Gibson criticized other Hollywood films for the way they present what was described as “violence without conscience”. While calling out Marvel’s films in particular, Gibson went on with remarks aimed toward the climactic battles of many comic book films, which often show widespread destruction and, presumably, the loss of countless lives, all as part of a thrilling action sequence. Acknowledging the violence in his own catalog (namely Braveheart, Payback, Lethal Weapon, Apocalypto, The Expendables, Passion of the Christ, and the latest Hacksaw Ridge), Gibson's main point is the characters don't answer for the destruction.
The Boston Circus Guild is a collaborative-based membership organization of circus performers, musicians, artists, dancers, and event producers from the American North East. They oversee the creation and running of original theatrical circus productions, entertainment booking for events, and maintenance of responsible financial, safety, and artistic conditions facilitating a society where artists work together for their collective benefit. Matt Damon fell under accusations in the press about his western hero in the film "the Great Wall," based on teaser trailers, falling into an offensive “white savior” or “mighty whitey” stereotype. This at a time when tensions regarding such things are WAY HIGH in the general media. Damon addressed the concern frankly and passionately, and we in turn discuss his reaction and whether or not it should be scrutinized more heavily or taken with a chill pill and grain of salt.
Luke Cage, also known as Power Man, is a superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and one of the latest characters spotlit in a Netflix show. Given superstrength and durability by a sabotaged experiment, the wrongly accused man escapes prison to bring stability to Harlem and eventually become a hero for hire. That's the proper premise, at least. While the Netflix show takes liberties for it's own purposes, the story has been pretty true to the comic character's canon. Pat, JM, Jonny, and special guest Mike Lewis from "the Vienna Pitch" do their best to give a spoiler-free review of the first season, why fans should or should not check the show out, and the likelihood we'll see Luke Cage in further Marvel properties or films.

‘The Revenant’ Pirate Escapes Jail, But not a $1.2M penalty for illegal uploading. Six months after pleading guilty to copyright infringement for uploading screeners of "The Revenant" and "The Peanuts Movie" online, former studio employee William Kyle Morarity was sentenced to pay $1.2m in restitution and 8-months house arrest. Morarity uploaded the movie to a BitTorrent site called "Pass the Popcorn" which was under FBI survailance. In lieu of hard time, a very big financial burden and home arrest were deemed the best consequences by the court – and a warning to others. In addition, Morarity also helped the feds put together a PSA on the pitfalls and consequences of piracy. A remake of one of the original badass westerns, "Magnificent 7" is the tale of greedy industrialist Bartholomew Bogue seizing control of Rose Creek and being a sadistic A-hole to it's people. With their lives in jeopardy, Emma Cullen and other desperate residents turn to bounty hunter Sam Chisolm (Denzel Washington) for help. Chisolm recruits as many hardcore gunslingers as he can find to take on Bogue and his ruthless henchmen. With a deadly showdown on the horizon, these seven mercenaries soon find themselves fighting for more than just money once the bullets start flying. Pat and JM gave two perspectives on this one, as one is a longtime fan of westerns and the other is new to them

In the aftermath of the battle with the Engineers, the surviving humans on LV-223 are wounded and scattered—and easy prey for a gathering horde of Aliens! Unapologetically a gauntlet of gore, 'Aliens: Life & Death' strips away a lot of what made the Aliens franchise great - that tiny sliver of hope that the humans might persevere. It's not naive to think it's the suspense that made these stories worthwhile rather than the rapid, imminent slaughter of humans but unfortunately that's what we're given here. Pat dig in on why he feels let down as a fan.
BOOM Studios has partnered with WWE to produce new wrestling comics based on WWE's characters and storylines. Each of these comics will explore that wrestler’s background and history in the ring. Previous WWE/F comics have come from Valiant, Image, Chaos, Titan, Papercutz and others featuring unrealistic sensationalized stories. BOOM promises more grounded stories and as wrestling fans this both terrifies ans excites us. We talk about our hopes for the comics and remember the weird places they've been in the past.

JM gives the info on wwe backlash wherein the inaugural SmackDown Women's Champion involving Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss, Carmella, Naomi, Natalya and Nikki Bella. Bliss was eliminated by Naomi after a Diving Neckbreaker/Powerbomb combination with Natalya. Natalya then eliminated Naomi by forcing her to submit to the Sharpshooter. Bella eliminated Natalya after a Fireman's Carry Cutter but was immedately rolled up for a pinfall by Carmella. Lynch then applied the Dis-arm-her, forcing Carmella to submit, and won the title. The Usos (Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso) faced down The Hype Bros (Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder), qualifiying The Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship tournament final against Heath Slater and Rhyno. Apple's being heavily criticized as it’s new GIF keyboard keeps pulling up sexy My Little Ponies and hardcore porn. When Apple released iOS 10 to the public, it introduced a new iMessage app with the built-in ability to search GIFs. It has also received negative press due to it's shoddy filters repeatedly returning My Little Pony porn and live-action fellatio. The GIF system works by doing an image search of popular animated image databases, but failed to realize that simply blocking words like "boobs" and "penis" wouldn't be enough to prevent the majority of available porn even WITH safesearch activated. Apple has since banned more obtuse, less directly "porny" terms such as "butt" and "huge" and alleges they'll practice more nuanced filtering of its GIF library.
20th Century Fox and the American Film Institute launch an initiative to encourage more female directors in Hollywood. They will provide alumnae of the AFI Conservatory Directing Workshop for Women the opportunity to direct short films based on the studio’s film franchises. An animator and voice actor, Clay Martin Croker is best known for having provided the voices of Zorak and Moltar on the animated series Space Ghost Coast to Coast, replacing Don Messick, who originally voiced the characters in the 1960s series Space Ghost. One of the original animators for Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, he helped make the network what it is today. Croker served as an animator for Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and its 2007 feature film adaption Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters. Fans will know him as the voices of Dr. Weird and Steve. Croker abruptly died in his home. We recount how his work effected us and talk about some of our favorite pieces.

A collection of six tales set throughout the Star Trek galaxy, each by a different creative team and featuring a different Star Trek alien race. Stories of the Gorn, Vulcans, Andorians, Orions, the Borg, and Romulans along with guest-stars such as Captains Kirk and Pike, and Mr. Spock. Having a couple of hardcore Trekkie's on this show just served to degrade it into a 3-minute geekout.

The festival celebrates independent game development in New England and neighboring regions.
