Tonight I am honored to bring you Robin Ladue, whose book "Totems of September" I recently enjoyed thoroughly. Painting with threads of different families lives, she uses the loom of 9/11 to intertwine and tell a broader story of survival, loss and redemption.
Dr. Robin Ladue is a retired clinical psychologist formerly in private practice in Washington. She received her Master's and Doctorate degrees from Washington State University. She has been affiliated with the University of Missouri, Kansas City and with the University of Washington Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the Native American Center of Excellence. She is the award winning author of the "Journey Through the Healing Circle" books and video. Dr. LaDue has lectured worldwide on the effects of prenatal exposure and historical trauma in Native American communities as well as the consequences of and treatment for psychological trauma, including traditional Native methods of treatment. She has recently published her first historical novel, Totems of September. She is an enrolled member of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe of Washington.
We will be discussing her book, the struggle for justice for Native Americans and her ground breaking work in the field of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome children.

Tonight I have the honor of speaking to the family of Michael Nida II's family. His Sister, Terri Thaxton Teramura and Mother Jean Thaxton will be joining us. Michael was on a date with his wife, Naily, and was profiled by police for crossing the street from a gas station to stop in at a tobacco shop for cigarettes. They frisked him, then bullied him, and frightened him. He was unarmed. When he ran? They shot him 5 times in the back. No charges were brought on his murderer, Officer Gilly. These brave ladies, other friends and family have created Nida's Rydas to protest the endemic violence by the police, up to and including murdering citizens. It will be a heart rending show.

It been a week of seeming wins, losses and conflicting emotions this news cycle. One thing is for certain - other than the Militarized Surveillance State, precedents are being set to de-centralize your government. In other words, we have lost the Civil War. Let me explain why I think this is the case.... and how inherently racist it is.
Faux Left leadership? We have it. Mistreatment of the lower classes? Absolutely. Police brutality? Epidemic. Counting those who want reform "enemies of the State"? That's us. Class Warfare? They are killing us. Lets take a look at what is happening in Brazil and why it should be happening here...
Spying is nothing new, it pre-dates Bush's overt expansion of it... heck it predates the US to the very first societies of humankind. However, the present Security State with the technology of computer tracking, used on a Nation's own citizenry is unprecedented. Some hoped to rein it in under President Obama, going by the words of Candidate Obama, to no avail. Yet across both sides of the aisle, our Bill Of Rights has been systematically shredded and the Police State encased as law. Enter Edward Snowden. Unlike Assange who USer's could doubt as a "foreigner" or Bradley Manning who triggers the right's Soldier-code impulse, Ed could not be a worse (for them) or better (for us) unifying symbol of how our Government treats us as the enemy. I support all truth tellers and whistleblowers, but Ed may be our game changer. The far-right and the far-left have always objected to the abuse of their powers, yet this young, good looking, honest and articulate young man speaks to the middle in terms they can understand. Sure, the character assassination is on - but the scope and breadth of the surveillance state is now front and center in our National dialogue. Snowden is likeable, one of us - and people are listening! Greenwald and Snowden have become unlikely heroes, a high hard ridge of fast moving truth whipping across our land, that may become a tsunami that washes away the lies from Washington and leaves the air clean and shining in the light of a new day.

Yet for people of color in this country? This has been Normal forever. A series of events in Southern California are going to be protesting the epidemic of Police brutality and murder of unarmed, innocent people of color. The movie "Crimes of Police" is premiering in Stockton tomorrow to set the stage... followed by an Oxnard College "Justice for Our Community" event and be culminating in a Statewide March from Camino del Sol Park. We will be talking to Ernest Duenez Jr.'s sister. Ernest was shot 11 times while trying to exit his truck - his foot was tangled in the seatbelt. He was unarmed. Dionne Smith, the mother of James Rivera - boy of 16 who was shot over 48 times by the Stockton, CA police will also be joining us.
Our own troops are being used against us. We are living in a War Zone, and we are their enemies. They are killing us with immunity. Our lives have no value to them.

Roe v Wade turned 40 on Tuesday. Tonight author, professor and long-time women's rights activist Lorraine Berry joins us to discuss what has become of the Women's Movement, feminism itself, in the year 2013. It is hard to believe how much Women's autonomy over their own bodies has degraded in the ensuing years since 1973. State by State, contraception is harder to come by, and abortions almost impossible to receive. It is a valuable asset for those fully engaged in Class War against us, to be sure that we females, as half the population are tied to the need to provide for copious offspring, that we will work as many degrading jobs as it takes to feed our young ~ while they cut the safety nets for those mothers and children to nothing. In the meantime, we are supposed to celebrate that women from the United States can participate in combat. Irony drips: They call women murderers for wanting to control their own eggs, yet celebrate that we can now go into combat and kill ACTUAL people. The mind boggles.
Inauguration day is just days away. Its time to do a fact check on our President's positions, versus what he ran on, and see what he did 180's on, and on which things he has always been a neo-con. The room between his and Bush's policies could not be breached with a micro-filament. Lets take a report card, gander shall we? Not just in his 1st term, but what he has done already in his 2nd term. While you were judging his mother, every 2 minutes a woman is raped in this country. And while we were debating every last bit of the above to dust, because nothing strikes fear into the heart of America like white children being killed? Legislation is being passed to make the at risk, poor children, old people and the mentally ill who rely on Social Security and Medicare poorer. Most of all, we really refuse to discuss the Class War, which is primarily racist that is being waged in this country to support the Rich who are waging flat-out war on the rest of the world in an all-out grab for what is left of its resources.
When Michigan, the very core of Union activity in the United States, gets swallowed by "Right to Work" legislation crammed through without committee or debate in a lame duck session? Greed of the few is using labor as worthless human chattel. When a Hero does his duty to uphold the Constitution and reports in whatever way he safely could, illegal and immoral activities and is tortured for it, as Bradley Manning has been, and the Nation's Press does not bother to report about it? Your rights in such truth telling are long gone. You are no longer free. When even Democrats vote for reducing food stamps and cutting Social Security, which does not add to the debt, in an economy already making people suffer badly? You know life as we know it is over, and we are considered useless eaters no longer worthy of even sustenance. When in light of this austerity we are sending warships to Syria, adding to our 7, 8, god knows how many arenas of war, in an epic spending spree on colonialism? Human lives abroad are nothing to the pursuit of more power. Our own Government has become the bane of her Citizens, and the World. And like Kane, started from nothing, and in our greed lost everything, and killed the only happiness we could have had.....

Staten Island languished ignored, while the moneyed Burroughs got the cameras. Politicians used every angle for personal gain, vying for the top spot on the polls, like dancers on the pole.... while ice melts on our poles. I cannot tell you how much I wish I could skip this broadcast. Its depressing as hell. But? It is my last chance to try and move people to do the right thing. To vote for the community of life, respect ecological balance, social and economic justice and an end to war and a movement toward world peace... Please join me - tell everyone you know. Vote Green. Tonight, two women on the front lines protecting Michigan from the ecological disaster that is fracking join me to talk about the realities of the dangers at hand. The passage of the NDAA language allowing indefinite detention of any US citizen, without charge or trial, is possibly the most dangerous legislation ever passed to date. As a child I was told of Nations that would imprison their journalists, jail protestors, and curtail free speech. I was told of far off dangerous lands, where people were held without cause or shot on sight where Cabal in Power kept their people down. I was told we fought to keep America FREE from these evils, only to grow old and find all of these being codified into law by NDAA, the Jobs Act and Prolongued Detention in the year 2012.

Continuing my ongoing series discussing the current Protests with Veterans of the 60's movement, I am happy to bring a local Detroit man to the conversation. Meet Nick Medvecky. Nick will bring a whole new layer to the discussion - for he was himself framed and imprisoned on a false drug charge with a sentence of 25 years. His real crime, was messing with the wrong FBI informant. The real focus, years and years of COINTELPRO interest in him. Not only is his tale a cautionary tale for activists, with the degree he earned while under arrest, and his experience as a journalist and photographer, he now is using his voice to explain what our Prison Industrial System truly is. His blog, American Tribune chronicles those experiences. Nick Medvecky is basically a New York City boy who went into the military back in 1959, became a civil rights activist in the Old South where he was rewarded with a stint on a chain-gang. In 1965 he adopted Detroit, Michigan, as his home. There's little in the way of progressive and left movements, and international travel that his wasn't active in. Following a career in journalism and criminal defense investigations, Nick eventually fell afoul of one too many gov't agencies. In 1990 he was convicted of cocaine conspiracy and served a total of 22 yrs in the federal prison system. Today, as Dr. Publico with a doctorate in psychology, he publishes a blog entitled AmericanTribune.org. Nick has a unique perspective on "class crime."
When the controversy broke about then Senator Obama having known Bill Ayers, my first thought was "cool, maybe his is one of us. Since then, it is Obama that has disappointed, not Professor Ayers.
My discussion with him will strive to contemplate, contrast and compare the social movement of the 60's and 70's with what is happening now. I think he can, as someone who has been fully immersed in the former shed light on the latter.
Great effort has been taken to marginalize, even demonize and true socialist with any chance of influencing the dialogue in this country. While active in the advancement of progressive education, that that alone is considered too "radical" for the "educational industry" speaks volumes about how far right we have been pushed as a Nation.
Today, this nation is under a far more militant resistance against OWS activists than the anti-war activists of the SDS and WU were... I wonder, how will it survive?

Bill Ayers is an American elementary education theorist and a former leader in the movement that opposed U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. He is known for his 1960s activism as well as his current work in education reform, curriculum, and instruction. In 1969 he co-founded the Weather Underground. He is a retired professor in the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, formerly holding the titles of Distinguished Professor of Education and Senior University Scholar.
Tonight, I again have the pleasure of interviewing one of my most treasured mentors, Ward Churchill. In the 6 months since we last spoke, things have changed dramatically - Chickens are coming home to roost here in the form of OWS, and the tactics being used to stop this Democratic Movement are escalating. Occupy Wall Street is again our topic tonight, as I assume it will be for a very long time as long as the Independent Journalists are still able to report freely. Two very important questions remain. The first is about how it will fail - for the odds are stacked very highly against the Populace saving themselves from a deeply entrenched and now global Oligarchy. Will it be through violence, being co-opted, being handed austerity and thrown a few bones? Or will they create violence and blame the resistance in order to turn the population against the Occupation, rewarding little Orwellian finger-pointers? The second is about how it will succeed - for against all odds, we are the many and we could easily regain power if the will to do so is true. Is highly regulated capitalism what we must settle for, perhaps isolationist America-first selfishness, or will we truly break free into sane socialism? These are the days we have been waiting for my friends. It has begun.

Tonight I have the honor of interviewing Bruce A. Dixon co-founder of the wonderful (and wildly left) Black Agenda Report. A habitual troublemaker and incorrigible activist, Bruce Dixon has been comforting the afflicted and afflicting the comfortable since 1968. As a rank and file member of the Black Panther Party in 1969-1970, a 1970s rank-and-file union activist in a string of factories, plants and workplaces, a 1980s community organizer in what were then some of the nation's poorest neighborhoods, to organizing and consulting through the 1990s Dixon has built an impressive record of service in and to the cause of human liberation. In 2002 he began writing articles for Black Commentator, the predecessor of this publication, and broke the first accurate analyses of the phenomena around the election of Denise Majette over Cynthia McKinney in Georgia that year. As managing editor at BAR Dixon is chiefly responsible for maintaining this web site. He currently resides in metro Atlanta. Bruce graciously allowed me to reprint his latest essay questioning the LOTE, lesser of the two evils with Barack Obama as perhaps the more effective evil. Our conversation continues from last week, expanding on the already collapsed Empire of the United States and our options for facing the fallout of that fact. We are going to talk about the basic break with reality that is pervasive in the American mentality, and frame it in both the converse reaction to the health care debate and the utter lack of response to the economic crisis. The class war has already been played out, and the people lost.
So what remains is how to deal with reality, and if Americans can ever break free of the veil and see that reality. What remains is what we envision next. Fight, flight or f**ktitude?

There is poison in everything around us, and they are using as a Guinea Pigs for untested shots so the Playah's can make their money, money that is our taxes, shots that may maim or kill us... but of course they have immunity. Kind of like the Pigs in Washington who sent them to VietNam.
You may not be fully aware, little froggies, but the boil is on, the mass graves are at the ready, and you are...In Country. If you aren't convinced yet, this hour will convince you.
