We finish the series “Leading with” on the subject of Love. We have looked at the themes of hope, peace and joy have seen the importance of them to the success of the team. However, through each conversation we were reminded that it must begin with the individual leader’s commitment to these practices and their place in our lives that make it beneficial to our team. During Christmas, we all seem to have about more smiles on our faces and laughter in our hearts. There is a sense of hope and peace in our lives which in turn leads to a joyful attitude. When we are joyful, we are more energetic, focused, and optimistic. We have a sense of positivity in our lives.

This year more people have been getting into the Christmas mood sooner to experience the joy that has been missing much of this year. Joy and optimism are important factors in the foundation of a success organization. When we lead with a sense of joy, we lead with optimism, are more creative, and teams regain the passion for their work.

During this season of Advent, we look at the theme of peace and how we operate as leaders with peace. With internal and external pressures continually impacting our organizations, conflict management is essential. As we approach the end of 2020, we can look back at this year and see that it has been impacted by many things, racial tensions, equity discussions, the COVID pandemic, etc. People seem to have come to the end and are searching for hope and joy in their lives. They have been besieged by concern for work, lack of connection with friends and family, and fear of what the future might hold. This has even permeated the workplace.
