Over the next 9 weeks, we are going to look at what the Bible says about anxiety, finances, singleness and dating, parenting, mental health, friendship, conflict, politics, and work and faith. An impulse we want to have as a church when we face any issue is to ask this question: what does the Bible say about it? In this series, we want to model what that looks like as we dig into what God’s Word says about these topics so that we walk in wisdom and godliness in everyday life. This week, we look at what the Bible says about conflict from James 4:1-6.

Simply put, the Gospel of Mark is about following Jesus. Whether someone is seeking to understand who Jesus is or wanting to grow as a follower of Christ, the Gospel of Mark tackles these issues head-on. Over the next few months, we will work through Mark to seek to answer these two questions: 1) Who is Jesus? and 2) What does it mean to follow Jesus? On Easter Sunday, Pastor Michael, walked through how Jesus tells us about Easter before it happens in Mark 8:31-38. Jesus not only tells us about Easter before it happened, He tells us what it all means by inviting us to follow Him. Whether you've been in church your whole life or are just considering Christianity for the first time, Mark 8:31-38 is the quintessential invitation to all people: you have to die to yourself to find yourself, you have to follow Christ to find life.

God calls us to be a people faithful to gospel doctrine and gospel culture. One without the other leaves us in either the ditch of hypocrisy or fragility. The power of God demonstrates itself in right belief and transformed living. Luke 18 takes us to what fuels gospel culture. In a word, it is humility. Humility fuels gospel culture by allowing us to have a right view of ourselves and of God.

As beautiful as Advent season can be, it often finds us busy and distracted with the commercial season of holiday shopping and party planning. To be sure, the gifts and the parties are not the problem. The problem is that our hearts are drawn to the allure of more things and distracted by the busyness of the season. The solution to our busyness and preoccupation during Advent is to carve out time solely dedicated to treasuring Jesus above all things—to consider the promise of His coming, the wonder of His birth, and the significance of the incarnation alongside the hope and anticipation of His second coming. To help us do that we are going to consider the four themes associated with the Advent wreath–hope, faith, joy, and peace. For the next four Sundays and on Christmas Eve, we will look at these themes in light of Jesus’ first coming and His second coming.

In this six week series entitled, “The Local Church: God’s Plan for His People," we will be looking at what Scripture says about the local church. Both in our culture and with the church today, there is often confusion about what the church is and a temptation to minimize the significance of the church in the life of the Christian. Rather than seeking pragmatic answers or looking at the most recent trend, we want to ask, "What does God say about the church? What is God’s plan for His church?" This week Pastor Michael looks at how Matthew 28:16-20 defines the mission of the church to make disciples of all nations.

The Law is central to understanding the message of the Bible and good news of the gospel. The Law reflects the character of God, reveals our need for the gospel, and points to how the Christian can walk in a manner pleasing to God. However, important questions remain: Is the entire Mosaic Law still binding on Christians today? Are Christians inconsistent in which parts of the Law they apply today? Didn’t Jesus say he “fulfilled” the Law? This sermon series will dig into these important questions and more while also unpacking what the 10 commandments mean for us today. This week, Pastor Michael closes out our Law of God series and help us understand the tenth commandment (do not covet) and how it calls us to pursue our own contentment and our neighbor's good.

What is God’s plan for His church?" This week Pastor Michael helps us to see Jesus' view of the church from Matthew 16:13-20.

In the letter to the Philippians Paul illustrates how Christians who have been transformed by the gospel are to live by giving us more of the gospel. In Philippians 2:1-11, Mike Luginbill helps us understand how we can grow in true humility by looking to Jesus Christ. In this message, Mike helps us answer three questions: 1) What is true humility? 2) Who is Jesus? and 3) What will humility lead to?

The Law is central to understanding the message of the Bible and good news of the gospel. The Law reflects the character of God, reveals our need for the gospel, and points to how the Christian can walk in a manner pleasing to God. However, important questions remain: Is the entire Mosaic Law still binding on Christians today? Are Christians inconsistent in which parts of the Law they apply today? Didn’t Jesus say he “fulfilled” the Law? This sermon series will dig into these important questions and more while also unpacking what the 10 commandments mean for us today. This week, Pastor Michael helps us understand the ninth commandment (do not commit adultery) and how God calls us to be people who know and love the truth while also being people who speak the truth in love.

Prayer is foundational to the Christian life and, yet, many Christians struggle to live prayerful lives. The good news is that we are not left to ourselves to grow in this area of our faith. In fact, Jesus’ disciples once asked, “Lord, teach us to pray.” (Luke 11:2) Over the next six weeks, leading up to Easter, we will look at how Jesus taught us to pray in the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6) and learn from Jesus’ High Priestly Prayer (John 17). This week, Pastor Michael looks at how 2 Thessalonians 3:1-5 helps show us a model of praying for the spread of the gospel.
