One morning in studio I was starting a new song and in my downloads folder I came across the stems of "Never Really Get There" by CRi which I had downloaded for a remix comp.
Fast forward to now and sadly I was too late to get my submission in for the competition but through Instagram CRi heard my remix.
I hope he likes it and I hope you do too!

Welcome to Volume 7 of my Journey mix series! (on time, good boy Vava)
Thank you to my beautiful new girlfriend Taylor for the lovely photo she took which I used as the artwork.
Quite a lot has changed for me in my life since putting out the previous Journey mix.
What started out as a 2 hour mix series which I started 3 years ago has now developed into me launching my own record label: THE JOURNEY RECORDS - https://soundcloud.com/the-journey-records
I couldn't be more proud and excited about what is currently happening musically in my life and I just would like to thank each one of you for being a part of MY Journey.

This was my entry for Lane 8's remix competition of his track "Brightest Lights" the title track from his latest album. The track features the beautiful vocals of POLIÇA.
Update, unfortunately I didn't win but big thanks to Daniel (Lane 8) for the nice feedback - I do appreciate it. I also did receive his personal permission to post my remix on my page.
For my my remix I decided to slow the vocals from 128bpm to 114bpm and transpose the key from A#maj to Gmin. This proved challenging but rewarding.
I tried to keep my remix stripped back, emotional but tried to still maintain enough groove. The synth introduced before the final drop was the finishing piece to my remix and added just what I felt the remix needed.
I tackled the mixing & mastering process on my own and learnt a lot. Quite proud of my final master.

This track I started writing just with my laptop and headphones on a ferry to/from the beautiful island of Santorini in the Greek Isles back in 2013.
I had since lost the project file but I did still have a wave export of the track. I tweaked the audio file a bit, slapped on some mastering plugins and here it is for you to download for free,

As always it's my pleasure to make these 2 hour mixes for you guys. It's always got it's peaks and valleys, always emotional, always uniquely a sound I'm trying to define. It's not everyone's cup of tea but I'm ok with that. I love trying to tell a story with these 2 hours and give YOU the best that my personal music collection has to offer right now.

THE JOURNEY VOL 3 Mixed by: VA-VA
Welcome back to another episode of The Journey mixed by yours truly. A little later than usual (but if you know me, it is to be expected) :p
As always, as the title describes... It's a JOURNEY! Another 2 hours of my finest selection of Emotional Dance Music.
I start the mix off with a little improvised 3 minute session on my Kontrol F1 which I had hooked up to 2 Remix Decks in Traktor. The Kontrol F1 is used to trigger off loops and samples and build your own track live. Those with a good ear will pick up me using the stems from Ikalimba by Ryan Murgatroyd in the second part of the intro.
The artwork this month was completely done by yours truly. I took the image at the summit of the Helderberg Mountain Range in Somerset West, Cape Town.
