DVC made some changes to Moonlight Magic Registration. Are they good or bad? Historically, you could open multiple tabs on multiple devices and browsers. Every tab would enter a virtual queue. When one of your tabs exited the queue, you could enter your member number for validation and register for the event. The strategy worked great for those who knew how to work the system. As of March 2025, the first step is to enter your member number for validation. That member number is assigned a location in the queue. If you open multiple tabs, they will all validate but get the same queue number. There's no longer a benefit to the multiple tabs strategy. Is this change good or bad? Episode 332

In December of 2023, Chad joined Lyn Metler's Families Fly Free program. Today's show is a status update and review after nine months in the program. It takes a while to get signed up for all the cards, get the introduction bonuses, and start booking free travel. I've earned 857,000 points from Chase, American Express, and Capital One in the last nine months. I've worked Lyn's system and added numerous other cards. I've had one free companion pass flight and have three more free flights booked for 2024 and redeemed $650 worth of points on a Disney Cruise downpayment. I've been an overachiever on Lyn's system but am returning to her approach's simplicity. I've almost actualized my $1600 investment in Families Fly Free and have earned $10,000 of free travel points ready to go to work, but your average family that wants to earn free travel without making the point-and-mile game a full-time hobby will be well-suited for Lyn's Program.

While the overall market is slightly down from when it peaked in November 2021 to February 2022, month over month, the unweighted prices were up $8 across all the resorts. Grand Californian owners review the DVC studios, 1-Bedroom, 2-Bedroom, and Grand Villas at the Grand Californian. The studios are fairly typical DVC. The 1 and 2 Bedroom villas have an awesome kitchen with a space-efficient booth-style kitchen table, a third bathroom with a walk-in shower, and the Grand Villas include a billiards table. The general consensus is that the room's decor and design elements are slightly elevated above most DVC rooms; however, the real "star of the show" is the proximity to Disney's California Adventure theme park and a quick walk to Disneyland. Jeff Barnes, Ph.D., also known as "Dr. Disneyland," joins the podcast to discuss Disneyland history circa the 1990s and early 2000s when Disney's California Adventure and the Grand Californian Hotel opened up. Disney wanted to transform Disneyland from a single-day park to a multiple-day destination in Southern California. DCA and Grand Californian were essentially built in the parking lot for Disneyland. After Disney acquired the land for the current Mickey and Friends parking lot, the City of Anaheim paid to have the parking structure built to revitalize the 2-mile area surrounding Disneyland. The city wanted to transform the area into a tourist and convention district. The city used hotel taxes to fund the clean-up efforts. Disney was also considering building a second gate a few miles away in Long Beach. The city successfully kept the second park within its city limits and was able to meet its revenue goals.

April 2022 set a new record high for the number of contracts Disney Vacation Club bought back through the Right of First Refusal process. The ROFR monster was set free and gobbled up 41.61% of the contracts sold in April. Average sales prices saw a decrease of about 3.1% or $6 per point on average. Disney vacations generate some awesome family memories. Dan Klamert shares his DVC membership report and a funny story about the Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream. The lights and the delivery performance were a bit overwhelming at first. This was a new experience for the family and they weren't used to the attention that comes with ordering a Kitchen Sink. One of their retold and fond family memories is how Dan's wife reluctantly agreed to take a photo with the sink as long as it wasn't shared on social media.
