Its more than a ministry. We are a movement of 7-12 students that are chasing, after Jesus. We change the culture. We advance the Kingdom. And, we want you to be a part of it. The KHCYOUTH podcast is a recording of our Wednesday night programming. KHCYOUTH is the student ministry of Koerner Heights Church in Newton, KS.
Revival Week 2 at KHCYOUTH! There is a difference in believing in God as your savior and having belief that He will do what He says He will.
Last week, we talked about what to do and how to react in an upset world. This week we talk about the power of our words, and how to respond when we upset someone else.
On artist Drakes last major album, “Scorpio” one of the hit songs was “I’m Upset.” Have you ever felt like the entire world was upset? Maybe even all at once? We live in a hyper-sensitive society. Everything involves us and everyone is offended. What do we do when someone offends us? How can we respond in a positive way? Is anger sinful?
The election is just one of the many things that has shaken up 2020 for many of us. How should the we respond to people we disagree with? Politicians win or lose based on how people vote. The Church wins or loses based on how well we love each other.
There are those few songs, that when you sing them, you can't hold back the tears. Way Maker is definitely one for me. Through the next few weeks, we're looking at how Jesus is a way maker, a miracle worker, a promise keeper and a light in the darkness.
We all have a natural longing for significance. Purpose. Approval. In order to realize our true significance, we need to realize that we have been stamped with significance by and for a God that loves us.
The finale of our four week series, Wilderness, in Habakkuk 3. We have spent the last few weeks going through the book of Habakkuk. We have heard things that are hard to process. Where is God in the middle of what is happening around me? True intimacy with God comes from learning to praise Him in the Valley. In other words, you can't have a chapter 3 faith without a chapter 1 wondering and a chapter 2 waiting.
The wilderness isn’t fair. Things might not get better. But God won’t give us more than we can handle… right? No, God won’t give you more than HE can handle. Wondering sucks. Waiting is worse. Life unfortunately does not refresh and magically reload. What do we do while we wait? What do we do when we feel like we can’t wait anymore? In chapter one, don’t walk away. In chapter two, don’t quit.
Hallmark Christmas movies are the American icon of what life should look like: perfect. Sometimes, we have a Hallmark version in our minds of what a "good" relationship with Jesus looks like. True intimacy with Jesus comes not from the mountaintop experiences, but learning to know His goodness in the valley. God welcomes our questions, and would rather us wrestle with Him than walk away.
Wilderness - Week 1. COVID-19 has entered us into a world completely different than anything we’ve ever seen. We have a new vocabulary. We do food different; we do gatherings different; we shop different, we even do church different. Some have entered into isolation, depression. Some are left wondering why God seems distant, where we find Him, and how we could take our faith to the next level. We all feel like we have entered the wilderness, a place of fear and isolation. To grow, we have to explore. In this lesson, we want to change the narrative of what the wilderness is.
