Fr. John Kasza
REVEREND MONSIGNOR JOHN KASZA was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Detroit in 1993. He holds a B.A. in History from Wayne State University, Detroit and an Master of Divinity from Sacred Heart Major Seminary. He earned his doctorate in Sacramental Theology from the Pontifical Athenaeum Sant’Anselmo in Rome in 1999. Msgr. Kasza has served as an assistant professor of sacramental theology, liturgy and homiletics at Sacred Heart Major Seminary and has also taught at the Liturgical Institute at St. Mary of the Lake University in Mundelein, Illinois. He most recently served as Secretary to both Adam Cardinal Maida and Archbishop Allen Vigneron and was Vice Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Detroit. In July of 2009, Msgr. Kasza became the Academic Dean at SS. Cyril and Methodius Seminary in Orchard Lake, Michigan. Monsignor then became pastor of St. James the Greater parish in Novi, Michigan and is currently the pastor of St. Therese of Lisieux parish in Shelby Twp., Michigan.
In today's Gospel Jesus was tempted by the devil with three things; bread, power & glory, and presumption. This evening Msg. John gives a quick reflection on these temptations.

Very often we think God only appears to important people, but today’s feast proves God will appear to even those who we least expect.

Today's first song Vergine Tutto Amore was written by Francesco Durante in the 18th century. The second song is Ave Maria which was arraigned by Charles Gounod using a counter point by Johann Sebastian Bach and was composed in the early 18th century.
Following the May Crowning yesterday, Rebecca Roberts sat down and recorded two Marian hymns, Serdeczna Matko and Ave Maria by Schubert. The first is a very well known song among polish descendants and Schubert's version of Ave Maria is one everyone knows.

Managing Grief During the Pandemic
Longtime parishioner and Grief Counselor Heidi Connors-Boccomino took a few minutes to record an episode to help parishioners and friends cope with the loss and grief some are experiencing during the pandemic and in the days and weeks to follow. In these trying times of having to Stay Home and Stay Safe, Heidi will offer some ideas on how to manage grief, fear and anxiety.

The water in today's reading gives life and refreshment and causes things to live, grow and flourish. This is a metaphor for the Word of God.
