"Happy Holidays and joyful New Year!" is a common refrain this time of year. It is a challenge when you don't feel joy and cheer during the holiday seasons. Sometimes it's because loved ones are no longer with us. How do we reconcile our feelings with the messages of joy? Pastor Joel and Pastor Jennifer talk with author, writer, and speaker Tricia Lott Williford about just that.

Tricia discovered pain like no other in a few tragic hours when her thirty-five-year-old husband died unexpectedly a few days before Christmas. Tricia shares in this podcast about her tender, brave journey as a widow with two young boys in the agonizing days and months that followed his death. Tricia is an example that when your life falls apart—through a death, a lost relationship, a diagnosis—you want more than anything to know that your pain has a purpose. And that beyond your pain, a new day awaits.

Tricia shares thoughts from And Life Comes Back, her book that documents the tenacity of love, the exquisite transience of each moment, and the laughter that comes even in loss. This traveler’s guide to finding new life after setbacks offers no easy answers or glib spiritual maxims but instead draws you into your own story and the hope that waits for you even now. We are grateful to Tricia for sharing her hard-won knowledge that can help those who have experienced trauma and offer advice to others who love them and want to help.

"Now I know that every single day, the best and the worst, only lasts for twenty-four hours.” —Tricia Lott Williford, And Life Comes Back

Tricia is originally from Green, Ohio now living in beautiful Colorado.

If you are a part of a 'purple' church that includes a diversity of political opinions you've probably been involved in a book study. When racism rears its ugly head, we study a book. When gender inequality is recognized, we study a book. Should the church be doing more than book studies? Special guests Alan Dicken, from the Christian Church (DOC) in Ohio and Pastor of Carthage Christian Church in Cinncinati, Kevin Poe, Harmony Springs Youth and Justice Intern and Theology/Philosophy Major, and Erica Ewing, IRTF-Cleveland Intern and long time justice advocate join our conversation to give their insight on how the church can advocate for the marginalized and work for justice.

'Here is the church, and here is the steeple...' the children's nursery rhyme goes. What happens when a church doesn't have a steeple?

Harmony Springs Gives Voice debut episode is all about that very question. Pastor Joel hosts fellow podcasters Jennifer, Greg, and Liz in a discussion of the pros and cons of being a church without a building like Harmony Springs has been for a decade.
