What is 7minutes.net? 7minutes.net is a blog, covering a range of topics about people and community, and largely from a Christian world view.
7minutes is divided into three areas:
The 7minute Blog is about life; how we see each other and communicate, how we behave, on our own and in community. It’s about social trends. It’s not psychology or anthropology since those things are best left to experts. It’s just based on observation, experience, and word of mouth.
The 7minute Audio is based on Christian truths, and is in audio format because these are mostly taken from local radio broadcasts I have made with RefreshFM over the past 3 years or so. As a Christian podcast it tries to deal with matters of faith, ethics, and scripture (the Bible).
The third area, the 7minute Stumble contains pieces from other websites, acknowledging their sources of course. These are well written articles and blogs dealing with similar subject matter, and which pass the “7minutes test”… life and truth in bite-sized chunks.
7minutes.net is short.
The overriding aim behind 7minutes is to give you the visitor something to think about, something to challenge, maybe amuse, refresh, or inspire, but to do this in a few minutes, bite-sized chunks. Everything on this site is designed to be read or listened to in a few minutes; on average, 7.

Words we speak, words we type, both can cause untold damage - you can tame a tiger but you cant tame the tongue says James
Why do bad things happen? There are several theological answers to this age old question - and they tend to raise even more questions about the nature of God, this world, and suffering. But here's a question you may never have asked: what if we lived in a world with no suffering - no struggle at all?
"Everyone wants to be nice to me - but no-one wants to be my friend" … This line was reportedly from a homeless person who regularly turned up at a church soup kitchen. Do we sometimes discriminate against a person based on how they look or speak - while "being nice" to them at the same time? I think it's hard not to ...
3 minute interview. Do you find it hard to deal with conflicts, arguments, disputes at home, at work, and especially in church? Based on a series of blogs on www.7minutes.net
Do you have a servant heart? Do people see that when they look at you? Could they in fact see Jesus in you? It's not far-fetched, in fact for many people the only impression they have of Christ is not the church, not the Bible, but you.
what is the Christian Hope? And why is it only a "hope". Hoping that something good might happen, hoping there might be a God doesn’t feel good does it?
What is it about work? Work should have a good place in our lives as should career and drive - but so often it can rob us of peace. Sometimes we are even unsure what "peace" actually is. .... So what IS peace?
It’s all very well saying “don’t be afraid”, but what if we ARE afraid? We know “there’s no point in worrying” but this simple logic, doesn’t help. Take a 5minute break, remind yourself HOW to “not be afraid”.
The stupid carpenter who built his house on the sandy beach - a story of Jesus from Matthew 7
God is not fair - and we have the right to ask why.
If we asked God today to please give us everything we deserve – what would that look like? I think it could be a very dangerous prayer!
God has a history of making people wait ….. but why?

Jesus explains the importance of being great.
In God’s economy things are not so much turned upside down as the right way round. And greatness starts to make sense. So go and be different – be great – be truly great!

A joined-up Christmas-Easter story of a God who comes to us once, and again, and then again. A God who, at the central moment of history … dies, but then, in keeping with his character, returns… yet again.
What do you hope for?

Failures and setbacks can obscure hope, failures can disappoint us, and life can seem without hope. But God has been to the those very places of no hope and he has created, resurrected, something new.

What do you listen for?
Some people say that God doesn’t speak to us any more – but actually, it depends what you’re listening for.

“No eye has seen; no ear has heard; no mind has imagined…”
http://7minutes.net/audio/no-eye-has-seen/
How could anyone ever imagine the sky, the sea, the hills, if they had never been born…. ? How could anyone imagine what God has prepared for those who love him?

Fear is a recurring theme in the Bible. But when God says “don’t be afraid” he always follows it up with the reason why.
