What a fantastic time we had sitting down with Anthony Sogluizzo (class of 2022). We talked about his family, life lessons from his dad, and Anthony's views on school and life. Apologies in advance for the disruptions and background noise. Danny D was in recording his MiddSouth Sports podcast and we got pushed to the #CRAfTLab which has very little privacy. We hope you enjoy the listen and come back for more interviews with amazing, creative, and innovative students.

Welcome to Episode 5 of the MiddSouth Shines podcast! In this episode we talk with Brett Huish,  class of 2021, about what it's like becoming a pilot. We learned so much talking with him. Enjoy!

This is Episode 4 of the MiddSouth Shines podcast. We have a great conversation with Senior Danny DeCrescenzo aka Danny D: the Voice of the MiddSouth Nation. Danny is the Sports Editor for the school newspaper--The Eagle Eye. He came to me with the idea of doing a podcast for his column to go along with the written piece in the paper so I wanted to sit down with him so he could see what a podcast was like. Enjoy! #middsouthnation #middsouthshines

This is our first interview with a student on our MiddSouth Shines. Last year, we interviewed 2 amazing retiring educators and this year we are expanding it to included students and possibly community members.

This interview is with Fiona Maguire (class of 2021). She is going to discuss Aikido, non-violent communciation, and her quirkly family Thanksgiving tradition. Enjoy!

Donna is one of the last of her kind. She was in the first graduating class of South (she actually spent her first 3 years at Middletown HS because South was still being built) and has been teaching at South for the past 34 years! She has seen it all. Apologies for the background noises. We were in the Gym (where else would you interview a PE teacher?) and they were setting up for a badminton tournament. Thank you Donna for everything you have done for South!

As you will hear in the episode, Don taught for 34 years BEFORE coming to Middletown and is finishing his 14th year at South. If you did your math, that's 48 YEARS!!! I told him this would only take 15 minutes and we ended up talking for over 45 because Don is just such a wonderful person to chat with. The 2 pieces that I took away from this conversation was: 1) the most important part of teaching is building relationships with the students and 2) Be right, be wrong, but be something. This is unedited because I wanted you to hear the number of times students knocked on the door in the hopes of talking with Mr. Cernera one last time. I hope you enjoy.
