Recently she won 2 different categories in the Westminster Dog Show so we had to find out more about this amazing accomplishment. We talk about being a dog handler, the politics of dog shows, her desire to become a breeder, and the ethics of dog breeding. Donna is one of the last of her kind. She was in the first graduating class of South (she actually spent her first 3 years at Middletown HS because South was still being built) and has been teaching at South for the past 34 years! She has seen it all. Apologies for the background noises. We were in the Gym (where else would you interview a PE teacher?) and they were setting up for a badminton tournament. Thank you Donna for everything you have done for South!
As you will hear in the episode, Don taught for 34 years BEFORE coming to Middletown and is finishing his 14th year at South. If you did your math, that's 48 YEARS!!! I told him this would only take 15 minutes and we ended up talking for over 45 because Don is just such a wonderful person to chat with. The 2 pieces that I took away from this conversation was: 1) the most important part of teaching is building relationships with the students and 2) Be right, be wrong, but be something. This is unedited because I wanted you to hear the number of times students knocked on the door in the hopes of talking with Mr. Cernera one last time. I hope you enjoy.

Each author gives their own take on it and draws from their own unique experiences. We also discuss the possibilities of how this massive force could affect society in the future.

This podcast goes through an issue with the freshman at Middletown High School South. The freshman class currently has the largest class in the school and due to this, they have to face repercussions, such as limitations in places like the media center and the weight room in the bubble. In the podcast, we go through how both teachers and students feel about the limitations, and overall, everything about the topic.

The students of the podcast discussed bullying at MHSS. The students wanted to learn how to identify and report bullying at MHSS. The students interviewed Mr. Letson, SAC coordinator and support staff at MHSS regarding their bullying experiences and how to report bullying at South.

Our podcast, “Gen Z’s Mental Health,” focuses on the struggles that our generation faces involving mental health and a surplus of stress. We include interviews with students about their stressors and coping methods. We also spoke with a guidance counselor at Middletown High School South about her perspective on stress in this generation. We offered enlightening comparisons between the ways kids and adults see stress in our generation.
