Did you know that all five of the current initial Governors who've put their state under COVID-19 lock-down, are Democrats? Well, they are. Not, that we care about either one of the political parties, this is just a very interesting fact that we had to share.

As COVID-19 continues to dramatically alter lives, the death toll in the U.S. and the rate of infection have begun to climb at alarming levels, with deaths nearly tripling and infections more than quadrupling since Monday.

There have been over 10,000 new cases of infection reported in the U.S. since Wednesday night.Tax Day has been moved back to July and U.S. students won't have to take annual state tests this year. California, New York, Illinois and Pennsylvania took bold action to slow the spread and in so doing ordered millions to stay in their homes unless absolutely necessary.The U.S. has recorded at least 249 deaths and over 19,285 confirmed cases of infection. Four days ago, those numbers stood at 85 deaths and 4,600 cases.

Worldwide, the death toll has topped 11,200, as Italy saw its biggest one-day increase Friday. There are more than 272,000 confirmed cases around the globe, according to the Johns Hopkins University data dashboard.

Toxic Metals Found in Popular Store Fruit Juices, Study Says!

Consumer Report (CR), tested 45 popular fruit juices sold across the country—including apple, grape, pear, and fruit blends—and found elevated levels of those elements, commonly known as heavy metals, in almost half of them, including juices marketed for children. “In some cases, drinking just 4 ounces a day—or half a cup—is enough to raise concern,” says James Dickerson, Ph.D., CR’s chief scientific officer.

Our test focused on cadmium, lead, mercury, and inorganic arsenic (the type most harmful to health) because they pose some of the greatest risks, and prior research suggests they are common in food and drink.

And Americans, especially the nation’s children, drink a lot of juice. More than 80 percent of parents of children age 3 and younger give their kids fruit juice at least sometimes, according to a recent national Consumer Reports survey of 3,002 parents. In 74 percent of those cases, kids drink juice once a day or more.

Veteran and iconic music producer Quincy Jones, has issued a public apology for recent harsh interview comments, in which he slammed a number of celebrities and artists, including the Beatles.
Speaking to Vulture.com, Mr. Jones called the British band “the worst musicians in the world” and “no-playing motherfuckers,” adding that “Paul McCartney was the worst bass player I'd ever heard. And Ringo Starr, he said don’t even talk about it.” He also criticized U2’s recent albums and put down Michael Jackson and actor Marlon Brando.

Mr. Jones said his children staged a “family intervention” after his interviews. “Let me tell you, I am so grateful for my daughters because they are not afraid to stand up to their daddy,” he tweeted. “I am an imperfect human and I’m not afraid to say it. I’m sorry and I’m not afraid to say it.”

Quincy Delight Jones, Jr. (born March 14, 1933), also known as "Q," is an American record producer, actor, conductor, arranger, composer, musician, television producer, film producer, instrumentalist, magazine founder, entertainment company executive, and humanitarian. The domestic pig originates from the Eurasian wild boar. Scientist have sequenced mitochondrial DNA and nuclear genes from wild and domestic pigs from Asia and Europe. Clear evidence was obtained for domestication to have occurred independently from wild boar subspecies in Europe and Asia. Hernando de Soto is the true "father of the American pork industry." He brought America's first 13 pigs to Tampa Bay, Fla., in 1539. As the herds grew, explorers used the pigs not only for eating as fresh meat but for salt pork and preserved pork.

One of the biggest concerns with eating pork meat is trichinosis or trichinellosis. This is an infection that humans get from eating under-cooked or uncooked pork that contains the larvae of the trichinella worm. In some countries and cultures, they actually consume pork raw!

Pork is the most widely consumed meat in the world. People eat many different pork products, such as bacon, sausage and pork chops. You might grill pork ribs in the summer, or you might enjoy a Christmas ham. A 250 pound market hog yields about 150 pounds of pork. In addition to pork, several valuable products come from swine. These include insulin for the regulation of diabetes, valves for human heart surgery, suede for shoes and clothing, and gelatin for foods and non-food uses. Starting January 1, 2018, it will no longer be a felony in California to knowingly expose a sexual partner to HIV, with the intent of transmitting the virus. Governor; Jerry Brown, signed legislation Friday; October 6th, 2017 that lowers the offense to be a misdemeanor. The California legislature passed SB 239 in September 2017.

The law previously punished people who intentionally exposed or infected others with HIV by up to eight years in prison. The new legislation will lower jail time to a maximum of six months.
The new law will also eliminate the penalty for knowingly donating HIV-infected blood. This action is a felony under current law and will be decriminalized starting in January 2018. Supporters of the change argue the previous law was outdated because all donated blood is tested for HIV.

Major Hurricane Irma will definitely be delivering a destructive blow to Florida this weekend of September 9th-through-the-10th, 2017.

There will be massive damage in Florida. It will be the worst single hurricane to hit Florida since Hurricane Andrew in 1992!

The current track of Irma will bring the most severe impacts to the eastern side of the state, including Miami, West Palm Beach, Melbourne, Daytona Beach and Jacksonville. However, with the forecast track now taking Irma right up the Florida Peninsula, hurricane-force winds will reach western parts of the state as well, including Tampa, Fort Myers and Sarasota. If the track shifts even a little bit to the west, the most severe impacts of the storm would impact western Florida and the lower Keys. Impacts within the projected path of Irma include life-threatening wind, storm surge and flooding rainfall hazards.

By an Executive Order, Pres. Trump lifts ban on military gear for the U.S. Police forces.

The Trump administration during August 22nd through-the 25th, 2017, lifted a controversial ban on the transfer of some surplus military equipment to U.S. police departments. The new plan takes effect immediately and fully rolls back an Obama administration executive order, that blocked armored vehicles, large-caliber weapons, ammunition and other heavy equipment from being re-purposed from foreign battlefields, to America's streets. But the question still remains, why does the U.S. police force require or need military grade gear, weapons, and/or vehicles, to serve and protect the public?

Fake Science Used By State Labs To Prove Crimes!

The Justice Department and FBI have formally acknowledged that nearly every examiner in an elite FBI forensic unit, gave flawed testimony in almost all trials in which they offered evidence against criminal defendants over more than a two-decade period, before 2000.

Of 28 examiners with the FBI Laboratory’s microscopic hair comparison unit, 26 overstated forensic matches in ways that favored prosecutors in more than 95 percent of the 268 trials reviewed so far, according to the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) and the Innocence Project, which are assisting the government with the country’s largest post-conviction review of questioned forensic evidence. The cases include those of 32 defendants sentenced to death.

Wow! There's gonna be a lot of young Doctors, Lawyers, and Ph.Ds (Doctor of Philosophy), and so forth, being arrested... Many of these type people have 10s-of-thousands-of-dollars of debt owed in student loans when they finish their schooling.

The US marshals handcuffed Paul Aker, put him in the back of a truck and placed him in a cell in the federal building in downtown Houston. Later, he was brought to federal court. The prosecuting attorney, he claims, was a collection agency lawyer.

Aker, was forced to pay $5,700 for the loan, including interest, as well as nearly $1,300 to cover the cost of his arrest. He was told that if he did not pay the total amount by March 1, he would be arrested again. He says he was never read his rights during the entire ordeal.

On February 11, 2016, seven US federal marshals with automatic weapons arrested Paul Aker at his home in Houston, Texas over an unpaid $1,500 student loan dating back to 1987. The entire Pacific Coast of the United States, like California, Oregon, Washington (state), Canada, and Mexico, has been officially reported to be contaminated with radioactive particles from the Japanese Fukushima nuclear power plant, which is killing Ocean life in droves. A federal judge in Seattle, Washington on Friday; February 3, 2017, ordered a national halt to enforcement of President Trump’s controversial travel ban on citizens from seven predominantly Muslim nations. The White House vowed to appeal the decision immediately. U.S. District Judge James Robart, ruled Friday afternoon in favor of Washington Attorney General; Bob Ferguson, who sued this week to invalidate key provisions of Trump’s executive order. The judge's temporary restraining order represents a major setback for Trump's action, though the White House said late Friday that it believed the ban to be "lawful and appropriate" and that the U.S. Department of Justice would file an emergency appeal.

As a result of the ruling, the Department of Homeland Security suspended its enforcement of the ban, announcing on Saturday that "standard policy and procedures" were now in effect. "In accordance with the judge's ruling, DHS has suspended any and all actions implementing the affected sections of the Executive Order entitled, "Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States," DHS said in a statement.

"DHS personnel will resume inspection of travelers in accordance with standard policy and procedure," it stated, adding that the Justice Department would file an emergency stay to "defend the president's executive order, which is lawful and appropriate."

Pres. Trump's Executive Order, and ban, completely suspends the United States' Syrian refugee program, which accepted 12,486 Syrians in 2016. It also gives preference to accepting Christian refugees from the Middle East over Muslim refugees. And it reduces the cap on the total number of refugees allowed to enter the US in 2017 from 110,000, to just 50,000. The order itself doesn't name the countries whose citizens are banned from entering the USA. Instead, it refers to a statute which applies to seven Muslim-majority nations. They are Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, Yemen and Iraq, with dual nationals included in the ban.

With this case of Mr. Trump's "Muslim ban", his order bars citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries, as aforementioned, from entering the US for a period of 90 days. It also suspends the United States' refugee system for a period of 120 days. Mr. Trump says his "extreme vetting" system will help "keep radical Islamic terrorists out of the US."

U.S. Presidents' are able to whiled a huge amount of power and control by simply signing into law, an Executive Order. It also appears from our research that a sitting U.S. President can sign into force as many "Executive" laws that they desire, just as long as they are in accordance with the U.S. Constitution, however debatable their reason for the Executive Order might be, with Congress, and/or throughout the U.S.A.

United States presidents issue executive orders to help officers and agencies of the executive branch manage the operations within the federal government itself. Executive orders have the full force of law when they take authority from a legislative power which grants its power directly to the Executive, by the Constitution, or are made pursuant to Acts of Congress, that explicitly delegate to the President some degree of discretionary power.

We breathe in and out anywhere from 15 to 25 times per minute without even thinking about it. When we exercise, our breathing rate goes up -- again, without us thinking about it. We breathe so regularly that it is easy to take our lungs for granted. But, you can't even stop yourself from breathing if you try!

Your lungs are complex organs, but what they do is take a gas that your body needs to get rid of (carbon dioxide) and exchange it for a gas that your body can use (oxygen). The lungs are made of hundreds of thousands of branching tubes that end in tiny air sacs, or alveoli. There are over three hundred million of these tiny sacs in our lungs, offering roughly the surface area of a tennis court to keep up with the respiratory demands of the body.

Our lungs make up a large part of our immune system, to help filter pollutants and infection-causing microbes, and capture them with mucus in the lungs and shuttled upward by tiny cilia for us to cough out or swallow. The lungs are remarkable, and should be cared for. You should know that if you smoke, smoking destroys the cilia that help remove infection and pollutants, which results in clogged airways.

The federal government passed a fiscal milestone on the first business day of fiscal 2017—which was Monday, Oct. 3—when the total federal debt accumulated during the presidency of Barack Obama topped $9,000,000,000,000 for the first time.
On Jan. 20, 2009, when Obama was inaugurated, the total debt of the federal government was $10,626,877,048,913.08, according to data published by the U.S. Treasury.

World's Oldest and Most Complete Christian Bible Found In Remote Monastery. And, it's absolutely well preserved, even for seeing the pictures and reading its words. That is, if the language the Bible contains is understandable to you.

The Orthodox blog Byztex recently posted a UK-based Daily Mail article reporting an amazing discovery. The preservationists have located the earliest known illustrated Bible at the remote Orthodox Garima Monastery, near Adwa in the northern Tigray region at 7,000 feet above sea level. The Garima Gospels (written by Saint Abba Garima) are named after a fifth century monk and have survived virtually intact, despite enemy invasions and a fire in the 1930's, thanks to the diligence of the Orthodox monks.

The United States Electoral College is the institution that elects the President and Vice President of the United States every four years. Citizens of the United States do not directly elect the president or the vice president; instead, these voters directly elect designated intermediaries called "electors," who almost always have pledged to vote for particular presidential and vice presidential candidates (though un-pledged electors are possible) and who are themselves selected according to the particular laws of each state. Electors are apportioned to each of the 50 states as well as to the District of Columbia (also known as Washington, D.C.). The number of electors in each state is equal to the number of members of Congress to which the state is entitled, while the Twenty-third Amendment grants the District of Columbia the same number of electors as the least populous state, currently three. Therefore, there are currently 538 electors, corresponding to the 435 Representatives and 100 Senators, plus the three additional electors from the District of Columbia. Chicago, Illinois report from June 20th and 21st: So far this year, about 1,800 people have been shot across the city and more than 200 of those wounded have died of their wounds, according to records kept by the Chicago Tribune. A total of 306 people have been killed this year by shooting, stabbing or other means, Tribune records show.

Over the course of the year, the Harrison District on the city's West Side has tallied more homicides than any other district in the city, with 37. The Englewood district on the South Side had 36. The Austin District on the West Side, the Gresham District on the South Side and the Deering District on the South and Southwest sides each tallied 24.

What Is a Secret Society?

In this knowledge share, we will concentrate mostly on the origin of secret societies and what lies behind the beliefs and rituals of many of the world’s religions.

In the beginning, this will lead us through seemingly unrelated material, such as electromagnetism and cyclic phenomena, but all will become apparent as we discover that this natural world relates entirely to our belief systems. These belief systems are similar the world over and are the basis of the esoteric side of secret societies. However, we need to understand the language of secret societies and exactly what a secret society is. This is a hotly debated subject and is open to various interpretations, as we shall discover.

There are tales of secret societies throughout history. The first question we have to ask is why they had to remain secret. According to popular belief, it is because those meeting in secret were “men of renown” or “standing” and were plotting to change civilization - whether this be through destroying the Church or the royalty or through defending the same.

According to this popular belief, one of the original secret societies was called the Brotherhood of the Snake (or “dragon” or “serpent”). Although no real historical records of an ancient Brotherhood of the Snake, first mentioned by Madame Blavatsky, is in existence, it is a fact that the rituals and beliefs of this supposed secret organization are similar to many that do exist and are strangely related to the serpent.

In Secrets of the Serpent it's discovered that there had been an ancient and worldwide serpent religion. Merged with solar, lunar, and cosmic belief systems, this ancient faith did, indeed, take on a worldwide aspect, utilizing the serpent on many levels. Eventually, these beliefs crept in to secret cults and societies and became hidden. Almost in every instance these secret societies are playing a religious role - contacting god or the gods in ways that the state religion cannot or will not. This, in itself, gives us a good insight. It is a stark fact that religion or beliefs are excellent ways of drawing in members and utilizing a heightened state in the individual for their own ends - whatever they may be. As with most religions, the members of secret societies are chosen ones, members of the few. A clear example of this is the way that Christians say - without knowing the real meaning of these phrases - that the way is narrow, or that it is easier to pass through the eye of a needle than to enter the kingdom of God.

This, in turn, makes the initiate feel more important when accepted - even though precious few are turned down at the initiate stage. This chosen way is universal, and not just the remit of secret societies or religion. It is also found in normal everyday clubs and organizations where you still have to pass tests that are blatantly measured to allow everybody to enter, but at different levels. The idea of there being different levels then moves the process on and ensures that the new initiate strives to become an adherent or full member by learning the ways of the club or society - and thus the initiate becomes fully engulfed in the world of the society.

Secret societies take this membership a step further by including certain devices within the “knowledge bank” that the initiate must learn. These devices include secret handshakes and words, special days of the year known only to the few, and insights into standard texts. All this, and more, makes the initiate feel ever more important. In all instances, the ultimate enlightenment experience seems to be kept back for the very highest levels of initiation - lower levels of illumination are permitted and used for the lower degrees.

There is also a build-up of comradeship through regular meetings. This allows the member to feel part of a wider family and thus more important. Speak to any serving military personnel and you will find that one of the major factors in the success of their unit is credited to camaraderie. This leads the member down a path into the secret society of such emotional depth that to leave would feel like losing a member of the family. The most ominous sign of possible things to come appeared when President Obama signed executive order 13603 about “National Defense Resources Preparedness.” This 10-page document is a blueprint for a federal takeover of the economy that would dwarf the Obamacare takeover of the health insurance business. Specifically, Obama’s plan involves seizing control of:

“All commodities and products that are capable of being ingested by either human beings or animals”
“All forms of energy”
“All forms of civil transportation”
“All usable water from all sources”
“Health resources – drugs, biological products, medical devices, materials, facilities, health supplies, services and equipment”
"Forced labor" (or “induction” as the executive order delicately refers to military conscription)

Moreover, federal officials would “issue regulations to prioritize and allocate resources.” Each government bureaucracy “shall act as necessary and appropriate.”

To be sure, much of this language has appeared in national security executive orders that previous presidents have issued periodically since the beginning of the Cold War. But more than previous national security executive orders, Obama’s 13603 seems to describe a potentially totalitarian regime obsessed with control over everything. Who Is Really Behind Our Mainstream Media?

Mainstream Media: Mainstream media (MSM) is mass media that influences a large number of people and both reflects and shapes prevailing currents of thought. It may be contrasted with alternative media which may contain content more dissenting thought.

Large news conglomerates, including newspapers and broadcast media, which underwent successive mergers in the U.S. and elsewhere at an increasing rate beginning in the 1990s, are often referenced by the term. This concentration of media ownership has raised concerns of a homogenization of viewpoints presented to news consumers. Consequently, the term mainstream media has been widely used in conversation and the blogosphere, often in oppositional, pejorative, or dismissive senses, in discussion of the mass media and media bias.

According to philosopher Noam Chomsky, media organizations with an elite audience such as CBS News and The New York Times, successful corporations with the assets necessary to engage in original reporting, set the tone for other smaller news organizations which lack resources by creating conversations that cascade down to smaller news organizations using the Associated Press and other means of aggregation. An elite mainstream sets the agenda and smaller organizations parrot it.

The discovery of widespread lead contamination in Washington, D.C. drinking water resulted in a U.S. Congressional investigation that damaged the scientific reputation of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), left thousands of children with lifelong health risks, and led to a re-evaluation of the use of chloramine in public drinking-water systems. Marc Edwards, an expert in plumbing corrosion, discovered lead levels at least '83 times higher' than the accepted safe limit while performing research into premature pipe corrosion for the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (WASA). He found that the decision to change from using chlorine to chloramine as a treatment chemical had caused the spike in lead levels.

After the Washington Post ran a series of front-page articles about Edwards's findings, resulting in widespread public concern, the United States House of Representatives conducted an investigation. The House found that the CDC had made "scientifically indefensible" claims in a report that had indicated there was no risk from the high lead levels.

The Post's investigation uncovered evidence of widespread misreporting of lead levels at water agencies across the United States, leading to regulatory crackdowns and changes in Environmental Protection Agency policies.

The problem was addressed in 2004 by adding additional treatments to the water, preventing the chloramine from dissolving lead in the water mains, solder joints, and fixtures.

In 2010, the CDC reported that 15,000 homes in the Washington, D.C. area might still have water supplies with dangerous levels of lead.

Prince Rogers Nelson...

Famed singer, songwriter and musical innovator Prince was born Prince Rogers Nelson on June 7, 1958, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His parents were John Nelson, a musician whose stage name was Prince Rogers, and Mattie Shaw, a jazz singer who performed with the Prince Rogers Band. He became interested in music at a young age and taught himself how to play the piano, guitar and drums. His parents broke up when he was about 10, and he and his sister split their time between their parents’ homes. He eventually ran away and moved in with neighbors, the Anderson family. In high school, Prince formed his first band Grand Central (later known as Champagne) with André Anderson (who later changed his name to André Cymone) and Morris Day.

In 1978, Prince was signed to Warner Bros. Records. In a 2009 interview with Tavis Smiley, Prince revealed that when he was a child, he suffered from epileptic seizures and that he was teased in school. He told Smiley: “... Early in my career I tried to compensate by being as flashy and as noisy as I could."

May 4th, 2016; President Barack Obama finally traveled to Flint, Michigan, to talk to city leaders and residents about the city's water contamination crisis. He said a "corrosive attitude in our politics" is partly to blame, as he went on to later give, very possibly, the best speech of his Presidency!

Eight-year-old "Little Miss Flint" wrote a letter to President Obama inviting him to the city. She knew it was a long-shot when she wrote to President Barack Obama and asked him to visit her town of Flint, Michigan. But the president accepted the invitation from Mari Copeny (who is more widely known as “Little Miss Flint“), and the President thanked her for the letter in person. Obama's visit to the eastern Michigan city of 100,000 people came three months after he declared a state of emergency to help the city deal with the fallout from a drinking water crisis. In addition to the poisoning from corroding lead pipes, the switch to under-treated water from the Flint River in 2014 is suspected in the deaths of 10 people from Legionnaires' disease.

But Obama reassured Flint residents that the water is safe now — as long as it's properly filtered.

This was a man-made disaster. This was avoidable. This was preventable,"he said." "I do not believe that anybody consciously wanted to hurt the people of flint, and this is not the place to sort out every screw-up that resulted in contaminated water."

He said the good news is that the Americans from all over the country have rallied around Flint, and the federal response is now in full swing. The president promised free water and filters, expanded Medicaid to treat children who may have been exposed, and job training programs.

"I came here to tell you directly that I see you, I hear you, and I want to hear directly from you about how this public health crisis has affected your lives," he said." "I know you’re scared. A lot of you feel let down. I also came here to tell you that I've got your back."

WHO WERE THE FIRST PRESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES?

When we think of the President of the United States, many people do not realize that we are actually referring to presidents elected under the U.S. Constitution. Everybody knows that the first president in that sense was George Washington. But in fact the Articles of Confederation, the predecessor to the Constitution, also called for a president - albeit one with greatly diminished powers. Eight men were appointed to serve one year terms as president under the Articles of Confederation. In November 1781, "John Hanson" became the first President of the United States in Congress Assembled, under the Articles of Confederation.

Don't go checking the encyclopedia for this guy's name — he is one of those great men that are lost to history. If you're extremely lucky, you may actually find a brief mention of his name. (It's in the Encyclopedia Britannica.)

The new country was actually formed on March 1, 1781 with the adoption of The Articles of Confederation.

This document was actually proposed on June 11, 1776, but not agreed upon by Congress until November 15, 1777.

Under the Articles of Confederation, the United States had no executive branch. The President of Congress was a ceremonial position within the Confederation Congress. Although the office required Hanson to deal with correspondence and sign official documents, it wasn't the sort of work that any President of the United States under the Constitution would have done. Hanson didn't really enjoy his job either, and found the work tedious and wished to resign. Unfortunately, the Articles of Confederation hadn't accounted for how succession worked and his departure would have left Congress without a President. So, because he loved his country, and out of a sense of duty, he remained in office.

While there, he served from November 5, 1781 until November 3, 1782, he was able to remove all foreign troops from American lands, as well as their flags. He also introduced the Treasury Department, the first Secretary of War, and the first Foreign Affairs Department. He led the flight to guarantee the statehood of the Western Territories beyond the Appalachian Mountains that had been controlled by some of the original thirteen colonies.

What's probably most interesting is that Hanson is also responsible for establishing Thanksgiving Day as the fourth Thursday in November.

It was no easy task to be the first person in this position as President of Congress. So it's incredible that Hanson was able to accomplish as much as he did. Plus, instead of the four year term that current Presidents serve, Presidents under the Articles of Confederation served only one year. So, accomplishing anything during this short time was a great feat.

Hanson played an important role in the development of United States Constitutional History, one often not stated, but true nonetheless. Often, Hanson is regarded as the "forgotten first President." In Seymour Weyss Smith's biography of him, John Hanson, Our First President, he says that the American Revolution had two primary leaders: George Washington in the military sphere, and John Hanson in politics. Although one position was ceremonial, and the other was more official, there are statues of both men in the United States Capitol in Washington D.C.

John Hanson, from Maryland, died on November 15, 1783 at the age of 62.

A mountain of evidence points to the fact that Michigan’s Gov. Rick Snyder knew that the Flint water supply was having very adverse affect on its citizens, most particularly the beleaguered city’s children. He even knew that children were dying from his administration’s decision not to change the city’s water supply back to the Detroit system, all in the name of saving money, but killing its kids.

Congressman Elijah Cummings, (D-Baltimore), verbally grabbed a hold of Gov. Snyder and tore him to pieces during one of the hearings on the #FlintWaterCrisis.

Snyder admitted he did receive the correspondence and also admitted that he didn't visit Flint for seven months after being made aware that there were problems with the water system and lead levels.

Some officials, including Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, have called on Snyder to resign. Representative Elijah Cummings, a Democrat from Maryland, insisted it was Snyder's administration who chose to switch Flint's water supplies, ignored warnings not to make the change and delayed essential water treatment that could have prevented the problems. Experts believe that the chemical-laced Flint River water corroded lead-bearing pipes, allowing large amounts of the chemical element to leech into the city's water.

Congressman Cummings also mentioned that the Michigan State Attorney General's Office has launched an investigation into the Flint water crisis.

Rep. Cummings was just as fierce in his rebuke of Snyder.

“There will now be an entire generation of children who suffer from brain damage, learning disorders, and many other horrible effects of lead poisoning that were afflicted on them by Gov. Snyder’s administration,” Cummings said.

“I agree that the EPA should have done more,” he continued. “They should have rushed in sooner to rescue the people of Michigan from Governor Snyder’s vindictive administration, and his utter incompetence at every level.”

Gov. Snyder says that he was aware of the water issue in Flint but was assured by aides that it wasn’t severe. He insists the E.P.A was aware since April 2015 of Flint’s decision to switch water sources to the Flint river. Upon returning to Michigan from the hearing, Gov. Snyder said he will not resign and will instead work to resolve the issue.

Developments in historic times, including the printing press, the telephone, and the Internet, have lessened physical barriers to communication and allowed humans to interact freely on a global scale. The steady progress of military technology has brought weapons of ever-increasing destructive power, from clubs to nuclear weapons.

Technology has many effects. It has helped develop more advanced economies (including today's global economy) and has allowed the rise of a leisure class. Many technological processes produce unwanted by-products, known as pollution, and deplete natural resources, to the detriment of Earth's environment. Various implementations of technology influence the values of a society and new technology often raises new ethical questions. The use of the term "technology" has changed significantly over the last 200 years. Technology ("science of craft", "art, skill, cunning of hand") is the collection of techniques, skills, methods and processes used in the production of goods or services or in the accomplishment of objectives, such as scientific investigation. Technology can be the knowledge of techniques, processes, etc. or it can be embedded in machines, computers, devices and factories, which can be operated by individuals without detailed knowledge of the workings of such things.

Examples include the rise of the notion of efficiency in terms of human productivity, a term originally applied only to machines, and the challenge of traditional norms.

Philosophical debates have arisen over the use of technology, with disagreements over whether technology improves the human condition or worsens it. Neo-Luddism, anarcho-primitivism, and similar reactionary movements criticise the pervasiveness of technology in the modern world, arguing that it harms the environment and alienates people; proponents of ideologies such as transhumanism and techno-progressivism view continued technological progress as beneficial to society and the human condition.

Until recently, it was believed that the development of technology was restricted only to human beings, but 21st century scientific studies indicate that other primates and certain dolphin communities have developed simple tools and passed their knowledge to other generations.

Social unrest has been bubbling to the surface of the news all over the country, and all over the world. Earlier this month marked the one-year anniversary of the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri in August 2014.

It happened in Taylor, Michigan over an unexpected shortage of Section 8 housing vouchers in 2013. It happened in New York City over the death of Eric Garner in July 2014. And just this past April it happened right here in Baltimore over the police brutality and subsequent death of Freddie Gray.

The world seems to be becoming a much more dangerous, unsettled place lately, and in these uncertain times, violence born of debt, frustration, and politics could strike at any minute.

In the United States alone, there have been over ten instances of social unrest and rioting in the past two years. But this problem isn’t limited to the good ol’ U.S. of A.

Governor Rick Snyder is the Chief Executive of the state of Michigan, and he is the monster directly responsible for poisoning over 100,000 adults and children, on purpose, in Flint, Michigan, with Lead. Since April 2014, and up until now, the majority of Flint, Michigan residents have been constantly lied to, poisoned, killed, ignored, plus left with a city which is unsafe to live in, where property value has plummeted to zero due to the lead water crisis. Factories and people have been dumping sewage, chemicals, and road salt in the Flint River, the body of water Gov. Rick Snyder decided to use for Flint, Michigan resident's consumption supply, for more than a century!

Lead is a neurotoxin that can poison a child's brain if it is ingested. The effects of lead poisoning are drastic and permanent, and more severe the younger the child. Children that have been lead poisoned suffer from acute learning disabilities; diminished IQ scores; and struggle to stay on grade level as they progress through school. Lead poisoned children are far less likely to graduate from high school, go to college, or get a post-graduate degree than those who aren't. There is absolutely no cure for lead poisoning.

Why are the huge, long standing problems with lead contaminated homes, pipes, plumbing, solder and water systems in New Jersey, Michigan and Mississippi, as well as in many other states, being ignored and down-played by governing authorities, officials and agencies, in the USA?

While officials scramble to respond to the recent revelation that nearly half of Newark schools have been using water contaminated with dangerous levels of lead, many environmentalists claims the issue should have been confronted long ago.

Jeff Tittel, Director of the New Jersey Sierra Club, issued a statement last week calling the findings at 30 Newark schools a "wake-up call" to a growing public health issue. He cited similar tests that uncovered lead in water lines at Morristown Medical Center, as well as supplies overseen by the Passaic Valley Water Commission, which brings water to towns across five North Jersey counties.

"We need to do a better job of testing throughout the state and fixing these problems. We can't allow our children to be put at risk," Tittel said.

"While the governor acts like it isn't serious issue, we're seeing school children and hospital patients being exposed to a dangerous neurotoxin."

Officials have sought to downplay concerns about the lead in Newark schools, saying the issues stemmed from piping and solder in the aging buildings, and even the highest levels detected were nowhere near those found in crisis-stricken Flint, Mich.

Testing at schools is not required by either the state or the federal Environmental Protection Agency, but is done voluntarily at each district school on an annual basis. Results from past years have yet to be released to the public, however, and it remains unclear just how long children and faculty may have been ingesting the contaminated water.

Another U.S. City Finds Lead in Its Drinking Water! Isolated reports in Jackson, Miss. come after water problems in Flint, Mi.

As residents in Flint, Mich. continue to warm bottled water for their baths and the blame for the public health crisis is debated in Congress, concern over lead in the water supply has spread to another U.S. city.

Last week, the city of Jackson, Miss., announced that 13, or 20% out of 58 homes randomly tested, showed lead levels between 17 and 20 parts per billion (p.p.b). The level that is supposed to trigger federal action is 15.

The reports highlight the increased attention to questions of environmental justice in the wake of the Flint disaster. In late January, Ohio health officials confirmed the presence of lead in the drinking water in the town of Sebring and said five local children were found to have elevated levels of lead in their blood. And on Feb. 2, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton weighed in on the lead levels in Jackson, urging local officials to “treat these situations with the utmost seriousness.”

The problems in Jackson are at the moment on a much smaller scale than what occurred in Flint, where at least one home was found to have lead levels of 13,200 p.p.b. But exposure to any heightened levels of lead can lead to developmental problems and brain damage, particularly for young children, and environmental scientists say it is uncommon for more than trace amounts of lead to show up in drinking water anywhere in the U.S. This problem was first publicized by Jackson's officials on Jan. 28th-29th, 2016. In his opening remarks, committee chairman Rep. Jason Chaffetz introduced several documents suggesting EPA officials had not acted quickly enough in Flint in the face of numerous warnings, some of them from inside the agency.

But he didn't reserve his critiques for those in federal agencies. He also called out Darnell Earley, who was Flint's state-appointed emergency manager between 2013 and 2015. According to Chaffetz, Earley was invited last week to testify before the committee, but told the panel on Monday night he would not and his lawyer refused a subpoena issued Tuesday.

Earley's attorney, A. Scott Bolden, told CNN on Tuesday that the subpoena "borders on nonsensical" and said his client needed more time to prepare and travel to the nation's capital.

Chaffetz vowed that Earley will come to Washington and "do a deposition later this month."

"We're calling on the U.S. Marshals to hunt (Earley) down and give him that subpoena," the Utah Republican said.

Rep. Elijah Cummings, the committee's top Democrat, thanked Chaffetz for arranging the hearing but challenged him for not calling on "the most critical witness of all," Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, to testify. The Republican governor appointed Earley and -- because the state had taken control of Flint due to its budget woes -- ultimately was in charge throughout the crisis.

"We need to determine how children in the United States of America, in the year 2016, have been exposed to drinking water poisoned by lead," an impassioned Cummings said. "And not by accident. By the actions of their own government."

Zika Virus report. Its past, present, symptoms, and causes.

Symptoms: About 1 in 5 people infected with Zika virus become ill (i.e., develop Zika). The most common symptoms of Zika are fever, rash, joint pain, or conjunctivitis (red eyes). Other common symptoms include muscle pain and headache. The incubation period (the time from exposure to symptoms) for Zika virus disease is not known, but is likely to be a few days to a week.
The illness is usually mild with symptoms lasting for several days to a week. Zika virus usually remains in the blood of an infected person for a few days but it can be found longer in some people. Severe disease requiring hospitalization is uncommon. Deaths are rare.

Diagnosis: The symptoms of Zika are similar to those of dengue and chikungunya, diseases spread through the same mosquitoes that transmit Zika. See your healthcare provider if you develop the symptoms described above and have visited an area where Zika is found. If you have recently traveled, tell your healthcare provider when and where you traveled.

Your healthcare provider may order blood tests to look for Zika or other similar viruses like dengue or chikungunya.

Treatment: No vaccine or medications are available to prevent or treat Zika infections.

Treat the symptoms:
Get plenty of rest.
Drink fluids to prevent dehydration.

Take medicine such as acetaminophen to relieve fever and pain.
Do not take aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), like ibuprofen and naproxen. Aspirin and NSAIDs should be avoided until dengue can be ruled out to reduce the risk of hemorrhage (bleeding). If you are taking medicine for another medical condition, talk to your healthcare provider before taking additional medication.

If you have Zika, prevent mosquito bites for the first week of your illness. During the first week of infection, Zika virus can be found in the blood and passed from an infected person to another mosquito through mosquito bites. An infected mosquito can then spread the virus to other people.

The Flint water crisis is a drinking water contamination crisis in Flint, Michigan (United States), that started in April 2014, and is still ongoing as of today; January 28, 2016! Thousands upon thousands have been poisoned over this 1-year and 9-months.

After the change in source from treated Lake Huron water (via Detroit) to the Flint River, the city's drinking water had a series of problems that culminated with lead contamination, creating a serious public health danger. The corrosive Flint River water caused lead from aging pipes to leach into the water supply, causing extremely elevated levels of lead. As a result, between 6,000 and 12,000 residents had severely high levels of lead in the blood and experienced a range of serious health problems. The water change is also a possible cause of an outbreak of Legionnaires' disease in the county that has killed at least 10 people and affected tens-of-thousands of others.

On November 13, 2015, four families filed a federal class action lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in Detroit against Governor Rick Snyder and thirteen other city and state officials, and three separate people filed a similar suit in state court two months later, and four more lawsuits were filed after that. Separately, the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Michigan and the Michigan Attorney General's office opened investigations. On January 5, 2016, the city was declared to be in a state of emergency by the Governor of Michigan, before President Obama declared the crisis as a federal state of emergency, January 15, 2016, authorizing additional help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Homeland Security less than two weeks later.

Four government officials—one from the City of Flint, two from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, and one from the Environmental Protection Agency—resigned over the mishandling of the crisis, and Governor Snyder issued an apology to citizens, while promising money to Flint for medical care and infrastructure upgrades.

Top celebrities Michael Moore and Cher have been very outspoken in social media and the mainstream media about their dismay, disappointment, and anger over this preventable tragedy. Cher also will be providing the Flint residents with about 200.000 bottles of Icelandic Glacial water, through a cooperation agreement that she struck with the major aqua company.

There was a flashback to 1973 in a Michigan town over the weekend when the price of gas plunged to 47-cents a gallon at one station. The Beacon and Bridge Market in Houghton Lake stuck it to their competitors by slashing prices Sunday to a level not seen since Richard Nixon was president and disco was king.

And Michigan motorists went mad!

"It was ridiculous," a clerk named Ronda at the popular stop on Lake City Road told NBC News. "There were so many cars the police were called in to direct traffic."

By Monday, the price of regular was back up to 2016 levels — a still low $1.43-a-gallon.
