Welcome to Very Vedic©. A knowledge podcast that answers the questions we all have about life today, using the oldest wisdom on the planet — the ancient Vedic texts from India, The Vedas.
Host and founder of Bondi Meditation Centre, Matt Ringrose, has been teaching Vedic Meditation for quite some time and has been using this ancient wisdom to support his students along the way. The more he teaches this knowledge, the more he appreciates its relevance in the world today.
It’s so easy to understand and to apply in your own life, and he wants to share it with you.
The Vedas were written over 6,000 years ago with one purpose: to help us. They have the potential to free us from suffering and allow us to live our fullest lives.
In season one, Matt is joined by his student Anna, and together they explore relationships, love, feelings, finding a sense of purpose and basically anything else that comes up, from the Vedic view.
If you’re keen to learn how to meditate, or you have a question you’d like answered; DM Matt on Instagram @bondimeditation, or email info@bondimeditation.com.au.

Matt is joined by his friend, and first time Very Vedic guest, Polly.
Polly is interested in exploring the Vedic view on money. Why is it so difficult and triggering? How can we improve our relationship with it? Can we get to a point where we are totally at ease with money? What does it mean when money isn't turning up in our life?
Another very practical, down to earth exploration of one of life's trickiest riddles.
We hope you enjoy! x

In this one Anna asks....
Why are we building it?
How will it effect our spiritual progress?
What are the dangers?
How can it be used for good?
What will karma look like in the Metaverse?
What will love look like in the Metaverse?
What is transhumanism? And do we really need the body?
We hope you find this as fascinating to contemplate as we did.

Ready to enrol? Learn to Let Go here: www.bondimeditation.com.au/learntoletgoAfter a three month hiatus we're back with possibly our most cosmic episode yet.We explore the Vedic theory that absolutely everything we experience is ultimately the result of placebo, in the sense that what we believe and expect to happen, happens. This naturally leads us into a deep exploration of the laws of manifestation and we even squeeze in a chat about dharma and finding our purpose. It's a juicy one. We hope you enjoy!Love Matt & Anna
Ready to Learn to Let Go? Enrol @ www.bondimeditation.com.au/learntoletgoFor this special episode we turned the tables and Matt asked Anna the questions. We discuss how Vedic Meditation and Vedic Knowledge have influenced Anna's experience of day-to-day life, her relationships and her sense of purpose. Ready to enrol? Learn to Let Go here: www.bondimeditation.com.au/learntoletgoIn this one we find out that Matt was a competitive nightmare and how he finally managed to rein it in. We also examine why it’s so tempting to get caught up in the status game in general, and the rewards for opting out of it.Finally we take a good look at social media, what's really going on in there and whether there is a way to use it healthily. As soon as we finished recording this one we agreed it was our favourite for a while, possibly ever.We hope you enjoy! With love and Jai Guru DevaMatt & Anna xx
Ready to enrol? Learn to Let Go here: www.bondimeditation.com.au/learntoletgoFor our comeback episode we dived straight back in at the deep end, tackling the most divisive topics of the moment (/ever?): Covid, vaccine choices and how to find our freedom in what is playing out in the world. Please excuse the less-than-perfect sound quality on this one. It's a 'lockdown' production. We'll be back to silky smoothness for the next ep.Hope you enjoy.Love Matt & Anna
In this episode, the last in our second series, we look deeply into speech and how we can refine it, we explore white lies and ‘the sweet truth’ before going out with a bang with a discussion around the sometimes sensitive topic of God.You can listen on Apple Podcasts here (link) and Spotify here (link)If you’ve been enjoying Very Vedic and haven’t already, we’d love it if you could subscribe and tap the stars in Apple Podcasts to give us a rating, and even leave us a review if you feel inspired. In this episode Anna and I explore the Vedic view on manifestation, money and compulsion, considering ideas about black magic, free will and determinism along the way. It gets pretty cosmic but is hopefully practical too!We really enjoyed making this one and have been looking forward to sharing it with you. With love and Jaiu Guru DevaMatt & Anna xx
After a brief hiatus while Anna was adventuring, we’re back with a new episode of our podcast Very Vedic. In this one we explore:Creativity - where it comes from, why it’s important and how to enjoy more of it.Trust - its role in spiritual development and how to build itMichael Jackson - Can we separate the art from the artist? Should we continue to listen to his music? We hope you enjoy. With love and Jai Guru DevaMatt & Anna
We thought that this ended up being a particularly interesting episode. We recorded it in the immediate aftermath of the George Floyd tragedy so that naturally became part of the discussion. Anna also confessed that she has been feeling a crisis of faith around the fundamental principle of Vedic Knowledge: that ultimately benevolent forces are the most powerful and that love will win out in the end. We explored how much of what we have a problem with is a projection of something unresolved in ourselves and considered what it means to be truly surrendered. We got into some day-to-day techniques and practical responses so hopefully you will find something in this episode that helps you. With love and Jai Guru DevaMatt & Anna
This is a special live Q&A episode on the subject of Vedic Parenting. It's relevance isn't limited to parents though, as we’re all involved in raising children in some capacity, whether as family relations, friends etc.I was joined by Vedic Meditation teacher and mother of 20-month-old Indi, Jess Osie. We recorded the session live on Zoom with students of BMC listening and asking the questions. We discussed how to help children find their dharma (life’s purpose), the role of discipline in parenting, how to navigate around drugs and other social challenges and generally how to help children to be less fearful, happier and more fulfilled.Parenting is a sensitive and huge topic and this is just one take on it, but we hope you find something useful in there.
For this first episode of season two of Very Vedic, Anna and I explore experiences in the Covid-19 lockdown world from the comfort of my couch. No flash studios or sound recording experts on hand for this one so please excuse the touch of distortion on Anna's voice in the first half of the recording.
For this special episode, recorded live in Matt's living room in Bondi, we hosted a live online discussion about the coronavirus crisis. Listeners asked questions and Matt answered them in real time.As always with Vedic Knowledge, the conversation was an exploration of the possibilities that open up when we approach life consciously, and how the challenges we face at this time contain great opportunities for growth. We hope the ideas discussed here help you to find ways to thrive, rather than just survive, at this unique time in our lives.
In episode six of Very Vedic — season one’s final episode — Matt’s student Anna asks for the Vedic view on Australia’s catastrophic bushfire season. She identifies it as Destruction, one of the three underlying forces that control all things, but how do we even begin to accept that there’s a bigger reason for all of this when people and animals are dying?Matt shares one interpretation from the Vedic view, with the utmost respect for the lives, homes and land lost. And that’s that Destruction isn’t inherently evil. Its purpose is to create more space for more creation to come. What he explains in this episode, is that Nature would like us to learn and evolve through consciousness and connection. And what does Nature need in order to teach us? Our attention. And how does it get our attention? Obvious, dramatic and even painful events that wake us up to what we’re doing wrong. From the Vedic view, the world is always in one of four stages (or ages, or yugas) — Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dvapara Yuga and Kali Yuga. Right now we’re in Kali Yuga, which is the age of ignorance.Matt gives this context to explain why the majority of our current culture is fixed in a pursuit of external power, acquired by dominating and manipulating Nature. This creates imbalances and makes Nature scream. Nature's cries become harder and harder to avoid. It is trying to force us into a higher state of consciousness and acknowledge the inter-relatedness of all things. So right now with Australia’s catastrophic bushfire season, we’re becoming aware that the behaviour of the world is unsustainable. This in itself is a triggering point for a lot of people — that if we have this broader perspective about catastrophes or death, that we are callous or lack compassion. But the very fact that we’re aware of what’s at play, means we are participating with Nature through acceptance. And it is through acceptance that we move towards evolution and better things. Matt explains that this is humanity sitting in its inherent power.Would you like to hear a second season of Very Vedic? In episode five of Very Vedic, Matt’s student Anna starts by sharing the complete flow and blissfulness she felt while traveling to the studio to record.Matt shares that from the Vedic view, this was Anna experiencing the support of nature. In this episode, we learn that we create our own universe because our experience of the universe is based on our state of consciousness. The pair then move onto relationships, and Matt explains that it is our relationships that create the most meaningful opportunities for evolution.Matt shares that we choose our partners because their wounds intersect with our own. We trigger each other’s wounds, which presents an opportunity to evolve. He also shares that as we evolve spiritually, we don’t actually change, it’s our desires that change. And that we come to realise that our desires are in fact not our own, but nature experiencing itself through us.If you’re curious about the Vedic view on love, intimacy, parenting and relationships, how we choose our partners and ending irrelevant friendships, Matt hopes you love this episode. If you’re keen to learn how to meditate, or you have a question you’d like answered, DM Matt on Instagram @bondimeditation, or email info@bondimeditation.com.au.Thanks for listening and if you like what you hear, please leave Very Vedic a review!Jai Guru Deva.Very Vedic is produced by Studio Offline, technical production by Pod Paste, original music by Al Royale.
In episode four of Very Vedic, Matt’s student Anna asks about the relevance of joy from the Vedic view, which opened up an interesting discussion about the often bumpy and sometimes traumatic path to enlightenment.Matt reveals that as we begin our spiritual journeys, or even if we’re decades in, it is common to feel like our state of mind isn’t matched to our elevated state of consciousness. He explains that if someone is experiencing a darker state of mind as they progress spiritually, then karmically, that is what is most relevant for that individual to evolve.Matt and Anna also discuss the Vedic concept of dharma — which loosely translates to purpose. He provides insight into how we can discover our dharma and live a more joyful, useful and fulfilling life. This episode stands for the light and shade of our spiritual journeys, and seeks to close the gap between mental health and enlightenment.Do you need support?* Visit http://www.spiritualemergencenetwork.org/

In episode three of Very Vedic, Matt's student Anna shares a recurring feeling of nostalgia she has for her teenage years, and identifies it’s because she had little to no responsibilities. Everything felt fun.Spirituality can feel serious and in some practices, demand a rigid sense of responsibility from us, so Anna asks Matt where fun sits in the Vedic worldview. He shares that for some of us, we can unintentionally pass judgement on other people’s unsustainable life choices when we first embark on our spiritual path — our inner world is beautiful but the outer world seems ignorant. He explains this is sometimes referred to as cosmic consciousness blues, and it’s actually a hijacking of spiritual advancement by the mistaken intellect because inherent in the deepest of all spiritual teachings, is play.Matt and Anna also discuss the Vedic view on death and grief, explore discipline and addiction, and how doing a sacred practice of sacrifice called tapas can increase our state of consciousness.
In episode two of Very Vedic, Matt and Anna explore the concept of deletion, and the uncomfortability that comes with letting go of old ideas, emotions and beliefs.Anna is meditating, so why does she feel anxious?Matt uses Vedic wisdom to explain that what she is experiencing is a resistance to the feeling of discomfort that comes with death — or deletion — of that which is longer relevant to her. And that it’s actually an opportunity to heal undigested and unprocessed emotions. He explains that meditation is the vehicle that drives out that which is no longer relevant to her personal evolution, and the evolution of all things. This episode is a lesson in acceptance. We learn that when we’re practicing acceptance, we’re actually accessing a higher state of consciousness.Matt shares with Anna that when she makes something wrong — a feeling, a situation or an experience — she’s actually amplifying the very feeling she’s trying to resist feeling. In other words: we suffer in exact proportion to the amount we resist. He gives her practical advice on what to try instead.
In episode one of Very Vedic, Matt and his student Anna explore some foundational Vedic concepts that help set up the discussions they’ll have moving forward.Anna begins by questioning the role of the ego, and asks if it is ever useful to us. Matt goes on to explain that the ego is neutral, but it is the intellect that can become mistaken and cause us to suffer.Matt shares that the purpose of Very Vedic is to help us correct our mistaken intellect, and gain an understanding of the true laws of nature. The pair also explore the role of the mantra and other Vedic concepts like creation, maintenance and destruction, and the Vedic view on intuition — also known as charm.
