When we think about taking risks, the first ones we consider are financial and physical risks. This episode explores these risks and, more importantly, the social, psychological, emotional, and cultural risks that women are taking all the time. We discuss the consequences and impact some of these risks have had on women's lives and livelihoods.

“Women are taking risks all the time and reaping the possible loss and injury and uncertainty that may take.” - Lulu Minns

We explore the importance of becoming a Risk Contender and how this translates into daily life and business. When we are building our businesses of significance, we need to connect not only with our wisdom but have the courage to step forward and create a lasting impact. On the show, I also share inspiring examples of inspiring women who have been Risk Contenders in their field and the positive and negative effects this has had on their lives, careers and success status.

“Whilst as women we can receive trauma and disempowerment in the collective in society, we can also find our empowerment and healing in that as well” - Lulu Minns

Episode Highlights:

  • Why you have to take risks to create impact

  • How we as women can break conventional rules and become Risk Contenders

  • How to recognise risks you have already taken and overcome obstacles to become a Risk Contender
  • Three powerful journaling prompts to help you reflect on how risk-averse you are
  • What being a Risk Contender looks like for us as a collective of women

International Women’s Day Insight:

“When we connect with role models and women that have taken risks we can connect with the archetype of that woman to step into taking greater risks for ourselves, for our businesses, and to reach that courage and impact.” - Lulu Minns

Women are taking social, psychological, emotional and cultural risks on top of financial and physical risks, all the time. While challenging, taking risks can lead to significant growth both individually and as a collective of women. Challenge yourself to become a Risk Contender!

Lucy Jeffrey is the founder of Bare Kind, selling bamboo socks that save endangered animals. She founded the company in 2018 when she decided she didn’t want her corporate bank job to be her lasting legacy to the world. Every pair sold has a positive impact on the lives of the animal pictured — whether that be hedgehogs and bumblebees in the UK or Orangutans and Gorillas in jungles worldwide!

“We were able to protect 800 acres of forest last year JUST with our orangutang socks.” - Lucy Jeffery.

Lucy joins me on the show today to discuss why her personal values of kindness and compassion prompted her to leave her corporate job to become an entrepreneur. She shares how those values intersect with her robust charity business model and describes how her Charity Impact Report helps customers understand how their sock purchase helps animals in real terms so they can connect with Bare Kind’s philosophy. Lucy also discusses why it was so crucial for her to have a clear mission for her business that centred around protecting our diverse planet and its inhabitants and how she connects her customers to that vision.

“That network effect of speaking to other like-minded people who are there to support you is very validating.” - Lucy Jeffery.

Episode Highlights:

How Bare Kind was designed from the ground up to be good, and why kindness, compassion, and being a voice for animals is so important to Lucy

  • How Bare Kind measures the impact of how they support each animal and what ‘sock currency’ is
  • Lucy’s advice for managing your finances as a small business — and why she checks her business finances daily
  • Lucy’s inspiration and process for designing and bringing a new pair of socks to life
  • The catalyst that made Lucy jump into her business full time in 2020 and what she has learned about herself in the process

  • Lucy’s biggest challenge as a woman in business and how the Natwest Accelerator has supported her through it

International Women’s Day Insight:

Setting your intention is key when you’re managing your own business. As an entrepreneur, it’s essential to have a vision and mission that you really connect with and share with your customers. In this masculine-centred world, power and money are so often the key currency and drivers. We’re going to explore how to pivot the focus from currency to compassion. Women are naturally more empathetic and sensitive to others, and as a result, our compassionate nature often comes to the fore — but how can we integrate that vital skill into our lives and our businesses?

Flow is a feminine principle over static, which embraces collaboration over competition.” - Lulu Minns

Compassion is our female superpower. In today’s episode, we discuss how that compassion can make a lasting change within society and business. We’re looking at why we as women often feel disconnected from traditional power structures and how we can move forwards by seeking out role models and mentors that understand the worth of stepping outside the masculine narrative of doing business.

“We can only be compassionate to others when we start to show more compassion for ourselves.” - Lulu Minns

Episode Highlights:

  • We talk about the currency of compassion in relation to the more traditional currency model of money and power

  • The importance of being compassionate to ourselves, to improve our compassion for others

  • We look at why it’s not always about the answers, it’s about asking the right questions
  • How influential figures have viewed the role of compassion and kindness within society
  • How to introduce compassion as part of your business currency, and embrace the principle of purpose over profit

International Women’s Day Insight:

“Compassion is not a weakness, it’s a power.” - Lulu Minns

The traditional currency of power and money is a masculine way of thinking that doesn't align with how we think and act as women.. By understanding and using the currency of compassion, women can play to their feminine strengths in business rather than considering them a weakness.

Dr. Sharon Blackie Sharon is an award-winning writer, an internationally recognized teacher whose work sits at the interface of psychology, mythology, and ecology. She specialises as a therapist in narrative storytelling and creative imagination, and clinical hypnotherapy. Sharon’s work is focused on the relevance of myth, fairy tales, and folk traditions to the personal, cultural and environmental problems we face today.

“The natural world holds wisdom for all of us.” - Sharon Blackie

I’m so excited to have Sharon on the show for this International Women’s Day series because we are discussing how women can harness the wisdom of folk tales in how we approach the problems that we face in the modern world. We explore the importance of reclaiming our feminine natures and why when women achieve success in the patriarchal wasteland, it can make us feel hollow or unbalanced. Sharon shares her research into why women have a need to align with the seasons and the moon and connect with our need to listen to a more earthy, bodied wisdom that rejects the masculine need for constant outward achievement.

“There is a witch wound that that has followed us through the centuries that makes us a little bit fearful.” - Sharon Blackie

Episode Highlights:

  • The importance that we as women reconnect with our stories and ancestral wisdom
  • The cultural narrative that we grow up with as women in the Western world and how it has subconsciously damaged how we interact with others in business
  • Why women need a different approach that encompasses more of the qualities that we think of as feminine
  • Why women are more aligned with the post-heroic story that focuses on community and contraction
  • What we can do to take back and root ourselves within our precious ancestral sources of wisdom

  • Sharon’s insights on how women in the second half of life can move forward and share their skills despite modern society wanting them to quietly disappear

International Women’s Day Insight:

“There are feminine qualities, which clearly women embody in spades, which are a slower, deeper, embodied wisdom.” - Sharon Blackie

We need to harness the power of connecting with ancient feminine wisdom traditionally rooted in the earth. Recognising that feminine energy allows us a success that aligns more fully with nature’s rhythms will enable us to reject patriarchal norms and embrace our energy and power and use it to make changes in the world

Selma Studer is a certified sound therapist and Founder of GONG. After many years in the corporate world, Selma decided to follow her passion for wellness and help people do something about the stress and anxiety that ravages so many lives. She experienced her first gong bath in Thailand and quickly realized the practice was just as needed in an urban setting. Selma has now guided more than 5,500 individuals through 800+ gong baths in person and online.

"We are sound; we're living sound, and everything that we do is a vibration." - Selma Studer.

I’m excited to have Selma on the show today to share her wisdom on the power of sound and how we can harness it to create calm in our lives. We dig into the science behind why gong baths reduce stress and anxiety, soothe your mind and induce a meditative state by stimulating brainwave activity. Selma also guides us through a short gong bath, so close your eyes, relax and let the sound wash over you.

“The wisdom of sound is really about this idea of coherence and harmony. So we can work with powerful vibrations and sounds to bring us back into balance, back into tune physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally.” - Selma Studer.

Episode Highlights:

  • Why gong baths are transformational for so many people
  • How Selma has translated her corporate experience in communication and marketing to the soul communication of sound
  • Why the harmonies and vibrations are an integral part of the wisdom of sound, and how they are backed by scientific research
  • How Selma and Gong pivoted during the pandemic, how the process of producing online gong baths has worked out and what Selma has evolved over the past two years in ways she didn’t anticipate
  • Why intent is critical, both when experiencing a gong bath and in business growth, and how to set yourself up for success in both areas

International Women’s Day Insight:

“The whole essence of the business is supporting people, meeting them where they're at, and encouraging them to take care of themselves.” - Selma.

It is so vital to take care of your mental, physical, spiritual wellbeing. As an entrepreneur, you have to make sure that you’re taking care of yourself so that you can show up for others. Having the wisdom and intelligence to understand that you need to hold space for yourself means that you can devote yourself to serving others in your business.

IMAGINE a WORLD where Women had more time to develop their GENIUS?

Women are so often busy self-sacrificing, overgiving, overachieving, and overthinking. Lulu Minns is an award-winning coach who creates retreats for entrepreneurial women who need to find space in their lives. She is a huge believer that contraction is the KEY to expansion and supports women to find that place of solace, space, and reflection away from distractions where they can do deep and meaningful work.

“When we face all of those external pressures, we can become disconnected from our inner wisdom and sucked into the patriarchal model of more, more, more.” - Lulu Minns

Welcome to the International Women's Day 2022 10 part series. I’m so happy you joined us, so grab your journal and your pen and get ready to make some notes. Think of this series as a mini-retreat, where you’ll be hearing amazing insights from some unique and inspiring women. March is a great time to really feel into the year, and we're going to focus on the themes of intellect and wisdom, kindness and compassion, and wisdom and impact to feed our minds and pave a different way to success!

“Wisdom is about experience, knowledge, and good judgment — but on a more advanced level, it's also the integration of conscious awareness.” - Lulu Minns

Episode Highlights:

  • We reconnect, refocus, restore and find the headspace free of the external pressures that women face
  • How to integrate our experience and knowledge to create a real depth of understanding and wisdom about where we are in our lives and what we want to achieve

  • if we reflect on our experiences, and engage with the cycles and patterns in nature, we become wiser
  • Three amazing journaling tools that help us reflect on how to do less, but at the same time amplify the skills and abilities that we have

International Women’s Day Insight:

“We all have an innate wisdom like a jewel inside of us that's passed down.” - Lulu Minns

Bethany’s poems PINK and LIGHT BULB received millions of views after being featured on the BBC and she recently appeared as a speaker for Ted X Women, London sharing her part talk and part performance ‘breaking out of the concrete’.

Bethany work shines a shadowy light on everyday issues such as mental health, LGBT, grief and longing and during this episode we discuss the contained wildness of women, how to overcome not being liked and the power of boredom in helping us to uncover who we are, what we like and our deeper gifts and purpose.

“I love the idea of wildness being contained and I feel like that is what a lightbulb is and that is what being a woman is too - it’s a restrained wildness……and if you don’t contain it (the wildness), you won’t be taken seriously”

The author of Maculine Feminine Balance, Jacqueline McLeod joins me this week to dive deeper into the energy of the feminine. Jacqueline’s book Masculine Feminine Balance, introduces a paradigm shift that is a pathway to a more peaceful, progressive and nourished society.

Together, we discuss the feminine based principles and what the reintroduction of those looks like for a more balanced society. We explore the ramifications of the repression of the feminine for women and men alike and how the solution lies in finding the balance within ourselves.

“Feminine energies can be expressed by any gender -- my idea of feminism is empowering ‘the feminine energy’ in women, men and any other gender for that matter.

Blending the feminine with the masculine brings a more balanced approach to relationships, attitudes and all areas of life”

- Jacqueline McLeod

This week on She Rebel Radio :

  • The Difference between Feminism and Womanism
  • Explore masculine based dominance
  • Why we must learn to value and respect the feminine energy
  • How to understand and explore feminine energy
  • Why the balance of the masculine and feminine is essential for a more balanced and peaceful society
  • How both women and men can (and should) express feminine based energy

We kick off our She Rebel Radio ‘Summer Retreat Series’ with Naomi Newland, Founder of Rest Fest : A Women’s Wellness festival with over 60 experiences including workshops, speakers and pop up spa’s - the festival is designed by women for women’s health, mental wellness and emotional harmony.

Naomi shares how she nurtured (and also hid) from the seed of an idea that was Restfest and later turned it into a reality.

RestFest was a yearning and one of those ‘big magic’ ideas that would just not leave me alone….I felt like it came through me, I would literally dream about it and it kept knocking on the door….

It’s just magical and brilliant to take something from that seed of an idea into a reality.

It's a beautiful process”

- Naomi Newland

Resfest 2020 was cancelled just a week before the UK lockdown and during this episode we discuss all the joys, crisis moments and lessons learnt of being an event organiser before, during and after the pandemic.

“Cancelling the event the day before really built up my fighting spirit. And I think being one of the first events to be impacted. I also felt a little bit of responsibility to be able to do a grace”

This week on She Rebel Radio :

  • Discuss the seedlings of Restfest from Idea to Reality
  • Explore the impact of other people on those ideas
  • The development and growth of Restfest
  • The realities of cancelling the event in 2020 24 hours before
  • Galvanising confidence and grace within her leadership
  • What we can look forward to at Rest Fest this year.

As a specialist in employment Law, Jodie’s had her own struggle with mental health and as such is a huge advocate of sharing her story to create change and normalise talking about it.

Being unable to find a firm that aligned with her values, in a ‘moment of madness’ Jodie decided to set up her own firm and during this episode, we explore finding our deeper purpose, maintaining mental health and the importance of women as leaders.

“I had to dig quite deep to understand what I wanted and who I was : passion with action is how I describe my purpose.

So it's not just -- ‘I'm passionate about this or that, but what we're going to do about it, and then that really then creates our purpose’” - Jodie Hill

During this episode, we explore the Habit of Necessary and the mandatory, obligatory and survival habits we’ve created over lockdown (for the best part of a year) and how we’ve been conditioned to batten down the hatches.

We explore why we are less enthusiastic to grasp our new found freedom and what we can maybe do to get ourselves in the mood to break the ‘habits of necessary’?

Breaking bad habits start with a choice and feeling our way into a new found freedom.

Think about ditching one of the ‘habits of necessity’ you've created - maybe that’s lowering your prices or prioritising family and your partners work over your business?”

This week on She Rebel Radio :

  • Safety and Security vs Freedom
  • We consider what lockdown habits are going to be the hardest to break?
  • Why we create essential, basic survival habits in lockdown as a coping strategy
  • How Habits can be positive or negative
  • How we can take baby steps to our new found freedom with one change today

Join our first She Rebel Roundtable discussion with guest speaker Amy Mckeown, award winning mental health and well-being specialist, Amy is a leading expert working with the mental health of women and recently founded the business of being a woman conference.

During this episode, we discuss : How do we define feminine success? Which is a question I have been exploring with clients since 2016 and provided expert guidance upon. We explore at the present time, we are in a breakdown of systems or structures in society that upholds a masculine paradigm of power and success. They are old, outdated and not working.

“That creates a gap and a void - one which I like to call no woman’s land ! A void which can be filled with a re-introduction of a feminine principles and a more feminine paradigm of success - one which women will need to lead and re-introduce but what on earth does that look like and what are the problems we face in doing that?”

Amy McKeown concludes :

“Our entire society is based on greek and latin reasoning which is about logic, intelligence and women in those days were not allowed to talk and our whole system and structure is around that. So I think the work now is to really understand who we are and what we want as embodied women living on a cyclical planet.

The responsibility question is about how we are going to speak up for ourselves and how we are going to support other women to do so, to rebuild - these conversations need to happen …..”

This week on She Rebel Radio :

Additional Quote shared by Keeley Olivia :

“A woman cannot make the culture more aware by saying ‘Change.’ But she can change her own attitude toward herself, thereby causing devaluing projections to glance off. She does this by taking back her body. By not forsaking the joy of her natural body, by not purchasing the popular illusion that happiness is only bestowed on those of a certain configuration or age, by not waiting or holding back to do anything, and by taking back her real life, and living it full bore, all stops out. This dynamic self-acceptance and self-esteem are what begins to change attitudes in the culture.” ~Clarissa Pinkola Estes

You want a business with the Significance Factor but what does that really take?

During this episode we begin to unpack the idea of ‘unlearning conventional rules’ and discover the masculine rules in business and thinking at a much deeper level.

“The Krypton Factor measured mental agility, response, physical ability, observation, intelligence and finished with a quick fire round - it was quite the epitome of masculine based thinking”

During this episode, we discover the essential factors you need for a more feminine based business model with the significance factor and understand that what that entails is way beyond the mental and physical aspects.

“The significance factor is where you are tested to your emotional and spiritual limits but really -- it’s about learning the tools you need to go deeper. This is more inline with spiritual agility, deeper observation, embodied practice, emotional intelligence and slowing down”

- Lulu Minns

This week on She Rebel Radio :

  • We welcome Series Two and exploring your Business of Significance
  • We explore the masculine principles of the Krypton Factor
  • Introduce 5 feminine based principles to develop your Significance Factor
  • Understand why you can only take clients as deep as you’ve gone yourself

Where are you going? What is your main objective/purpose and the outcome that you are hoping to reach?

So often, I see women setting off for a journey without thinking through their actual destination and one that is fulfilling to them.

When we seek to fix things outside of ourselves (rather than from within), what is inevitable is finding yourself at yet another empty destination (of which there is no space for in the new paradigm).

This week we explore ’ the external fix’ which leads to empty destinations and how to find an internal fix which leads to a brighter and more fulfilled destination.

“An empty destination is one which is devoid of all meaning and one which takes too much sacrifice to even get there”

This week on She Rebel Radio :

  • Why you need to DECIDE on where you are going.
  • How to pick a fulfilling destination and not another empty one.
  • Why women can be more prone to picking an empty destination.
  • How the external fix contributes to an empty destination & how to identify that trap.
  • Why introspection is key to finding a more fulfilling destination.

SRR 46 : Discovering our Cultural Inheritance with Bethany Webster

Bethany Webster joins me this week and is considered a global expert on healing the “Mother Wound”, something we inherit to varying degrees as women living in patriarchy. To heal this core wound, Bethany teaches women how to discover their own “Inner Mother”.

During this episode we discuss our cultural inheritance as women as being ‘less than’ men and how this manifests personally, culturally, spiritually and at planetary level.

“Our cultural inheritance is as women — we get this message from birth that ‘we are less than’ which gets reinforced in so many ways. It’s filtered through the family, school, church and everywhere , it’s baked into society”

- Bethany Webster

This week on She Rebel Radio :

  • We explore our ‘cultural inheritance’ as women and the ‘mother wound’
  • Discover the four levels we find the “mother wound” manifesting at
  • How the ‘mother wound’ feeds into the roles women play of people pleasing, approval seeking and overachieving.
  • Why there may be reluctance to look at the ‘mother wound’ and do the internal work.
  • Why we have a cultural responsibility to do the ‘inner work’ as women.

Dana Denis-Smith joins me this week for a special episode celebrating Women’s History Month where she shares with us her first decade in business and how she also found the time to create the First One Hundred Years, a project celebrated the centenary of women in law throughout 2019 and is followed by the Next 100 Years.

Dana is a serial entrepreneur, former lawyer and international journalist. In 2010, she founded Obelisk Support, a London-based alternative legal services provider built around flexible, highly- skilled ex-City lawyers. During this episode Dana shares how her childhood, contrasting careers and time in India inspired her to becoming an entrepreneur and what the first ten years in business has taught her.

“It’s about the methodology and the finish but then its also about how targeted you are and really at the end of the day — how motivated you are in seeing the goal being achieved, no matter how difficult it is to achieve it”

- Dana Denis-Smith

This week on She Rebel Radio :

  • Why she retrained as a lawyer whilst being a journalist.
  • How India has been a source of inspiration and place where her business ideas have been formed.

  • Why she has never been afraid of failure and trusted whatever happened would make her a bigger and better person.
  • What inspired her (and how she found the time) to start the First 100 Years Project around her business and motherhood.
  • What is next for women and entrepreneurship and how she plans to continue to support women founders in the legal profession.

Additional Quote :

‘’The legal profession and journalism was such a contrast but it gave me a sharper focus of what I was good at. Sometimes it’s good to be a fish out of water as then you realise you like the water and where you can flourish ”

This episode is for you — if you have found yourself learning all the business strategies and it hasn’t worked for YOU. Or if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by all the strategies that are available and don’t know where to start.

We dive into why women from positions of prestige favour strategy over identity when they start their businesses but why it needs to be the other way around as strategy without identity is futile.

“The real problem — is when you go for strategy without looking at the identity piece. Yet how can you nail your niche or know who your ideal client is when you don’t yet know, who you are or what your business stands for?”

- Lulu Minns

This week on She Rebel Radio :

  • Why business strategies and processes may not be working for you
  • I share two crucial pieces of identity that helped me root my business
  • Why women leaving prestigious positions have to reconnect with their identity
  • The idea of transitional stress coupled with the bombardment of marketing strategies leading to overwhelm
  • The homogenisation of the online business space
  • Why identity and discovering more of your inner essence will support you moving forward

This week, Karen Dobres an elected Director of Lewes Football Club also known as Equality FC which is the first football club in the world that pays its female players the same as the men which not only means equal pay, but an equal level of coaching and the same quality of strengths’ and conditioning training.

During this episode, we discuss how Football teaches us some lessons as to why the game is representative of what is and has happened for women on a wider scale by being excluded from business. We explore why it’s crucial we create a level playing field for women in both in prestigious positions and in business.

“For so long, female players have been accepting crumbs from the men’s table and the reason is they’ve had to overcome so much to be there in the first place”

- Karen Dobres

During this episode, I share with you exactly why when leaving your prestigious position and starting your business of significance - you need to dial up your intuition and dial down your instinct. I highlight and illustrate the differences between these two things and why dialling up your intuition is essential.

We explore why as women we can be hardwired for some instinctive behaviour that’s not beneficial to growing a business yet when we tune in with intuition -- its a super power we can actually leverage. We explore the core differences between Intuition and Instinct, how you can identify which one you are leading from and the different outcomes you can expect.

“It’s important as women we are having a conscious conversation with ourselves in doing the opposite of what our instincts may tell us—dialling it right down.

But when it comes to your intuition, make the space to listen to the super power you have as it will create a trail for you to step into your genius”

- Lulu Minns

This week on She Rebel Radio :

  • Why your instinct will dial up when leaving your prestigious position
  • Why intuition is where you actually want to lead from and a super power
  • How intuition and instinct are different in nature
  • The instincts women in business may need to conquer
  • How you can identify Intuition vs Instinct
  • The different outcomes you can expect when dialling up or down

During this episode I discuss why we shouldn’t just be “retaining” women in prestigious positions and why we also need to support the brave women who are ready to exit those positions and create new platforms for success.

We explore the reasons that have been given as to why women are leaving prestigious positions and how we have barely scratched the surface for the unconscious bias that exists for women in traditionally male dominated roles. I ask important questions around whether equality is enough and how do we begin to shape the world of prestige with more feminine based principles?

“As women we are expected to fit into patriarchal versions of success. And we are expected to be contained within its structures, systems and it’s rules. It’s no wonder so many of us feel trapped, caged and suffocated.”

- Lulu Minns

This week on She Rebel Radio :

  • I discuss my decision to exit the legal profession
  • We explore the reasons why women are being called to leave prestigious positions which is not meeting the need for our significance and ambition
  • Why we need to stop using the word “retain” and what it actually means
  • The masculine shape of prestigious positions and unconscious bias that exists
  • If asking for equality in prestige is really enough
  • Why exclusion is the real key to diversity and essential for women
  • How we must consider finding the space for feminine based principles and how entrepreneurship allows us to do that
  • And why we must support women who are brave enough to exit those positions

Founder of Blue Health Coaching, Ocean Activist and Blue Mind Award winner Lizzi Larbalestier joins me this week where she shares how water ripples through her purpose and how each of us can use blue environments to ask important questions about possibility, purpose and why each of us are here.

During this episode, Lizzi explains how the ocean encourages us to slow our breathing whereby we become more aware and connected to our heart rhythm and body which enables us to make decisions from the entire nervous system. This allows us as humans to check in with our individual eco system and the wider one as well. We discuss how living in a digital world which values structure and certainty fuels the inability to make sensory decisions and navigate change effectively.

“The beach is a space of continual transition. There is a lack of being static and that reminds us that change is constant “

- Lizzi Larbalestier

This week on She Rebel Radio :

  • Why as humans, we are built to connect with water.
  • How you can use blue environments (even in urban areas) to ask questions about purpose, possibility and why you are here.
  • How being at the beach allows for solitude and reflection and provides a strong formative, playful and restorative experience.

  • How the beach causes us to slow down, be more open to exploring possibilities and ensures that our decision making becomes coherent and connected to the wider impact.

  • How directed attention creates fatigue compared to soft fascination which opens up our entire nervous system.
  • How the ocean automatically provides an environment for mindfulness.

Lizzi’s advice for She Rebels :

“When you stifle creativity, you become very conditioned to the way you respond to circumstances and that actually doesn’t allow for change”

Are you ready to make 2020 your most transformational year yet? How would less frustration and moving more gracefully into 2020 feel to you? Then dive into this episode where I explain why setting strict and rigid business goals vs softer intentions may be the exact thing that has been keeping you stuck.

When going through a period of transformation, intentions will set the course for you, allowing the space for growth, receptivity, flow and the co-creation you need to create change. Find out why intentions will act as a filter for the decisions you make and help to effortlessly move you in the right direction. During this episode, I discuss the the difference between intentions, strict business goals, annual resolutions and giving “things” your attention.

“Setting softer intentions are crucial when in a period of transformation vs strict business goals which will create frustration” - Lulu Minns

This week on She Rebel Radio :

  • Why you need to start the new year, decade, month and every day with intentions.
  • Why intentions are crucial when in a period transformation compared to rigid strict business goals which will create frustration and the need to control.
  • How intentions are feminine in nature and require openness, receptivity and the space for growth.
  • Intentions vs strict business goals, resolutions and attention.
  • How business goals and the measurable aspects can lie underneath the intention.
  • Why resolutions are often clouded in lack with nothing to replace the gap with.
  • How attention energises and can spotlight a problem rather than transform or change anything.
  • I share 3 journaling tools with you to start tuning in with those intentions for the year ahead.
  • Why you should end the year, month and day with gratitude which is an important alignment piece of the puzzle.

Female CEO and Co-Founder Alex Bailey joins me this week — where she shares 5 years into her business journey, who inspires her, the compelling vision which pulls her forward and the organic route her business took which gives the ultimate freedom in making important decisions which are purpose led.

With a traditional background in Occupational Psychology, Alex pioneered the first strengths- based performance programme to a UK organisation in 2004 and went on to scale this out in a global role to 27 countries and 65,000 people at Aviva.

During this episode, Alex further discusses how “fear” is not a good basis for change and how at Bailey and French Ltd, they place people as the expert in their own environment using new experiences to inspire openness and receptivity to change. With the world undergoing rapid transformation, Alex discusses how being purpose led with a focus on humanising the future world of work underpins everything she does.

“We are hurtling towards a very transformed future and in the process loosing the art of meaningful human connection and conversation. We must do better”

- Alex Bailey

This week on She Rebel Radio :

  • How occupational psychology and the early part of her career was quite rigid in thinking and diversity.
  • How creating change need not be complex but can in fact be very simple.
  • The discrimination faced as a female CEO but also how diversity is being demand led by the marketplace.
  • The limits of “fear” as a basis of change rather than inspiring openness and receptivity
  • How her company focused on providing solutions for clients and not the competition.
  • The business leaders and compelling vision which inspires her daily.
  • The need for boldness and a radical approach to business and the world of work.
  • Why the focus on setting up quickly, rapid growth and selling out is outdated versus purpose led businesses with a vision for cultural evolution.
  • Why she listens to her intuition and has learnt to dial up her own voice.
  • Why finding your tribe is crucial to testing your ‘boldness’.
  • How she checks in, reflects and asks what it is she wants to be know for.
  • On how sharing her “why” openly means her leadership team can also hold her accountable to it.
Alex’s advice for She Rebels :

“I regularly reflect and ask MYSELF the question around - is this the right thing? Is this really what I want to be known for? Is this what I really want held up against my name? It really is important to dial up the volume of your own voice”

This week I celebrate 5 years since I handed in my notice as a criminal defence lawyer, litigator and Head of Department. I take you through my story of why I made that decision and 3 things that helped me decipher that 2015 was the year I decided to build a new arena for myself to play in.

During this episode, I discuss how Kimberley Motley’s quote of “getting out of the boxing ring’ resonated with me so deeply and how that women leaving corporate and building their own arenas is indicative of what is happening on a wider scale. Is 2020 the year, you’re going to get serious about building your new arena? Is it time to assume a new version of power and significance? Is it time to express yourself more creatively instead of being conditioned to follow the rules? And why it’s crucial to win the internal battle first and allow your intuitive side to take the lead.

“I discovered that I was no longer in the arena I wanted to play in — I needed to lay the foundations for myself for a new arena to play in, one built on my terms, with more meaning, more significance and built on feminine presence.”

  • Lulu Minns

This Week on She Rebel Radio:

  • I explain how I decided it was the right time to take the leap to build my new arena.
  • I celebrate 5 years since making that decision and share with you 3 things to consider

when deciding if it’s YOUR TIME to build your new arena. * We discuss hard power (threats, competition, forcing, fear) vs Soft power based on

empathy, understanding, support and collaboration. * How exhausting exerting power in the wrong way can be * Needing to express yourself creatively vs being stifled, following the rules, templates,

systems and structures. * How systems and structures in your new arena may also be keeping you stuck. * Why finding your authentic voice is essential to creating that new arena * Why winning the internal battle of allowing intuition to take the lead is crucial * And why embodying change is more than mindset and connects with feminine presence

This week we talk about why becoming a different version of you is essential when you're moving through your business journey. And if you want to make it a success — why your personal growth and development is essential to you stepping out and into your new business venture.

During this episode, I discuss why the evolutionary journey is more granular than it can appear in the online world and why there is a process of learning things before you can begin to expect acceleration and your entrepreneurial plane to start taking off. I also explain how the unknowns and taking action despite this differs from what you’ve been taught in the corporate world.

“Having a position prestige is a very linear path, you know the outcome and all the steps before you get there. But the journey of a business owner is very different and the feminine one is even more foggy and unknown”

  • Lulu Minns

This Week on She Rebel Radio:

  • Why you need to take gradual and baby steps as well as big leaps.
  • The feminine spiral of success vs rigid goals and expectations.
  • Why its important to sow the seeds and build the foundation first.
  • Why the Heroines journey is very different having many destination and not just one.
  • How softer intentions will allow an unfolding around you instead of restricting your thinking by way of linear goals.
  • Why sustainability is key versus grabbing the low hanging fruit
  • How the evolutionary process is getting to know yourself more which enables you to

show up more fully in your business. * How I work with clients via the Rebel Heart Club Mastermind and Breakout Strategy workshop which is coming to Brighton in Jan 2020.

This week we dive into a totally different perspective on what your gifts actually may be and why they might also be your curse. Trying to nail down what your great at is difficult when leaving a position of prestige. You’ve maybe dived into personal development, all the personality tests, looked at what you loved doing as a child and asked others what you were great at.

But during this episode, I ask you to flip the script and instead ask - what is it you were criticised for? What did you get into trouble for? What were you picked on for and what were your sufferings as a child? Where is your gift in being different? How can you leverage that as an asset and not let it drag you down? There cannot be strengths without its opposite weaknesses. Where might your gifts be hidden in all of that?

I also discuss how the curse of competence can keep many women stuck from finding their gifts and what they’re really great at.

“ Where our gift anchors us, might show up as a weakness elsewhere - that’s why it can also curse us and get us into trouble” - Lulu Minns

This Week on She Rebel Radio:

  • We flip the script and search elsewhere for your gifts and zone of genius.
  • Discuss how the curse of competence and being good at anything can keep you stuck.
  • Why strengths cannot exist without its opposite weaknesses.
  • How the things you got into trouble for, picked on and criticised for — could be the key

to your gift/s. * How you can leverage your differences as an asset and not a curse. * Biopics and how musicians stories guide them to their greatness (and yours)

Are you scared of remaining insignificant? Perhaps you feel the need to step into your significance, but you’re not sure of how to get on the right path? You need to leave the feeling of unimportance - of fading into the background - behind and figure out what has been holding you back. Garner the support of other women to step up to be visible as a powerful leader with presence and integrity. This is what you were born to do.

Today I share how I realized I was destined to find significance in my professional life and how I was inspired on that journey by a variety of female role models and mentors. I discuss how you can change your narrative and find significance as a leader and why the path is different for each one of us. I also encourage you to consider what is holding you back from seeking noteworthy positions and preventing you from stepping up to be seen as the committed, powerful, significant woman you are.

You want to grow your business and expand your reach, but finding the right time can be hard. Our society and global views often value expansion over contraction, but before you can get bigger, you need to assess where you’re at right now and where you want to go. Autumn is a perfect time to re-assess and reflect on your business goals and build a foundation for your future expansion.

Today, I discuss the process of contraction and why we need to reframe it as a necessary part of the growth cycle. I share my journey of contracting different aspects and processes in my business and why it was a vital part of building a robust and sustainable business. I also dive into the feminine principles of contraction, why it is an essential female process, and why it should be treated as the other side of the coin to expansion.

Business has always been about the ‘know, like, and trust’ factor. While your website is certainly an important piece for attracting new customers to your business, it’s not the most important for getting clients to say “YES!” to your product or service. So what can female entrepreneurs do to get more clients to say ‘yes’ to their offer?

Build relationships. And one of the easiest ways to start building relationships with your ideal clients is with Facebook Lives.

Today, I explain why Facebook Lives are more powerful than your website. I discuss why being an introvert is no excuse for avoiding Facebook Lives and how they can help you generate more leads and more potential clients for your business. I also share why comparing your beginning to someone else’s middle or end is one of the biggest mistakes you can make when starting Facebook Lives as well as my top tips for getting started.

“Don’t compare someone’s chapter 10 to your chapter one. See where you are in that sliding scale, but don’t let it put you off.” - Lulu Minns

Like many entrepreneurs, freedom is the core reason you started your business. The freedom to work when you want, where you want, and how you want, not to mention the financial freedom that entrepreneurship allows. This is why you decided to leave the corporate world and venture out on your own. But eventually, many female entrepreneurs begin to feel trapped in their business with all of the daily tasks they need to complete to build and maintain their momentum.

So, how do we find that balance between work-life, home-life, and self-care?

Today, I share tips for creating more time and discipline in your business. I share how I design my schedule to meet my business goals and personal obligations as well as my self-care needs. I explain the benefits of planning ahead and scheduling your upcoming workweek and how color-coding your schedule can help you plan your to-do’s and stay on track. I also explain why it’s critical for female entrepreneurs to take a ‘digital detox’ day and how to use your ‘power weeks’ to your advantage.
