Many people in our society are miserable because they are repeating King Ahaziah’s mistake: they look for help in the wrong place. They are searching for strength, fulfillment, comfort and answers to life’s deepest questions. But they go looking for answers from the wrong gods.We need to be willing to hear the message God has for us, not go seeking someone to give us the message we want.

Depression is not failure – it’s a natural part of being human. It doesn’t disqualify us from serving God – but it can help remind us that we desperately need God and others to help us along. Faith is not just a generic self-belief. Not a vague hope that everything will work out if we believe hard enough. True faith is grounded on the firm foundation of God's Word. God had told Elijah what he would do, and Elijah took him at his word. That’s the definition of faith.
