The Indians are going to have a new look in 2018. Well... new “options” for looks anyway. No matter what option they choose, though, it will come alongside a hideously large and in-your-face guitar on the sleeve. Because money.
More importantly, in unveiling their newest jersey selection, the Indians have introduced us to my large headless son, Steven, who will soon be riding around the city of Cleveland atop a bullpen cart if I ever get my way. I love you, son.
Also, the Indians made some trades. The Yankees made some trades. And we want a trade for Joey Gallo. Right. Now.

The Let's Go Tribe top prospect list voting is officially under way! Matt and Brian discuss, and wonder if Greg Allen can manage more than one stolen base in 2018 (hint: probably).
The time following the Winter Meetings right up until pitchers and catchers begin reporting is a notoriously boring time for baseball, and 2017 seems like it’s going to be even worse. As teams prepare their finances to make a run on a slew of big-name free agents in 2018, this offseason remains as slow as can be. Unless you’re the Philadelphia Phillies, of course, who just signed Carlos Santana to a three-year, $60 million deal.
Jason and I discuss that, as well as things you can do to fill your time until baseball returns. Seriously though, if you’re playing Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp hit me up on Twitter. I need more campers I’m serious this isn’t a joke my life is meaningless without them please for the love of god I. Need. More. Campers.
How ‘bout that Melvin Upton Jr.?
With the Winter Meetings underway, there is plenty of Cleveland Indians rumors to talk about. Okay, not really. The Indians have been shockingly (or not shockingly) boring so far this winter, but boy do we really want Carlos Santana to come back.
Also, Bryan Shaw is gone forever. I have a sad.

I have some exciting news I want to share with you all. A new love has entered my life and her name is the World Baseball Classic.
The Cleveland Indians may be technically playing in spring training right now, but all Matt Schlichting, Merritt Rohlfing and I want to talk about is the wonderfulness that is the WBC and all its bat-flipping and crazy stadium atmospheres. So we do just that.
We also discuss the early parallels between Francisco Lindor and Roberto Alomar, and we really really hope Lindor does another bat flip during the regular season.
Matt also teaches us how the Indians could make money with a catfish farm and I suggest the Indians trade for Robinson Cano. Look, things got weird okay?
Questions this week include @grantgw who wants to know our concern level with Kipnis’ shoulder, @SSS_joshnelson who wants to know if Clint Frazier would still have his hair if he never left Cleveland, @ntkingsley who wants us to envision a Salazar contract extension, and Matt McFee who dreams of a Trevor Bauer breakout.

On this week’s episode of Let’s Talk Tribe, we talk spring training... again. At least this time Merritt and I have someone who is actually in Goodyear, thanks to Brittanie Fowler joining the podcast. She gives us insights straight from Arizona and tells of a serendipitous close-encounter with Grady Sizemore.

With Jason officially on baby watch 2017, Merritt joins me for a spring training episode of Let's Talk Tribe that also includes some injury talk, some weird predictions, and some weirder ideas. Sorry about the annoying helicopter sound that appears frequently at the beginning, it goes away and I'm not sure what caused it. Also, please ignore the fact that I messed up the episode number in the intro. But hey, everything is recorded on a shiny new mic!
Merritt and I talked briefly, literally as briefly as possible, about spring training. That includes injury updates on Michael Brantley and Jason Kipnis, as well as pondering on Bradley Zimmer crushing a baseball.
The meat of the episode comes courtesy of Facebook reader Matt McFee who asked us to predict the Indians' 2021 lineup and rotation. We break it down by position and my team would clearly beat Merritt's. @BlessYouBoys also wants to know if Corey Kluber will quit pitching to pursue an acting career, @MattSchlichting wants us to put weird things in center field of Progressive Field, and Banjo Jack who wants to know if the Indians will be aggressive on the bases this season.
Also revealed throughout the episode, we'll be doing a reddit AMA on Thursday on the Indians subreddit, /r/wahoostipi! Join us for all-day Q&A session about the Indians, us, the site, whatever you want to talk about. Several staff members will be present throughout the day as we try to pass the time until April.

The Cleveland Indians are getting the All-Star game in 2019! But for something even closer to today, they signed Austin Jackson. Will he actually stay, or will he be opt out of his contract before spring training?
Jason and I find quite a bit to talk about, which should get us a medal for January baseball discussions. We also talk about the merits of statues — how many is too many, and who should get the next one? Where should the Indians put Michael Martinez’s inevitable bust? All important questions.

It's been a weird week for Indians baseball, which means a lot of weird things to talk about. Even outside of the Indians, baseball in a state of upheaval with the impending retirements of Mark Teixeira, Alex Rodriguez, and Prince Fielder. But hey, at least Tim Tebow is here to save us all.
In this week's episode of Let's Talk Tribe, Matt and Jason discuss the busy trade deadline, including that deal that didn't get done. They also talk about the pitiful Twins series and if it's worth getting freaked out about and preview the upcoming series against the Yankees with Tanya Bondurant of SB Nation's Pinestripe Alley.
It's been way too long since we have had a good 'old fashioned discussion about Indians prospects, so now is that time. With the help of Let's Go Tribe writers Brian Hemminger, Matt Schlicthing and special guest Emily Waldon, we breakdown all the prospects that matter, how they could impact the trade deadline, and who could be an impactful major-league player in the future.
Don't miss this episode.
Matt and Jason discuss the sudden emergence of Tyler Naquin, Jason travels to another dimension where he gets to experience a Jonathan Lucroy trade first-hand, and a whole bunch of listener questions about the trade deadline get answered.
Matt and Jason reflect on the All-Star game, Yan Gomes' terrible first-half, and talk about Pokemon GO for 20 minutes straight. This week's episode clocks in at 64 minutes. Thanks for listening!
How do you solve a problem like Yan Gomes? No one knows for sure, but the solution should probably involve Roberto Perez and his surgically-repaired thumb.
Matt and special guest host Matt Schlichting (who is filling in for a vacationing Jason) ponder the current Indians roster and look ahead to how it could change after the All-Star break.
In this week's episode of Let's Talk Tribe, Matt and Jason discuss the wonderful week of baseball the Indians gave us, the idea of a 30-dinger hitting batter for the first time in almost a decade, and the merits of hitting Juan Uribe in the nuts every six days. It's not as crazy as it sounds.
Brandon Day from blessyouboys.com also joins us to preview the upcoming series against the Tigers and talk about the golden, magical calves of one Mr. Mike Aviles.
In this week's episode of Let's Talk Tribe, Matt and Jason discuss the depressing week's worth of games, including just how bad Yan Gomes and Bryan Shaw have been. It's not all bad, however, as the draft wrapped up on Saturday and the Tribe have a fresh batch of players for fans to track over the next several years and we also got to celebrate the anniversay or Francisco Lindor's call-up.
Are you prepared for the 2016 MLB Draft? If you are not (and you happen to be an Indians fan) you are in the right place! Scout.com's lead draft expert Jeff Ellis joins us to dsicuss the draft and to give us an idea of what to expect from the Tribe when they are up with the 14th overall pick in the first round.
Outside of draft talk, Matt and Jason discuss the wonderful week of games that we were able to watch over the last couple of series. In particular, they discuss the emergence of Tyler Naquin, how Marlon Byrd will not really be missed, and how awful cream jerseys are*.
We also take a couple of your soecial media questions, including a White Sox fan desperate to get himself a piece of Francisco Lindor. No, you cannot have him.
*this is a fact. They are awful. Don't listen to Jason or Craig Clacaterra.
In this week's episode of Let's Talk Tribe, Matt and Jason discuss Cody Anderson's great start, Mike Clevinger's less-than-great start, Jose Ramirez's REAL NICKNAME, and Mark Brown from Camden Chat helps preview the weekend's Orioles series.

We are happy to welcome special guest and Let's Go Tribe writer Phil Kehres to the show this week to discuss oh so many fun Indians things. For one, the Tribe have absolutely dominated the Cincinnati Reds, but how much can we really trust that stats we get from a series such as this? More importantly, how will the Indians do in their upcoming rough series of games against the Red Sox, the White Sox, and the Orioles?
We also discuss Mike Clevinger's debut, our worry levels for Corey Kluber, Joba Chamberlain's greatness, and Phl is a closet Yankee fan. He'll admit it eventually.
Just win several games in row... is that too much to ask, Indians? After another back-and-forth week of baseball, the Tribe finds themselves barely clinging to a .500 record. Even worse, some people in the world still don't know what constitutes a good nickname. Matt and Jason and are here to discuss both topics, as well as get to the bottom of Cody Anderson's problems this season (Hint: everything about him has been terrible).
We also welcome special guest Brandon Warne, Cold Omaha's Minnesota Twins beat reporter and someone that Matt has followed on Twitter longer than he can remember. He helps preview the Twins series, complete with a breakdown of just what has gone wrong in the Twin Cities to this point.
Thanks to @hiramboyd and @mikejschaefer for the Twitter questions, as well as Matt McFee on Facebook. If your question did not get answered in today's episode, be sure to check our Facebook page for an archive of Tyler Griffith's live Q&A where he answered some of the ones we did not get a chance to talk about.
What an emotional rollercoaster this past week was. First, then Cleveland Indians were swept by the Philadelphia Phillies, then they come back in the last series and look brilliant against the Detroit Tigers again. That gave Jason and I plenty to talk about in this week's episode.
We touch on Michael Brantley's return to dominance in the series against the Tigers, as well as Chisenhall's failure to do the same. On the same note, we also talk about how great Carlos Santana has been (again), whether he is leading off or not.
When it comes to the All-Star game, Francisco Lindor will be the American League's starting shortstop. At least one of thinks that cough not Jason cough.
And, finally, Royals Review managing editor Max Rieper joins us to preview the upcoming series against the Royals. With him we discuss expectations for the Royals and when Salvador Perez's knees will turn to shreds with all his playing time.
This week's episode clocks in at 55 minutes. Thanks for listening!
Jason and I had a brief break last week, but Let's Talk Tribe is BACK. We had a lot to discuss this week, some of it good, quite a bit of it bad. The Cleveland Indians swept the Detroit Tigers but made the Minnesota Twins look like a powerhouse. Does it matter?
We also wonder what the heck the Tribe will do with their fifth starter position. Cody Anderson is apparently going to get some more starts in the majors (grumble grumble), but what about after that? Could it be Mike Clevinger or Ryan Merritt's turn to debut? Or maybe TJ House gets another shot?
This week's episode clocks in at 55 minutes. Thanks for listening!

One of these weeks the Cleveland Indians will play a full week's worth of games. Well, that was not last week, so we only had five games to talk about. Luckily, a lot happened in those games -- and a lot happened in the minor leagues -- so we had plenty to talk about.
Joining us on today's episode is fellow Let's Go Tribe writer, Matt Schlichting! He introduces us to a new way to see Jerry Sands, as well as the concept of a Rock and Roll pitcher -- a classification that fits Indians starter Cody Anderson perfectly.
The three of us also look ahead to the upcoming series against the New York Mets. They have been pretty terrible so far, and we can only hope their struggles continues for another three days.
Social media questions today run from wondering why Jesus Aguilar isn't being called up to the all important question of "....Collin Cowgill?"
This week's episode clocks in at 59 minutes. Thanks for listening!
Rain or no rain, some real baseball has finally been played in 2016. One game went the way the Cleveland Indians wanted, the other one... not so much. Jason and I go in-depth with the first two games of the 2016 season, as well as look ahead to the next series in Chicago against the White Sox.
In particular, we talk about what happened in the first two games, what matters in them, and what doesn't actually matter (like the fact that Corey Kluber and Carlos Carrasco didn't look great).
Since this is the first week of the season, we also take several Facebook and Twitter questions, including my own personal weather machine and comparing Mike Napoli to Giovanny Urshela for some weird reason. More importantly to the Indians right now, why doesn't MLB just put all the southern teams as the home teams in April? We have our own theories.
This week's episode clocks in at 50 minutes. Thanks for listening!

Are you ready for predictions?!? Opening Day is just mere hours away at this point, so that means it's time to start giving more of our predictions that will probably be wrong. Last week we answered some random questions about what could happen in 2016, and this week we're giving our full predictions for the AL Central standings as well as our World Series picks.
We also discuss the Cleveland Indians' current roster situation and laugh at how bad the Baltimore Orioles are going to be, despite all the money they spent this offseason. So terrible. So, so terrible.

We are back! After a week-long hiatus due to me being sick, Let's Talk Tribe returns with an episode full of Cleveland Indians talk.Opening Day is rapidly approaching, and that means it's time for the Indians to prepare by adding another outfielder and crowning a fifth starter once and for all. It also means it's the perfect time for Jason and I to make predictions for the upcoming season that will almost surely be wrong.
We missed out on last week's FanPost question, so we made up for it this week by letting Jason tell his legendary Frank Thomas story. I also tell my own traumatic tale of losing a Pittsburgh Pirates hat that was blessed by a parade clown.
Also, of course, we discuss why the Chicago White Sox is just so fantastic to watch from a distance and why maybe have a 14-year-old as your clubhouse leader is not a great idea. Maybe.
Apologies for the frequent Skype screw-ups and my own crackly voice as I recover from an annoying cold. This week's episode clocks in at 65 minutes. Thanks for listening!
We are excited to welcome our first guest onto the show, ESPN.com writer and ZiPS creator Dan Szymborski! Naturally, we talk a lot about projections and how they relate the Indians, and (also naturally) we got a bit sidetracked by more important things -- Ghostbusters, Star Wars, and how to convince people you are related to major leaguers like Gene Larkin.
With spring training well underway, Jason and I also take a moment to be thankful for the fact that there are no injuries so far for the Indians, even if the Detroit Tigers have not been so lucky (although Justin Upton appears to be fine). To us, the luster of spring training games has already worn off a bit, but the light at the end of the tunnel is there, Opening Day is just weeks away.
Special thanks Intro and outro music: I'm A Machine by Glass LuxQuestions from @XCWarrior1 and @Bud58831769 on TwitterAnd of course Dan for joining us on the show.
If the Cleveland Indians could stop having breaking news right after we record a podcast that'd be great. Last week, Abraham Almonte was suspended one day after we recorded, so it is safe to assume something big is about to go down in the next 24 hours.
Otherwise, we will all be left watching this weird form of baseball that is Spring Training baseball, which is perfectly okay with me. Jason and I also discuss important topics in this episode, like Hank the Dog being an imposter and cereal on hot dogs.
This week's episode clocks in at 43 minutes. Thanks for listening!

I don't know about you guys, but I am unironically pumped that the Cleveland Indians signed Juan Uribe. Naturally, I made sure to bring it up on the podcast, and at the very least, we can all agree he is going to fun to write about. There were some other non-Uribe things to discuss of course, such as the fact that goofy Spring Training games are just a week away.
Jason and I also review the Top 10 Indians prospects as voted on by the Let's Go Tribe community, including why Mike Trout and Bryce Harper have ruined everything when it comes to evaluating prospects. We did not go in-depth with numbers 11 through 20 in the podcast, but you can find more on them here.
Also, we asked around for questions to answer and got some pretty interesting ones. If you would like to ask your own (or if you have any feedback), feel free to comment below, @reply us on Twitter, or email mattr.lyons@gmail.com.

We're back! Jason and I have been working on this for quite some time, so it's exciting to finally reveal the "reboot" of the Let's Talk Tribe podcast. In this newish weekly podcast, we will be discussing everything Indians, baseball, and eventually a bit of post-show extras.
In this "first" episode, officially episode 21, we give our thoughts on the Indians offseason so far, Michael Brantley's return schedule, Spring Training battles, and we try to explain why projections systems seem to love the Indians so much. Listen and marvel as I mouth-breath my way through rambling baseball discussions while Jason provides all the real meaningful analysis.
You can find the episode embedded below, on our Blog Talk Radio page, or soon (hopefully) on iTunes. Feel free to email any feedback, suggestions, or questions to mattr.lyons@gmail.com and/or leave them in the comments below. Let us know what you think!
This week's episode clocks in at 40 minutes.
Topics
[01:44] -- Thoughts on the Indians' fiiiiiine? offseason so far
[12:41] -- Michael Brantley pickin' up bats and swinging at stuff.
[17:25] -- The importance of getting to Spring Training on time.
[18:56] -- We talk fashion. Spring Training fashion.
[19:56] -- Notable Spring Training position battles.
[33:24] -- Projections LOVE the Indians in 2016. Can we just play the game on spreadsheets this year?
Special Thanks
Intro and outro music: I'm A Machine by Glass Lux
Host Jason Lukehart and host Phil Kehres discuss the first month of the Cleveland Indians' 2014 season, which ended with a six-game losing streak. Topics include questions about who should be in the starting rotation (call up Trevor Bauer or Josh Tomlin, giving Carrasco another chance?), which players are most and least likely to turn things around (or are already turning things around), and how realistic playoff contention is at this point (the Tribe is already 5.5 games behind Detroit). Plus, what is up with this defense?! Is it Lindor time yet?
Host Jason Lukehart and guest Ryan Richards discuss the first week and a half of the 2014 Cleveland Indians season, including the early returns on Carlos Santana at third base, how Lonnie Chisenhall is being used, the state of the starting rotation, and the somewhat shaky performances of new closer John Axford. Jason and Ryan then talk about what they expect from the team and its American League Central rivals over the course of the season. Can the Tribe make its way back to the playoffs???
Host Jason Lukehart talks with Jonah Keri, lead baseball writer for Grantland and the author of the upcoming book, Up, Up, and Away: The Kid, the Hawk, Rock, Vladi, Pedro, le Grand Orange, Youppi!, the Crazy Business of Baseball, and the Ill-fated but Unforgettable Montreal Expos, which will be released on March 25.
Topics include the creation of the book; the ill-fated 1994 season, which saw excellent years for both the Expos and Indians washed away by a labor stoppage; the Bartolo Colon trade between Montreal and Cleveland; and the upcoming 2014 season.
Host Jason Lukehart and guest Ryan Richards discuss the Indians offseason to this point, starting with the starting rotation and its need for one more arm. Re-sign Scott Kazmir? Bring in Phil Hughes and see what Mickey Callaway can do with him? Talk then turns to the lineup, including newly acquired outfielder David Murphy, the possibility of someone being traded away, and Carlos Santana continuing to be wildly underrated by many Tribe fans... Why people, WHY?! The conversation wraps up with a look at new additions to the 40-man roster, as Cleveland protects some interesting prospects, and finally some speculation on Franciso Lindor's arrival date.
Host Jason Lukehart and guests Ryan Richards and Jay Levin discuss how the Indians find themselves hosting the WIld Card game after a season in which most saw them as a .500 team. What impact have Terry Francona and pitching coach Mickey Callaway had? Which offseason player acquisition has made the biggest difference? Who's the Tribe's MVP this year? Is Danny Salazar the right man for the job in this do-or-die game?
Host Jason Lukehart talks with ESPN.com writer Dan Szymborski, to examine the American League Wild Card race as the season nears its end, and look at what goes into ZiPS, the player/team projection system created by Szymborski. Other topics include what kind of losing team is the worst kind to cheer for, which Indians have overperformed their projections this season, and what it's like to get hate mail when the real villain is a cold, calculating computer that cares not for your human emotions.
Host Jason Lukehart and guest Ryan Richards (and some friends) discuss the Indians' push for Wild Card spot in the playoffs. Ryan joins the show from the Great Lakes brewery in downtown Cleveland, where he's hanging out with a group of Tribe fans before they head over to Progressive Field for tonight's game with the Astros. Jason, sadly, could not join them, and didn't even have an Eliot Ness to enjoy from his living room. Sigh...
Host Jason Lukehart and guest Dean Klubnik (Let's Go Tribe contributor and historian) discuss the Indians' playoff chances, as they sit just 1.5 games back of the second Wild Card, in the thick of a 6-team race for two spots. Other topics include the future of Carlos Santana and Yan Gomes, which starter belongs on the mound if the Indians do make the Wild Card game, and Michael Bourn's comments on attendance.
Host Jason Lukehart and guest Carson Cistulli (editor at FanGraphs) discuss the Indians' playoff chances, and examine the team's starting pitching options for September and future seasons, with special emphasis on Corey Kluber and Danny Salazar.
Host Jason Lukehart and guest Ryan Richards (editor and lead writer at Let's Go Tribe) discuss the Indians' dreadful series in Atlanta, and what it means for their playoff chances as they head into this weekend's showdown in Detroit. Other topics include the surprisingly strong pitching the Tribe has gotten in August... and the awful hitting. For good measure, and to cheer themselves up, Jason and Ryan think back to the 1995 Indians, a team that had no trouble putting up runs.
Host Jason Lukehart and guest Mike Bates (designated columnist at SBNation, co-founder of The Platoon Advantage, writer at Notgraphs) discuss the American League playoff picture, the Indians' starting rotation, Joe Mauer's concussion and whether he and Carlos Santana should continue to catch or move to other positions, and the future of the AL Central (who's the team to beat come 2015???).
Host Jason Lukehart and guest Jason Wojciechowski (who runs Beaneball, ESPN's A's blog and hosts the Back of the Bullpen Podcast) discuss this weekend's series between the Cleveland Indians and Oakland Athletics, the pros and cons of the second Wild Card, 'small market' baseball, Bartolo Colon, and the best Jasons in baseball.
Host Jason Lukehart and guest Adam Van Arsdale discuss the Indians' last couple weeks, sorting through the wreckage of the sweep by Detroit to determine where the season stands as mid-August nears. Other topics include Ryan Raburn's extension, Mark Reynolds' DFA, Danny Salazar, Corey Kluber, and Mount Kilimanjaro.
Host Jason Lukehart and guest Ryan Richards (editor and lead writer at Let's Go Tribe) discuss the Indians state of affairs at the All-Star break, looking back at the first half and ahead to the trade deadline and beyond.
Host Jason Lukehart talks with Clark Fosler of 'Royals Review' about this weekend's series between the Indians and Royals. Other topics include each team's chances of contending after the All-Star break, each team's inability to develop starting pitching over recent seasons, and rebuilding vs. going for it as a middling, small market team.
Host Jason Lukehart and guest Al Beaton of Bless You Boys discuss this weekend's showdown series between the Cleveland Indians and Detroit Tigers, the winner of which will find itself in 1st place Monday night.
This week's guest is Mark Primiano of South Side Sox, Let's Go Tribe's sister blog which covers the Chicago White Sox. Mark and I discuss the wreckage that is this year's White Sox team, which players on the Indians he fears, and the upcoming trade deadline. Mark also comes to the defense of Hawk Harrelson.
This week's guest is Let's Go Tribe writer Evan Dawson, who recently interviewed beloved announcer Tom Hamilton. That interview is discussed, along with Corey Kluber, the bullpen's struggles, and the Indians' chances of making a run at Detroit.
Let's Go Tribe's first ever podcast includes a discussion of the recent MLB Draft, Francisco Lindor, Chris Perez's drug charges, and the Indians' unfortunate losing streak.
