Dwayne was a very fun guest. His biography of Lee Marvin was widely acclaimed, and deservedly so. We yakked about Lee's troubled life, his alcoholism, and his career. Lee was such an interesting guy. Join me to learn all about him. Dwayne also gives me some great tidbits on his interviewees. LOVED his story's about James Doohan AKA " Beam Me Up' Scotty from Star Trek. They had a lot of drinkiepoos and James told him his feeling about William Shatner. Let's just say, he didnt like the guy.

Thanks so much to Dwayne for joining me. Most of all thanks to all that listen. I appreciate it more then you know.

Burt and I had a great time talking about Marlon. We talk his life, his loves, his very unconventional ways. We also talk about the movie The Wild One. It was a perfect movie for Marlon. It's also inspired and still inspiring many rebellious lads in pop culture, like Elvis, the Beatles, and even Herman Munster...vroooom..vroooom..

Thanks Much to Burt. He is such a fun guest.

John's latest book is a lot of fun. He chose some great performances that got no love from The Academy. We discuss some of my faves, including one of my autumn Halloween faves, Rosemary's Baby. Why he thinks Mia should have gotten a nod for her Rosemary..As a PS. She got served divorce papers from Frank Sinatra while on the set..OUCH!

I had a great time as usual as we yakked away.

Thanks so much to John.

I had a wonderful time talking to Burt about the Reel AND Real life tough guy Lawrence Tierney. Lawrence was a fascinating man, who could recite poetry, knew all the classics, and was a brawler with multiple arrests. Was he bad to the bone, just b b bad, or misunderstood? His career spanned decades, with lots of droughts in between. Grab a cup of joe, hot chocolate, a glass of vino, or your beverage of choice and have a listen to the story of this interesting dude..

Thanks so much to the fabulous Burt!!

Stone and I continue our discussion on a couple horror films from each decade 1920's til today..Not much on today's films because in my opinion they aren't that great. We get our Siskel and Ebert on.. HA!! We planned on an hour, but we can yak!

Thanks so much to Stone for being my spooktacular guest. He does his Bela Lugosi and Peter Lorre imatations and he sings us out with Monster Mash. There are some really good flicks for a chilly night. Many, especially the older ones (better ones) are on YouTube. If I link them they will most likely be taken down.

Mostly Thanks to you all that listen.. Extra Thanks to Jamie, Rachel, and dear Daniel.. All three are listeners from England, that have brightened my days!

Who loves all of you baby?

I do!!

Grace

P.S.

Watch out for your fur babies on halloween (of course always) there are some real creeps out there..Of course none of us..: ) My dude is a city kitty, so only supervised jaunts down the hall on my floor..

I found the delightful Brian while I was searching for info on a really creepy B flick, Stark Fear. When I found the blog I spent a couple hours reading Brian's reviews and behind the scenes info. I had watched the Misfits when I was much younger and did not like it. Now that I'm older, know more about the actors, and life I was deeply moved. Clark Gable thought it was his best film. Unfortunately, he died two weeks after filming at the age of 59. Lots of stuff on Marilyn and her marriage unraveling on the set, and on Montgomery Clift, who Marilyn famously said, was the only person she knew worse off than she was.

Brian is from Scotland and had issues with his microphone, but we were able to get his sound up.

Thanks so much to Brian, he's a sweetie. You can find his blog here

My friend Alexis Hunter is back. Did I ever tell you we were really friends?? HA!!!!

Alex's book has been reissued with a new chapter and great pics of her and Joi. WE discuss the silicone injections that helped kill Joi, and the horrible face and body trends that have people running to unsavory "Doctors" and sometimes paying the ultimate price. Big Butts are in, are they now that Kim and Khloe Kardashian have had their butt implants removed?? Silicone and CEMENT are a few of the things that have been injected into women's bodies. Do sex symbols always have to have big breasts? Joi and other's certainly thought so, and were under the pressure for the biggest breasts.

We talk love, dangerous procedures, Alex having a true life after Joi died, which was fifty years ago.

It's fun and also serious about the lengths, mostly women go to, to have face and body beautiful.

I will post pic of cement lady on www.facebook.com/truestoriesoftinseltown

Thanks so much to Alex for being a wonderful guest. Her

I talk to Jerome Charyn, about his Book Big Red. Its fiction, but so much in non fiction. Our narrator is Rusty, a lesbian that just loves her some corduroy pants. Harry Cohn Asks Rusty to become Rita's private secretary, but really to spy on Orson and Rita. True talk about their marriage, the making of The Lady From Shanghai, renting Errol Flynn's boat, his feelings about Orson and Rita, and her unhappy marriage to her second husband. We also talk about Rita's early onset Alzheimers. So much good stuff. Book is fun and sad. Poor Rita.

We talked about Jeromes favorite movie..Citizen Kane, I don't agree that its the best, (I had to put up my dukes) but I don't know which movie is, its all relative..I personally HATE Gone With The Wind, and for a long time critics thought it was the best flick of all time.

Lots of Hollywood info and we never really got all the info on why Jerome does not think Classic Hollywood was "The Golden Age".

Thanks so much to Jerome. He was a delight.

Sloan and I talk about a mutual deceased dreamboat Tom Conway. Tom is indeed George Sanders brother, and people behind their backs called him the nice George Sanders. George was fab in all his films. No one played a better cad. There is barely any info on Tom, but we got some. He was always good in his films, even stinkers like The Bride Of The Gorilla..It's on YouTube..So have a listen and checkout some of Tom's films.

Yes, It's really Rico..Took a bit but it's worth it..

This is a great tale of a guy from Brooklyn, that wanted to be a DR. He moved to L.A. and became a cardiologist and ended up starring in Frank And Ava. You will love Rico...I love that name. He is adorable. We also talked about how playing an icon that everybody knows, and loves is not easy. I believe there is extra scrutiny put on the actor. Good listen.

April and I talk Mother Rose. She was a pushy broad and they truly lived a gypsy lifestyle. Baby June who later became Dainty June ran away with a boy from the troupe at 13, we are not sure of real age. Mama June may have been involved in two murders, and definitely one attempted murder on Junes boy husband..Luckily the gun jammed..and there were no bullets or he would have been a goner. Very interesting lives these three women had, thanks to their tough tomato Mama. Our finale ends with Natalie Woods stage mom.

April was the bees knees taking us through Judy's horrible childhood, from the family being run out of TOWNS, because of her fathers indiscretions with teen boys. Ethel's unrelenting push to make Judy a star. I was kind of low key. I had no idea why. I took Advil before show because I wiped out. After podcast I discovered I took Advil PM by mistake. I'm surprised I wasn't snoring.

On our stage mom series we get to Mrs Temple. She again wore the pants in the family. Mr Temple was besieged by women wishing he would plant his seed (so to speak) in their garden, so they could have their very own Shirley Temple to make a star. Gertrude was not too keen on the idea. Gertrude pushed her little trooper all the way. Shirley was precocious, how couldn't she be and was quite open about her adult co stars mistakes. Some of them wanted to slug her, but decided to wait until her eighteenth Birthday. Unsurprisingly, Shirley earned mucho dinero, also unsurprisingly it was pretty much gone when she hit the age to get it all. Another point to ponder..Is this a tale of a stage mother or a Shirley Bio..April and I debate. I just love April so much.

Thanks to my dear partner in crime, April VeVea. I loves you Baby!!

April and I talk Betty Grable Stage mother Lillian. Lillian had Betty enrolled in dance school at three. She was in talent shows, and God forbid she came in second. Lillian was one pushy broad that wanted stardom for herself (as most stage moms do) but pushed Betty to be a star.

First of all Happy Late Mom's day! I was at family reunion so no computer. Was supposed to post this Sunday..

April and I do part 2 of Stage Moms. Today we talk about Ginger Rogers mom Lela. She would do anything to make her daughter a star, and she did. Ginger as we all know was amazingly talented, she trusted her Lela and Lela was not only her mom, she was her BFF. That wasn't too great for any of Gingers 5 hubby's. Studio execs loathed her, and it's alleged the movie The Hard Way was based on Lela and Ginger. Ida Lupino starred as Joan Leslies big sister that will do anything to make sis a star...and she did.

The picture of Ginger and Lew Ayers in front of their wedding cake..I'll post.. RUN LEW, RUN. Their marriage lasted under two years. Lew thought three's a crowd and literally told her to back to Lela's home..

Again thanks to Deborah for the idea. Our final four are pretty rotten moms. Next up Betty Grable, then Shirley Temple, Natalie Wood, and Gypsy Rose Lee's mom, Rose Hovick..

Thanks to my partner in crime April. You are the best..

April and I are doing series on stage moms. Today we talk Jean Harlows Mother Jean. M Jean loved The Baby, but also wanted to be a star in her own right. It just didn't happen so the baby became a huge star and paid for all her moms bills and for her sleazoid stepfathers as well. Shouldn't a mooching step dad of a star look like a million in his fancy duds?? He certainly thought so. Compared to other stage Moms M Jean was a pussycat. Our later moms, not so much.

Thanks so much to Deborah that emailed me and suggested the topic.

Hope you enjoy.

Thanks of course to April. She is da best.

Looking forward to George Stevens Jr. He wrote a fab book on his dad and his struggle to be his own person. He did that and so much more. He talks the peeps he met in Hollywood, then he made his way to Washington and discusses that. Book isn't out yet, but so well written and I read it whenever I could..

Lance was fab, and I am so intrigued to see how this musical captures the life that was Frances. I heard a couple songs and they were amazing.

Lance was kind enough to offer my listeners a 25% discount. This is Off Broadway so the cost of tickets are not through the roof. If you are in the try state area, or visiting I'd check it out. All you have to do for discount is add TSOT...and its all set.

I talk to the warm, wonderful showbiz gal, Ruta Lee. Ruta wrote a book called Consider Your Ass Kissed..Love that title. Ruta and I taped this just after New Years But As you hear in the beginning we could not salvage the first 6 minutes. Three different people tried but nope, so I am going to go ahead, they did what they could...Thanks guys.. without the missing minutes. The rest of our talk is great. She is a true show biz survivor and talks about some of the wonderful people and roles she had along the way.

This is Ruta talking about what this wonderful charity is. The whole website gives you loads of info.

http://thalians.org/from-ruta.html

You can buy Ruta's book anywhere book are sold.

https://www.amazon.com/Consider-Your-Ass-Kissed-Ruta/dp/1735383449/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3397VN9B8ITI1&keywords=ruta+lee+book&qid=1646838091&s=books&sprefix=Ruta+Lee%2Cstripbooks%2C77&sr=1-1

Her book is also on Kindle. As I said, reading it is like you are with a friend. Lots of great behind the scenes showbiz stuff and Ruta's fascinating and wonderful life.

Thanks so much to Ruta. I deeply apologize for the delay. I test everyone to see how they and we sound. Everyone thats been on my show would tell you that. Also when I start taping I keep an eye on the sound levels. All looked AOK but nope. I sent to one of the best guys in biz, he had lots on his plate but I finally got it back. It really is a fun listen and Ruta is a treasure.

Thanks most o all to my listeners. You are the best.

I talk to my pal John DiLeo. His new book is wonderful. It's amazing how little time these performers had on screen, but they make HUGE contributions to films. WE did about ten...starting with Elsa Lanchester in her appearance (and it wasn't even close to ten minutes and five seconds) in The Bride Of Frankenstein. It's an iconic role and that film and Elsa will go on forever. We talked some really wonderful performances. It was very hard for me to choose.

Thanks so much to the fab John. I always enjoy talking to him. His love and knowledge of movies is contagious.

I could not find this really big shew anywhere. Finally I got t off my old computer. YAY!. I give Dan lots of credit for this book. Ricardo was incredibly private, very unliked by most who acted with him and a very bad husband. I enjoyed the book and was surprised that he was a heel. Lets be fair...not always..but.. Like I said Dan did an amazing job putting this book together without not a lot of help from Hollywood Archives. Its a fascinating story of a mystery guy, who had dirty shirts in his closet..Not IRL..He was quite the fashion plate. January The Fabulous Kay Fwancis was star of the month on TCM. I DVR'd everyone of her films. She worked with Ricardo about four times. I guess she could stand him. Mandalay was my favorite film they made together. Ricardo was a total slime ball in this film. Its a must watch

Boze has been on the show I believe three times. This is Boze's 28th book.. WOWSA. It's very good and lots of info on Elvis. Its quotes people who knew him in childhood, just starting out, becoming a sensation all the way through his death. I learned a lot of things I never knew. Yes, he shot guns at TV's, and had a very young Priscilla move in with him. One thing you can never take away from Elvis is that he is a legend, and no-one could ever be like him.

Christina was such a great guest. I wanted to ask her a few more questions about her book Phantom Lady:Hollywood Producer..The Forgotten Woman Behind Hitchcock. Its a wonderful book and lots of juicy tidbits.

Christina was a good sport, we talked some good girls of Noir, first up Ella Raines, next Betty Shaefer. The million dollar question I asked Christina was did she think Betty would go back to the sweet and actually non stiff, just the facts ma'am, Artie Greene. See what her answer is. We talked before we started and chose a couple extra people. Christina was game. It was a lot of fun.

Question to you all, I love Gloria Grahame as a bad girl, but in the film The Big Heat, she risked her life for Glenn Ford, got scalding coffee thrown in her face. For real, she saved the day. She asked GlennFord about his wife..Don't you dare ask me about my wife. You are not even worthy to use the word wife." Debbie gave her life. AS she was dying after she saved his butt, he started telling her about his wife...What a trooper. She was a good girl.

Check out Christina's author page. I can't recommend Phantom Lady enough.

I loved this book. It talks about Errols great love for his home, his two way mirrors, his alcohol and drug addiction and his love for young chickypoo's. Of course we get into his statutory rape trial. He found his next girlfriend at the cigarette counter in the court house. She was the ripe old age of 18...LEGAL..

WE talk Errols horrible demise. Then Robert tells about the following two owners. One was a Christian music singer, that had tons of kids and grandchildren. His wife was a good Christian woman so she removed the bar...Horrors and put in an organ. They left and next owner was Rick Nelson. His daughter Tracy lived there for a time and said she saw Errol a lot...Of course, she was a young cutie. Rick died on New Years eve going to a gig in an airplane crash.

You will love the chapter on the paranormal happenings in the house. Truly spooky..

Thanks mucho, once again to Robert. He is always a great guest.

Most of all thanks to my listeners. I love you all!!

In the first minute nothing was edited but I guess the download did. SPOOOOOOOOKKKY.. Not much was missed except I explain I've done no musical shows because it's not my fave genre. Never Fear...John is here and he knows them all. We talk Broadway to Screen adaptations. Poor Julie Andrews lost two of her Broadway shows to Audrey Hepburn in MY Fair Lady, and Vanessa Redgrave in Camelot. WE talk dubbing, dueling A Star Is Born, Babs and much more. John chose the topic and he lead the pack and was so great. I learned a lot to.

Thank you to John. You are always Great.

Check out John's authors page. So many great books. One is coming out in FEb. Cant wait to talk about it..

Stone and I were merrily talking horror films. We had gone about 45:00 minutes. All of a sudden I see it only recorded 32.00 minutes. We had to go back to figure where to start off again. Then this piece of wire came out again. It has NEVER happened during one of my podcasts, let alone happen twice. I was on it right away. So I edited and hopefully it flows. Also when I listened, sentences where repeated almost on top of the regular sentence. Very Creepy. It was a spooky spooktacular taping. Stone and I were at it for over 2 and a half hours. I sound it. Sorry. Stone was drinking coffee so he sounded as perky as ever. He does his Peter Lorre impersonation, which is great but his Dracula is fab. I pronounced Stanley Kubrick like Stanley KEWWWWWbrick. Ugh.

Anyhow it was a spooky but fun spooktacular. Thanks so much to Stone for being so great. He is the best.

It's Spooktacular 2021. I'm joined by fellow horror movie lover and my pal Stone Wallace. He joins in with spooktacular laughter and does A Fab Dracula...Bela of course..

We talk movies from the 20's, only two. Then the 30's, 40's and fifties.. I make an embarrassing confession.. I think Stone was secretly disgusted HA! The Wolfman and his clothes. Nostradamus, my mistake, Nosferatu..He was one scary MOFO. Stone tells his fave horror and so much more. WE are doing Spooktacular Part 2, talking about Scary movies from the 60's, 70's and eighties. Lots of good ones.

Sorry for my name mixups. My brain was filled with horror movie fog.

This is Robert's fourth time on the show and the fourth book we've discussed. His latest is Warrior...Audrey Hepburn is a great companion piece to Dutch Girl. Her son Luca called his mom a badass and wanted the world to know all the courageous and kind things she did as the Ambassador Of Unicef. She traveled war zones, met the starving populations of so many countries. During her final visit before she retired from Unicef she visited a place where ten people died in the time she was there. She watched a teen take his last breath. Throughout her years she was a force to be reckoned with. Fragile in size, but not in will, compassion and spirit. Yes, Audrey was more then a badass, she was a Warrior,

We also talk her movies after retirement, her marriages and her finally meeting her soulmate Robert Wolders (her Robbie)who was with Audrey every step of the way. She loved to laugh, have a drink and be in her beloved garden in Switzerland. She adored her sons. This book is a triumph to Audrey in every way. I loved her even more after reading this book.

Thanks so much to Robert for coming on the show again. You are so FAB!

Mostly, thanks so much to all my listeners. You are all the BEST!

I had the wonderful Boze Hadleigh bringing in my new Season. He is wonderful and I LOVED his book Scandals, Secrets, And Swan Songs. Boze has 101 chapters and they are little tidbits about the biggest classic Hollywood stars. We talk suicides, dying from dieting, accidents, murders. You name it Boze has it. This is Boze's 27th book. All his books are great, fun and juicy reading. We talk Tyrone Power, The closet, Monty Clift, Lou Costello, The Mauuuuuuvallous DAhhhling, Tallulah Bankhead. Is it true she had a love affair with Hattie McDaniel and so much more. I think we got to about 11 or twelve chapters so there are about ninety more interesting tales of Tinseltown.

I want to thank Boze for kindly consenting to be my first guest. He may have a new book out soon so I hope we will have another chat coming soon.. He has written so many wonderful books. This one is ultra fab!

Thanks Boze!!

Most of all I want to thank my wonderful listeners. You are the best!!

Our Summer series is ovah. WE both had to postpone for various reasons but I'm posting the day before Fall. Woo Hoo!! April was a trooper because she was not feeling her best. If you notice I do a lot of the yakking, its because of April feeling Crappola.

WE talk Elizabeths life and loves. Her dedication the the Aids foundation. She remained friends with construction worker Larry Fortensky.. I liked him a lot, but the press was merciless. After Larry she never really had another big time romance. Richard Burtons widow asks "How can they be the love of each others when they divorced twice?" They were. Sally was married to Burton for less then a year.

Elizabeth Taylor was called the last of the great movie stars..She was that and so much more. There will never be anyone like her.

Thanks so much to April for cohosting the summer series. She's the cats meow and bees knees...GOOF alert!!

Part 1 of April and I of La liz (April says there's no La Liz) Love April "Just the facts ma'am." WE did this on the day Ed Asner died and mention the big teddy bear. WE talk Elizabeths birth to her child stardom, moving quickly into adult roles. We talk her marriages to brute Conrad Hilton, Older steady guy Michael Wilding, and true scuzz bucket Eddie Fisher. Next up, Richard Burton, her affair with car salesman Henry Wynberg, All's right in the world brief marriage numero dose with Burton, Her love affair with Shah of Iran family member, before his regime was toppled, her marriage to John Warner. Very unhappy time for Elizabeth. She was living on a farm in Virginia. In her unhappiness she turned to food and booze. Finally her marriage to Larry Fortensky. We will go into the end period of this amazing woman's life. La Liz FOREVER.. Dame Elizabeth was some kind of woman.

Thanks April for doing this summer series with me.

April and I talk Sultry Brunette's of Classic Hollywood. This time is our lovely full figured girl (playtex bra commercials)Jane Russell. She was discovered by Howard Hughes and her memoir is very honest. Juicy even. I give her major props on her book.

She talks abortion, infidelity and so much more..If the part about Jane and brief statement was not cut, it was in no way political or judgmental.

April is the best. I love her.

I absolutely loved Joan who has the fab blog Deranged LA Crimes:True 20th Century Tales Of Murder Mayhem, political corruption, and celebrity scandal.

We talked about Clara Bow and her secretary/friend..all I can say is with friends like Daisy DeVoe the more you like dogs. It was a scandal that hit the front page. This is when tales of Clara's romps with dogs and taking on the whole USC football team came into play. We learn where those slimy rumors started. Clara was a good trusting, down to earth person who had more then her fair share of horrible creeps in her life. Joan knows her stuff and it was so fun talking to her. I'm hoping for her to come back on soon with a hilarious Clark Gable scandal.

I talk to the sweetest woman, Sandy Grabman about her book Plain Beautiful: The Life Of Peggy Ann Garner. Peggy had a pretty rough life. Since she was a child her mom was in and out of the slammer. Her whole life was Peggy and felt she was a star too. Peggy's incredibly tumultuous adulthood, drugs and alcohol, and her own daughter doing drugs at eight. Its a fabulous book, but a sad story.

When we did our other podcast, the movie Black Legion had been on TCM the week before. I asked Tom if he had seen it and hadn't. I asked if he would watch it and discuss, and he watched, and we discussed. It's based on a true story and there really was a Black Legion. This film is unfortunately forever topical. Strike fear in people and keep it up and hence you get groups like this. I can bet they had this since cavemen times. Differing Area's cave peeps spoke different grunts, their feet were bigger, who knows. There's aways someone different and people fearing them.

It's a fascinating watch. Bogart is very good and so adorably young as a regular Joe being convinced the foreigners, them, they, are coming for his job, his life style and the American way. He does a great job. He won an award as did the film. Dick Foran was very good and a cutie pie. Ann Sheridan was good also in one of her first films, before she became The Oooomph girl. They whole cast was a winner. It's a good watch, but it definitely is not Singing In The Rain.

On a lighter note we discuss Dick's singing cowboy career. Also, the fight to get Dick singing out on the trails before Gene Autry. Gene beat him to it. I was loving Dick's American Cowboy corral of choral singers. He had a whole posse of back up singers. I hope the bad guys didn't hear. ;  )

It's interesting hearing what an actors son has to say about a movie his dad was in that he just discovered. Tom is a wonderful guest and you will enjoy him as much as I do. He is welcome anytime.

Thanks a zillion Tom. You are fab!! Baby Wyatt is majorly gorgeous.

Mostly, thanks to the audience. Life throws a lot at you sometimes. I'm a when it rains it pours kinda gal, but I come out swinging and stronger. I know you all can relate. Thanks for being so loyal and patient. I love you all!!

This is a new episode I've never put out. I had lots of editing via TCM rule. But I think it flows and Eddie of course is wonderful. I mistakenly call him The King of Noir..Czar, Grace, Czar!! He should be the king as well.

Eddie tells what he never wears. I was shocked I tell ya!!. We talk noir, shoes, Joan Crawford, is Eddie really Marcia Marcia Marcia, to his pal Ben M's Jan Brady?? All this and mucho more..

I want to thank my crush Eddie. He is the best, whether he is the Palooka of Noir, King of Noir or Czar of noir.

You can catch Eddie on Noir Alley every Sunday at midnight and it repeats Sunday AM at 10:00 AM.

Mostly thanks to my listeners. I love you guys..

My pal author John DiLeo and I discuss stars from classic Hollywood that were never nominated for an academy award. I think you will be very surprised about some of the peeps we talk about. We also talk about "Special" Oscars and why are they given only when a person is near death, or in one case, dead.

Sit back with your fave beverage and see if you think They Was Robbed...

Thanks so much to John. I always love him on the show. It's always fun.

I talked to Christina and it was fun and full of info I had never known. The book is fab, it has things you didn't know about Hitchy, and Alma and of course Joan. Hollywood being what it was/is there were whispers that Joan had gotten so far with Hitchy because she provided sexual favors. All I know is Joan was very talented and did a couple of films I really love like Phantom Lady and The Strange Affairs Of Uncle Harry. I found Christine when she was on Noir Alley with Eddie M. I ordered the book directly and loved it and set out to get Joan on the show. She is a delight, lots of fun behind the scene stuff too.

As a PS. I made a mistake about my beloved dulcet voiced Ronald Colman. I confused him with Charles Boyer. Ronald was first choice for the part of Maxim De Winter.

I really enjoyed finding out more about Joan. I know you will too.

I so enjoyed my talk with Tom. We talked Dicks friendships with Jimmy and Duke...Henry Fonda and many others. Dick was in great flicks like Dangerous, The Petrified Forest and a good one for all to check out Black Legion. He did lots of films and television. Was Trigger a diva? Dick's costar horse Smokey, his character's name was Smoke. There was a terrible rivalry between Smokey and Trigger..PS Tom talked after the show about a not nice guy...I'll never tell..I promised..

Thanks so much to Tom.. You were fab. I had lots of fun.

I had a wonderful time talking about some of the movies Jeremy had chosen for his Essentials Volume 2. Sometimes you may wonder, "Why Oh Why, is this an essential"..Jeremy lets you know. This is from The TCM library but you can get it anywhere books are sold. Jeremy had already done Volume 1. The movies are great. These are movies that my comfort guy Robert Osborne chose, along with a coterie of guests hosts, Drew Barrymore, Alec Baldwin and Sally Field. After the death of Robert, Ben Mankiewicz still hosts the essentials today every Saturday night at 8 PM on TCM.

took over. Not only do we get Jeremy's thoughts we get snippets of Roberts and all the hosts. Its a fun read and there are a bunch of movies to check out.

I highly recommend book. Lots of great flicks to check out..

Thanks a zillion to Jeremy, he was fun and so knowledgable. He was patient with my digressions (who me?)

Chris wrote a book that was a love letter to his dad. I enjoyed the book and talking to Chris especially. We discussed his learning disability. The great support he got from Harvey. Harvey never thought he was all that and a bag of chips. He had studied Classical theatre.. Many very big stars came up to Harvey such as Burt Lancaster, Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward and so many others telling Harvey how great he was and that they watched every Saturday night and they could never do what he does. Chris was with his dad through all that. Sad story about Chris meeting Rock Hudson on the set of Dynasty.. Chris has overcome so much. He is a husband and dad and he made his father so proud. Very good listen..THe book is a great read. Chris and I are now pals..He is a true sweetie pie. WE give a shout out to our friend Stone Wallace. All his friends miss him..

Jeremy wrote this book for the TCM collection. He is also author of The Essentials 1 and The Essentials Part 2. Hopefully he will be back in the New Year and we can discuss his choices.

Jeremy chose a variety of Christmas movies. Of course the old classics, he also chose some of the more modern Christmas movies. There are lots of tidbits. I enjoyed it thoroughly. He was a lot of fun and he knows his Christmas flicks. We both have the same fave A Christmas Carol, there could be couple you have never heard of so check on TCM or You tube. I have a few that I love that didn't make the book. One I think you should check out is Christmas Holiday. It is on you tube (so far). Jeremy thought it wasn't really a Christmas movie, but it was during Christmas, there were flashbacks, but ultimately about letting go and being free culminating on Christmas night.. Deanna Durbin was great in her only dramatic role, and Gene Kelly was a charming swine. All of Jeremy's choices are great so its a great read and check out those movies.

I want to thank Jeremy so much for being my guest. He was fab. This was supposed to be out last week, but it was beyond my control.

Most of all I want to thank my listeners. You all are the best. Sorry about my disappearance from Facebook but my eyes really needed/need the break.

I had a great time talking to Lara, she was so forthcoming and a lot of fun. I want to thank my pal David Selby for asking her to come on the show.

We talk Dark Shadows, her feminist witch, then vampire. She talks about biting Johnny Carson and we discussed the horror film she starred in, Race With The Devil, 1975. When I first moved TO NYC it was on Channel 11 and scared me big time. The behind the scenes scoop she gave me was the real horror.. You will be very mad, not at Lara but the production team. It was an informative and interesting show.

Thanks so much to Lara for coming on the show. She was fabulous.

Sloan and I had planned on doing the Gene podcast to be released on her birthday..WE came close. We talk Gene's childhood, her stardom, her marriage to Oleg Cassini,, her daughter Daria that was born severely disabled. If you don't know why, we tell you. It's so tragic. We discuss Gene's years battling mental illness to getting out of Hollywood to live with her new husband, a Texas oilman, that had once been married to Hedy Lamarr. Gene wrote a wonderful memoir and she did not hold back. Mental illness was not to be talked about. Gene did and I'm sure she helped many during their own battles. Not only was Gene beautiful, but she was beautiful inside as well. Grab a cup of joe, tea, wine, eggnog and listen to Genes journey.

Thanks so much to Sloan for being a great cohost and guest. She has just finished another super duper book. Here are a few of her others

John and I discuss how the afterlife, or near afterlife was depicted in Classic Hollywood. Lots of Angels, from Cary Grant to Clarence the lovable guy from It's a wonderful life. I ask the question is there food in heaven?? John does not want to just float on a cloud and play the Harp. WE touch on reincarnation too.

One I forgot to mention is The Twilight Zone Episode A Man And His Dog. Heaven seems like it would be lots of fun. Its a fab episode and The Old Mans Dog actually saves him from taking the wrong road to Hell. The St Peter imposter said dogs were not allowed in Heaven. The dog barked near the entrance and at the man. The Old Man says I won't go to Heaven if you don't take my dog so he keeps on walking. They come across the real entrance to Heaven where his loyal dog is happily joining his guy in the heavenly place.. I love this episode. WE don't see heaven, but it sounds like fun.

Thanks so much to John for being a fab guest once again. You can find all Johns books here.

This was a fun podcast for me, as all are actually. I love Steve McQueen and its truly in his words. Hundreds of quotes with never before seen photos of the cool dude Steve. Marshall has written a couple books on Steve but this gets you right into Steve's head. His rough childhood, becoming an actor, loving riding his motorcycles and racing. He was a self admitted chauvinist and we get a peak into his three marriages. WE also see Steve in his final battle against cancer, after he was told nothing could be done, he went to Mexico to try the controversial treatment of laetrile. Steve died in a little filthy looking room in Mexico seventeen hours after a massive surgery. It is an emotional look at Steve. He was no saint. He was a living breathing cool cat and remains an iconic dude today.. Join us on a journey into Steves life in his own words.

Thanks so much to Marshall. He was fab and so easy to talk to. I love the book.

I talk to my friend Alexis Hunter about her book Joi Lansing..A Body To Die For..A Love Story. Its the story of Alex's love of her life who she met when she was 22. Joi was a sex symbol, a glamour puss deluxe, singer and comedic actress. Joy was in her early forties and the time was 1970's. Blonde bombshells were out and the groovy look was in. Alex takes us through their friendship that turned into love. Joi's battle with cancer and a warning to beware what you have put into your body. In Joi's case silicone injected directly into her breasts. Read, read ,read about anything you may be thinking about using. The book is touching, funny at times, and of course sad. Its a very good read.

Alex is now designing jewelry.

Sparks flew on the set of Cleopatra and it was a relationship filled with passion and pain. Part 1 we discuss their meeting, the back and forth on Richards part on whether he should leave his wife Sybil. Elizabeth had no doubts of kicking Eddie to the curb (who would). I talk to Roy Widing about his book..Sluggy: Bogies Other Baby.. Mayo Methot-Star Of Stage, Screen And Wife Of Humphrey Bogart.

I loved Roy's book because I am a fan of Mayo's. A lot of people have not seen her work but if you can catch Virtue, it was on YouTube or the movie where she and Bogie fell in love Marked Women, 1937 you will see her talent and vulnerability shine through. Mayo was Bogarts third wife, the wife he left for Lauren Bacall. She gets a bad wrap because she drank a lot, as did Humphrey. They were known as The Battling Bogarts. He gave her the nickname Sluggy. He also named his boat after her...Sluggy. They were a love match. He liked, loved and admired her. Mayo was bright, talented and made him laugh. The alcohol got the best of her. She pretty much stopped working when she married Bogart. He was not the huge star he became when they married, but became one during the marriage. Find out the truth behind their marriage. Bogart was no abused husband to be sure. He was an equal participant. The book is great and you will find out a very bittersweet tidbit towards the end.

Thanks so much to Roy for being a great guest. Roy is a very talented songwriter as well so we played ourselves out with his wonderful song, Girl From The Past. It's swoon worthy..

Most of all thanks to my listeners. I so appreciate you all.

It's not really a spooktacular but we talk about the loveliest witch in classic TV, Elizabeth Montgomery. We discuss her privileged childhood being the daughter of Classic Movie Star Robert Montgomery, her four marriages. her up and down relationship with Agnes Moorehead. We talked dueling Derwoods and find out why Dick York left and which Dick Elizabeth liked better. Elizabeth was the queen of TV movies until she died of colon cancer at the age of 62. I talk to Boze Hadleigh, Hollywood historian and author of so many great books on classic Hollywood and classic gay Hollywood, about his new book Inside The Hollywood Closet: A Book Of Quotes.

We discuss the closet, bearding, and the horror of being found out that you were gay in Old Hollywood. Today it's much different but leading men still do not dare come out of the closet. We talk why do we care so much who was gay, or if someone was gay, or think it's horrible if someone says someone is gay. We talk rumors, quotes and so much more. As I always say I don't personally know if someone was gay, I wasn't there and they didn't tell me, hence, allegedly. For history sake does it really matter???

I had such a great time talking to Boze. He was great and fun and so knowledgable.

I had fun discussing with Stephen and Michael, their book Cinema '62 The Greatest Year At The Movies... When I first read the title I did a doubtful hmmmmmm. They make great points and the movies were pretty fabulous. We talk Lolita, would it be made today? The Manchurian candidate and brainwashing. Baby Jane and so much more. It was a year of very provocative films thats for sure. One thing I know is if it wasn't the best it was pretty close.

John and I discuss some movies you might have missed, or skipped because of its title. Dodsworth sounds like a snore, but is fab fab, mail order bride Loretta young with two hunks fighting over her, would you live this year over and if so, could you change the cause of events.. Lots of good flicks.

Thanks much to John. He's a great guest. I love having him.

Three times a charm with my guest Robert Matzen as we talk about his book Mission:Jimmy Stewart And The Fight To Save Europe. We learn all about James time as a pilot in World War 2 and the horror he experienced. His PTSD, his outlook on life and Hollywood after the war. We also talk about Jimmy's love of A List actresses, who he almost married, his affair with Marlene Dietrich resulting in pregnancy than an abortion. Jimmy was known as quite the ladies man...WHO KNEW?? Not me..

I want to thank Robert for being my guest again. This was his third visit and he's just great.

Mostly I want to thank my listeners. You all are the best.

On part 5 of iconic love stories of classic Hollywood my pal April VeVea Whitaker and I discuss Pin up Betty Grable and Harry James. They both had crazy childhoods. They met and it was KABOOM. The problem was Harry was still married to wife numero uno and Betty was involved in a two year on and off relationship with George Raft. After some drama they married. Harry was on the road a lot and Betty stayed in Hollywood doing movies. They both got addicted to booze and gambling. Their daughters definitely did not think Betty was Mommy Bestest. She was distant and could sometimes be abusive. Harry was away he got to be Disneyland dad. There was infidelity, IRS problems and after a while absence did not make the heart grow fonder. Betty found out about Harry's infidelity (she had heard rumors but chose to ignore them) in a gossip column so that was it after 22 years of marriage. We talk after the divorce up to their deaths. We believe they loved each other up until the end.

My cohost April VeVea Whitaker and I discuss Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz and their tumultuous love story. Desi was a compulsive womanizer but thought "How could she/Lucy be mad, they're only hookers." Nice try Desi. They stuck it out for twenty years. The divorce broke not only their hearts, but millions of their fans. We discuss how they met, their whirlwind romance, their success with Desilu and finally their divorce. Each remarried but we like to think they loved each other til the end.

Thanks mucho to April for doing this with me. I love that Ms VeVea.

In part 3 of iconic romances of classic Hollywood we discuss Tracy and Hepburn. They have been controversial since Scotty Bauers book came out and said he had sexual contact with Spencer. First he told Katherine Hepburn biographer he fixed Katharine up with one woman, then he changed it to about 120..In the Katharine book the author claims they were beards for each other. We say, poppycock..HA! He stayed married until the day he died and K and S never went out publicly. That doesn't mean its not possible about their sexuality, but beards no way. Regardless we admire both very much and I believe they loved each other. So give it a listen..

Thanks so much to April for being my partner in crime for the series..She's the best.

Irene is not kidding about having many lives. We talk her coming from China to USA, and finding acting success at a very young age. She dated Frank Sinatra for two years after the divorce from Mia. Frank even brought her to meet Mia. Find out how that went. We talk her time with Elvis, turning John Wayne down for a drink in his trailer, her long relationship with actor/comic Dick Shawn, what it's like to get a piggy back ride from James Stewart and so much more. Irene went on a date with Jay Sebring, and met Sharon Tate, very soon before the murders. There is so much great stuff in her book that we couldn't get to. It's a light, fun, summer read kind of book. She even was in a beach movie with Frankie and Annette and Buster Keaton..

Check out the book. It's selling everywhere.

We talk the very iconic and much written about love story of Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. They met when Lauren was 20 and Bogie was 45. A huge age difference but it worked. We talk Bogarts guilt about leaving Mayo "Sluggy" Methot. They married and life was exciting. Lauren learned the ropes of Hollywood through Bogies pals and became one of the boys. Bogie at first was not keen on kids, but they had two. We talk their life, their loves, flirtations. The end of their love story came when Bogie was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. We discuss Laurens search for love after his death. They had it all....but did they?

I had so much talking about to my dreamy David. Yes, he is still well known by so many from Dark Shadows, but in this podcast we talked about his making a movie with Babs Streisand, how he became pals with Joanne Woodward through Dark Shadows and her Mom. Having a cold brew with Paul Newman. George Cukor directing Rich And Famous starring Candace Bergman and Jaqueline Bisset. George loved David with longer hair. Davids meeting with Cary Grant, some of the great guest stars from Falcon Crest. Gina Lollobrigida was quite fond of David and invited him to Italy. You will have fun listening to his stories, I know I did.

I had a great time talking to my friend Laurie Jacobson about her new book TV Dinners..40 Classic TV Kid Stars Dish Up Favorite Recipes And Memories. We had so much fun catching up and talking about her book. She knows all the folks in the book because she became a member of the kid stars family after she married Jon Provost, who was Timmy in The Lassie Show. There are so many of our faves. Veronica and Angela Cartwright. They were from England and both so talented. You remember Veronica for her amazing performances in The Birds and The Children's Hour. Veronica continued acting as an adult. I've just recently been watching The X Files..I know 20 years later. Veronica had a major recurring part. Angela was known for Make Room For Daddy, Lost In Space and The Sound Of Music. She is now a wonderful artist. Lots of scoops.

We talk the Leave It To Beaver Crew..Larry Mondello was missing, now he's found. The Walton's The Brady Bunch, The Dick Van Dyke show, My Three Sons and so many more. They all give fave food as kids, then give yummy recipes as adults. It will make you long for wonder bread, peanut butter and Marshmallow fluff.

This is a fun podcast for these crazy days. I read the book curled up and just enjoyed seeing what happened to all these wonderful kid stars that have brightened many a generations day.

I thank Laurie so much for coming on. We did a few scoops ourselves. She is so much fun and I love her.

Mostly thanks to my listeners. I'm so excited to have heard from people that have just stumbled across the podcast.

I talked to my pal Sloan about movies that show there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Some are from the depression era, WW2, and others various time periods. It was not gloom and doom. I think they are very good films.

We did this at the beginning of pandemic. Me being in the Manhattan terrified me. Sloan too as she is in L.A. I got the virus and fortunately it was not bad enough to have to be hospitalized (thankfully) Not saying it was a walk in the park either. I am much better and am finally putting this out.

Listen to the calming voice of Sloan. Turn down volume when I come on. I admit to drinking wine without food in my stomach so I sounded nasal and horrible. I'm so sorry. I horrified myself. TRUE..I learned my lesson. Voice lessons and no wine.

I talk to author Carl Rollyson on his fab biography on one of my faves and I believe very underrated Dana Andrews. It's called Hollywood Enigma..Dana Andrews. Its a great read.Carl had access to Dana's journals that he wrote for ten years, and much info given to him by Danas Daughter. Find out how sensitive Dana was. He saved love letters, loved his wife and family. Dana was not perfect, he was an alcoholic. His wife filed for divorce to shake Dana up to get help with his drinking. He did. They stayed married. Funny stories about Joan Crawford and Dana. Alice Faye and her big time crush on Dana, while filming Fallen Angel. The tragic death of his youngest son and his one known infidelity. He was a private guy that loved his family, but has his demons.

Thanks so much to Carl for being a great guest.

I talk to author and friend Stone Wallace on the 5 best gangster films of the 1930's...or at least the ones we thought were. There were so many great ones to choose from. We chose the big movie gangsters, James Cagney, George Raft, Bogie, and Paul Muni. Check to see if you agree with our choices.

As an oops, I called Bogarts character in The Petrified Forest Duke Manatee. I know its Duke Mantee. I guess I was having a wistful moment thinking about those adorable chubby sea creatures the manatees, they are also known as sea cows. Welp. Mantee is not a Manatee.

Thanks so much to Stone Wallace. He sure knows his gangsters, movie and real life.

Thanks most of all to the listeners. I have to post more. I have some ready to go and a couple that need editing. Also greetings to the new listeners that found me. Please be safe in these crazy times. Stay safe and isolate.

Robert talks about Audreys young life before and during The Nazi occupation of The Netherlands. More than anything Audrey loved to dance so her thoughts of dancing helped her through the hunger and the horror. Audrey actually danced and was given money which she promptly gave to The Resistance. Learn about her hunger, her Nazi sympathizers parents. Her father was held in a jail in England during the war. He later was exiled to Ireland which like Switzerland was neutral. Her mother met Hitler and was like a giddy schoolgirl. She kept her autographed gold frame photo of she and Hitler til the end of her life. In the beginning days of the takeover of the Netherlands her mother had a nazi boyfriend. She allegedly stopped in 1942 being a sweetheart to the Nazi's. Audrey loved her parents but was horrified as well.

As an adult Audrey did not talk much about her days in World War 11. She would always remember a specific act of the Nazi's that was perpetrated against her uncle and 4 more innocent men. Audrey also lent her help to the United Nations. Her last trip to Somalia had been very hard on her. Soon Audrey was diagnosed with cancer and died. She was an amazing woman and Robert captures her life so vividly.

Thanks so much To Robert. He is a wonderful guest.

I talk to Author Dan Van Neste about his book, They Coulda Been Contenders:Twelve Actors That Should've Been Cinematic Superstars. Dan picks twelve shoulda's and coulda's. Included the wonderful Zachary Scott best known as Monte Berigon in Mildred Pierce, Marian Marsh, Gloria Stewart, who had a comeback at 86 in The Titanic, John Hodiak best known for Alfred Hitchcocks, Lifeboat. We discuss his marriage to Anne Baxter and his tragic early death and so much more. Dan also got to interview many of those profiled and we get to know some really great behind the scenes stuff. I enjoyed Dan thoroughly as I did his book.

In this podcast John Dileo and I chose movies for anti Valentines Day. Ones that will not make you feel bad if you are watching alone, or worse, with someone you'd rather not be with. We both love Romance and wonderful classic Romance movies, but since I was a kid I hated how just one day a year could make people feel rotten if they don't have their Clark Gable or Ava Gardner..Or even John T Doe. It's a day where we must be consumed with cards, triple the rate flowers and heart shaped candy that is probably from last year. I have celebrated V day, but only because the people I was with wanted me to. But I always insisted on low key and they'd get Hershey's kisses the next day. I believe if you are in love every day is Valentines day. Not just this industry made day to make people feel like crap. So know there are others that think of it as just a day. There are others on social media that you should just pass on by because they present a perfect package of, 'look we are so in love, and we're cute and he's drinking champagne out of my shoe'...take heart, they will probably break up in a week. Be good to yourself. Happy UnValentines Day. Also Happy Valentines day to those who actually Love it..

Thanks so much to the very knowledgeable and fun John DiLeo. He always makes great choices and me laugh.

Mostly thanks to the listeners. I so appreciate you.

I enjoyed talking to Howard Johns about his book A Stolen Paradise. Its a wonderful look at what went on behind the scenes of making The Night Of The Iguana. It had a wonderful cast, Richard Burton, Ava Gardner, Deborah Kerr, Sue Lyon, Grayson Hall. Of course Elizabeth accompanied her Richard. The tabloids were saying would Richard go with Ava or Sue. Guess what, he stayed with his Elizabeth. There was lots of drinking, some drama, throw in John Huston and Tennessee Williams, what a story. You will enjoy podcast and the book.

I want to thank Howard Johns for being so terrific.

I talk to Robert Matzen about Carole Lombard and her fatal plane crash. He tells us theories on the flight. How Carole flying or taking the train was chosen by a toss of a coin. She and Clark Gables life up to the crash and Clark after the crash. Is it true the fight they had before she left was about Lana Turner? Carole was the first Hollywood star going on the road to sell war bonds. She sold millions of dollars worth of them. Robert not only talks about the loss of Carole, her mom and Otto, but of all the doomed passengers on flight 3. Certainly not a feel good podcast, but filled with loads of info we never knew. How such a beautiful, vital woman's life was extinguished on the side of a mountain in Nevada

Chris was great. I loved her book. I loved Chris. She was the baby of the Costello family. She talks about the death by drowning of Lou Costello JR. Who was only 1 year old. Lou had asked Anne to keep the baby up so he could hear his dad on the radio. When he was told he raced home because he could not believe it. Lou went back to the studio to record the show so Lou Jr could hear him in heaven.Lou was never the same after that. She talks how her mother in law and others blamed Sue's mom Anne for the death, She retreated into alcohol as she and Lou could never talk about the death of her child. Anne felt guilty as well but it was not her fault.

She talks about the partnership of Abbott and Costello. Why they really broke up, and did Lou REALLY pay for Dean Martin's nose job.

Chris was the person her father waved help to before his collapse. Sue also found her mother dead on the kitchen floor. She died of an apparent heart attack, nine months after Lou's death also of a heart attack. Chris was only 8 years old.

Chris is now doing her own podcast and we were going to cross promote but Sue is crazy busy.

I wanted to ask about Lou wanting to change the teams name to Costello and Abbott and the studio wisely refused. Lou was a very complex man. Generous to a fault. He added so much laughter to the world.

Thanks so much to Chris

April and I finish our history of Blonde Bombshells series, with Marilyns final days, the day of her death and the various theories on how she died. Was it suicide, unintentional suicide, or murder.

April did a two year radio panel discussion where they read numerous official papers, and much research. April believes Marilyn either committed suicide, or accidental death. Given her intensive study of this specific subject I very much respect her opinion. Buddy Gekko AKA Buddy Grecco not so much. How convenient this photos were destroyed in the world trade center on 9/11. In a couple months I will have someone who believes her death was much more nefarious than April. I know the two sides are equally adamant. AS I said I respect all of Aprils opinions because of all her intensive research. All I know is that Marilyn was the bombshells of all bombshells. She had charisma and a radiance that jumped off the screen. Men, loved her , so did women. She was beautiful and lonely. Men used her. However she died, she left this world way too soon.

Thanks so much to April for doing this series with me. She is so great.

April VeVea is with me again to talk about our fifth blond bombshell (April calls her a pocket bombshell) Veronica Lake. We talk Veronica's rapid rise to stardom and her rapid decline, which was hastened by her alcoholism and mental illness. Veronica was disked by many of her peers and directors. She may have been a pocket bombshell, but she was a tough one. After Hollywood Veronica did some theatre and television shows then she just disappeared. She was discovered by a customer she had been waiting on at a bar. She was back in the limelight. She wrote a book and thought Hollywood would be calling her back. She was wrong. WE talk her final years and dying of liver disease caused by her alcoholism at the age of 50.Â

My summer series The History Of Blonde Bombshells has one more blondeshell to go after Gloria Grahame, The finale will be the greatest blonde bombshell of them all, Marilyn Monroe. Thanks to April VeVea for being my guest for the series. She's fab..

Gloria was the queen of 50's noir. I absolutely love her. Gloria could be funny, poignant, a great southern dame, in The Bad And The Beautiful, she won best supporting actress Oscar. She had lots of insecurities about her looks, especially her lips. She's be in heaven today with lip injections. She thought her top lip was too small so Gloria would stuff tissue in her mouth to give her bigger lips, she also used cotton. Talk about dry mouth. Se had repeated surgeries until finally the surgeon hit a nerve and her top lip was paralyzed. I thought Gloria was gorgeous regardless. She was married to director Nicholas Ray. Their marriage was falling apart while he directed and she starred in A Lonely Place. The set was no fun. Humphrey Bogart was upset he did not get his wife Lauren Bacall to be his costar. The HUGE scandal were reports that Nicholas Ray walked in on Gloria and her stepson (age thirteen) in bed together. Anthony was sent away and Gloria Was divorced. She made a bunch of great noirs like The Big Heat and Sudden Fear with Joan Crawford. To say the women didn't get along is an understatement. Then came another scandal involving Anthony Ray. Gloria at age 35 married her former stepson aged 22 in 1960. It made a great Hollywood scandal and led to a bitter child custody battle with former husbands. Anthony and Gloria were married, had two children together and eventually divorced. Her marriage to Anthony was the longest, lasting 14 years. Gloria was a strong woman but cancer eventually got her. She died in NYC at the age of 57.

Thanks so much to April.

My guest for The Blonde Bombshell series, April VeVea and I talk pin up queen Betty Grable. I have to admit musicals are not my favorite genre so I have not seen many Betty movies. Betty was another Blondeshell that had an incredibly pushy stage mother. She was truly awful. Betty became a star pretty early. She dated the notorious womanizer Artie Shaw, little known to her, Artie was also dating Judy Garland. Both were shocked when they found out he married Lana Turner. This guy was something else..Betty dated George Raft for two years, waiting patiently for him to divorce his wife. She realized it was never going to happen. She met Harry James at the Hollywood Canteen and the rest was history. We talk Betty's career, marriage, children. It's a good show. Lots of Betty things I never knew before.

Thanks so much to April for joining me.

I've done a couple episodes on Mae. April VeVea, old Hollywood Historian, and blonde bombshell expert Joins me and we focused on Maes later years. She really was the eternal blonde bombshell. She was 83 year old in starring in Sextette. She was playing a 28 year old. Go Mae. She lived life on her own terms, was a feminist and a one of a kind woman. She was unique, funny and WE both love her.

I want to thank April for doing the bombshell series with me. She's the best.

Mostly thanks to the listeners. You all are the best.

In the second podcast of the history of Blonde Bombshells, once again I'm joined by my friend April VeVea, classic film and classic blondes historian. She is also a blonde bombshell expert to talk about Thelma Todd. We delve into her life and career but mostly discuss her mysterious death. WE go into all the possibilities. Thelma was gorgeous, funny and beloved. Another tragic blonde bombshell. Her death is still subjected to debate today. We will never know the absolute truth.

Thanks to April, for being such a great guest and doing the BB series with me.

Mostly I thanks the listeners. You are the best..
