DEVA OBIDA

DEVA ОBIDA is a poetic and mythological image of an old Slavic Goddess, the black Swan Maiden… It’s the foreboding of an imminent disaster, the personification of the deepest grief and tragedy, the personification of despair and overpowering sadness in the life of every person. This image embodies the pain of a whole nation, the understanding of the supreme beauty, and the fatal power to destroy. It’s also a bright and vivid symbol, chosen by a group of people, united in the shadow of the Swan’s wings, to represent their music…

The members of DEVA ОBIDA are creative, dedicated, ambitious people, experienced in music. They have performed in the biggest clubs of Moscow and St. Petersburg; they have shared the stage with such leaders of world extreme music as Amorphis, Eluveitie, Sybreed, Illdisposed, Suidakra, Gods Tower, Amatory and many others. This group consists of like-minded persons; they feel the same way about the key aspects of creativity and the ways to manifest them in music. They are united by a similar perception of reality, by having a clear understanding of what they want to communicate through their sound, and which is equally important, through the lyrics.

Unwilling to compromise, the music of DEVA ОBIDA is a blend of sincerity and aggression, where emotions, melody and lyrics can’t be separated from one another. It’s the sadness and the insanity of sudden happiness; it’s the aura of something precious but lost forever, the euphoria of elation. Some describe their sound as bright, technical melodic metal with lyrical elements of folklore. Their music certainly bears the imprint of various styles, from death and modern metal to progressive and world music, but at the same time remains individual and unique.

The lyrics of DEVA ОBIDA are the poetry of Nature and of the free spirit; the words, thoughts and feelings of a Human; the pain, anger and honesty of a Beast. There’s nothing to add, and it wouldn’t make sense anyway – just listen, and you will hear everything for yourself…
