Jesus rose from the dead and became the firstfruits of our resurrection. Yes, we too will one day be resurrected. A right understanding of this motivates the Christian toward fruitful and vibrant ministry. A misunderstanding or unawareness of this hinders fruitfulness in ministry.

God’s purpose in the election of His people is a gloriously wonderful and mysterious doctrine.
Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the apostle Paul states some hard truths to his readers in Romans 9:1-14, even saying that God loved Jacob and hated his brother Esau. Paul then defends God’s righteousness in His election of His people by bringing up two stories from the book of Exodus to support this teaching.
In this sermon, Pastor Kyle shares some of his battles with this doctrine over the past several decades. He also makes it clear what this means for God’s Church and what it does not mean, especially as it regards the ministry of evangelism. Many misconceptions abound concerning God’s election of His people.

Paul’s heart is breaking because his fellow Jews that didn’t believe in Jesus have forfeited the promises and all that God had for them in the gospel. HAS THE WORD OF GOD FAILED? Can God be trusted?
Yes! He can be! Paul says that all Israelites aren’t true Israelites! In this sermon on Romans 9:1-14 Paul unpacks this idea. Paul makes his argument by interpreting two stories from the Old Testament and then quoting Malachi 1 where God says “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”

SB 20, The Care for Women, Children, and Families Act, will likely become law in NC this week. It bans abortions after 12 weeks gestation. Any honest person that evaluates this bill with the Word of God will see that SB 20 should be rejected. It is an unjust piece of legislation. It will save very few babies and it falls short of God’s command to stop oppression and bring the sword against evil doers.

Paul contrasted law and grace back in chapter 5. In chapter 6 he taught us all about grace in the Christian life. Now, in chapter 7 he teaches us all about the law’s place (or lack of place), in the christian life.
He teaches that we are dead to the law and now belong to Jesus. We now serve in the new way of the Spirit. This changes everything!

Paul says that sin will not dominate those who are under the grace of Christ. He also says that we should not go on sinning because we are now under God’s grace. Grace is not a license or excuse to sin.

Last week we learned that we are united to Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. This is the indicative, or what God has already done. This week we cover our part, or our responsibility in the fight against sin.

The citizens of Tyre and Sidon began to worship King Herod and the King received it. The citizens where guilty of idolatry and Herod wrongly received worship as if he were God. God’s judgment fell on the King and he was eaten by worms.

Wonderful things have happened in Caesarea for Cornelius and his household. Now Peter gets back to Jerusalem and has to face criticism for going into a foreigners home and eating with them.
Peter answers their criticism by telling them all that had happened. They are persuaded that what Peter did was a good thing and they see God’s good and providential hand in it all.

Peter was telling Cornelius and his household the good news of Jesus Christ and his kingdom. Then suddenly, God’s Holy Spirit fell upon those who were listening and they began speaking in tongues and praising God. Then they were baptized.

God had made it clear long before the events of this passage that He would bless all the nations of the earth (Gen. 12:3). Isaiah had prophesied that God would do a new thing, that He would make a way in the wilderness, that He would make rivers through the desert, and that wild beasts would honor Him (Is. 43:18-20).
All of this is being fulfilled in Acts 10. In this chapter God arranges a meeting between Cornelius, a devout Roman centurion, and the apostle Peter. The Gentiles are about to believe the gospel and become part of the family God. This is one of the most important moments in all of church history. The nations are beginning to come to King Jesus.

In this third and final message in response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade, we look into what the scriptures teach about human sexuality and sexual sin.
It was God’s plan from the beginning that sex is to be enjoyed by one man and one woman who have entered into the holy covenant of marriage. All sexual activity outside of this is wicked.
Those who believe that abortion is a right feel that something has been taken away from them. Now that some states are making it harder to obtain an abortion, the consequences of sexual promiscuity are higher. Depending on where someone lives, if they conceive, it may be much harder to murder their baby and they are more likely to have to carry their child to term and raise their baby. For some, the days of an easy out of parenthood are over.
What is the job of the church? We are to not participate in sexual sin and we are to work hard to expose the unfruitful works of darkness in our land (5:11). As we point our flashlights at the evil in our world we are to call people to arise for the dead (5:14) and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ who loved us and gave himself up for us (5:1).

Children are a gift from God, they are part of our inheritance and the man who has many is blessed.
Many people today (Christian and non-Christian alike) do so much to avoid having children and miss out on God’s blessing. Repentance is needed. We have no need to worry that we can’t take care of them for it is the Lord who builds the house. We have no reason to be concerned about having too many for it is the Lord who watches over us.
Children are God’s means to conquer evil in our world today and usher in the kingdom of God.

The evil and unconstitutional 1973 SCOTUS ruling Roe v. Wade has been overturned. This is a huge step in the right direction for our nation but there is much more work to do.
All 50 states had the opportunity to defy Roe these past 49 years but they chose to implement incremental legislation that makes it legal to murder their babies. These unjust, iniquitous decrees (Isaiah 10:1) must now be struck down and replaced with laws that provide all people with equal protection from the moment of fertilization until natural death. If our nation fails to do this we will most certainly reap judgment (Jer. 22:5).

None of us would be content with a calculator that doesn’t have a multiplication button. Why are we ok with a church that doesn’t have one?
How does multiplication work in God’s kingdom? How can the church go beyond merely adding members and see multiplication?

Paul met Jesus recently and is quickly launched into ministry. He is now trying to build up the faith that he once tried to destroy.

The Doctrine of the lesser magistrates states that when the superior or higher ranking civil authority makes an unjust/immoral law, policy, or court opinion – the lower or lesser ranking civil authority has both the God-given right and duty to refuse obedience to that superior authority; and if necessary, actively resist the superior authority.

Saul was the first King of Israel, Jonathan was his son and Michal was his daughter. David was a shepherd and musician who entered King Saul’s service. The relationships between these four got very, very complicated.
In this sermon we see how civil authorities are to interpose against evil, unrighteous civil authorities. In this case, Jonathan had to stand against his father and king because King Saul was trying to kill David.
This sermon is the first of two that presents what has become known as the Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrates. The Doctrine of the lesser magistrates states that when the superior or higher ranking civil authority makes an unjust/immoral law, policy, or court opinion – the lower or lesser ranking civil authority has both the God-given right and duty to refuse obedience to that superior authority; and if necessary, actively resist the superior authority.

God created civil government as a very good thing with a very good purpose. As is true of everything in our world, sinful man took a good thing that God has made and corrupted it.
What is God’s purpose for civil government? How do God’s people live when the government drives out of its lane and overreaches into the private and personal lives of individuals and institutions? Interposition defined in its broadest sense means protecting someone from the attacks of another. The scripture is filled with commands to do this, two of our favorites are Prov. 24:10-12, “Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter” and Jesus’ command to lover our neighbor.

In Romans 3:21-26 Paul makes it clear that God’s righteousness is only received by faith. Paul then anticipates how some who hear this teaching would respond. In this passage Paul asks, "What about boasting?" He asks is God the God of Jews only, or is He the God of everyone? He then says that the law of God is not overthrown, but actually upheld, or established, by the doctrine of justification by faith alone.

This week Paul brings up two advantages the Jews had over the other nations and tells them that those two things don’t get them to heaven. God’s law and circumcision don’t make a Jew a child of God. It is something else altogether that is necessary.

Participation. It is what all of God’s people are to do. God has called each of His children to participate in the work of ministry.
At Hope Fellowship we are working hard to create a place that encourages participation. Instead of looking at the back of everyone else’s head and other people looking at the back of your head for an hour, it is time that we turn the chairs around and get to know each other. Instead of the pastor being the only one who handles the Bible on Sunday morning, we should all be digging into it and we should do it together.

God doesn’t play favorites and religious people don’t have any excuses for their sin. In fact God judges all people according to the same standard (2:6). Religious people (like the Jews in this passage) and non-religious people (like the Gentiles in Rom. 1) will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. We have no excuses and God doesn’t play favorites. He judges all people the same way.
This is good news for us all. God is a God of justice and He does not discriminate.

In Romans 1:24-32 Paul continues to show how God’s wrath is being revealed in our world today. In this passage we see that when mankind rejects God’s revelation in nature, God turns us over to the idolatry and the sin that we desire. The consequences of our rejection of God are awful. Paul closes the passage by making it clear that people know what they are supposed to do and reject it thoroughly.
What are we to do in such an awful situation? There is hope, His name is Jesus!

In this first sermon in our "Not A Private Faith" series, we focus on Isaiah 1:10-20. In this passage God sends Isaiah to speak to wicked rulers and wicked people.
He tells them that God is fed up with their empty religious ceremonies while they have innocent blood on their hands.
He commands them to repent and to work to bring justice and correct oppression.
God then offers His forgiveness and promises to wipe away their sin should they come to Him on His terms.
From this passage we learn how to work to stop oppression in our day. It is no small task, but we must do it! Other passages include Provers 24:10-12, 25:26, 31:8-9.

In these final three verses of Stephen’s long message to the temple authorities, he transitions from the defendant to the prosecutor.
In this message on Acts 7:51-53, Stephen does as Peter had done previously and he proclaims the guilt of those who oppose him. They were the ones who killed God’s messengers. They are the ones who do not want to go along with the new thing that God is doing. They are the ones who have rejected the long awaited messiah.
In these three verses, Stephen shows us how to point out the guilt of others for the purpose of declaring to them God’s mercies in Jesus.

Stephen has more to say. In this third message on Stephen’s defense before the Jewish leaders in Acts 7:44-53, he spells out clearly what he believes about the Temple. He had been accused of speaking against it and he explains to his accusers that the Temple is not all that they think that it is. In fact God was now dwelling somewhere else entirely. Instead of the Jewish leaders repenting their rage only increases.
When Christ died on the cross the temple in Jerusalem was no longer needed. What happened? Why did this happen? What does it mean for us today? All this and more in this third message on Acts 7.

This week Stephen continues to defend himself against false accusations. In this passage (Acts 7:17-43) Stephen speak of Moses. Moses was a ruler, a redeemer, and a prophet that God sent to save the people and the people rejected Moses back then, just like they are rejecting Stephen and Jesus.
In this message we are challenged to make all of our life about Jesus and not about us, not about man-made religion, and not about the work of our hands.

The religious leaders hate Stephen and want him dead. In this message, Stephen defends himself against the false accusations that have been brought against him.
Stephen does this by telling the story of the Jewish nation. He starts by sharing how the nation began through Abraham. He then shares how God saved the nation by raising up Joseph and bringing Jacob's family to Egypt. As Stephen tells the story, He uses the Bible that the religious leaders know to lead them to the Jesus that they do not know.

What happens to God's people when they faithful deliver God's message to an ungodly world?
Opposition. Disputes. False Witnesses. Force. Death.
Stephen was ministering in the power and the Spirit of God. Some powerful people opposed him. This is nothing new. The same thing happened to Jesus and the prophets who went before him. The same thing will happen to us today if we speak up outside of the walls of our church building and call people to repentance.
In this sermon, Kyle Truman encourages us to be faithful in calling the community to repentance. We are to expect opposition from some. We are to expect persecution and suffering. We are to recognize that we are in a spiritual battle and there are powerful forces at work to destroy all who would faithfully proclaim the message of God to an ungodly people.
Here is the good news! As we proclaim God's message, we become more like Jesus. If we die because of our proclamation, we become more like Jesus. If we die, we will also rise again. That's right. Jesus rose from the dead, and so will all of God's people who persevere until the end.

In Acts 6:1-7 we see the young church in Jerusalem growing very quickly. The apostles were leading the way and as their responsibilities increased they weren’t able to do everything that they used to be able to do.
In this passage we see the apostles handle a complaint in a brilliant way.
As ministry responsibilities were delegated to others the apostles were able to devote themselves to the ministry of the word and prayer. As they did so the word of God increased, the number of disciples multiplied, and even some of their greatest enemies became part of the church.
At Hope Fellowship we are currently implementing some of the principles found in this passage. May God do a good work in our church family as a new chapter begins at Hope Fellowship.

In this teaching from Acts 5:17-33 we see the church and the leaders of the church face great opposition from the local authorities. The passage starts off with the apostles being thrown into prison and it ends with the authorities wanting to kill them.
How does the church move forward in the midst of such opposition? We move forward by continuing to tell the story of the life, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ. As we do this we command faith and repentance, and we extend the offer of the Holy Spirit and forgiveness of sin.

In Acts 4:32-37 Luke tells us the story of a church family that shares what they have freely with those who are in need. He specifically mentions one man, named Barnabas, who sold a field and gave all the money to the church.
In this teaching, Barnabas is contrasted with a couple named Ananias and Sapphira who sold a piece of property and gave part of the proceeds to the church but held back some of it for themselves and told the church that they gave it all. God struck them dead for their sin. In this teaching we examine the dangers of stinginess and hypocrisy. We are encouraged to be generous, and to not pursue earthly treasure, but treasure in heaven.

All the Christians in the early church were of one heart and soul and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common and there was not a needy person among.

So far in the book of Acts we have seen two occasions where miraculous things happened that drew a crowd and provided an opportunity to share the good news of Jesus Christ and His Kingdom. The book of Hebrews says that God does miracles to bear witness to Jesus Christ and His Kingdom (2:4).
The book of Acts records many miracles. How do these miracles expand Jesus' Kingdom? How did they do miracles back then? Are they something that we need to be doing today? If so, how do we do them? In this message Kyle Truman begins to unpack these themes and questions.

In this sermon the believers continued to pray and it was no ordinary prayer. In Part 2 of how to overcome opposition to the gospel we saw that they prayed with an understanding that God was sovereign and had predestined the events that led up to that point. In this sermon on the rest of the prayer they cried out to God and asked for two very specific very radical things. If we learn to pray this way the church will look very different and will be a transforming force in our world.
If we learn to pray like these believers did we will overcome opposition to the gospel and many will come to love Jesus.

In our last episode we saw Peter and John get arrested because they were speaking about Jesus. They were released and told to no longer speak in His name. Upon their release they returned to their friends and share with them all that took place. They quickly lifted up their voices together in prayer to God.
They begin their prayer by addressing the "Sovereign Lord." What does "Sovereign Lord" mean? In this sermon we will see how a right view of God's sovereignty and His predestination of all things actually spurs us on to effective and extraordinary prayer. If we are going to penetrate the darkness all around us and overcome opposition to the gospel of the Kingdom of God then we must be a people who gather with others regularly to pray to the Sovereign Lord.
In Acts 3 Peter and John healed a man in the name of Jesus and Peter preached to the crowd that gathered around the healed man. In Acts 4:1-22 we read about how the temple authorities responded to Peter's preaching. This was a very frustrating situation for them. They could not deny the healing because so many saw it. They became annoyed and arrested Peter and John and later told them to stop speaking about Jesus.
In this teaching we learn why there is so much opposition to the gospel of the Kingdom of God. We also see how Peter and John overcome this opposition and continue being faithful to Jesus. There are many practical and helpful lessons for us today as we seek to make new disciples in our community.

In Acts 3:20-21 Peter says that Jesus will stay in Heaven until the time for restoring all things. This is a much simpler view of the future than what many have been taught. This view differs drastically from the popular view of dispensationalism that is found in the Left Behind series that so many people have read.

In this sermon from Acts 3:1-16 we see something happen that is very similar to what we saw in Acts 2. God did something incredible that drew a crowd. When Peter saw the crowd he told them all about Jesus. He addressed the entire crowd and told them who Jesus is, what Jesus has done, and how Jesus is the Messiah that they have all been waiting for.
In this passage we see that it is only by embracing Jesus by faith and repentance that one can have a relationship with God. We see that we don't get saved by our own power or our own good works. In fact, we are needy beggars who can do nothing for ourselves and that it is God who must bring life into our dead souls.

Peter just told everyone that Jesus had lived, died, rose from the dead and ascended to the right hand of the Father to reign as King.
His listeners were cut to the heart and asked what they needed to do. Peter's response to their question teaches us much about how the necessity and nature of conversion. In this sermon on Acts 2:22-36 brother Hunter Derby shows us how Peter confronted the Jews about their rejection of God's Messiah, Jesus Christ. Many of the people who were present that day had a hand in the crucifixion of Jesus just several weeks prior to this sermon. They killed God's chosen King. They treated the Jesus as a common criminal. But God had a plan and a purpose and no one would thwart the purposes of God.

God was doing some incredible things and the crowds in Jerusalem were trying to figure out what it all meant. Some were even accusing God’s people of being drunk at 9:00 in the morning!
In this sermon from Acts 2:14-21 we see that what God is doing is what the prophet Joel had predicted hundreds of years prior to this event. God is now pouring out His Spirit on all people and we are now in the days where anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

In this passage the Spirit comes with the sound of a mighty rushing wind and divided tongues of fire and He rests upon the 120 who were waiting for Him. This story is rich in symbolism and imagery that speak much about the new covenant and the church's mission. Most importantly we see that the Spirit is necessary if we are going to be witnesses to the good news of Jesus and His Kingdom.

As we continue to learn what Jesus started in the book of Acts we come to Acts 1:15-26 where Peter leads the way in selecting Judas Iscariot's replacement.
Judas had committed suicide due to the guilt he had when he betrayed Jesus. In this passage Peter seeks to be obedient to the scriptures and leads the 120 believers under his care in a process to select Judas' replacement.
The life of Judas serves as a warning to the double minded man who has an appearance of godliness but does not depart from lawlessness.
Additional scriptures include Ps. 69:25, Ps. 109:8, Prov. 16:33, Matt 7:21-23, Matt 7:13-14, and 2 Tim. 2:19.
In this sermon we look at Acts 1:9-14. In this we see Jesus ascend into the sky into the heavens where He is seated at the right hand of God.

The Valley of the Shadow of Death is real. In this sermon on Psalm 44 we see God's people faithfully walking with God and suffering because of it. This Psalm is their prayer in the midst of great affliction that the Lord has brought upon them.
How are we supposed to think about suffering for Jesus? How are we to pray when we are suffering? How is it ok for God to afflict His faithful people? We dive into all these questions and much more in this sermon.
These words "repent or perish" rolled off the tongue of Jesus on multiple occasions while He was alive. In this sermon on Psalm 7, Hunter Derby shows us how this works out for those who refuse to come to God.
Last week we saw God's heart toward his people as they live in a broken world. This week we see God's heart toward those that do not come to God in this life. In this Psalm, King David shows us that God is angry and that He judges His enemies with righteous judgment. May we be like those who give to the Lord thanks due to his righteousness and sing praise to the name of the Lord, the Most High (v17).
In this third message in our series "We Walk Through the Valley of the Shadow of Death," Joe Pierce leads us through Psalm 23. In this passage we see God's incredibly tender care for His people.
From this passage we see that God leads us as a shepherd leads his sheep. We see that we do not have to fear evil even when it is all around us. We see that God provides for and blesses his people even when there are enemies all around.

Last week we saw a man who was crying out to God in the midst of the valley of the shadow of death. Today we look at Psalm 30 where we find that same man responding to God after God lifted him out of his desperate and hopeless situation.
This is the first sermon in a new series entitled "We Walk Through The Valley of the Shadow of Death."
In this sermon we see King David alienated, betrayed and in despair in a desperate situation. Many are out for his life and he is waiting for God to deliver him. How do we make it through times like these? Psalm 69 will teach us how.
Abraham lived a good long life and died at the age of 175 years. The Bible says that when he died he "was gathered to his people."
What does this mean? How are we to live in light of this? How are we to live in light of what we have learned from this series through the life of Abraham?
God fulfills His promise to Abraham by bringing Isaac a wife. In this sermon from Gen. 24:1-67, we see God leading Abraham's servant to find a wife for Isaac. As we see this we learn how God works through His providence in our daily affairs to fulfill His purposes.
There is much practical wisdom for daily life throughout this message. It is our hope that you will learn how to recognize God's leading in the decisions that you have to make everyday.

In Gen. 23 Abraham's wife Sarah breathes her last. In this passage we see the necessity of weeping and grieving. Most of us don't do this too well. We also see that even after living in the land for 62 years Abraham still identified as an outsider. In securing a burial plot for his wife it was clear that Abraham and his family were foreigners. The rest of the Bible elaborates on this idea of Abraham's descendants being foreigners in this world. In this sermon we explore Heb. 11:8-16 to see how we are to live as sojourners looking to a city whose designer and make is God.
Look at that title again. Is that really true? The Bible teaches that we are saved by faith alone, not by what we do. If that is so, then why does God judge people according to what He sees them do?
This question arose when we explored Gen. 22:12 which reads "Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me." Wasn't Abraham already saved by faith? If this is true, then why did God say what He said in Gen. 22:12?
In this sermon we see that there is no inconsistency or contradiction in these things. This is just one of those situations where our thoughts and ways are different from Gods. His ways are always higher (Is. 55:8-9).
In this teaching we explore Gen. 22:15-24. In the previous passage God told Abraham to offer his son Isaac as a human sacrifice. Abraham obeyed and God told him to stop just before Abraham put his son to death. God responds by swearing an oath that He will bring blessing to Abraham and to all the nations of the world. We also see that blessing comes in the midst of sacrifice.
Other passages covered are Heb. 6:13-17, Gal 3:7-8, and Rev. 7:9-10
This week we take a break from Abraham's life in Genesis and take a look at how Abraham and others like him did what they did.
This sermon is from Hebrews 12:1-3.
In this sermon we see God tell Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac. Abraham obeyed and God provided a substitute.
This is how God works. He has provided a substitute. Everything in this story calls us to look forward to the offering of God's one and only Son Jesus Christ as a substitutionary sacrifice that would atone for the sin of the world.
In this teaching from Gen. 21:22-34 we see Abraham and Abimelech negotiate an agreement, or a covenant where they are both working to make sure that they can live a good life where God has placed them.
This story challenges us by showing us the importance of worship and covenants in daily life. Both are necessary for the man or woman who wants to know God and make Him known.
In this passage Ishmael mocks Isaac and then Ishmael and his mother are cast out of Abraham's home because of it. Sarah, Isaac's mother, and Hagar, Ishmael's mother, represent two different covenants, or two different ways to know God.
This teaching is from Gen. 21:8-21 and Gal 4:21-31.
In Gen. 21:1-7 Sarah conceives and gives birth to Isaac. He is the one that God promised to Abraham and Sarah.
How do we live in between the promise and the fulfillment of that promise?
What are we currently waiting for and how do we wait for it?
In this story from Genesis 20 we see Abraham and Sarah tell a bold and significant lie because of some assumptions that they made.
How do we avoid this error? What did God do about it?
In this message from Gen.19:30-38 we step back and examine Lot’s life and how he ended up having sex with his two daughters in a cave.
What types of prayers does God remember? What types of prayers does He answer?

This is our third week in Gen. 19. In this passage God rains fire and sulfur down on the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. Why would God do such a thing? In this teaching we see how and why God destroys and judges nations and individuals. We learn what God is accomplishing when He destroys. We learn what people do that causes God to destroy them and why it is a good thing that God is a Judge.
God told Lot to leave Sodom. Lot wasn’t doing it fast enough so God was merciful to him. He grabbed Lot’s hand and yanked him out of the city before it was destroyed.
What does this have to do with us? How does God give His mercy out? How do people receive it? How should people respond to God’s mercy? All these questions and more are answered as we continue to explore Genesis 19.
This story may just be one of the most awkward and uncomfortable passages in all of the Bible, yet it is full of great truths that teach us much about God, ourselves and the world that we live in.
In this story we will see that God knows how to rescue His people at just the right time.
Today we resume our series entitle "Abraham Believed God." In this passage we see Abraham stand before the Lord and draw near to God in desperate prayer. Very few have prayed so earnestly, there is a lot that we can learn from this passage.
Paul spent 57 verses showing us that Jesus has risen from the dead. He then tells us how it should affect our lives. He call us to action. He says "Therefore my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain."
This teaching is a call to action. We are the church, Jesus has saved us and we are to grow strong and do the work of Christ in our world.
So what does that mean? What does it mean to "do justice"? What does it mean to "love kindness"? What does it mean to "walk humbly with your God"?
Doing justice has to do with giving someone their due. What are the implications of this in our world today? How should we respond to the murder of George Floyd?
And most importantly? What hope do we have that things will get better?
This week we explore 1 Cor. 15:50-57. In this passage Paul tells us what will happen to those who are alive when Jesus returns! It is going to be so exciting! Jesus gives His people the victory. There is a lot of good news shared in this, check it out!

This week, we took a brief break from 1 Corinthinians so we could hear what the Lord wanted to tell us in Romans 14:1-15:7. In this passage we are reminded to honor and extend grace to our brothers and sisters in the Lord on matters of opinion. Differences of opinions need not cause division, but rather can be a source of learning and can foster deeper relationships.
In this message we continue to explore 1 Corinthians and learn more about resurrection. In this passage (15:29-34) it becomes clear that Paul is living his life the way that he is because Jesus has risen from the dead. He commands us to wake up, stop sinning and know God.

In Genesis 16 Abram's wife Sarai has a really bad idea. Abram decides to go along with it and the results are disastrous.
In this story we again see that God is faithful and we learn that we can't rush His good plan.
In this episode we explore Genesis 15:7-21 where the conversation between Abram and God continues.
The good news that we see in this passage is that God is a covenant making and covenant keeping God. This means He keeps His promises and graciously works with us as we grow in our faith.

Later on in Biblical history the apostle Paul would use an idea from this passage to show that the only way that anyone can have a relationship with God is to receive God's very own perfect righteousness by faith.

Is there any ultimate resolution for Habakkuk's complaints? What is God going to do? What does Habakkuk learn from all of this?
Habakkuk complained to God, God spoke. Habakkuk complained again, God meets him where he is at and speaks again. In this exploration of Habakkuk 2:4-20 We see that God has a plan and a purpose in His dealings with the governments and world powers of the day. As we look at what we have seen in Habakkuk 1-2 we realize that God is sovereignly overseeing and directing the affairs of the universe perfectly and in His mercy He cares for His beloved people and directs them through challenging days.
Sometimes we don't like what is going on in the world today. Habakkuk sure didn't! He was bold enough to take his complaint to God and then he was quiet and listened to what God would say to Him.

In this teaching we explore the first 11 verses of Habakkuk's prophecy. Habakkuk lived 2,600 years ago in a time where there were very few people who were walking with God. This grieved Habakkuk and he prayed and asked God how long He would allow the evil to continue. God answered Habakkuk's prayer/complaint but Habakkuk still wasn't satisfied.

In this teaching we look at the Apostle Peter's instruction to pastors/elders in 1 Pet 5:2-3. Pastors/elders are to lead in a way that is not domineering or authoritarian but they are to be examples to the church family.
In this teaching we explore the development of the position and role of the elder in the early church. An elder is a shepherd of God's people. The word "pastor" means "shepherd." Elders are pastors, pastors are elders, pastors and elders are shepherds. What does this mean for how are churches are structured?

In this teaching from Acts 6:1-6 we see how the young church in Jerusalem had to change some things so that they could fulfill their responsibilities and accomplish Jesus' mission. In this teaching we see that while the local church is the family of God it also has an institutional or organizational element to it. We must embrace this dynamic that God has created within His family. We learn how to handle complaints and how church leaders can work together with church members to meet needs within the church. In this passage we see the importance of roles within the church and how responsibilities should be delegated. What we see in this passage is a great example of the apostles/church leaders using the keys of the kingdom (mentioned last week) to build the Kingdom of Heaven.
In this teaching we examine what Jesus said about the church. The Bible only records him using the word "church" three times. Jesus makes it clear that the church is His idea and His project and He plans to build the church through His people. As we explore Matt 16:13-20 and Matt 18:15-20 we see that Jesus hands over authority to the apostles, to subsequent church leaders and to all the members of the church. He will build His church and no plan of Hell will prevent Him from doing what He set out to do! He wants you to be a part of this building project, will you participate?

How does this change how we think about the church? How does this challenge our assumptions and experience? Although the church has an institutional/organizational element to it, we must realize that we are much more of a family than most of us realize.

1 Cor 13 teaches that love is not controlling, it is not suffocating, it is often not convenient, love does not keep score and it let's go. Love is not manipulative or selfish. Love doesn't make life about us but about God and other people. In this teaching we examine what modern day psychology calls codependency and we examine the motives that operate in our hearts. And by the end, we look straight into the face of God Himself and we consider His awesome love poured out for us at the cross.
In this passage John tells us to do something that is not very popular today. He wants us to test the spirits, the messages, the preacher who are in our world making their voice heard. We are to ask the question "Do they confess/acknowledge that Jesus is the Christ/Messiah and that He has come in the flesh. We must not believe every spirit, if we do we are in great danger.
The nature of the Holy Spirit is that He always points to Jesus and that it is only through the Holy Spirit that anyone can confess Jesus.
What does it mean to love your church family? Is it important? According to John is is very important, and if you don't do it John says that you are not a Christian!
In this passage John also teaches us how to pray confidently.
Did you know that if you aren't a child of God that you are a child of the devil? That's what John tells us in this passage. John also commands us to "SEE!" the great love that God has for us, do you see it? In this teaching you will get to explore the reality of the new (or spiritual) birth and how this changes us. You will also learn that anyone who regularly practices sin does not belong to God.
How are we to know that God will receive us when He returns? The answer is simple, if we abide in Christ in the present we will have confidence when He returns.

He is writing to bring clarity to the message of Jesus and how that message should change a person's life.
When you sin what do you do with it? Most people do one of two things when they sin. They either disregard it and don't worry about it or they are cast down with guilt and shame and are unable to move on in life. How are we supposed to handle our failures?

That is the good news! Jesus didn't stay dead. He was the perfect sacrifice for the sin of man. On Sunday morning He rose from the dead, conquering death, sin and the devil. Will you believe on the risen Lord Jesus and be saved?

Jesus breathed his last and was buried. When Jesus died the veil in the temple was torn in two. It was no longer needed, He (Jesus) actually became the veil (curtain). This means that you no longer had to be an important religious leader to experience the presence of God. This means that all people can know God, even the Roman Centurion, women, and rich people.

The guards, the bystanders, the religious leaders, and the other criminals all mock Jesus. Jesus tries to carry His cross to the hill but is unable. The nails are driven through His hands and His feet. He suffers. There is darkness over the whole land from noon to 3 p.m.

It is Friday morning. Jesus will die on the cross this afternoon. In Mark 15:1-15 Jesus stands before the Roman Governor Pontius Pilate. Pilate finds no guilt in Jesus, but the people want Him dead. A lady poured over $25,000 worth of perfume on Jesus. In a radical display of sacrifice she let go of something that was precious and costly to her and her family. This display of love and gratitude shows the worth that she placed upon her Lord. In this teaching on Mark 14:1-11 Pastor Kyle challenges us to surrender our lives completely to Jesus. God is calling us to gaze upon the face of Jesus and to make Him our greatest treasure!

The had made the temple a market when it was supposed to be a house of prayer for all types of people.
