The Episode was published four days after recording. Since then, the number of cases have doubled (1500).

With a relatively small number of infections, the Canadian government already imposed some social distance rules, closing as well all non-essential commerce. Nevertheless, similar to many other countries, the response of the population itself is quite slow. Bars and Restaurants are still busy, even if with less people than usual. Ironically, even though social distance and protective hygiene rules are many times not properly respected, people still bought out many of what many consider vital items… such as water, food cans… and toilet paper.
There are already flight restrictions and all land borders are equally closed. The State of Emergency was so far not proclaimed. Like in most western countries, the use of mask by the population is reduced. Our guest noted inclusively that most people in Toronto using masks were of Asian ethnicity.
The concerns lie not only on the upcoming battle against the virus, but also on the forecast of a possible economic crisis. Within a week there were half a million applications for job losses, which represents 5% of the active population of the country. The biggest banks in Canada are allowing customers to defer payments the next 6 months, but it is still unclear what the future holds for the economic health of the country.
