In this podcast, I invited my dad on the podcast to discuss how a runner in a sports race or a boxer in a boxing match correlate to the Christian walk. My dad is a former head pastor, where he served the Lord for 16 years at Grace Baptist Church in Wellsville, KS. I asked him the question of how 1 Corinthians 9 relates to Christians. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 9 that we should run the race and persevere in the Christian life like a runner strives for the prize. Many sports athletes spend a countless amount of time training and preparing with the goal of winning a championship or trophy in their respective sport. In the same manner, we as believers are to persevere in the race of faith. The amount of time and preparation an athlete gives to a sport is intentional and takes commitment. As believers, we should be just as intentional and deliberate in our Christian walk. The eternal weight of glory is what we have to look forward to and we should strive for it like a runner in a marathon strives for the finish line. Not striving for things that are earthly and temporal but things which are eternal. That when we pass on from this life to the next and see Jesus Christ face to face, He will greet us with the words "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
