Launched just a few years ago, the Florida Student Success Center has been dedicated to working collaboratively with Florida College System (FCS) institutions to create a statewide strategy for student success efforts, share best practices with one another and maximize resources. From mathematics re-design to now the Florida Pathways Institute, they are certainly moving the needle.
In this episode, we chat with Abbey Ivey, Director of the Florida Student Success Center. Abbey talks data, goals and the popular topic of guided pathways. Florida Pathways Institute is our statewide guided pathways implementation effort. Meet Ray Coulter
Ray Coulter’s story is one many AFC members are familiar with - a Palm Beach State College locksmith accepted the challenge to begin his leadership journey. The result? Growth. Confidence. Transformation. Fast forward ten years later, he is our fearless leader assuming the role of the 2021 AFC State President.
What’s his mission? To make an impact and empower others to be a leader – to BE THE CHANGE. In this episode, Ray talks about the association's goals, highlights from the 2021 AFC Leadership Conference, a little more of his story…and chickens! It’s the greatest time of the year for the AFC. It’s annual conference time! In a year unlike any other, the AFC came together virtually to celebrate the resiliency of its members and hosted its 71st AFC Annual Conference and Meeting. Broadcasted and recorded live from Tallahassee during the conference, this episode focuses on our campus heroes – facilities professionals. Who is Matt White? Every leader’s journey is unique and it’s no different for Matt White, current AFC President. Taking detours as a nontraditional student, discovering a rewarding career in IT, and facing challenges with a natural disaster are just a few chapters of Matt’s journey. Hear his story. Also in this episode, Paul Lefavi was a devoted member of the Stuart community and succumbed to Mantel Cell Lymphoma Cancer in November of 2019. His legacy lives on with the Paulie Strong Charitable Foundation and student scholarships at Indian River State College. The community remains Paulie Strong in his honor.
