The tables were turned as this time the show host becomes an interviewee of the Digital Rapport regular podcast. We spoke about the past, present and future of podcasting aka social audio in the context of best practice for applicability, structuring and the importance of experimentation to assure the right resonance and loyalty with your intended audience.
Our episode features Dr Kuldip Sandhu - Director of Innovative Quality Solutions. We chat about how companies have had to rapidly adapt due to the global pandemic. Essentially, how corporate leadership have empowered their employees to both deliver and govern effective change.
Dr Sandhu has also developed a global unique change simulator that is blended, combining online learning with facilitated collaborative learning. The simulator uses the principles of gamification. Gamification techniques are intended to leverage people's natural desires for socializing, learning, mastery, competition, achievement, status, self-expression, altruism, closure or simply their response to the framing of a situation as game or play.
Our episode welcomes a leading youth activist. We consider the variance in how countries are prioritising vaccination roll outs, suspicion of the vaccine among ethnic minorities - particularly the BAME community and post Covid-19 world optimism.
We start our new season discussing a video recently circulated widely on social media, a young Sikh boy is seen being assaulted by two others in school uniform as he was walking back home from class. He was pushed to the ground and pinned down. This is very disturbing behaviour and saddening to see.
My guests are Medic Jasleen Kaur, Senior director Harpreet Singh and respected spokesperson (Sikh Council) and Senior director Manamagan Singh.
We focused on what clearly appears as a racially charged incident. Together we explored the need for better education for all levels of society, including schools, parents and children. Showing leadership with effective knowledge tools is one of the methods discussed.
This week, an archive episode, bringing back an interview with managing director of, The Rothschild Group - Dr Jogishwar Singh.
We discover inspired him to move from being a scientist to international banker and the way media portrays this market sector. I had an opportunity to ask Dr Jogishwar Singh about tips can he provide for those wishing to join/start and progress in the investment banking sector.
Dr Jogishwar Singh is the first Sikh to have been selected by the world renowned Rothschild Group in Switzerland as a Managing Director. Born at Khanna (India) in 1951, Dr Singh served in the IPS and IAS before leaving India in 1984, a year of cataclysmic events for Sikhs in India. He restarted his professional career from scratch in Switzerland where his previous experience as an IAS officer had no resonance at all. With an M.Sc (Hons School) in Physics, M.A. in History from Panjab University Chandigarh, Dr Singh did his D.E.S.S. at Sorbonne in Paris, followed by a PhD from Ruprecht-Karls University in Heidelberg, Germany. Dr Singh is fluent in eight languages and has basic knowledge of two others.

A wonderful opportunity to meet Sardarni Navleen Kaur, Chair of Khalsa Fostering - working with the community to help support children and families in critical areas of Foster care, for example: finding families to best suit placements, educational needs and mentoring through big brother and sister roles. A long term aim is to also develop a foster centre.
We also had an opportunity to discuss her projects to help women with the challenges of dementia.
A truly inspiring interview
In this week's episode we discuss the outcome of the 2020 US election. Just like the Star Wars movie title is there now a 'New Hope'? Will the new president bring about a new era of optimism, less protectionism, technological innovation to facilitate a greener economy - all amongst a backdrop for coming through a time of the Pandemic.

This week we met the CEO of Multicultural Richmond (UK) - Ravi Arora. The charity promotes a thriving, integrated and inclusive multicultural community in Richmond upon Thames and surrounding boroughs. Projects include: #health, #wellbeing, developing #digitalskills, enjoying the great outdoors and tackling inequality. We spoke about the challenge of our current Covid times as many members enjoy face-to-face meet-ups et al.
New challenges are now being managed, for example: connecting online with members that have varied digital skills. In addition, we discussed the power of data to help campaign for better opportunities for the next generation of students.
It was great to hear about the CEO and his team that are developing and supporting people from all walks of life. Their mission says it all, 'to be the leading charity working to secure racial equality and inclusion in, and celebrate and strengthen the multicultural nature of, the Richmond upon Thames community and communities in surrounding London boroughs'.
It was great to meet co-ordinators, leaders and a wonderful example of a beneficiary of the amazing Youth Camp based in Canada - bringing together lots of community groups that all have a common aim of doing good and developing youth.
This time Dr Savi was effectively in the 'interviewee chair'!

I recently had an opportunity to meet Ben Chai considered a hidden jewel in the business world and someone that has actioned growth in a variety of multi-million pound businesses in diverse fields including property, software, media, authoring, security, education and hospitality.
It was great to gain insights into how the world of business has changed and attributes of being an effective savvy leader.
This week we met the Brother - UX pioneers and instrumental at SkyTV for development of their interfaces et al. The Brothers (Gurmit and Amardeep) are Directors of Enable Consulting, Executive Experience Directors at HSBC and Honorary Fellows at Brunel University. I first met them at SkyTV and it was great to catch-up with them, especially discussing the key aspects of customer-centric design and nudging strategies!
This week an Archive show - when we met Jaspal Singh from Virgin Atlantic back in 2014/5. He walks us through his amazing job and outlined the opportunity / initiative that Virgin have offered via their 'Virgin Atlantic Future Flyers Programme'.
It was great to meet him and we're grateful for him sharing his career passion to fly. He's an inspiration to all of us.
Jaspal continues to do some incredible charity work all around the world through the international charity: KhalsaAid.
Welcome to Season 5 Episode 19 of Dr Savi's Media Watch
A few years ago we had an opportunity to interview the Reverend Jesse Jackson.
At the time Dr Savi was asked by a close friend of his, a CEO of a major UK housing trust to interview Jesse Jackson during Jesse's short stop over in London.
Jesse Jackson is an American civil rights activist, Baptist minister, and politician. He was a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1984 and 1988 and served as a shadow U.S. Senator for the District of Columbia from 1991 to 1997.
He is also the founder of the organisations that merged to form Rainbow Push. Rainbow Push is a nonprofit organisation formed as a merger of two nonprofit organisations: People United to Save Humanity. and the National Rainbow Coalition. Both organisations pursue social justice, civil rights and political activism.
The recording took place just after the last stock market crash, with many losing their homes with the banks rushing to reclaim their loans to everyday people.
Some of the points raised at the time are still relevant today.

It was great to meet Indy and discuss challenges the economy faces at the moment.
We also covered his passion for sustainability and podcasting especially in a corporate context. In addition, we spoke about his love for home gardening/farming. He even built an awesome full functioning gym at home during lockdown.
Indy Hothi CA is currently the co-founder of Upside Projects, a consultancy and venture builder which provides strategic advice on digital transformation, innovation and sustainability to public and private sector clients.
Prior to Upside Projects, Indy was a senior economist with EY in London. He worked across a number of high-profile economic impact studies which influenced public policy and included clients such as the Premier League and Rugby World Cup.
Through his passion for social and humanitarian causes, Indy was a trustee of Khalsa Aid International, a charity which provides humanitarian aid in disaster areas and civil conflict zones. His work has led him to the frontline on a number of projects including Iraq, DR Congo, Lebanon, Nepal and Haiti.
Indy is the Vice President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), the worlds oldest accountancy body, representing over 20,000 members worldwide.

Tan has a bachelor's degree in mathematics with management studies from University College London, studied applied statistics at Keble College, Oxford, and has a Master of Philosophy in the history and politics of South Asia from Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge.
He was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Slough in 2017. Recently, he's been appointed Shadow Minister for the Railways by Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer in April 2020.

This week we met the CEO of Bonnier Books UK, Perminder Mann. It was fascinating learning about the publishing process and understanding the current challenges of assuring diversity in Publishing industry. Bonnier Books UK published the outstanding book: The Tattooist of Auschwitz
This week we met Captain Ramneek Kaur & Rajvinder Singh from Shepherds Busch Gurdwara who are running some great strategic projects, including Well Being support, Langar outreach and considering new & imaginative services. We were also honoured to have on the show Ex Dep Mayor of Hounslow, Veteran charity worker/leader and board adviser to a number of regional co-operative credit union banks: Mukesh Malhotra. During this 'un-lockdown' period we discussed the need for more services required to support people in need.
This week we met Jasvir Singh OBE, one of the founders of City Sikhs and now progressing an incredible initiative known as South East Asian Heritage (SAHM) Month. He shares with us its aims. SAHM seeks to commemorate, mark and celebrate South Asian cultures, histories particularly the intertwined histories of the UK and South Asian communities and how South Asian cultures are present throughout the UK and indeed London.
The month begins on the 18th July, the date that the Indian Independence Act 1947 gained royal assent and ends on the 17th August, Partition Commemoration Day.
This week we met Dr Peter Chada and leading nutritionist Paola Miari. We explored:
- BAME vulnerability under Covid-19
- The potential role of vitamins to support a healthy diet - also focus on recent reports about the potential benefits of Vitamin D for select communities/types of people.
- Referencing / supportive recent research
- Throughout, assuring you seek advice to support nutrition & supplement choices (inc: dosages)
- A recommendation to avoid processed foods 6 - How you cook food can impact the resulting benefits and loss of essential nutrients. It was a fascinating discussion with some great insights direct from experts rather than online randomness! i.e: It is essential that we don't take what is published online for verbatim.
It is always good to talk to specialists.
This week we met Am Golhar - Media, PR and Digital Media expert and Chief Supt Raj Kohli. We discussed the Positive and Negative aspects of Social Media, in the context of: 1 - considering if social media is truly a facilitator for democracy, 2 - does it act as an effective tool for communication and 3 - how or if social media is adapting to the 'new normal'.
This week we met Kam Khatker from Lotus Wellbeing Clinic. We had a wonderful opportunity to talk about how she helped patients during the lockdown, including balancing family life. She's now also a primary lead for the UK Governments Test and Trace service. It was great to gain insights into how we can continue to stay safe whilst the virus sadly is still with us / circulating in society!
This week we met Min Kaur - Journalist, reporter, researcher and producer. We spoke about the challenges of researching, celebrating lock-down heroes and some of her up and coming projects
This week we met Sukhi Wahiwala & Gary Setterfield. We spoke about the need for optimism, taking time to reflect & building business confidence as the lock-down eases.
This week we feature an interview with Del Singh - TV star, Fitness fan, charity fund raiser for the NHS and also the person who tied Kabir Bedi's turban in the James Bond movie: Octopussy! We also spoke about remembering the struggles of our parents and the challenges of racism today.
This week we met the famous and inspiring couple Magic Singh and Pavan (The Henna Bar). We spoke about innovating services under lock-down & the power of connecting internationally via virtual / social media.
This week I interviewed Jatinder Palaha (https://www.jatinderpalaha.com) and Jo Sidhu QC (http://www.josidhu.com) we discussed: #science, #technology, #digital, #tracking, tracing #COVID and #government (inc: the need for honesty and integrity in policy making and how scientific data and scientists are being relied upon).
This week we met with Dr Gaggan Singh Alg (British Sikh Doctors Organisation ) and Gurpreet Singh (President of Shepherds Bush Gurdwara). Together we discussed how the British Sikh Doctors Organisation supports its members through mentoring & and much valued community health screening programmes. In addition, how they advised and donated a defibrillator for Shepherds Bush Gurdwara - and ongoing advice on how social distancing will work as places of worship begin to reopen after the Corona virus enforced lockdown.
This week I had the honour of interviewing 3 Doctors (Dr Rajinderpal Singh, Dr Sarabpreet Singh and Dr Talwinder Singh Gill) on the NHS front line. We discussed understanding why BAME patients appear to have a greater risk of infection, challenges on the front line for example Clinicians mental health & how the public can be careful as the lock-down loosens.
In our latest show we cover, Fitness, Challenges and Raising funds for charity. Especially, a series of virtual challenges #challengeforheroes (https://www.challengeforheroes.com) - raising funds for the NHS and supporting food banks. We also cover the SACA bike ride that has been going since the late 1980s and has raised over £750K for children's charities.
This week we met Baljit Singh (& daughter) and Rattan - inspirational organisers and leaders in fitness innovation.

The original TV based Media Watch shows were first broadcast on Sky across Europe and internationally from 2009. Media Watch continues to be broadcast weekly and highlights are featured in this audio podcast.
Due to the 2020 Corona virus outbreak and resulting lockdown Mediawatch has continued albeit under outside studio conditions. Hence, the audio quality is variable.
