Message from Justin Willis, given at FBC Windsor on Sunday April 25th, 2021

1 Peter 2:1-10: 1 So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. 2 Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. 4 As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, 5 you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For it stands in Scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.” 7 So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe, “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,” 8 and, “A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense.” They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do. 9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Message from Pastor Lance Wallace, given at FBC Windsor on Sunday April 18th, 2021

1John 5: 1Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. 2By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. 3For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. 4For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

Message from Pastor Lance Wallace, given at FBC Windsor on Sunday April 11th, 2021

1 John 4:13-21
13By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world. 18There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. 19We love because he first loved us. 20If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannota love God whom he has not seen. 21And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.

Message from Pastor Lance Wallace, given on Easter Sunday April 4th, 2021 at FBC Windsor.

Text - Revelation 1:9-20

I, John, your brother and partner in the tribulation and the kingdom and the patient endurance that are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. 101 was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet 11saying, "Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea."

12Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, 13and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. 14The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, 15his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. 16In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength

17When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, "Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades. 19Write therefore the things that you have seen, those that are and those that are to take place after this. 20As for the mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands, the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

Message from Pastor Michael Porter, given at FBC Windsor on Palm Sunday, March 28th, 2021.
This passage marks the turning point in redemption history. The reader is left wondering if Jesus’ ministry is about to take a terrible turn for the worse. Yet, our Lord is in full control, and the scheming of Jesus’ enemies in the background is actually setting the stage for the true purpose of Jesus’ coming in the first place: Jesus’ crucifixion.

Sermon Outline:
I. Jesus’ Impending Death (John 11:55 – 12:19)
     a. The Setting: the Passover in Jerusalem (11:55-57)
     b. The Dinner at Lazarus’ Home and Mary’s Costly Ointment (12:1-11)
     c. The Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem (12:12-19)
II. Jesus’ Purpose for Dying (John 12:20-36)
     a. The Unexpected Travelers (12:20-22)
     b. The Announcement of the “Hour” (12:23-36)
     c. Conclusion – Two Takeaways:
          1. Rest in God’s Love.
          2. Rest in God’s Sovereignty

Message from Pastor Lance Wallace, given at FBC Windsor on Sunday January 17th, 2021.

I. Introduction – The exclusivity and simplicity of the Gospel
(John 14:6; Matt 7:14; John 3:16; 1Cor 15:1-4; 2Cor 11:3)
II. 4 Enemies of the Faith in 1 John 2:
a. _______ - 2:1
b. _______ - 2:13,14
c. _______ - 2:15
d. _______ __________ - 2:18-27

18Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour. 19They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us. 20But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge. 21I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth. 22Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. 23No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also. 24Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father. 25And this is the promise that he made to use—eternal life.
26I write these things to you about those who are trying to deceive you. 27But the anointing that you
received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him.

Message from Pastor Michael Porter on 1 John 2:15-17, given at FBC Windsor on 1/10/21.

Sermon Text: 1 John 2:15-17
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world —the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life— is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

Main Idea of the Text:
People who love the way of the world will miss the way to God.

Introductory Remarks:
The letter of 1 John begins by laying the foundation of true Christianity: the historical incarnation of the Word, Jesus Christ. Jesus is the foundation of the faith because it is only through the cross of Christ that we are called out of the darkness and brought into the light. John knows this and takes this seriously, so he provides us with several “tests” to see whether we truly have fellowship with the Father. In a nutshell, the first is obedience to God and the second is love for God’s people. But there is a counterbalance to this. In order to be obedient to God and to love His people, we must not love the world or the things of this world. What does this mean?

Sermon Outline:
I. The Way of the World (vv. 15-16)

  • The Desires of the Flesh
  • The Desires of the Eyes
  • The Pride of Life

II. The Way to God (v. 17)

  • The World is Passing Away
  • The Christian Will Abide Forever

Message from Pastor Lance Wallace, given at First Baptist Church of Windsor on October 11th, 2020.

2 Timothy 2:24-3:5

24And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to
everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, 25correcting his opponents
with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a
knowledge of the truth, 26and they may come to their senses and escape
from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.
3:1But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of
difficulty. 2For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant,
abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3heartless,
unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving
good, 4treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather
than lovers of God, 5having the appearance of godliness, but denying its
power. Avoid such people.

What Kind of Person Ought You to Be in These Last Days?
Message from Pastor Lance Wallace, given at First Baptist Church of Windsor on October 4th, 2020.

2 Peter 3:10-18
1This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, 2that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles, 3knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. 4They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” 5For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, 6and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. 7But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. 8But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you,a not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. 10But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed. 11Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 12waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! 13But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

Message from Pastor Lance Wallace, given on September 13th at First Baptist Church of Windsor.

2 Peter 2:1-10
1But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. 4For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hella and committed them to chainsb of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment; 5if he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; 6if by turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes he condemned them to extinction, making them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly;c 7and if he rescued righteous Lot, greatly distressed by the sensual conduct of the wicked 8(for as that righteous man lived among them day after day, he was tormenting his righteous soul over their lawless deeds that he saw and heard); 9then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials,d and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment, 10and especially those who indulgee in the lust of defiling passion and despise authority. Bold and willful, they do not tremble as they blaspheme the glorious ones,

Ephesians 6:5-9
5Bondservants,a obey your earthly mastersb with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, 6not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, 7rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, 8knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a bondservant or is free. 9Masters, do the same to them, and stop your threatening, knowing that he who is both their Masterc and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with him.

Part 3 of 4 in the series "Image Bearers of God".

Message from Pastor Lance Wallace given on August 16th at First Baptist Church of Windsor.

Ephesians chapter 5:18-33
18And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, 19addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives and Husbands 22Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. 25Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.a 28In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30because we are members of his body. 31“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. 33However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
