I got a new run watch, a Coros Pace 2. I also finished one month of consistent running with it. I explore how useful this tool is and why you might want to give it a try to supplement with a training strategy.
Coming back to the run and to the Run Clearly podcast. I missed the show and is now looking forward to reconnecting with all the listeners again. Catching up with what's happening.
This episode we discuss the aftermath of injury and results from doing a third MAF test. I take the opportunity to bring up potential cause and effect of injury and alternative replacement training in lieu of running. The results are actually quite dramatic and does call for more results in future months to prove or disprove some theories. This episode concludes a wonderful season of running with new runners!
It happens that I've somehow injured myself unknowingly. This is an episode on self reflection, what I did wrong and how I should have go about it in the future. This is real goal and planning adjustments that I personally need to make, I hope it proves to be a good lesson for others to go by.
We can now review the one month of results from using the Maffetone Method. The results are not all too surprising. The results from this method has caused me to rethink how we need to approach new training plans, how we need to set our goals, and lessons learned from using the Maffetone Method as your primary training plan.
I got burnout sometimes and I think you'll likely eventually fall into that same trap. I hope to share some words for encouragement and some ways that I follow to prevent falling into that. Don't let burnout get you, because this is something you can avoid easily if you know these simple methods.
Is running, a high impact sport, bad for you knees? Are your joints at risk of osteoarthritis due to running? This episode I explore the claims of pain using studies on the very matter. I also share my experience on my personal discomforts and how time for body adaptations is often overlooked, leading to injuries. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5768460/ https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/0363546503258904 https://www.nature.com/articles/nature08723?ref=nf https://bmjopensem.bmj.com/content/5/1/e000586?int_source=trendmd∫_medium=cpc∫_campaign=usage-042019
Sports usually entail gear and equipment. Thankfully running is a lot simpler. I share my experiences about what I learned to look for in terms of running shoes and socks, so you can hopefully find your perfect setup.
The greatest failure comes from not having any idea of how you want to achieve your goals. Even basic planning for your runs can make your goals so much more realistic. I discover and explore a training plan called the Maffetone Method and how that may increase success for aspiring or newer runners. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17549657/
