In the penultimate episode of Fingers Crossed, Sierra & Kristee discuss a relevant topic that is on the minds of many mid-twenty somethings: maintaining friendships in different life stages.  What do you do when three of your friends are married with babies and you're just re-entering the dating scene? What if you're busy in a 9-5 career and your friends are all working part time with tons of free time? Do you settle down? Buy a house? Work hard for that career promotion? Run away and work on a boat in Australia? Your 20s can make it really hard to relate to your friends sometimes, but the gals of Fingers Crossed are here to help.

In today's episode of Fingers Crossed, Kristee and Sierra discuss the concept of Identity Capital. Originally brought to their attention by Meg Jay in The Defining Decade, Identity Capital is the concept that one's unique talents, experiences, achievements and background create a personal portfolio that makes one a valuable and well-rounded individual inside & outside the workplace.

Your twenties are guided by how heavily you invest in your identity capital—and it is always worth the time to invest in yourself. Join K&S as they share listener stories, article tidbits, and their own personal experiences about building their identity capital and personal resumé.

Due to popular demand, we're back with part II of our burnout episode! Last week was all about how burnout has become "the Millennial condition" and how young people can be susceptible to it. Today, we're diving into some specific about how you can recognize burnout, what it does to your body, and steps you can take to try and help avoid it in your day-to-day life. We are also hearing about Sierra's new job, Kristee's upcoming travel, and announcing our new BIWEEKLY UPLOAD SCHEDULE! Have you been feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and just plain burnt out? Today on Fingers Crossed, Sierra and Kristee are unpacking the ever growing theme of Millennial burnout. They discuss how societal changes have caused an epidemic of overwork disguised as "hustle" or "productivity" culture—and how it's a dangerous slippery slope.  They read excerpts from Anne Helen Petersen's article about Millennial burnout, as well as tons of listener responses about how burnout is affecting their lives.  S&K will be releasing a part TWO on this topic the following week, because they have a lot to say, and a lot more articles to share.  Stay tuned!

In a continuation from last week where K & S discuss the first part of "The Defining Decade"  by Meg Jay, this week dives into the second half of the book, where things get a liiiittle more heated. This half focuses on relationships, marriage, & fertility in your 20s and beyond, which can be a delicate subject when things such as privilege, gender stereotypes and financial stability come into play.  The author shares that the best time to work on your marriage is "before you have one" and encourages twentysomethings to not delay starting a family.  The hosts of Fingers Crossed definitely have a lot to say about this part of the book—and their listeners definitely have some critiques to share as well.  Come join in and let us know what you think! For their first "book club" style episode ever, Kristee and Sierra discuss "The Defining Decade" by Meg Jay— a guidance and wisdom book for twentysomethings.  The book says that 30 is NOT the new 20 —that your 20's are some of the most important and foundational years of your life! But what does that really mean when you're just trying to figure it all out and have no idea what the future looks like? The hosts of Fingers Crossed weigh in on their thoughts about the book and what changes it inspired them to make in their lives, and what they did NOT like about it.  This episode is part one of a two-part series, with this episode focused on the first half of the book, discussing careers, friendships & building your identity capital.

Do you feel like a different person from who you were 5 years ago? 5 months ago? Even 5 minutes ago? Ever hopped on the midnight train going anywhere? Hopped off the plane at LAX with a dream and a cardigan? In our society and pop culture, we're surrounded by romanticized stories of people leaving behind their old lives in search of who they dream to be. So today, Kristee and Sierra seek out the answer to an age-old question: why do we always want to reinvent ourselves? What types of motivations do we have to do this? And how can we work on ourselves in a realistic way that will last without leaving behind everything that makes us who we are?

The cold never bothered us anyway, but toxic positivity has. Have you ever poured your heart out to someone and have to fight the urge to punch them when their only response is "Cheer up! Everything happens for reason." That may be because you were hit with some positivity that was toxic, aka invalidating your feelings and real issues. Kristee and Sierra are diving into the discussion of positivity gone wrong, when people with good intentions don't realize they're doing it, and trying to define where the line between "healthy" and "toxic" positivity lies. We've all been there, whether we were on the receiving end or may have been unknowingly perpetuating toxic positivity ourselves, but hopefully this discussion can give some perspective on how we can all be better friends and listeners by avoiding toxic positivity where we can in the future. Cheers!

In this episode, Kristee and Sierra delve into the essential millennial question: why are we all so obsessed with personality types? They discuss Myer-Briggs, Enneagram, Love Languages, and a bit of the Zodiac to hack into themselves and their relationships with others. Can 4 letters explain why we are the way that we are? Can we really only get along with select other types? What test do we think explains ourselves the best? What is the most common type of people that listen to our podcast? These are just a few of the questions these two explore in this fun episode.
