John Boutté is an American jazz singer based in New Orleans, Louisiana, who has been active since the mid-1990s. He is known for diverse music style that goes beyond jazz to R&B, gospel, Latin, and blues. He is the younger brother of the jazz and gospel singer Lillian Boutté, and a relative of legendary cartoonist George Herriman.
Boutté was a featured singer on the song "It's The Beginning of the End" on Todd Rundgren's album White Knight. He was in a very recent May 2, 2020 article about Jazz Fest https://www.npr.org/2020/05/02/849124139/from-ella-fitzgerald-to-john-boutt-jazz-festing-in-place-presents-archival-audio.
Three time Grammy nominee Bettye LaVette is no mere singer. She is not a song writer, nor is she a "cover" artist. She is an interpreter of the highest order. Bettye is one of very few of her contemporaries who were recording during the birth of soul music in the 60s and is still creating vital recordings today. To quote the late, great George Jones: "Bettye is truly a 'singer's singer'."
In 2020, LaVette will be inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame.
Betty is on Todd Rundgren's White Knight album song "Naked and Afraid" and has performed on stage with him a time or two.

Special guest Phil Thornalley who recorded the recently released Todd-centric album Astral Drive!
Phil Thornalley has spent much of his career behind the scenes, writing songs and producing albums for other artists. His biggest commercial triumph, co-writing and producing the single "Torn" for Natalie Imbruglia, wasn't even sung by him. However, Thornalley does have experience underneath the spotlight. In 1983, Thornalley became the bass player for gothic rock pioneers the Cure after Simon Gallup left. Thornalley had previously co-produced the Cure's 1982 LP ography. Thornalley toured with the Cure while the band promoted The Top album, but his stay was short-lived, lasting only until the group's performance at the Beacon Theatre in New York on November 17, 1984. Gallup had returned to the Cure, causing Thornalley to leave. In 1987, Thornalley worked as an engineer for Johnny Hates Jazz's debut LP Turn Back the Clock; he also wrote the track "Listen." When vocalist Clark Datchler departed from Johnny Hates Jazz in 1988, Thornalley became the band's new lead singer. Thornalley also recorded a solo effort that year, Swamp. In 1991, Johnny Hates Jazz released Tall Stories with Thornalley on vocals. Despite having no dramatic shifts in style from Turn Back the Clock, the LP failed to sell. In 1995, Thornalley co-wrote the track "Torn" on Ednaswap's self-titled debut. Three years later, Thornalley produced Imbruglia's cover of "Torn," a worldwide smash.
When Ralph Shuckett, the keys man for Utopia – the '70s and '80s progressive rock outfit led by American music great Todd Rundgren – bowed out of the band's Utopia reunion tour, one of Rundgren's sons suggested Assayas, who has been dazzling music fans as Glasys in his adopted home of Portland, Oregon.
"We looked at his stuff on the Internet and were all blown away by how talented he was and how confident he seemed," Rundgren told Billboard magazine.

Versatile songwriter, singer and guitarist, Nils Lofgren has been working professionally since age 17. He has toured with Neil Young, Ringo Starr and is currently a member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. After fronting the 70's group Grin, Nils embarked on a solo career and has been a sought after session player. The Lemon Twigs have recently toured the US, Europe, and Japan after the release of their first album, Do Hollywood. An article by Michael Hann in the UK Guardian said this about a song on the album: "These Words is the missing track from side one of Rundgren’s Something/Anything, with a harmony chorus that expands like a hot air balloon".
https://www.theguardian.com/music/2016/oct/13/the-lemon-twigs-do-hollywood-album-review-4ad
The Twigs recently brought out Todd Rundgren at Coachella to perform "Couldn't I Just Tell You" as an encore.
The Lemon Twigs are an American pop/rock band from Long Island, New York, United States, fronted by brothers Brian D’Addario and Michael D’Addario. Both brothers are vocalists, songwriters and multi-instrumentalists, and are joined for most live performances by Megan Zeankowski on bass and Danny Ayala on keyboards and backing vocals.
The band was signed to British alternative music label 4AD in 2015. Their debut album, Do Hollywood, was released in October 2016 to widespread critical acclaim. A number of pop music figures have publicly expressed admiration for the Twigs: Elton John, The Zombies, Boy George, Laura Marling, Gilbert O'Sullivan, and Gary Brooker of Procol Harum.
Ronnie D'Addario began singing and playing, including bass guitar, professionally in his early twenties. He grew up listening to 1960's pop music. Ronnie played guitar with Tommy Makem of The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem fame for two decades in concerts, recordings, and TV shows.
His credits include an appearance on the Rosie O'Donnell Show, TV commercial jingles, and six PBS shows with Tommy Makem (where he performed with Judy Collins). He also produced the album, Live At the Irish Pavilion, a favorite among Makem fans, and has produced several other artists including Morning Star, Mary O'Dowd, Danny Quinn, and The Irish Mist. His song, "Falling for Love," was recorded by The Carpenters in 1981. His song,”Take In a Show” was featured on the TV Sitcom, “New Girl” in 2017.
Ronnie is the father of Brian and Michael of the Lemon Twigs who have recently toured the US, Europe, and Japan after the release of their first album, Do Hollywood. An article in the UK Guardian said the song "These Words" from that album could be a missing track from Todd Rundgren's Something/Anything? album. They recently brought out Rundgren at Coachella to perform "Couldn't I Just Tell You" as an encore.
The Lemon Twigs regularly perform their dad's song, "Love Stepped Out," from his first album, Take In a Show. Ronnie's last album is called A Very Short Dream. Ronnie has just finished a brand new album entitled, The Many Moods of Papa Twig. His music is available on www.youarethecosmos.com.

Mutlu opened for Todd Rundgren in 2016 at the Daytona Beach concert and he has recorded a cover of "Hello It's Me". He is the only artist besides Todd that has been a guest on Live From Daryl's House two times.
Mutlu is a soulful, singer-songwriter. A Philadelphia native and first-generation American of Turkish descent, Mutlu has already built a substantial fan base in his hometown, while winning widespread praise for his prior releases.
He's collaborated and toured extensively as a support act with legendary duo Daryl Hall & John Oates and holds the distinction of having made the most guest appearances on Daryl Hall's acclaimed, award-winning TV/Internet show "Live From Daryl's House". He's also gained considerable attention for his work with noted singer-songwriter Amos Lee, with whom he's toured extensively as a support act and backup vocalist. He was the support act on the North American leg of Joe Jackson's acclaimed "Rain" tour and has shared stages with the likes of Adele, Katy Perry, John Hiatt, Leon Russell, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Todd Rundgren, Shuggie Otis & many more.
Born Mutlu Onaral, he grew up steeped in Philadelphia's deep R&B traditions, eagerly absorbing the fundamentals of old-school soul music and incorporating it into his own musical persona. His local success led to a recording deal with Manhattan/EMI Records, which released his acclaimed 2008 debut album Livin' It, produced by the late, great T-Bone Wolk, and featuring guest appearances by Daryl Hall, Amos Lee, G. Love and Raheem DeVaughn. His latest release is the Hypnotize EP which he co-produced with songwriter/producer Darius Amendolia.

Todd, Kasim, Roger, and Willie bootleg action! The Ever Popular Tortured Bootlegger Warren has done it again. This is from a Kansas City show in 1978 and not the one that has been circulating around for years - this one is brand new to your ears! It was taken from a cassette so don't expect perfection but it's still a worthwhile listen.
From Warren ...
First and foremost, this is not the 1978-10-17 One Block West KC recording that is currently 'out there' in circulation. That is a local radio broadcast
of the first set that night.
THIS IS A MAGNIFICENT audience recording (MASTER Tape) of the second Show by Geoff Laurenzo. I know that I use the term 'soundboardish' a lot... but this a 'pro-grade' recording. What's funny is this was an old dirty broken cassette Geoff had just recently relocated. And asked me to see what I could do with it. I did have to put it in a new cassette shell. A labor of love, for I had to do little to this one other than leveling the channels and splitting the tracks. All performances are flawless, unfortunately we only get a small portion of the show due to only one tape. And Geoff had inadvertantly recorded over some of it with other artists. But I'm very excited about what we have here and being able to share this 'Back To The Bars' Era recording here. This one is ESSENTIAL. Thank you Geoff Laurenzo for 'striking' once again with a collectors gem!~ Warren
Todd Rundgren will be teaching classes at Notre Dame for a couple of weeks among other activities including events that fans can participate in! An underlying theme of the visit is “Play Like a Champion Today,” Notre Dame’s iconic athletics slogan, and how its meaning can be expanded to include the essential nature of Music Education. Guests Jean Lachowicz and Ed Vigdor from the Spirit of Harmony Foundation will be on hand to break it all down for you! Main events for fans are 9/30 and 10/1, 2016.
Ed Palermo's Big Band performed a show featuring Todd Rundgren music this year at the Iridium in NYC. It's not the first time the band has performed Todd's music, they have also performed a mashup of Todd and Zappa billed as Zodd Zundgren several times at the Iridium.
Ed is not a “business as usual” musician. After all, when most people think of “big bands” they think of Duke and Dorsey. But go to see Ed Palermo’s Big Band and you might hear Zappa, Rundgren, Hendrix, the blues of Paul Butterfield & Mike Bloomfield or one of Ed’s own compositions, loaded with lush turns and unexpected twists.
Before forming his own band, Ed toured and recorded with many different artists including Aretha Franklin, Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Celia Cruz, Lena Horne, Tony Bennett, Mel Torme, Lou Rawls, Melba Moore, Debbie Gibson, The Spinners and countless others. He has written and arranged for the Tonight Show, Maurice Hines and Eddy Fischer. He also arranged the music for a recent James Brown concert at the Hollywood Bowl.

DaM-FunK toured as Todd's DJ/Keyboardist during the recent TODD RUNDGREN GLOBAL TOUR 2015.
Damon “DaM-FunK” Riddick is the epitome of funk. Ever since debuting with Stones Throw in 2008, DaM-FunK has become one of the genres most passionate proselytizers, out to save it from devilish depictions of cartoonish caricature. To DaM, funk is a way of living, “a feeling of struggle and staying cool through it all.”
DaM-FunK grew up in the Los Angeles city/suburb of Pasadena. A ‘70s baby, he came of age in the era of the Uncle Jamm’s Army parties, of electro-pharaoh Egyptian Lover, of Prince’s purple reign. His parents nurtured his musical talents as a child and by his teens, he mastered the drums, then the drum machine. A chance encounter led to an apprenticeship under funk songwriter/producer Leon Sylvers III (SOLAR Records) and by the mid-90s G-Funk era in hip-hop, DaM found his musical skills in high demand by rappers such as Mack 10 and MC Eiht. “Everybody was trying to do the live instrumentation thing, so then you got cats like me playing on records,” DaM explains.

On June 2nd Brent's first album in 20 years, “Don’t Look Back,” will be released. The record features a ton of amazing collaborations, including Julian Lennon, Todd Rundgren, Charlie Peacock, Wayne Kirkpatrick, Rachael Lampa, Chris Rodriguez, and the first reunion in the studio of Bourgeois Tagg in 25 years.
Brent Bourgeois began performing on piano in Dallas clubs when he was only 13. He moved to California five years later with friend Larry Tagg and in 1984 formed the pop band Bourgeois Tagg with drummer Rick Walker and guitarist Lyle Workman. The group released a self-titled album in 1986 and Yoyo in 1987 (produced by Todd Rundgren). The single "Mutual Surrender (What a Wonderful World)" reached the charts in 1986, and the following year "I Don't Mind at All" hit the Top 40.
Joey Molland, the guitarist and sole surviving member of the British power-pop band Badfinger.
BADFINGER became an incredible force of virtuoso musicians churning out hit after hit while being supported by the biggest band in the world. The band’s first album was the soundtrack to the movie The Magic Christian (Magic Christian Music). Their follow-up album, No Dice spawned the Pete Ham penned classic “No Matter What” (#8 U.S. Hot 100 Hit -1970) and an Evans/Ham composition “Without You” which became a #1 Hit in 1971 for Harry Nilsson and a #3 Hit for Mariah Carey in 1994. No Dice reached #28 on Billboard’s Hot 200 albums chart.
The bands third album Straight Up was regarded by many to be their best. George Harrison had considerable input on the album including playing slide guitar on “Day After Day” (#4 on Billboard Hot 100 Chart in 1971). Leon Russell played piano on the track. The album also generated the hit single "Baby Blue" (#14 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart in 1972). George Harrison left before the album was completed to work on The Concert for Bangladesh and Todd Rundgren was brought in to finish the album. Production credits were shared between Harrison and Rundgren.
In more recent news, the popular TV show, Breaking Bad, finale ended with the Badfinger song, "Baby Blue".
Spirit of Harmony Foundation Executive Director Jean Lachowicz will be joining us to discuss iGive. Following Jean will be a recording of one of the five 2nd Wind Sessions.
April Fool's Edition!
"The Difference" was a nationally syndicated radio series hosted by Todd Rundgren in the late 90's. The shows consisted of music from all kinds of different musicians. This RR show will feature a replay of one of those radio shows.
Henry Saint Clair Fredericks, who goes by the stage name Taj Mahal, is an internationally recognized blues musician who folds various forms of world music into his offerings. A self-taught singer-songwriter who plays the guitar, banjo and harmonica (among many other instruments), Mahal has done much to reshape the definition and scope of blues music during his 40+ year career by fusing it with nontraditional forms, including sounds from the Caribbean, Africa and the South Pacific.
You may recall one of Todd's many epic appearances on television when he performed with Taj Mahal and Michele Gray in 1989 on the show Night Music hosted by David Sanborn? The song was "Never Mind the Why and Wherefore" from the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, H.M.S. Pinafore and they were accompanied by other musicians including Pat Metheny (guitar), Philippe Saisse (keyboards), Christian Marclay (turntables), and host David Sanborn (saxophone).

Todd also joined Taj onstage on the same show for a rendition of Mahal's "She Caught The Katy".

Gregg Rolie is responsible for co-founding two phenomenally popular, multi-platinum many times over super groups that indeed are, SANTANA and JOURNEY. In 1998, the world class keyboardist-vocalist-producer was inducted into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall Of Fame as part of the original Santana band. In addition to launching- along with Carlos Santana - the
now legendary act, Rolie also co-produced their first four groundbreaking albums.
What’s more, his singing talents will forever be immortalized by his unforgettable lead vocals on classic Santana greatest hits including “Black Magic Woman” “Evil Ways” and the Tito Puente composition “Oye Como Va”.
Thinking back to his first concert experience, seeing none other than Jimi Hendrix live in Ottawa, Canada back in ’66, it’s no wonder that guitarist Pat Travers took the musical path that he did. Taking inspiration from some of the top players of the day, including said left-handed genius, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck, Travers had already made a name for himself in his teens before joining ’50s rocker Ronnie Hawkins’ band and hitting the road. While this may have been enough for many guitarists, Travers left Hawkins’ band after only a year, ventured out into the unknown and created twenty-five plus years of memorable music along the way. (Dr. Matt Warnock, Guitar International)
Pat first performed with Todd on Saturday Night Live for the songs Healer and Time Heals. He recently performed with Todd again during the RR NYE 2013 event after starting the night with Pat Travers Band as support and then joining Todd onstage for a while.
