This week Opposition Leader Bill Shorten announced Labor's intention to "implement Australia’s first national electric vehicle policy, setting a national electric vehicle target of 50 per cent new car sales by 2030".
Later on Kiis FM's Kyle and Jackie O Show, Mr Shorten claimed it takes between eight and ten minutes to charge an electric car.
Trent Nikolic is the Managing Editor of Caradvice.com.au and he spoke with Jane about the target as well as current charging times.

On Marwick on Sunday Gippy Goat Cafe founder John Gommans told Jane how his beloved goat Angel was stolen for the second time.
In December Angel, along with several other animals were stolen by "seventy-odd vegans" and later found by police in a "bad way" with some goats dressed in nappies.
Angel, who was being held for evidence ahead of a hearing tomorrow, was stolen for the second time at the end of January. She has not been found.

Capel Shire Councillor, Michael Southwell told Jane he was expected to "Just follow the leader, be quiet and just let the CEO do everything".
"I thought that my role as a councillor was to represent the rate payers that put me there, represent their interests and speak on their behalf and be a voice for them...and that's got me in a little bit of trouble here and there (and) a few reports to...the local government standards panel," Mr Southwell said.
This prompted City of Canning Councillor Patrick Hall to phone in.
"Often councillors are the conduit between the community and the city," Mr Hall said.
"We talk often about transparency and openess and the standard around local government but how genuine it is I'm not absolutely certain," he said.
"The template used by WALGA talks about the tone of communication, how do you judge the tone."

Mark Todd is synonymous with the sport of Eventing.
Since he started competing at the top in 1978 when he was part of New Zealand's first 3-day Eventing team to contest a world championship, he has gone on to record numerous successes at the very highest level.
His unsurpassable triumphs have been rewarded with the MBE (1984), the CBE (1995), in 2000 he was voted the Évent Rider of the 20th Century' by FEI and he received a Knighthood in 2013.
He is currently based in England but he's on his way to Perth for an event called Equestrian in the Park.

On Marwick on Sunday Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack spoke with Jane and Nathan Hondros about drought relief, climate change and Nauru.
Mr McCormack told Jane that Peter Dutton, the Home Affairs Minister is a "very compassionate man".
"Any of the children who have had welfare issues and there have been health concerns which have been brought to the attention of the government have come to Australia for treatment," Mr McCormack said.
"It's a very delicate topic of course and there are those children who are on Nauru...do you break up a family unit because their parents and adults in their family group have have histories which don't match up with what we would want to see," he said.
"People who come to Australia need to share our values, they need to share our common belief and need to be able to integrate into society."

For many Australian’s watching the news can feel like an exercise in futility, we witness the devastating, human toll that natural disasters take on countries and civilians around the world, with a kind of detached helplessness.
Backpacker Medics is an entirely volunteer run and donation funded organisation which travels by foot providing first aid and supplies. This team, comprised of WA’s first responders and trauma specialists run their own operation, pay for their own flights and take leave from work to help people affected by natural disasters.
They’re currently in Sulawesi in a village on the east coast and volunteer Andrew Clark spoke with Jo McManus about the situation on the ground.
