Since 2000 Shihan Dai Cecere has gone on to distinguish himself as Master Instructor of close quarter combat and advanced arrest and control techniques. He has taught at the John F Kennedy School of Special Warfare at Fort Bragg NC, The US Naval War College, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and the Inter-American Air Force Academy at Lackland AFB San Antonio, Texas. His students have included members of the FBI and US Secret Service, the National Security Agency (NSA), US Army's Rangers, the 82nd Airborne and the US Special Forces including the US Army's Green Berets and Delta Force Operators to name only a few.

Join Restita and Robert as they welcome martial artist and actor Roger Lowe to the show! Roger was born and raised in Vancouver, B.C., Canada to Chinese parents. He lived in Victoria, B.C. until the age of 10. His parents moved back to Vancouver and Roger then became interested in drumming when his father, Harry, took him to a Burlesque show. Roger was fascinated and influenced by the energy of the drummer who later became his teacher. As a free lance drummer, Roger played every major hotel in Vegas.
While in Vegas, he began studying Kung Fu martial arts, which later helped him perform fight scenes in film and television. He joined SAG in Las Vegas, auditioned and landed his first speaking role in the film, "The Gauntlet" starring Clint Eastwood.
Continuing to act in various roles for TV series, Roger appeared in "Vega$" with Robert Urich for several seasons as well as "Kojak" and film roles such as "The Electric Horseman" starring Robert Redford and Jane Fonda, "Cannonball Run" starring Burt Reynolds and "Megaforce" starring Barry Bostwick.
Moving to Los Angeles, Roger landed roles in soap operas, feature films, television and commercials. With his recognition as an action/fight/stunt performer, Roger was inducted into the Honor Roll of Martial Arts by founder Michael Matsuda at the Martial Arts History Museum in Burbank, California.
Currently Roger appears in the world-wide commercial for "Clash of Clans" a popular internet game, starring two-time Academy Award winner Cristoph Waltz.

Richard is presently the Founder and Chief Instructor of the IMB (International Martial arts & Boxing) Academy in Torrance, California USA
A native of Hawaii, Richard has over 65 years of martial arts experience. He began judo training at age 8 at the Gray Y Center in Palolo Valley, Hawaii. At age 19, Richard competed in boxing tournaments such as the Golden Gloves, Silver Gloves, Blue & Gold and other amateur boxing shows for Shaw's Boxing Gym in Los Angeles. At age 24 Richard studied Jeet Kune Do under the legendary Bruce Lee at the Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute in China Town, Los Angeles.
In 1967, with training partner Dan Inosanto, Richard researched and studied the Filipino martial arts of kali/escrima/arnis. Richard and Dan are given credit and honored worldwide for reviving and promoting the martial arts of the Philippines. In 1976, Richard was promoted by Sifu Inosanto to senior instructor level in Bruce Lee's Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do. In 1978 Richard studied Muay Thai and achieved the title Kru (teacher) in 1985 from Thailand's former Olympian and Muay Thai Champion Nanfa “Lot” (Chiridichoi) Satenglam. Mr. Bustillo was certified by the USA Olympic Training Center as a coach and official for the U.S. Amateur Boxing of Southern California. He is a certified Sensei (instructor) with the Catchascatchcan Wrestling Association of Japan and a Guro (instructor) in the Filipino arts of Kali-Escrima-Arnis. Presently Richard is training with the Machado (Brazilian) Jujitsu USA Team for fitness and health. Richard was awarded a 11th degree Black Belt and the title Senior Grand Master by the fame Cacoy Doce Pares organization of Cebu City, Philippines

Crystal learned boxing from her father, and later studied Muay Thai. After beginning with Grandmaster Eric Lee and studying Kung Fu, she fell in love with it and enjoyed learning the style and still actively trains with her Sifu Grand Master Eric Lee and in Wing Chun with her other Sifu Grand Master Samuel Kwok who have become like fathers to her. Crystal is internationally recognized in Martial Arts Halls of Fame as a Master in Kung Fu.
She started in the stunt industry and has many great mentors. While working as a stuntwoman she studied with Master Simon Rhee and with Grand Master Gene Lebell and stunt car driving with Rick Seaman. She became a dual Bullwhip Master under the instruction of Noby Arden-Kreish of the Wallenda circus family, also, Crystal is a member of the Devil Dog Tactical Weaponry team and has been trained by Marine Robert Garcia. . She went on to action acting and enjoys a successful career as an Action Actress. Her career as an action actress has flourished because she is one of the few action actresses that can do all of her own stunts and does not need a stunt double, bringing an real element of storytelling to any film or show she is involved in. Her many credits include, Bare Knuckles, War of the Worlds, Lone Ranger, The Monk, Argo, Death Proof, CSI, Gang Related, The Martial Arts Kid, and her upcoming film The Boom Boom Girls of Wrestling, to name a few.

Steve started the martial arts with a Park District Judo club at 9 years old. He then began his striking training in Goju Shorei Karate at the age of 12. After just over four years, Later he discovered a gym about an hour away that was teaching Muay Thai and the head instructor was certified by Sifu Larry Hartsell in Jeet Kune Do. At 20 years old he was finally studying Bruce Lee's art and has been doing so ever since. Some minor and major injuries have side lines him, but he always returned to his passion. Steve continues to train with Sifu/Guro Dan Inosanto to this day.

Malia Bernal began studying Wun Hop Kuen Do at the age of 22. She trained in Wun Hop Kuen Do under WHKD founder Grandmaster Al Dacascos. Malia loved the martial arts and was a forms champion during the 1970’s.
“I knew it was for me the minute I knew I could compete and I had the opportunity to be #1.” She says.
Although not allowed to participate in sports as a young girl, Malia says her school teachers encouraged her to excel in whatever she wanted to do. Malia says she was born a fighter, competitor. She would fight for anything that was a challenge.
Malia Bernal not only broke boundaries for gender, but she insisted on competing with male martial artists as their equal. She was the woman who transformed the movement and look of competitive forms. She pushed the softer Kung Fu style to the forefront, designing uniforms that emphasized grace and line. When she performed, she was captivating. She would catch the attention of the entire room and everyone would stop to watch her. She is one of the few, if only, competitor asked to break down her forms for the judges’ panel.
In September 1974, Malia Bernal made history as the first woman on the cover of Black Belt Magazine. A pioneer of women in the martial arts, Sigung Malia dominated the tournament circuit in the late 1960s and early 70s. She reigned as the Number One Woman Fighter and Number One Woman in Kata (forms) in the United States for five consecutive years. She would eventually earn almost 400 awards and titles, including Best All-Around Competitor. She is the only female three-time recipient of the coveted Golden Fist Award, and she made a name for herself in a predominately male sport She become a Kung Fu legend and an internationally recognized champion.

TOY LEI has had a fascination with action films ever since her parents took her to Chinatown as a kid to watch kung-fu movies every Saturday afternoon. After lamenting the lack of roles for Asian females over 30, she began writing, directing, and producing her own projects. Her directorial debut, THE WEDDING, won her the Top 5 Women Filmmakers award from the Asian-American Film Lab and New York Women in Film and Television. Her latest, BOXER, won not only Best Actress, Best Action and the Grand Prize at the 2015 Asian-American Film Lab 72-hr Shootout, but also won Awards of Merit from the highly competitive Accolade Competition for Short Film, Women Filmmakers and Leading Actress. The film opened its fest run at the coveted Etheria Film Night and winning Best Action. It continued strong into the 2016 San Diego Comic-con. Toy, one of the handful of female fight choreographers out there, is currently under a directing mentorship with Grace Moss at NBC/Universal and a stunt/action filmmaking mentorship with Lane Leavitt.

Meet Mark Chabus, meditation instructor, workshop leader and life coach. Chabus’ story began in late 2001 when his girlfriend perished in the tragic attacks on September 11th. The emotional trauma caused him to suffer from anxiety, panic attacks and depression as well as other health issues. After finding meditation and embarking on a journey toward self discovery, he was able to heal himself and successfully begin anew.
Chabus wrote about his downfall and inspiring comeback in his book, Remembering Your Spirit,a story about 9/11, life after death and learning to heal. After the book was released, he shifted gears from cheffing to public speaking, teaching and coaching. Chabus has a BS in Psychology from SUNY Oneonta, leadership training from Harvard University and received his coaching training from Robbins-Madanes Strategic Intervention. His other trainings include Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Breathwork Meditation, Reiki and Hypnotherapy.
Chabus runs weekly meditation classes on Long Island, in New York City and New Jersey. He also offers private coaching, monthly meditation workshops and quarterly retreats. He currently resides in New Jersey with his wife and three children.

Martial Arts is a wonderful extracurricular activity for those with special needs, especially kids with Autism or other sensory-processing issues. The repetition, the familiar curriculum, the familiar faces at each class....each aspect of martial arts allows those with special needs to shine and participate on par with classmates.

Kathy Long started martial arts when she was fifteen. She holds a Master degree in Kung Fu San Soo as well as a black belt in Aikido. She has also trained in Kali (Filipino stick and knife fighting) and Brazilian Jui-jitsu.
In 1991 Kathy was voted Woman of the Year by the Black Belt Hall of Fame, and in 1992 she was chosen by Inside Kung Fu magazine as Female of the Year. The five time world Kickboxing Champion was honored by Black Belt Magazine as Kickboxer of the Year in 1992. In 1996 she was inducted into the Bob Elias Sports Hall of Fame as well as several others throughout her career.

Toy Lei is a native New Yorker who is a California transplant. She’s had a fascination with action movies since her parents took her to Chinatown to watch kung fu movies and her in-depth participation in THE HURRICANE FIST (which was an homage to that genre) debuted at Comic-con. She has been seen in episodic television such as PARENTHOOD, HAPPY ENDINGS and WEIRD LONERS. ROAD WARS is one of the several independent features, shorts and web series you can also find her in. Her directorial, writing and producing debut, THE WEDDING, won her the Top 5 Women Filmmakers award from the Asian-American Film Lab and New York Women in Film and Television.

Once again, I am so honored and delighted to have as my special guest tonight Frans Stiene of The International House of Reiki. I came to know of Frans and Bronwen Stiene early on in my reiki practice and love them both and their teachings. They have done remarkable work bringing true reiki to the world and are making wonderful strides in reiki globally. I was fortunate enough to experience a reiki session from Frans in NYC badk in October of 2010. In a word...marvelous! I also enjoyed being in Frans' company in 2012 during the NYC Reiki Conference.
Frans Stiene's practical understanding of the Japanese influences on the system have allowed students around the world to connect deeply with this practise.
Frans is a co-founder of the International House of Reiki. He is also the co-author of the critically acclaimed books The Reiki Sourcebook, The contents of what Frans teaches is formed by what has been practised in Japan since the early 1900s, long before the system of Reiki left Japan, and the researched influences on the system (see the five elements of the system of Reiki for more information). This particular method includes physical and energy enhancing exercises to help practitioners delve deeper into their Reiki practice. The earlier teachings consider the system not just to be a hands-on-healing practice but one that also focuses on a student’s spiritual path.

Art Camacho began his film career as an actor, appearing in various action films and television programs. He then went on to producer and direct commercials prior to making films. His background in martial arts and fighting helped him make the transition to Fight choreography in martial arts action films. With over 35 action films under his belt as a fight choreographer he was dubbed "The Fight Master" by the leading martial arts publications. Camacho then became a successful feature film director/Producer. In most of his action films Camacho also choreographed the action. His latest film is "The Chemist" released in September 2015.
He began his martial arts training in Karate but gravitated towards kung ku. On his way to getting his black belt under kung ku great Eric Lee, he trained in various other methods of martial arts including Kung Fu San Soo, Jeet Kune Do and he was also an amateur boxer.

In Reiki practice, one will often come across situations where, for various reasons, one cannot utilize the basic form of 'hands-on' treatment.
In some cases, such as where the client is suffering from burns, or an open wound of some sort, the need for hands-on contact can be circumvented by giving treatment with the hands held a few inches off the surface of the body (in the aura).
However, there will be situations where even the close proximity of the hands (even though not touching the client), can have potentially traumatic effects [various forms of abuse come to mind].
Especially in such cases, Koki ho – Healing with Breath can be used effectively, as well as Gyoshi ho – Healing with the Eyes and Heso Chiryo ho

Kandi Mullen is a Reiki Master, Life Coach, Wellness Consultant and owner of Reiki 4 Well Being. She completed her Reiki master training (Usui Shiki Ryoho) in 2009 and through her personal commitment to her daily practice was inspired to become a professional Reiki practitioner and educator. Starting Martial Arts in 1970 in the Chuck Norris System of Tang Soo Do, Grand Master Shuey received his 1st degree Black Belt in 1978 under Master Harold Gross, Master Dennis Itchakawa and Master Neil Citron, and started teaching the martial arts in 1979. In September of 1999 he was promoted to 7th degree by the USMA and ICHF.
Mark has degrees in Tang Soo Do, Tae Kwon Do, and Hapkido. He has a Master's Certification with USNKA (United States National Karate Assoc.), ATAMA (American Teacher's Assoc. of the Martial Arts), USMA (United States Martial Arts Association), as well as the Independent Karate School Association. Mark is also the Head of Cane Instruction and Nevada State Director for the International Combat Hapkido Federation.
In 1998, he was inducted into the Martial Arts Masters, Pioneers, and Legends Hall of Fame as a "Master Instructor", as well as 1999. The year 2000 saw Shuey inducted into the USMA Hall of Fame, as well as the prestigious World Head of Family Sokeship Hall of Fame. In 2001, he was honored by induction to the Action Martial Arts Hall of Fame, International Association of Karate, Kobudo, Puerto Rico Hall of Fame and USMA. Also in 2001, Mark was appointed to the Board on the World Sokeship. In 2003, Mark was inducted into the Black Belt Magazine Hall of Fame as "Weapons Instructor of the Year".

Kathleen Prasad has been a life-long animal lover and an educator for over fifteen years. After receiving her BA in History from U.C. Berkeley in 1991 and her California Teaching Credential from Sacramento State University in 1993, Kathleen went on to teach History, Social Studies, English, and Drama in the San Francisco public schools for nine years. In the course of these years, she designed curriculum and community projects for her students in animal kindness, encouraging volunteer work in animal shelters. In 1998 she learned Reiki and began regularly volunteering Reiki with local shelter animals.
Inspired by her volunteer experiences, Kathleen decided to dedicate her teaching career to Animal Reiki full-time in 2002. Since then, she has authored Reiki for Dogs, co-authored the books The Animal Reiki Handbook and Animal Reiki: Using Energy to Heal the Animals in Your Life and written many educational articles on animals and Reiki for holistic publications around the world. Dr. Sheldon Feldman is chief of breast surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center and assistant professor of surgery at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons where he oversees the breast cancer surgery program at the Comprehensive Breast Center of the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia, and work in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of radiologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, plastic surgeons and other breast cancer support staff.
Dr. Feldman is helping to pioneer the use of the ductoscope, a tiny endoscope inserted through the patient's nipple used for diagnosis, surveillance and treatment of cancer patients. His research using the device may help lead to a simple test for early diagnosis that could eventually be the equivalent of a Pap smear for breast cancer. Dr. Feldman anticipates that the intraductal approach will ultimately be used to treat early breast cancer as well as ablating the milk ducts to prevent cancer development for high-risk women as an alternative to mastectomy.
A leader in minimally invasive breast cancer surgery, Dr. Feldman was instrumental in developing the transmammary axillary lymph node evaluation (TANE) procedure, which requires only a single incision for lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy. He is also an expert in oncoplastic skin-sparing and nipple-preserving mastectomy.
His research interests are focused on preventing the disease through a better understanding of environmental toxins linked to breast cancer, including chlorinated pesticides, PCBs and PBDEs, and he is helping to investigate new biopharmaceutical treatments, including green tea extract and vitamin D.

Born in Florida and raised in Newark, New Jersey, Gloria's first job was as an assistant to the legal secretary in the New York office of the NAACP. She also became a model around this time. This exposure led to her being cast in her first movie, For Love Of Ivy (1968). In the 1970s, she became a popular star of actioner films such as Black Ceasar (1973) and Black Belt Jones (1974). Gloria made history as the very first romantically involved African-American James Bond girl. The movie was Live and Let Die (1973).

Dominick was also involved in another life changing accident while riding his motor bike in 2006, his was far worse. Medivacked to Morristown hospital he was in serious trouble and actually flat lined. He had broken, fractured and crushed most of the major bones in his body and his whole body swelled up to twice its normal size. After 2 days of surgeries he was in for a long recovery and was told he may not walk again normally and would be very limited with his range of motion. Dominicks attitude key to his recovery. He turned inwards, he remained positive and determined and very calm & centered throughout the whole ordeal knowing he would come out ok. After more surgeries and PT and continued TP and massage Dom eventually recovered and walks normally, can run (they said he never would) and has almost full range of motion in all limbs. To look at him today you would never know he had been through such a traumatic accident.

Its a difficult subject to pin down,because context changes the meaning between 'discipline' and 'abuse'. As martial artists we know of the 'pushup consequence'....act innapropriately or disregard a rule, and a teacher would sometimes drop a student for 10 or 20 pushups as a 'wakeup call'....but if the teacher singles out a student for pushups, publicly berates them for the tiniest of infractions, or even withholds rank promotion for unspecified reasons or reasons that have no merit, that is considered abuse.

Restita DeJesus began her martial arts training in 1978 and has been teaching martial arts to people of all ages since 1982, specializing in children’s classes. The Ki Do Kan System is derived from Kajukembo . Professor McDaniel began studying Kajukembo Karate in 1973 at the age of 13, and promoted to black belt in 1977. He was promoted to certified instructor in 1988, endorsed by the Kajukenbo founder Sijo Adriano Emperado and received masters certification in 2002 under Master Richard Peralta. In 2004, he developed his method, "The Noble Way", i.e. "Ki Do Kan". Professor McDaniel is recognized by the World Black Belt Council, and is an inductee in the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame (2013), as slated to be inducted into the Masters Hall of Fame 2015.
Professor McDaniel is also an avid bass guitarist, poem and philosophy writer, and I has a line of martial arts posters coming soon that will be on the market soon,powered by "Noble Concepts Unlimited." He is also active in mentor programs for local children's organizations. His biggest inspiration as a young boy was watching Jim Kelly who is also and African American, which told him " If I could do it, You can do it. "

With a background in various arts, in Rocky R. Twitchell's early years he studied under a Savate Instructor named Shane Milone'.Taking Rogh & Tumble Savate to stop bieng picked on by bullies at High School was his main reason for taking the lessons given by Shane Milone', but those Savate lessons would be the foundation for many other Instructors in the years to come. Once Rocky learned a few concepts from the Art of Savate, (basically just stand up to the bullies) they would eventully leave him alone. By his Junior year in High School he had the confidence to stand up for himself and he had the confidence to stand up for others if they were picked on by bullies. Portola High School, located in Portola CA also had boxing during Physical Education once a year and his skills from Savate plus the boxing from P.E., planted a seed in his mind that would slowly grow to training along side World Boxing Champions and World Class Martial Arts Instructors.Graduating from Portola High School he found himself living and training with his father Rocky H. Twitchell in Southern Utah. Once he moved in with his father and found a place to hang his punching bag the rest was History.
The Caregiver
When a loved one becomes chronically or terminally ill, it is the primary caregiver that often becomes the silent sufferer, experiencing a sense of exhaustion, frustration, hopelessness and despair and what has been called "caregiver burn-out".
What IF there was a way to give a caregiver the ability to provide Reiki for themselves and their sick, injured or dying loved one? It has been documented that Reiki can provide emotional and mental calm, stress reduction, and physical comfort (pain reduction).
Reiki can therefor support both the primary caregivers who care for their loved one and the chronically or terminally ill patient. Having the ability to give Reiki to those who are chronically or terminally ill can empower the caregiver and relieve them of the feeling of helplessness which can be very common in such situations.

Tony E. Collins began his career in martial arts at the age of 7 with Vincent Matassa; learning Tae Kwon Do and Okinawa Kenpo. At the age of 17, he moved on to Bujinkan Ninjutsu and was privileged to train under Masaki Hatsumi at age 20. At the age of 21, Tony joined John Herman and Brandon Songer of Ed Parker American Kenpo. Ranked as one of very few Tenth Degree Black Belts in Kenpo; Tony acquired his nickname, Akuma, from Brandon Songer after his infamous fight in Las Vegas in 1993. Now, Tony is the Grandmaster and President of his own organization, Akuma Ryu Kenpo Karate, and has gone on to study many different martial arts and incorperate them into his ever growing martial art style. “Kenpo is about learning to adapt, this means building and growing on the foundation I have offered, and striving to move on farther than I have."

After graduating Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford, with studies across a broad range of Social Sciences, I immersed in learning bodywork and somatic healing. I earned my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology at Antioch West University in San Francisco, then worked in private practice and on staff at the Institute for Personal Change.
During that time I established and was Chief Instructor of the Women’s Aikido School / Aikido Arts Center of SF (1980-1994), and began teaching nationally, in the ex-Soviet Union, Canada and Israel.
In the mid-1990s I lived in Jerusalem, taught Aikido and mind-body healing work, and became involved in Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts. Upon returning to the US and San Diego, I learned further modalities to recover from long-standing sports injuries and adrenal exhaustion. In 2000 I created KiAi Golf, joined the LPGA, and founded The KiAi Way Inc. to bring innovative high performance principles and practices to golf and sports, leadership, workplace wellness, communication and conflict resolution, to individuals and in the corporate and non-profit business arenas.
Dr. Sheldon Feldman is chief of breast surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center and assistant professor of surgery at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons where he oversees the breast cancer surgery program at the Comprehensive Breast Center of the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia, and work in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of radiologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, plastic surgeons and other breast cancer support staff.
Dr. Feldman is helping to pioneer the use of the ductoscope, a tiny endoscope inserted through the patient's nipple used for diagnosis, surveillance and treatment of cancer patients. His research using the device may help lead to a simple test for early diagnosis that could eventually be the equivalent of a Pap smear for breast cancer. Dr. Feldman anticipates that the intraductal approach will ultimately be used to treat early breast cancer as well as ablating the milk ducts to prevent cancer development for high-risk women as an alternative to mastectomy.
A leader in minimally invasive breast cancer surgery, Dr. Feldman was instrumental in developing the transmammary axillary lymph node evaluation (TANE) procedure, which requires only a single incision for lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy. He is also an expert in oncoplastic skin-sparing and nipple-preserving mastectomy.
His research interests are focused on preventing the disease through a better understanding of environmental toxins linked to breast cancer, including chlorinated pesticides, PCBs and PBDEs, and he is helping to investigate new biopharmaceutical treatments, including green tea extract and vitamin D.

Nikki completed her Reiki Master Teacher level training in Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki in June 2010 and is a member of the International Association of Reiki Professionals. She received her Reiki I through Teacher-level training from Libby Barnett of the Reiki Healing Connection who teaches the Usui traditional style brought to the U.S. & taught by Mrs. Hawayo Takata. Mari Hall is a multifaceted woman; a Life Skills Coach, Trainer, and Motivational Speaker. Her focus is on providing individual and couples skills to return to a balanced state. She specializes in stress reduction, women’s’ issues and family mediation services. Her goals are to continue to inspire people to remember their birthright and live life fully.
Mari has been a teacher/practitioner of Reiki for over 30 years. She has a private practice and also does distance work and phone consultations. She travels to teach all over the world.
She taught and lived in Europe for over 18 years. During that time she founded and still directs the International Association of Reiki. Through this association she has taught over 50,000 people Reiki and authored and had 9 books published on Reiki in many different languages.
In 2009 Mari met Tadao Yamaguchi in Bogotá, Columbia where they were speaking at a Reiki Conference with Arjava Petter. She took her first Shoden and Okuden courses in Bogotá with Tadao and Arjava. She became a Shihan Kaku or assistant teacher of Jikiden Reiki in May 2011 and has assisted in a large number of courses since 2009 with Arjava. The seminars replicate those taught in 1930s and are based on over 65 years of treatment experience. She became a Shihan in May 2013.
Mari is also a designer of very special one of kind prayer beads. Her designs incorporate precious and semi precious stones and prayer. She has an extensive web site devoted to the use of prayer, mantras and beads for health and harmony.

Bram Frank is a first generation personal student, and disciple of the late Grandmaster Remy Presas, the Father and Founder of Modern Arnis. He was with Professor Presas from 1980 till his untimely demise in 2001. Bram has studied various fighting arts such as Wing Chun, JKD, American Freestyle Karate for over 46 years and has taken the principles from each as they can be applied to Filipino Martial Arts. Bram holds Dan rank in several arts and has been Director of Blunt & Edged weapons training for several federations worldwide. Currently he is Director of Edged Weapons training @ the S2 Law Enforcement-Security Institute. Over the last several years Bram has concentrated on the use of edged weapons / tools as a principle instrument of self defense and its use in Military, Police and Anti Terror applications.
The World Head of Sokeship Grandmaster Council has recently recognized Bram as the First Modern Grandmaster on their council: the Grandmaster of a Tactical –Combative Fighting art: Common Sense: Self Defense- Street Combat and its Tactical application Modular Martial Blade Craft. In December of 2007 Bram was Black Belt Magazines Hall of Fame Weapons Instructor of the Year.
In 2007 Dr Dennis Hanover and those in Israel recognized Bram after over a decade of teaching knife & knife combatives in Israel, as the Father of Israeli Knife Fighting.-Knife Combatives. He was recently recognized as the Guardian of the Legacy of Presas Bolo in the Philippines. In 2014 BLADE Magazine honored Bram with a membership in Knife makers Showcase: the first knife designer honored in the custom blade makers membership for his unique designs and impact on the knife community over the last 2 decades.
Shirushi: What’s their importance?
The Shirushi (Reiki symbols) indeed do have their function. They do their ‘thing’ when used both during local and distance healing, as well as attunements. Choku Rei, Seiheiki, Hon sha ze sho nen and Dai Ko Myo are the four traditional symbols used within the Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki. There are however other reiki branches which uses the same symbols such as Jikiden Reiki. Other Reiki traditions such as the Raku Kei Reiki uses symbols such as Raku, Fire Serpent and more.
The four traditional reiki symbols are not as secret as they are sacred. Using the Dai Ko Myo as example: It is made up by general Kanjis which are supposed to be known by fourth grade primary school students! It is not a symbol in and by itself, but when used in proper context it allows for the attunement process to take place.
The HSZSN symbol is another form of kanji, albeit stylized, which are known by primary school students as well. Nothing super secret there, huh? Used in proper context – this symbol is used for distance healing, as the initiating symbol to create a connection to the client.
Choku Rei and Sei Hei ki symbols have traces back to the Kurama Kokyo Sect (buddhism) as well as shinto practices, as symbol for a specific deity. This is not unlike the Makoto no kokyo ho meditation which uses the sun mudra nichirin-in during it’s second last part, forming a triangle infront of ones forehead before vibrating sancript OM, or as it is a japanese version – ON on the exhale.
The ‘symbols’ are abstract things, not having overly much power or importance by themselves. But they are part of the usui shiki ryoho tradition, and cannot be explained by words. It is said that they have to be experienced.

I am so honored and delighted to have back here on Violet ReikiRadio for the second time as my special guest, Frans Stiene of The International House of Reiki. I came to know of Frans and Bronwen Stiene early on in my reiki practice and love them both and their teachings. They have done remarkable work bringing true reiki to the world and are making wonderful strides in reiki globally. I was fortunate enough to experience a reiki session from Frans in NYC badk in October of 2010. In a word...marvelous! I also enjoyed being in Frans' company in 2012 during the NYC Reiki Conference.
Frans Stiene's practical understanding of the Japanese influences on the system have allowed students around the world to connect deeply with this practise.
Frans is a co-founder of the International House of Reiki. He is also the co-author of the critically acclaimed books The Reiki Sourcebook, The contents of what Frans teaches is formed by what has been practised in Japan since the early 1900s, long before the system of Reiki left Japan, and the researched influences on the system (see the five elements of the system of Reiki for more information). This particular method includes physical and energy enhancing exercises to help practitioners delve deeper into their Reiki practice. The earlier teachings consider the system not just to be a hands-on-healing practice but one that also focuses on a student’s spiritual path.

Reiki has recently become a popular choice of therapy for treating clients with anxiety. It is an effective cure for anxiety as the cause of the anxiety is treated rather than just the symptoms. Reiki treats the client as a whole and will deal with many issues. Reiki treats the mind, body and soul, not just the symptoms that the client presents with.
The symptoms of anxiety often include insomnia, irritability, fear, lack of interest or motivation, fatigue, panic attacks, heart palpitations and chest pain. People suffering with anxiety will often have an unreasonable fear of something, it could be a fear of public speaking, fear of open spaces, fear of the unknown etc. which can lead to panic attacks.

Leo T. Fong Methodist Minister, Martial Artist, Fitness Coach, Filmmaker
Leo T. Fong was born on November 23rd, 1928. He is one of the most respected martial artists in the community today. Leo was born in Canton, China. When he was five years old, his family emigrated to the United States. At the age of 15, Leo began training as an amateur boxer and was also called to be an ordained Methodist Minister. In 1958, Leo was introduced to Kung Fu, studying Choy Li Fut and Sil Lim. In the early sixties, Leo met Bruce Lee and became his student, eventually inspiring many of the innovative techniques of JKD.
In the 1970's, Leo Fong went to Hong Kong and started a career in martial arts films. When he returned to the USA he started producing, directing and continued acting in films. Mr. Fong is a retired minister, a film producer, and a martial arts teacher. He has created his own style of martial art known as Wei Kuen Do, which is not just a fighting art, but a style to bring inner peace to the body.

He is also accomplished athlete in other sports, having competed in world championships, Olympic trials, and/or international competition, ice hockey, yachting, and track-and-field. In addition to his black belt in judo, he holds rankings in karate, and aikido, and he is a licensed NASCAR driver.

Reiki for Alzheimer’s, Depression, Anxiety, Caregiver Stress, Pain
Scientific validation of the effectiveness of Reiki has helped bring this method more and more to the mainstream, where it is able to aid patients in many realms. There are several vital areas where Reiki and other touch/energy therapies significantly aid people with dementia and their caregivers. The first is that there is an indication from published, peer-reviewed research that Reiki can help address memory issues in people with mild cognitive impairment and mild Alzheimer’s.
There are also several other published studies that demonstrate that Reiki helps both depression and anxiety both among people with chronic medical issues, as well as in those do not. One of the often reported outcomes of Reiki treatment is a state of calm relaxation. In that dementia patients can have problems with agitation, Reiki’s calming influence can be greatly appreciated.
Dementia patients often have other significant medical issues that might cause them to experience chronic or episodic pain. Using narcotic medication in people with cognitive impairment can make that impairment worse, so finding effective non-narcotic interventions that reduce pain can be vital. Several research studies studies show that pain can be significantly reduced through the use of Reiki, both in cases where the pain is chronic and short-term.

His title defense against Don King's heavy weight fighter Kareem Allah was seen by over fifty million viewers as a preview before the Ali vs. Frazier World Boxing Title Fight, known as the "Thrilla in Manila." He was coach of the World Champion United States Karate Team and the Junior National Team. He is a member of the Black Belt Hall of Fame, the first recipient of the Bruce Lee Award (selected by Mrs. Bruce Lee and Karate Magazine) and listed in the Who's Who of Martial Arts. Jeff is one of karate's legends along with Chuch Norris, Bruce Lee, Joe Lewis and Bill Wallace.
Inga Van Ardenn, a Tae Kwon Do World Champion, Fifth-Degree Black Belt and 5-time European Martial Arts Champion best known for her 2013 action short "Crossing Shadows", has been cast in "The Martial Arts Kid". Van Ardenn was born in Russia and she started practicing Tae Kwon Do at the age of 11. She eventually became an International Tae Kwon Do Instructor and Captain of the Russian National Tae Kwon Do Team. Van Ardenn would go on to attain incredible heights of success. She became a FifRussian Tae Kwon Do Chapmion an amazing SEVEN YEARS IN A ROW! a 5-time European Chanpion and then reached the pinnacle when she became a Tae Kwan Do World Champion

Her stunt work can be seen in a number of Hollywood productions, including Batman and Robin, and The Next Karate Kid. She has appeared on TV in WMAC Masters & Mortal Kombat Annihilation, and did the martial arts choreography for the film Champions of the Deep (2012).
Marcos began intensive training in: Karate Taekwondo, Muay Thai, Capoeira, and Hapkido, and has more than twenty years of training in these forms. Marcus holds the rank of Kru in Muay Thai and also trains in other martial art forms including: Kung Fu, Boxing, Judo, Ninjitsu, and Gracie Jui Jitsu. He is the NJ StateTaekwondo Champion 1994, YB Choi Taekwondo Invitational Champion 1995, and the Muay Thai Warriors Cup Super-Heavy Weight Champion 2010. He was also a certified personal trainer, gym owner, professional fighter, bodyguard, and has taught martial arts and self-defense locally and internationally for the last twenty-four years. Marcus also works as an actor and stuntman.
Paul Sutherland was born on 5th January 1963, in the City of Edinburgh. He spent much of his early working life in sales and marketing, mostly in the travel and automotive industries. It was whilst working on an American Airbase in Germany that he met his partner Joanne, mother of his two boys, Daniel and Christopher. They spent almost seven years together before Joanne contracted cancer and died in November 2003. It was then, that he began his quest, in looking for more meaning to life and his spiritual adventure began.

Begin your happier, healthier life by incorporating these five Reiki-based techniques.
How to be in the now
Set an alarm on your watch or phone every hour for eight hours. Pause for three minutes and notice things around you. Notice colors, temperature, people and silence. Pay attention to anything in your environment. If you find it hard to be aware of the things around, you start simple. Wash your dishes instead of plopping them in the dishwasher. Notice the water temperature, the bubbles and the scent of the soap. This exercise helps you be aware of your surroundings and ultimately you become aware of yourself in your surroundings.
Simplify meditation
You don’t have to wear a robe, go to a mountain or sit in pretzel position to meditate. Meditation means to concentrate your undivided attention to a single thing. The point of meditation is to quiet your mind. Scientific research shows that meditation helps to decrease the fight/flight response causing a decrease in heart rate and blood pressure, which is heart healthy! To practice meditation, find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed — even a bathroom stall can work and take a few minutes to take eight deep breaths and focus on something you can see such as a doorknob or tree.
We all know how it feels to rob ourselves of joy all because our mind has "run away" with ideas. Often these pictures and stories are not only untrue, but also powerful! Let's decide to do this different. Let's change the wave pattern in the mind to a beneficial one and keep our joy...what have we got to lose?

Since the rise of the Internet, cyberbullying has become rampant in many online circles. Two things make it easy for bullies to harass others online: Anonymity and distance. It is not just a "kids problem" anymore...many adults are victims of cyberbullying, and like kids many adults don't know what to do. Adults tend to think that they should be "old enough" to take care of it, but when bullying turns into constant harassment or threats of physical violence, both age groups need to have the tools to deal with and stop the bullying.

Cliff Stewart knows his stuff. I’ve worked with many of his contemporaries who have studied under such masters as Dan Inosanto, and at the same time Cliff was there. The martial arts world can be a jealous place, with more than its share of prima donnas. After working in medical publishing at Rockefeller University Press (Journal of Clinical Investigation), she studied for her master’s degree and PhD in infectious disease epidemiology (the study of diseases) and immunobiology from Yale University.
After leaving Yale, Nina pursued postdoctoral research in London and Oxford, England. Nina’s research focused on human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and related viruses and their interaction with the immune system. She also pursued meditation and yoga and was learning to “see” in a different way.
In 1999 while living in New Mexico, she started studying Reiki I and II and then studied Reiki III and Masters teacher training in Oregon and NY.
Nina is the author of Reiki for Dummies and Living with Hepatitis C For Dummies.
Currently living on the coast of Maine, USA, Nina uses Reiki as a tool to connect to the greater energy that connects us all.

In this show we will be discussing the many ways reiki can help in your day to day life.
People use Reiki to relax and strengthen their wellbeing; reduce pain, anxiety, and fatigue; help manage symptoms; reduce side effects of medications; and support recovery after injuries or surgery.
Reiki is a good integrative therapy to try because people generally start feeling better very quickly with Reiki. As anxiety and pain lessen, and people feel hopeful about regaining their health, they feel more able to incorporate other needed health interventions or make needed lifestyle changes. Reiki therapy often clears the mind, enabling patients to better evaluate the sometimes conflicting medical information being offered by various specialists, so they can make important treatment decisions with greater confidence. In this way, Reiki can help people become more actively involved in their own health.
Reiki can be received from someone else (either a friend, healthcare provider, or Reiki professional), or it can be learned by all who want to practice Reiki on themselves.

We've heard of martial arts schools or other service relate businesses with questionable business practices such as aggressive upselling, high fees, not cancelling automatic billing, etc. But what about scams directed AT the school owners themselves? Many small schools and even larger studios have received suspicious inquiries about classes, some actually losing some money to the scammers. Many of these are "chargeback scams", where the studio gives out refunds or doles out cash from a supposed prepayment, only to realize the credit card or check transaction bounces, and the studio is out a sum of dollar. Dont let this happen to you.
Join me this Thursday, August 28, 2014 to discuss Reiki and Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) may develop after a person is exposed to one or more traumatic events, such as sexual assault, warfare, serious injury, or threats of imminent death. The diagnosis may be given when a group of symptoms, such as disturbing recurring flashbacks, avoidance or numbing of memories of the event, and hyperarousal, continue for more than a month after the occurrence of a traumatic event.
Most people having experienced a traumatizing event will not develop PTSD. Women are more likely to experience higher impact events, and are also more likely to develop PTSD than men.[3] Children are less likely to experience PTSD after trauma than adults, especially if they are under ten years of age. War veterans are commonly at risk for PTSD.
Today's topic brings attention to the healing power of resilience in the practice. Because life will throw us challenges and difficulty, practicing adaptive strategies promotes life-long learning and promotes a happier life.

Jyogan Hakata-Kohler who is a Reiki Shihan that was trained by Hyakuten Inamoto Sensei while he was living in Kyoto, Japan (from 2007 to 2010).
If you know Jyogan you already know that he is also a Buddhist Lay Teacher who converted to Buddhism in 2006. He received the name Jyogan which means Pure Vow. This vow refers to the vow the Buddha took to help all become enlightened and this serves as his inspiration and motivation.
What you may not know about Jyogan is that he worked for nearly a decade as a Producer for Nippon Television's "Zoom In!! Asa! Live from New York". A national morning news program in Japan similar to the Today Show here in the US. He produced thousands of segments that were broadcast nationally in Japan. The Executive Producer of "Zoom In!! Asa! Live from New York" (Tak Inagaki) is helping out with this project as an Adviser and Consultant. Jyogan's husband Kenta, who is Japanese in descent, is also helping to coordinate this project.
Jyogan helped to open and is the Manager of Namaste Bookshop, Namaste Gift Shop, and Namaste Healing Center (www.NamasteBookshop.com) in New York City. It is there that he teaches Inamoto Sensei's Komyo Reiki Kai. He recently hosted Inamoto Sensei at Namaste Healing Center where Sensei held his full 3-hour Reiki share in the style that he does in Japan.
