We step into the heart of the biblical story - a story of exile and return, sin and forgiveness, the way out, the way through, and the way in. Today, we'll see how the forgiveness of sins is not merely a transaction but a liberation - a homecoming and the way out of exile that changes our present reality.

Religion, even Christianity, can easily become about the right rituals, the proper practices, and the clean appearances. But Jesus confronts us with a far deeper question: What is being produced by your life? What fruit are you bearing?
The mystery at the center of Christian faith is not a formula, a doctrine, or even a moral code. It is a person-a crucified person. The cross is not only the place where God revealed Himself most fully. It is also the shape He invites our lives to take.
The cross reconciles us upward unto God (our Being) and calls us outward unto others (our Doing) ...through Godly perspective, empowerment and empathy. "So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."-2 Corinthians 5:16-21 NIV
Jesus then said, "I am the resurrection and the life! Everyone who has faith in me will live, even if they die. And everyone who lives because of confidence in me will never really die. Do you believe this?" - Jesus (John 11:25, 26)
The Parable of the Prodigal Son is Jesus' profound story of a wayward son who squanders his inheritance but returns to find unexpected grace. Through the father's lavish welcome, Jesus reveals God's radical forgiveness and the shocking invitation for both the lost and the self-righteous to join the redemption feast.
God is love, all other characteristics of God flow from the infinite spring of love that is God's very nature. 1 John 4:7-21
When you really think about it, the "Church" is amazing. It's made up of a group of people that would never had gathered together if it weren't for the grace of God. In Ephesians 2, we see how Jesus has torn down the walls that divide us by going to the cross, taking the penalty for our sins, and destroying the hostility that divides humanity, thus making peace. Through Jesus, we are given an invitation to experience true "shalom" with God and others.
Jesus and His Spirit led messianic mission ushers in the fulfillment of Jubilee and God's favor where restoration, liberation and mercy triumph over retribution.
This is the Story of God revealing his name and his character to Moses and how we are invited into a personal relationship with a personal God who has a name... Yahweh.

"John’s account of the crucifixion reads like a birth story. Jesus has his clothes removed (19:23) and asks for pain relief. Surrounded by women, he exclaims, “Woman, here is your son” and “Here is your mother” (vv. 26–27), at which point his mother takes the young man he addressed home. After Jesus’ triumphant cry of “It is finished,” blood and water come gushing from his side (vv. 30, 34), a detail only John records. (Along with Luke, he also records the scars and marks that remain on Jesus’ body even after the Resurrection.) John persists with the theme in his letters, repeatedly describing salvation as being “born of God” and famously insisting on the witness of Spirit, water, and blood (1 John 5:1–8)."
Where are you feeling weak, vulnerable and unlikely today? Could this be the very space where "God wants to meet and transform you? God's method of divine revelation, from the beginning, seems to most often come from unlikely people in unlikely places. The outsider, marginalized, foreigner, second born, poor, oppressed and broken are the ones highlighted in the biblical narrative to be primary agents of God's plan on earth.
When God first called Abraham to start a nation, He was always going to bless, protect, and provide for them as there King in heaven. Soon, his people wanted and earthly king like the other nations so God granted them Saul, then David, and Israel had their earthy kings though not perfect. Isaiah promises (Isaiah 9:6-7) His people that once again the King of heaven will be born on Christmas morning to lead them and all the nations with justice and righteousness. Jesus is our wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father, and Prince of peace ruling all those who make Him their king.
The unique revelation of Jesus is both radically inclusive, and radically unique. Jesus expands the visible boundaries of God's grace, and brings us to see our heavenly father as Abba.
By God's Grace and direction, Carlos Montoya began his ministry in 1998 by penetrating, befriending, and meeting the needs of the drug gang members. He would then invite them to his church and present the message of Jesus Christ to them. Slowly, the men saw the need to change their lifestyle and a desire to be free from their addiction (drugs or alcohol). This need grew into the Rehab Ranch in the year 2000. From there, other aspects of the La Roca Ministries grew: the Orphanage, Men's Shelter, and the Dump Ministry. Today, La Roca has over eight ministry areas, all growing from within and meeting the needs of the local people of Tijuana and San Diego.
God's heart is deeply invested in caring for the poor. As followers of Jesus, we embody this priority by standing with those in need and building a new kind of family together.
When Jesus said there is more joy in giving than receiving, he turned our vision of living the good life on its head. The paradox of generosity is that money and happiness are related, but not the way we typically think. Not surprisingly, it seems that history has proven Jesus to be absolutely right!
To be a follower of Jesus Christ means that we are also "sent" out declaring the good news. Luke 10 gives us a comprehensive look at how we fit into God's mission. We see that the very nature of God is on mission and we are invited to join Him.
We are called to be salt, light and instruments of peace but "Being Missional" is not what we do... it's who we are in Christ!
What does contentment look like when everything falls apart? What is the promise of God regarding our circumstances? What is the secret of contentment that Paul had to learn?

Life can be overwhelming and wreaking all kinds of havoc in a variety of ways. It's helpful to expect these challenges as part of life on earth and learn ways to cope with them through prayer. In Philippians 4:4-7, we see how prayer brings the relief we need along with protection for our hearts and minds. Through prayer, God grants us His peace when we take our focus off our circumstances and on His grand plan that transcends our understanding.
As followers of Jesus and citizens of a nation-state, we're often living a dual allegiance to the kingdom of God and to the United States. But the values of the kingdom of God as were embodied in Jesus (last will be first and first will be last, love & pray for your enemy, money is the root of all evil, etc.) often come in sharp contrast to the values of the United States. There is no doubt we have a responsibility to both, BUT the question has to be, "which has our PRIMARY allegiance and what does that look like?"
Branches Sunday Morning Message: Shaped By The Gospel | Philippians 3:1-11If anyone could brag about their own righteous living, the Apostle Paul certainty could. Yet, after his life was impacted by the gospel, he counted his sterling record as "rubbish" compared to knowing Jesus and His righteousness. This passage in Philippians 3 points us to consider our personal life story and ambitions in light of the grace of God. Our hearts are shaped by The Gospel when we allow our sufferings to introduce us to the power of the resurrection.
True Relational Community draws us into deeper, committed relationships in which we take genuine interest in the welfare of others and strive towards unity and the full expression of the body of Christ.
God is out source of light and love! We are called to abide in Him so that we can shine His light and love on those living in darkness.
The Christ Hymn in Philippians 2 gives us a unique picture of the nature and character of God displayed through Jesus. What is God Like? He is like Jesus. What is Jesus like? For this we explore Philippians 2 and the cross to guide us.

It's amazing the level of joy the Apostle Paul display's considering he was writing this letter from prison. He saw his chains not as a nuisance, rather an opportunity to serve others with the good news. He knew who he was and where was ultimately going. This identify in Christ serves as a path for us as we face difficult challenges in our life.

John 15:5“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing."
Words Can Build Or Tear Down. There is a reason we have a library of words that either built us up or tore us down. Our words have the superpower of either bringing life or death.
Works are not something added as extra to faith - they go together. The real contrast is not faith vs. works. One cannot exist without the other. Faith without action is a faith that hasn’t yet been activated.
James 1:9-10 NLT “ Believers who are poor have something to boast about, for God has honored them. And those who are rich should boast that God has humbled them.”
The brother of James had words for the suffering of the early church. It doesn't take the pain away, but these words are a gift to us today.
As followers of Jesus we realize we are not righteous people called to correct the unrighteous. We are people who know His love for Us and are compelled to invite others to this freedom. Make sure you stay in you lane.
The Bible is a library and not a book. For that reason, we can allow the Word to more easily transform us when we have understanding and a plan on how to approach it.
Jesus gives many descriptions of what it looks like to be 'successful.' Spoiler Alert: It probably isn't what you think it is.
The truth is that Jesus left. But, He promised He wouldn't leave us alone like orphans. Let's look at what that means.
Does this mean I have to go on more service or mission trips? No. This discipline is a lifestyle of seeing a need and filling a need.
You can submit from a place of weakness. That’s giving up. You submit like Jesus, from a place of strength. We choose to treat others as more valuable than ourselves. Phil 2:3-8
Confession is a spiritual discipline that has gone off the rails over the years. Why should we do it and what does it look like?
We take on what we focus our mind upon. But, how can we study Bible if I'm not an academic or scholar?
If your direct tv service stops working in your home and you know you paid the bill, you don’t assume the waves from the company aren’t surrounding your dish. Something is wrong on our end. It’s not that God is not whispering, it’s that we’re not listening.

We are terrified of being alone with God without distractions. We also don’t know what to do. Let’s answer those 2 questions by looking at Jesus and people that have gone before us.

The Gospel Message of Jesus’ resurrection is usually reserved to talk about only on Easter. But, moving forward, we see that it was the foundation of the early church’s message and faith.
There is one term, one overpowering element that is used to describe being in Heaven - Love. It is so overwhelming that scripture and other witnesses lead with that when describing being in the presence of God. God is love.
For those who have been in Heaven or the presence of our God, the question they always get is, “Now that you’ve seen God, been to Heaven - how are you living your life differently.” Let’s answer that question.
Will my dog be in heaven? Will I not know my spouse or children? What will we look like? Let’s listen in to God’s Word so the picture becomes clearer.
Can we know what Heaven is like? Does it really matter? Let’s take a quick dive on what God says Heaven is like in Revelation and in Hebrews. It is so freeing and exciting to see how much our God loves us by what He has created!
We talk more about Hell then Heaven. Why? There is so much more detail and description concerning Heaven and we ignore it. We look away? But, Jesus thought Heaven was important enough too.
This Sunday morning, we sit down with the worship team to learn about worship and its meaning.
Maybe God is more complicated than we think. By looking at these two habits, characteristics that define Jesus we see that we need to stay in a state of curiosity and wonder on the complexity and beauty of God. Maybe we don’t know as much as we think we know.
He is always speaking. He has, He is, and He will. The difficulty is that we have tendency to turn away from His Word. We don’t stay planted like a tree at a stream of water. Let’s look closer at hearing from God for the purpose of obeying. The result is that we will bear much fruit!
We are always in a hurry. We attribute it to scheduling too much, not often enough, or saying 'yes' when we should be saying 'no' to a request. But, when we look at the unhurried life of Jesus we see that it is something much simpler that will bring about the unhurried life.
There are 10 occasions where Jesus was in synagogue in the New Testament. Most of us have no idea what ‘synagogue’ was like and how significant it was to the people of Israel. But, there is a reason Jesus (and Paul) chose the synagogue for much of getting the Message out via the spoken word. But, there is so much more to this habit than ‘hearing a good sermon.’
We all have a list in our heads, like Santa, of who is bad and who is good. Yet, maybe our confidence in that should be questioned looking at Jesus' choices.
It's difficult if not impossible to keep a habit if you don't feel confident that you know how to do that habit. Let's make it clearer on "how" to pray.
It's the time of year when most people consider making changes to their life. A diet is popular change. But, when you get older you realize a diet is more than just mood, it's the lifestyle of what you watch, consume, follow, relationships, hobbies, routines, etc. To help guide us, let's look at Jesus' #1 habit that we could adopt.
Special people and powerful moments should not be forgotten. That’s why we have birthdays, anniversaries and Holy Days. The Holy Days of Christmas is meant for us to remember the faithfulness of God. To not remember creates an environment for doubt to grow.
Christmas is branded with the idea of Joy. Then, why do so few people experience joy at this time? Let's look together to unlock the joy that is promised to all of us.
Is it possible for us to return to the hope, peace, joy, and love this season was born from? What does that look like?
I can’t really get through to what God has for me if I’m stuck in a loop of what I think He wants from me. My only hope to navigate is this crazy unexplainable faith. Sometimes it’s hard work and in my opinion, it can’t be done alone.
Scripture Verse: 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 ...”My grace is all you need, for my power is greatest when you are weak.” I am most happy, then, to be proud of my weaknesses, in order to feel the protection of Christ’s power over me. I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and difficulties for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
To Witness is simply to tell true stories. It’s been God’s pattern from the beginning. We are part of a Legacy of storytelling that originates from love and finds it’s purpose in love.
In this short message we look at the Biblical example of what it is to witness and what it looks like for us today to 'bear witness.'
Following Jesus is more caught than taught. When you start a job, what they tell you doesn’t teach you how to do the job as much as what those at work do. Jesus makes it clear he is not calling people to join the club but to follow Him.
When it comes to sharing our faith, most people think it is awkward. We feel we have to talk about things we don’t understand to people we don’t know. That is awkward. Don’t do it. As we look at the way Jesus shared the Truth and the way those who trusted Him shared about Him we see a pattern that is natural for us. We only have to remember two words. We invite you to listen in to John 1:35-42 to discover these two words.
What if the character of Christ was reducible to two elements? What if we, in sharing our faith, require just two ingredients? In fact there are 2 qualities that are necessary in being the sincere, transparent witnesses of Jesus.
When the topic of sharing our faith is brought up, more than 90% of people who have a faith in Jesus are struck with fear or guilt. Something so beautiful as sharing a life changing understanding of Jesus an His love should not be so awkward and uncomfortable. Therefore, we must be wrong in our understanding of what is expected of us and what it can look like to be a part of Changed Lives.
There is a lie. “Since I'm following Jesus why am I not getting any better with my issues? I must be doing something wrong." You are not doing something wrong. Come listen in.
Who is Good and Who is Bad? Fortunately for us, we don’t have to be in the business of deciding that. We are not experts and we shouldn’t really want that job. We leave that to The Expert. Our call, our job, our lane is Love Anyway. In Luke 10 we see and “expert” approach Jesus to test Him on who is worthy of us loving. How do we determine the neighbor who is Good or Bad so we can discern who to love. Jesus, however, turns the question and asks instead, “Are you a neighbor?”
Jesus chose disciples that He knew would not get along. We are expected to learn how to be with and work with difficult people - because we are also difficult people.
We continue in our series "Love God. Love People." We need to be forewarned that when we love like Jesus, we will be persecuted like He was. But, we are also set free from the burden to fail as 'experts' in what is right and wrong.
"What do we do to prepare for those who will join us during the re-plant? You shall love. We will be looking at this closely over the next few weeks so that it will stick in our hearts, and minds, and efforts."
When we look at John 3:16, it's so familiar that it has lost its wonder. To know the love God has for you, His reckless love, must be caught not taught.
Jesus said to his 12 while He was in great distress, "“Sit here while I go over there and pray.” He didn't just say it once but twice. If even Jesus needed others in the family of faith, how much more us? In this message, Pastor Boog teaches on the truth that when we belong to God we belong to each other and what that can look like in the real world.
5/23 Michael Bischof, the Pastor to Pastors, challenges us to think about the 'loads' Jesus warned about us putting on other people that they are not able to bear. "They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them." (Matthew 23:1-4.) We are equipped to lighten people's loads by giving grace, love, kindness, etc.
With some of his last words, while on the cross, Jesus chooses to address the role of motherhood. Motherhood is sacred. There is a need for the gift of motherhood to be used and for all of us to realize our need for mother figures in our lives.
This is a message for the members of Branches as we move into a new season of exciting and scary change. We turn back to the words of Jesus, "I am the Vine, You are the Branches" to guide us.
What would God command us to do? Have you had the realization of being in God's presence and then having your unholiness come to the surface. Peter did. What does Jesus command him to do?
In a court of law, the jury is never there when the crime was committed. Yet, they are charged with handing down a verdict based on the evidence they are provided. In the same way, we must make a verdict, based on the preponderance of evidence on whether Jesus truly defeated death and resurrected himself. Pastor Boog looks at a couple pieces of evidence to consider.
The passage from Phil 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ Jesus who gives me strength" is misinterpreted and twisted too often to emphasize "I can." We have an invitation to live from Him. So, why do we settle for what we can make happen on our own?
What is the one thing separating you from being content, satisfied, in your life? How would you fill in the blank, "I will be content when _________?" Is contentment attainable? In the letter to the Philippians Paul says he has learned it. Let's look at the secret.
We can have new life because He gave up His. For those that were unable to join us this week, here is our celebration of what God has done for us through Jesus. The light has come into the world and given us the power to become children of God. -Boog Rose
