Jeffrey Round is best known as the Lambda Award-winning author of two mystery series--the gritty Dan Sharp books and the comic Bradford Fairfax series. He is also an award-winning filmmaker, television producer and songwriter. His first novel, "A Cage of Bones", was topping bestseller lists around the world. Both "A Cage of Bones" and "The P-Town Murders," first in the Bradford Fairfax series were listed on AfterElton's Top 100 Greatest Gay Books in 2008. Jeffrey's "Endgame" was called a "brilliant recreation" of Agatha Christie's best-selling mystery "And Then There Were None", giving the original what one critic called a "punk-rock reboot." It became a best-selling e-book in the US in 2016.

The Tanzania Tree and Water Project
https://www.timothyjaysmith.com/tz-trees-projectRaised crisscrossing America pulling a small green trailer behind the family car, Timothy Jay Smith developed a ceaseless wanderlust that has taken him around the world many times. En route, he’s found the characters that people his work. Polish cops and Greek fishermen, mercenaries and arms dealers, child prostitutes and wannabe terrorists, Indian Chiefs and Indian tailors: he hung with them all in an unparalleled international career that saw him smuggle banned plays from behind the Iron Curtain, maneuver through Occupied Territories, represent the U.S. at the highest levels of foreign governments, and stowaway aboard a ‘devil’s barge’ for a three-day crossing from Cape Verde that landed him in an African jail.

Awards Timothy has received include the Gold Medal in the 2017 Faulkner-Wisdom Competition for the Novel, and his screenplay adaptation of it was named Best Indie Script by WriteMovies. Another novel, The Fourth Courier, set in Poland, published in 2019 by Arcade Publishing, was a finalist for Best Gay Mystery in the 2020 Lambda Literary Awards. Previously, he won the Paris Prize for Fiction (now the Paris Literary Prize) for his novel, A Vision of Angels. He is the founder of the Smith Prize for Political Theater.

In 1999, with three degrees from the University of Saskatchewan and following a successful career as a CPA, Bidulka dove headfirst into his lifelong dream of being a fulltime writer.

Bidulka’s books have been nominated for Lambda Literary Awards, Crime Writers of Canada Awards of Excellence, Saskatchewan Book Awards, and a ReLit award. Flight of Aquavit was awarded the Lambda Literary Award for Best Men’s Mystery, making Bidulka the first Canadian to win in that category.

Anthony has dedicated his career to writing traditional genre novels in an untraditional way, developing a body of work that often features his Saskatchewan roots and underrepresented, diverse main characters. He tells serious stories in accessible, entertaining, often humorous ways. Anthony has sat on the boards of local, national, and international organizations. He is currently chairman of the University of Saskatchewan Alumni Achievement Awards committee. He has also received the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Nation Builders Award and, along with his husband Herb, named Citizen of the Year for their home city of Saskatoon (the first same sex couple to be recognized). For his promotion of Saskatchewan through his books, co-founding Camp fYrefly Saskatchewan (a leadership retreat for gender and sexually diverse and allied youth), and volunteer and philanthropic efforts in the community, Anthony was recently honoured by the selection of a two-part park in Saskatoon to be named Bidulka Park and Bidulka Park North.

Anthony and his husband live on an acreage near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. When he isn’t writing or busy volunteering on boards, Bidulka loves to travel the world, collect art, walk his dogs, obsess over decorating Christmas trees (it’s a thing) and throw a good party.

Bud Gundy is Lambda Literary Award finalist and an Executive Producer and on-air host at KQED, the PBS and NPR affiliate for Northern California. In 2003, he received an Emmy Award for producing the documentary Lonely Island: Hidden Alcatraz. He won his second Emmy Award in 2016 for directing the KQED News special, State of Surveillance. He's been nominated for two other works.

He began his television career in 1983 as the Program Director at the Nationality Broadcasting Network in Lakewood, Ohio, a job which has given him a lifetime of funny stories to share. Following that, he worked as a Desk Assistant, Associate Producer and Producer for the various newscasts at WKYC, the NBC affiliate in Cleveland, Ohio. The stories from Channel 3 aren't as funny, but perhaps more illuminating. After stints as a business reporter and a marketing executive in Northern California, he joined San Francisco's KQED in 1994, and loves the environment and dedication to the audience at PBS and NPR. You can see and hear him on-the-air, asking for support during those annoying pledge drives.

He settled into an academic career where he set out to make the world a somewhat better place for people living on the margins: the homeless, people struggling with drug addiction, people living with HIV. After a dozen years, though, and a career careening toward middle management, he’d had enough and quit to search for a new path.

He was passionate about travel and the Mississippi River, so he combined those interests by writing about travel in the heart of the US. A few years later, he stretched his skills by writing his first novel, a mystery featuring openly gay travel writer named Frank Dodge. The series has grown to four books, and Klinkenberg looks forward to finding new ways to put Dodge in awkward and difficult positions to see how he finds a way out. Dodge, after all, confronts many of the same challenges we all face: figuring out who we are and what we want, feuding with people who don’t share our view of the world, and trying to hold on to those nuggets of happiness as long as we can.

Ep:082 Some people buy a fancy sports car or fly to faraway lands when they hit middle age. Tammy Bird started writing fiction with strong female protagonists. A literature professor by trade, she deemed it fitting to write about the kaleidoscopic prisms of human nature in her thriller/suspense stories and novels. Be warned, her work is psychologically hard and gritty and real. It may not be palatable to everyone, but it is all that flows from pen to paper (even when she tries to write something softer with a guaranteed HEA).

Ep:067 Raised crisscrossing America pulling a small green trailer behind the family car, Timothy Jay Smith developed a ceaseless wanderlust that has taken him around the world many times.

Tim brings the same energy to his writing that he brought to a distinguished career, and as a result, he has won top honors for his novels, screenplays and stage plays in numerous prestigious competitions.

Ep:064 J.S. Strange is an author from Wales, United Kingdom. He writes crime, mystery and horror. His first novels, published in 2016 and 2017, were set in an apocalyptic London. His up-coming novel, titled Murder on the Rocks, is the first in a cozy crime mystery series, featuring a leading gay male detective.

Murder on the Rocks was written by Strange for many reasons. One of those reasons was a lack of representation within the crime genre, particularly with detectives and sleuths. Strange created Jordan Jenner, a private investigator, who lives and works in Cardiff. Murder on the Rocks was written with the intention of shining light on Cardiff, and bringing Cardiff, and furthermore, Wales, into the crime genre.

Strange's previous works, such as 'Winter Smith: London Burning', also explored LGBT themes, and featured socialite Winter Smith escaping a zombie apocalypse. 'London's Burning' became an Amazon best-seller in LGBT fiction.

When Strange doesn't write, he works in television. He also presents a radio show all about the paranormal. He has an enthusiasm for Britney Spears and cats.

Ep:062 Books & reading have been Graeme's life, working in libraries for over 50 years, and sometime as a bookseller. Having had to take medical retirement earlier than expected he now has the luxury of reading when he can, daily cover posts to organise himself, and maintaining an online catalogue, to help him concentrate on the familiar. And of course always trolling sites for new releases, the next big read, the next new read and those fave. authors & series.

2020 has been an amazing year for him. Writing a foreward for publication, beta reading Aussie content for US based author, acknowledgement in a published bibliography, and now a guest on this podcast.

Some days are tougher than others, but he is connected with author friends and fellow bibliophiles, which all helps, and always hope what he does might help others.

The basis of his collection is 1700+ print titles of gay fiction, with an emphasis on gay mystery series. He is in the process of finding new homes for the bulk of this collection. Adding 9000+ e-stories since 2009. Thank goodness for ereaders with larger reading fonts and text-to-speech options.

If he has any pet-hate, it is the tendency to glamourise the newly published and he enjoys bringing to the fore covers/titles which have history.

His interests are widely varied and often in conflict with one another, but chances are he’s reading a book at the moment or if the weather's good, working on his "fun" car, a 1976 Jaguar XJC, or if the weather's great, out on Lake Erie on the husband's sailboat.

Burton currently lives in a historic Georgian Revival house built in 1897 in Toledo, Ohio’s Old West End with his husband and 2 spoiled Basset Hounds. Sadly, the house is not haunted as promised.

Ep:056 Grant Atherton lives in a small sleepy town on the east coast of England after moving down from London ten years ago. The fictional town of Elders Edge in his books is based very much on his home town with a few minor changes to suit the plots.

He’s been a writer for most of his life, starting at the age of five when his primary school teacher would pay him with a pack of jelly beans for each of his stories about talking animals. Ep:054 Frank W. Butterfield is the Amazon best-selling author of 67 (and counting) self-published novels, novellas, and short stories. Born in Lubbock, Texas, Frank grew up there, in the Dallas area, and under the pine and cypress surrounding Caddo Lake.

A Westerner, he graduated from Lubbock High School in 1984. He was fortunate to be an exchange student in La Serena, Chile, in the second half of 1982. He attended the University of Texas in Austin and, after three semesters, realized he was wasting his time and his parents'
money and dropped out.

Moving to New York City in 1987, Frank worked in the hospitality industry for several years while also moving from there to San Francisco and to Provincetown before returning to Texas in 1992. Making Austin his home a second time, he finally settled into a corporate job and taught himself to write code and manage projects in Austin and Washington, D.C. After ten years of being what he likes to call "a normal person" he left the security of making a living in a "real job" and decided to strike out on his own.

Spending several years traveling around the U.S. and Canada, he found himself drawn to Daytona Beach, Florida, where he now resides. His initial novel, The Unexpected Heiress, was self-published on June 1, 2016. 67 titles later, the stories keep coming, right out of thin air!

Ep:049 By the age of 30, Christopher Rice had published four New York Times bestselling thrillers, received a Lambda Literary Award and been declared one of People Magazine’s Sexiest Men Alive. His two novels of dark supernatural suspense, THE HEAVENS RISE and THE VINES, were both finalists for the Bram Stoker Award. He recently entered the erotic romance genre with three works in all new series called The Desire Exchange. They include THE FLAME, THE SURRENDER GATE and KISS THE FLAME. His debut novel, A DENSITY OF SOULS, was published when the author was just 22 years old. A controversial and overnight bestseller, it was greeted with a landslide of media attention, much of it devoted to the fact that Christopher is the son of famed vampire chronicler, Anne Rice. Together with his best friend, New York Times bestselling novelist Eric Shaw Quinn, Christopher launched his own Internet radio show. THE DINNER PARTY SHOW WITH CHRISTOPHER RICE & ERIC SHAW QUINN.

He’s spent the last few years living and working in The Netherlands, Czech Republic, Sudan and Bulgaria, and has every confidence he will now finally be able to settle down among the olive groves of Andalucia.

He’s an avid reader and film fan (in fact, his study is overflowing with his various dvd collections!)

Olivier did an MA in creative writing for film and television at the University of Sheffield. After a failed attempt at making a career as a screenwriter, he turned to the theater and wrote and produced a play called ´Death Takes a Lover´ (which has since been turned into the first D.S.Billings Victorian Mystery). The play was performed on the London Fringe to great critical acclaim.

He currently lives in Spain where he makes ends meet by teaching English.

Her short stories have appeared in two editions of the crime anthology Fedora, Switchblade Magazine’s Stiletto Heeled issue, and will be featured in the Mickey Finn crime anthology, releasing in the Fall of 2020 from Down & Out Books. She is one of only six authors invited by Down & Out Books to provide a novella for the second season their crime series, Guns & Tacos, releasing in October, with another short story accepted to appear in The Black Cat Mystery Magazine. Her flash fiction, A Night In Town, appeared in the online zine Punk Soul Poet, and another flash fiction is featured in the Goldie winning anthology Our Happy Hours: LGBT Voices from the Gay Bars, released in 2017. Her next Cantor Gold book, Murder And Gold, will be released in Spring/Summer 2021 from Bywater Books.

Ann’s knowledge of crime, criminals, and criminal investigation results from her work as a report writer for a private investigations firm in San Rafael, California. Her work at the firm introduced her to the motives, methods, and milieus of the perpetrators of crime as well as the motives and methods of crime’s opposite numbers, law enforcement and the courts. This experience brings an authenticity to her stories and her characters.

In addition to her literary work, Ann had a long career as a curator and exhibition designer for galleries and museums across the country. She now writes full time.

In 2003, he received an Emmy Award for producing the documentary Lonely Island: Hidden Alcatraz. He won his second Emmy Award in 2016 for directing the KQED News special, State of Surveillance.
