Although we are 51% of the population, it is as we still have to fight for equality even in 2024 and my question is why?
I ask that question even more as a black woman. Equality for all really would make the country a better place. That is my goal for sure. I am a black woman.
Black Women always do the work, but sometimes we need rest and we need to be given fair opportunities like any other business owners. So banks and VC funds DO better!!!
I was thinking about this other day and wondered if there were really any free thinking people. Heck, am even a free thinker. In this world, we have some many images and an overflow of information that it makes me wondering. How can one free their mind?
This year there was no resolutions stated. I just decided to be the best person I could be an live life to the fullest. I hope you do too.
My take on loans for family. Much different that one would think. The goal of the borrower might be something to benefit you both.
In the the wake of the death of the controversial YouTuber Kevin Samuels, there is a huge debate on honesty when sharing ideals about dating. Some people are celebrating his death while others think he was great. I did listen to a few of Samuels videos and found them a little anti-women, but was not happy to hear of his death. I will leave with this though, does being honest give someone the right to be cruel. I mean, life is hard enough without the cruelty. So honesty is cool, but kindness when being honest is better.
Life and relationships are so interesting. As we get older being true to one's self is sooooo important. Things you may have wanted to when you were younger may not be the same things you want when you're old and what I have learned is the power to have the wisdom and discernment to recognize this.
It's 2022. We made it through 2020 and 2021 with the unexpected pandemic. I am thankful to have my family, friends and myself managed to stay happy, sane and healthy during this time. Although, the pandemic is still happening, I feel inspired and believe that things will change.
Trump, Covid-19, the insurrection, the GOP and just plain hot mess drama. What is going on with the USA. It has always been racists, but looks like things may be trying to creep back to the 50s and 60s. Not on my watch it won't. Freedom and Justice rule!!
I am definitely someone who is conscious of time. Especially as I get older I realize that so important not to waste time. We know because in March 2020, the world basically shut down do to Covid-19. So many people died. and with that I have learned to do all I can not to waste it.
As a Black Woman in the US, I realize that I am a Superwoman whether I want to be or not. It may not always be fun, but it makes me stronger and able to deal with anything I face.
Being young is amazing. As a kid we dream that anything is possible. There is nothing we think we can't do. Somehow however, this changes as we get older. The dreams we thought would be possible little by little turn into what we see as impossible. The truth is that nothing is impossible and even more true is that no one is ever to old to dream or achieve a goal. So just dream and follow your heart.
Sometimes it's hard to believe when it feels like evil people seem to prevail no matter what. That's when I go back into my memory and remember growing up on a farm. This helps me because I remember when something is planted, it grows. This is good for good things, but it is also a law for bad. So I have to think again, maybe evil people don't always get by. Maybe it is just that their reaping season is not here yet. With that said, I will just keep the faith to know that we all have to answer for our actions at some point and there is no escaping this law.
Mental health is a major issue in life and there are more people lately who have come to discuss it more. Whether they talk about their own issues with depression or perhaps that of a friend or family, talking about mental health is no longer taboo. This is a good thing because so many people who have needed help in this area are now more open and accepting.
2020 was a rough year and 2021 is start off yo be crazier with Trump losing the election. He is so crazy that his speech has incited his followers to seem to declare war on the US. I pray that with the new administration things will be better. No more Trump and no more War on the US.
Games sometime can be fun and sometimes not, however it's never fun when someone plays games in order to hurt you. Foolish Games are just hurtful and is something you should watch out for.
2020 has been a touch year for many. Over 250,000 people have unexpectedly died because of coronavirus. It has not been easy to change my life, but I have to say I am thankful to have gotten sick at all. I have truly been blessed.
November 3, 2020 for Americans has been big for everyone so I am listening to the song Election Day by the band Arcadia.
This election the stakes are high and it is like good against evil.
Time alone can be amazing. It does not seem we are are always told this truth, but it really can be great. I mean, when else can someone have the opportunity to reflect on important decisions in their lives.
Contrary to popular belief quality time alone helps many make better choices in their lives as they get to know themselves.
Loaning money is a tricky thing. It is no problem when someone says they may not be able to give it back, but it can be a problem when there is a promise and that promise is met.
So, I have learned maybe it is better not to say anything or to stay off social media all together. Sometimes it is better to not speak at all.
I happened to see a funny post on LinkedIn, where a user said he was tired of celebrating the "40 under 40" and he wanted to see stories on people getting after 60 getting a Ph D or becoming a lawyer.
He's right because what I have found that happens a lot lately. After turning 50 I even notice it more and it seems that people under 40 expect you to be "in the coffin." It's crazy and I just had to discuss it.
So a friend of mine just revealed to me that she no longer talks to her family. I was taken aback and wondered bow could this even happen. I thought, however is that, but as time has gone on I kinda see what she means. Sometimes even when you love someone, you may need to let them go.
It is August 2020 and it's less that 3 months before the Presidential election and to me it has become a big carnival. While I appreciate social media and the internet, it has given voice to some of the biggest complainers ever.
I mean everyone has something to say and very few want to do anything an out themselves on the line. It's like we are children at a Carnival. God help us because at times it can be exhausting.
In this unsure time of division and uncertainty, it is always in my downtime that I can find out things I need to know. Whether it is meditation or prayer, knowing what we all need to be calm and secure.
It's summer 2020 and already it has been a year like no other. A pandemic, systematic racism and loss of jobs have been a part of much of this year under the final year of the Trump Administration. I decided to listen to Public Enemy's 1989 hit "Fight The Power!" which to me is an anthem to the revolution and resistance!!
So, it has been announced on the internet, that rapper Kanye West is running for president of the USA. While I appreciate Kanye's talent, but there is no way that I would ever vote for him.
Why you wonder, I just personally need my leaders to have a lot more political experience and be more mature. It is bad enough that we have had to deal with Trump the last 3 years.
Also, since "Jesus Walks" with me, Kanye is out and so is Trump. Never Kanye and No more Trump.
Lately in America after the brutal murder of George Floyd, the US and the world, people have grown tired of the endless senseless systematic racism that has been going on since the inception of this country.
As a result of the recent death of George Floyd, the world has been protesting and FINALLY some things are being done to change things for black people.
Staying positive during tough moments can be hard, but it is very important to try and do so. In life, it is meant for us all to win, be happy and succeed.
That is the way God created us and we really have to simply know it! Win is what we have to do.
Legendary singer Billie Holiday states what Black America has grown tired of. In 21st century we seem to still be bothered and hunted down by racist cops and racist citizens. In her song "Strange Fruit", she states how many black Americans were lynched due to the nonsensical hate of this country. I can only say that were are tired and we will fight back.

In this era of the COVID19 pandemic we think about conspiracies and controversies. Also, recently there was a celebration of the life of favorite artist ever Prince. He was an artist ahead of how time, philanthropic and amazingly talented. His 1981 song "Controversy" is perfect for the time we are in. Political unrest and people that no longer have faith. I pray for them because the one thing I pray I never lose is faith.
During this time of the Corona Virus, most of us are all at home staying safe and quarantine. This is important for us not to get infected. While at home I have been listening to some great 80s music and one that came to mind and I felt as perfect to talk about on my podcast was Home Sweet Home By Motley Crue.
We are living in a time of quarantine with the Corona Virus aka Covid-19. Rumor has the the virus was out since December 2019, yet the White House did not inform us until March 2020. 3 months and many deaths later I am speechless. How could this have happened in the US?
I believe in karma and election day is coming and I expect new leadership.
As a small business owner, sometimes securing money can be a risky thing. This brings to be discuss what I a listening to lately. It is Get Money, but The Notorious BIG, and L'il Kim.
The song was a favorite of mine from the 90s and still rings true today. For any business you do, Get Money!!!
Each day I am thankful for all that my ancestors have endured. I thank them for their strength and appreciate all they fought for in their lives. With this said, my goal is to do I can to succeed and honor them with my life.
In all relationships whether with friends, lovers, coworkers or family, there is sometimes a season for some to end.
And ending a season it is never a bad thing, but it is sometimes good for things to grow.
Saying good bye is always hard so I won't say it. I will just tell you what I am listening to.
When times get stressed, I put on some mellow music so I can just relax and calm my nerves. It really help when your life just seems to be overwhelmed with issues and the regular life troubles.
So I decided to stop being a worrier and came to the conclusion, than things work out much better when we relax and just be still. Lately I have been listening to "Peace Be Still" by Vanessa Bell Armstrong and the words really inspired me to know that it is important to relax and let go because when we do all things we want unfold so much more smoothly.
Learning for truly rest along with having faith has been a tough thing for me to do at times. I mean, we all know it is not good to worry, but when life throws us a curve ball, we have to redirect and rethink of how not to let the circumstances get the best of us. Faith in God and knowing he will always help us is a great practice. Give it a try.
Conversations about money are always interesting. Some people love money, some people are afraid of and some will do anything to get it.
So I decided to listen to songs about money and face how I actually feel about money. To be honest, I used to think I did not deserve it, then I felt like I was evil if I got it.
Now I realize that since I am in charge of my life, I am in charge of money too. Since I am overall a fair person, when I get money it is ALWAYS a good thing for me and for others. Money is a good thing. I know that now and I want A LOT of it to live a great life and help others.
In a country where there have been some great things that happened, the same place also has a history of pain and suffering for many.
The USA was formed from the murder and massacre of Native Americans and the enslavement of Black people and with current President in the White House, I wonder if racism will ever end.
What I am listening to is Black or White by Michael Jackson. The words say "It doesn't matter if you're black or white," but I wonder is that really true?
A colleague recently posted a video on Instagram where Oprah talked about doing a clearing of negative energy and that it is our own responsibility to "clear" negative influences or people out of or life. She is sooooo right and as a result, I am listening to Enjoy The Silence by Depeche Mode because I am enjoying to silence and space for only positive energy.
I cover many cool events, festivals, etc in my career and I have to say I have enjoyed most them. Lately however, I have seen a shift, where there seems to breakdown with press and PR. What happened?
I think with the digital and influx of bloggers shift, there has been something lost. The thing to remember is that we are ultimately on the same side so there has to be a way to work better together.
What I am listening to know is "Lean on Me" by the legendary Bill Withers because in order for Press and PR to succeed, we have to depend on each other and work together for the common good.
I consider myself a small business owner so I guess that means I am a BOSS. In my path I see and honor so many other boss ladies so in honor of them I am listening to the song "Boss Ass Bitch" by the female rap group, Pretty and Taking All Fades. The song is real and feel empowered when I look at it.
To all the cool, intelligent and creative women bosses, I salute you.
Mentorship is important to me, but an incident happened recently that took me aback. I thought I was helping a young lady and she was sooooo shady in her dealings by inviting people to cover events under my name, then not delivering images promised.
Also, she never mentioned my outlet name when that is the way she was approved. Wow, interesting so what I am listening to now is "No More I Love You's" By Annie Lennox.
The song "Move Along" by All American Rejects is what I am listening to this week.
Good things and new opportunities are having so I am extra excited. I am hoping this will inspire others to keep going and do their best no matter what comes their way
Stay positive, be successful and move along in faith.
Sometimes you are just minding your own business and good things happen. After last year being such a tough year, it is so great to see things turn around for the better.
"I'm Getting Ready" by Tasha Cobbs Leonard is the perfect song to inspire me and get me pumped up for what is next. I am so thankful and going to enjoy the ride. Thank you God.
Each day I learn to be thankful and grateful for all of the things going on in my life.
I know that things god wrong at time, but no matter what happens I have the two things that money can't buy. That is great mental health and great physical health.
And for that I am very thankful.
I have been an still am a huge Depeche Mode fan. The album Violator was one of their biggest and it is perfect for what I am currently going through. Just like we perform Spring cleaning, it is sometimes necessary to clean out bad relationships whether with friends, colleagues, coworkers or business associates especially if there is no fair balance for you in being in a relationship with them. One of the lyrics in this song is #The cleanest I've been!" It really is true.
This is really the cleanest I have been.
Each day I listen to the news and I constantly hear excuses people make not to hold the Donald Trump accountable for his actions. Many will say my opinion is made because I don't like him. No, I actually don't know him, but I know this. Wrong is wrong and because Congress seems to be afraid, we just have this huge Ball of Confusion going on.
So, what I am listening to is the Temptations hit "Ball of Confusion" which explains the state of politics oh so well. It is such ashamed that this country that could be good many times fail because its people in power don't always see the value of treating everyone fairly. Until we do, there will remain confusion all over.
With recent Alabama voting decision, I felt it was time to discuss issue regarding women and it made be think about the Helen Reddy 70's hit, I AM Woman. The song was relevant then and could not be more relevant now.
This sexism has got to change and we women will just have to fight harder.
There has been a lot of conversation going on around Steve Harvey's comments about sleep. Well, I am at an age where I KNOW myself and I need my 6 to 8 hours a day because I can think better.
To me, if you can think better, you can make better decisions about life and money. As a writer, sleep definitely makes me better. Rich people do sleep or they eventually die early.
And what I am listening to is a favorite song of mine called "As I Sleep" but saxophonist Richard Elliot.
Sleep guys sleep. What you want will come to you.
Sometimes I think I am too familiar with people because some see me as how I used to be and don't see me as I am now. It is sweet that people find me approachable, but sometimes a curse because the business part of me is ignored. This is an issue and one I plan to change.
Trying to enjoy the latest Broadway musical taught me a lesson about self-care and not allowing someone to expect that I be a mentor or take a picture while trying to watch a show.
Simply learning the Art of Saying No." When I think of it, I think of the Destiny Child hit called "No, No, No." As I get older I am find it is important to say No more in order to keep your life balanced.
I decided to have a conversation on the pointless emotion of being jealous of someone else. I mean, in the age of the internet and social media people have access to things you have done and will sometimes find themselves coveting what you do. I say that is a bad thing.
Even successful people have down times. What is for you, is for you and what is someone else's is theirs. Let's be happy for another and throw away the jealousy because it truly is a waste of time.
One of the new things I am working on doing is not sharing as much information for free anymore. There is no benefit for me and I am starting to miss out on a few things which have not the best for my life. I have to balance more.
Sometimes you have to tell people the truth when your personal goal to grow.
When we are younger there are things we accept and that is fine, but as we get older, there are things that we no longer want in our lives. With this being the first month of 2019, change is necessary.
Change is good and I am looking forward to all the good that happens.
I have been blessed to work at cool companies, but this came from hard work, networking, God blessings and great people giving me a chance.
I enjoy giving advice and listening to others, but some days I am starting not to enjoy it as much Why you might ask? I am feeling that way because of imbalance. The imbalance is that sometimes people don't just call to say hello. They call with questions.
Now in 2019, I am cutting back on answers some questions.
Talking about a song which embodies what I feel as a business owner and entrepreneur.
It seems to be like "pulling teeth" to get people to pay for your services. Most people have worked hard to get to where they are so paying them for their services and advice or offering them to pay for them is always a good gesture.
Also, it is just good business. How come people don't know that? Maybe this podcast will help.
This post is about each person living the life they please, whether an entrepreneur or employee.
Also, it is about choosing the genre of music that suits you and for others to simply mind their own business.
Singer Dante Hawkins released his album Life Music Vol. 1 on Christmas Day, December 25, 2018.
The music is catchy, positive and so good. His voice is amazing and he really has something good to say which is needed these days.
Sharing my thoughts on my friend Yen who introduced me to the song "Oceans." It is a very inspiring song that I need from time to time.
There are just some songs that lift your spirits right away and this is one.
Talking about money and how I feel about it specifically today. Hoping to inspire others by inspiring myself
A chat talk about my experience doing press coverage for the Lifetime TV screening of the documentary Surviving R. Kelly. The event was calm, then met with protest and a bomb threat. It was scary, but everyone was okay.
A chat with a fellow commuter about how we enjoyed the Phantom of The Opera soundtrack.
I was simply on the train and a fellow commuter saw what I was listening to and we struck up a conversation.
Talking about music and what others are listening to. There is also talk about life, a few jokes and fun during the 15- minute talk.
