FROM LADY VJ:
More women face inequality at work, not for lack of talent but because we often struggle with unequal life demands and Personal Organization. I founded NOTIQ to bridge this inequity by offering attainable, fashion-forward, work-life goods that are intimately relevant to women and help women grow in time, money, and life management. I do this with sustainable, animal-free leather goods that equip women to stand out and engage equitably, while solving the problem of environmental pollution. I imagine a world where women are empowered to become more and, in return, change the world around them. I aim for my designs to ignite the dreams of ambitious women and inspire them to live elegant, organized, and meaningful lives.

This is a very short episode, but I have something supremely important to share with you today. First, I want to lift you up. We live in a wonderful world, full of opportunity and promise. Everyone has the ability to have their own platform, and it seems like the world is full of others just like you.
But, and this is a big but, if you remember to put your own special sauce on everything that you do, then you’ll never have to worry about being just like someone else! Listen as I share stories about my mom’s cooking and some words of wisdom from a very good friend.
In this episode, I want you to take a moment and just stop. Take time to look around and see the world around you. It’s full of people who need us to take a second look and be there for them. I recently saved a man’s life because I took the time to realize that something was wrong. I urge you to take a moment and stop, pause, and get clarity on your path and your goals.
Be the boost that someone else needs to find the top of the monkey bars!

[00:53] Welcome back to the show and get ready to stop!
[03:35] Be yourself in whatever it is that you are doing.

[07:20] Sometimes all we need to do is stop, pause, and get clarity.
[08:12] Take a moment and think of someone else each and every day.
[08:51] What good is success if we don’t share it?
[09:21] Find someone you can stop and go back for.
[10:37] Take the time to give someone else a boost.

Today’s episode is a little bit different. I lost a very dear friend of mine recently. She was so young, only 42 years old. One day she was perfectly fine, no health problems to speak of, and the next she’d experienced a heart attack and passed away 24-hours later. I’m sharing this with you today because it has been placed on my heart to speak about time, and how it is so precious, fragile, and fleeting.
So many of us entrepreneurs pride ourselves on being busy, being productive, hitting certain number goals. People will remember your impact on their lives and the lives of those around you. How are you impacting your corner of the world?
I’ll leave you with this if you were given 6-healthy months to live, what would you be doing differently today? What would you start doing, stop doing, and keep doing? Let me know! Send me a message, leave a review, let me know how you would change your life if you knew you wouldn’t be around tomorrow.
Then remember… everyone’s time here is short! You’re not guaranteed tomorrow. Stay tuned to the end of the episode and hear my prayer for all of those experiencing a period of bereavement.
In This Episode:
[01:02] Welcome back to the show!
[01:42] Life and time are very fragile, what are you doing with your days?
[02:45] Jevonnah shares a story from a book she’s been reading.
[03:34] What would you be doing with your time if you only had 6-months to live?
[05:02] Before you tell your life anything, let your life inform you.
[05:29] Are you spending your time the way you should? Anyone, that you need to call?
[06:13] Stop being so busy, just to be busy.
[07:04] Have the courage to live your life authentic to who you are!
[08:02] Jevonnah prays for those experiencing a period of bereavement.
[10:07] What are you going to start doing? What are you going to stop doing? What are you going to keep doing?

The Entrepreneurial Podcast Episode 6 (Discussing the Story of the Two Chairs)
We are here today discussing critical keys which you need to know as a coach. Today I’ll give you 27 gems you need to know as a coach. From keeping yourself together and carrying yourself well to how you can serve others with excellence. The basics, such as ‘be prepared’ are just as essential as the more advanced components we talk about on this episode.
We speak about the foundational values and thought processes of what makes a good coach. How a great coach is one who the learner seeks and finds, as the teacher will appear to those who are ready for your practice. Instead of looking to ‘take’ from a client, listen to let your life speak to others. Coaching should be an ingrained part of who you are and in your nature to inspire other people. Remember the Momentum Theorem and complete, don’t compete, as it’s OK to grow slow.
Tune into the episode to listen to advice and knowledge Jevonnah gives today’s coaches. Learn the principles and standards every great coach can carry with them in their coaching toolbox. Find out

How do you honor the service of ministry when you are helping people who are struggling and still bring in an income?
This question recently came up in my coaching group. We divided this into categories to take bite-sized pieces to talk about and work out a solution.
We speak about ministry and the critical components of ministry such as helping, service, and struggling. How can you help? By doing good to others by letting your life be a light, an example to others. Teach others how to invest in themselves and why investing in yourself is essential. Giving your services away for free does not assist them in the necessary growth process. Allow the power of investment to move through to your clients.
Tune into the episode to listen to the details of these stories and more. Addressing solutions to these struggles is the way to find freedom and growth for you and your clients without feeling resentment and burnout.
In This Episode:
[01:55] - How Jevonnah addressed this question in the coaching session.
[03:00] - Jevonnah asks, “When you think of honor, what comes to mind for you?”
[03:53] - Another question Jevonnah poses is ‘What does helping mean to you?”
[04:35] - We have all been through a struggle, how do you address struggle?
[05:30] - Jevonnah recommends teaching people the power of investing in themselves.
[07:20] - Jevonnah tells us we should not feel obligated and to be careful of burning out and resentment.
[08:15] - We hear what Jevonnah’s solution number one is for these struggles.
[10:12] - Jevonnah speaks about having skin in the game and having a full cup.
[12:15] - Jevonnah suggests serving one to many, to serve more people as a coach.
[13:45] - Jevonnah tells us what the best version of yourself could include.
[14:45] - Have a coach who has their own coach and is in a leadership position.
[15:55] - Jevonnah says confidence comes from taking action.
[18:03] - How Jevonnah inspired others to have a service of ministry and still be profitable.
[20:03] - Jevonnah says to take good care of yourself as you build your business.

We are here today talking about creative ways to let your life speak! It’s important to remember that we need to make the higher values guide everything we do.
I tell people about webinars, ads, and courses, and these are necessary; however, the best way to getting clientele is letting your life speak.
The grocery store: I struck up a conversation with the person next to me, and they ended up becoming a student in my course. Genuine listening is listening to the other person more than telling people about your product or service. Take the time to be more interested in others, so they want to know more about you.
On the airplane: Show yourself friendly! She was excited about what she was working on, and I gave her a referral to another coach who would be better suited for her.
In a car accident: when I was hit by another car, I asked him if we could stop and pray together. He said he felt better. After a conversation, he ended up speaking to his employees about having grace under pressure.
Tune into the episode to listen to the details of these stories and more. It’s incredible how God plays a part in each of these events. Think of ways you can be creative and let your life speak. Be in the being, not so much in the doing.
In This Episode
[02:07] - We hear about letting your life speak, not just using the tools of technology.
[02:20] - Jevonnah tells us to check out the link in the show notes below to register for Thrive Summit 2019
[03:19] - Jevonnah talks about being more interested than interesting to the other person you are talking to.
[04:15] - Jevonnah tells us her about the person she met on the airplane.
[05:17] - Jevonnah gives us her experience about being in a car accident and how prayer played a part in her experience.
[07:31] - We hear about being more than the doing, are you being mindful and self-aware how you influence others?
[08:22] - Jevonnah tells us about her experience at church. Take better actions, get better results.
[09:11] - We hear about Jevonnah’s story about the anxiety and her dentist visit.
[10:03] - Jevonnah tells us that coaching that is done effectively works from the inside out and is a part of who you are and meant to be.

We are diving into listener questions today, so let’s go!
It’s important to me that I keep my ear close to your questions so I can feel the heartbeat of my audience. I can’t wait to dive into questions which listeners sent in!
What advice would you give yourself in your early career as a coach?
How do you choose what investments to make in yourself, when there are so many great choices? Hire someone who is ten steps ahead of me in my business. Be careful who you hire, and check their credentials. Eliminate the noise in my email by unsubscribing when emails are not needed. Control when I check in to my email, not when each email comes in.
What have you heard or used to build your email list? If you want to have a sustainable business, have a good email list. Webinars and an effective landing page, live events when I’m face to face with the people I serve. There is power is a small list.
What are the first three values you must build from the foundation of your business to hold you up through any weather?
Tune into the episode to learn more details when I answer listener questions about email list, how you should invest in yourself, values for your foundation and advice you would give yourself.
[02:03] - Jevonnah welcomes listeners to the episode, where she is answering listener questions.
[02:40] - Jevonnah answers her first listener question about advice she would have given herself when she first started.
[05:57] - Jevonnah recommends a book, Free to Focus by Michael Hyatt.
[06:15] - Jevonnah answers her second listener question about investing in yourself.
[08:05] - We hear the answer to the third listener question
[09:55] - Jevonnah answers the fourth listener question

This is going to be so good today, how to practice staying focused. I hear from so many people all the time who say, "Lady J., I just need to focus. How do I do that?"
Today, I'm going to give you some practical tips and takeaways, and I want you to know that you absolutely can stay focused.
It is a choice.
You prioritize what is on your to-do list. Nobody else can do that for you. It's easy to say, "Well, I have this. I have that."
The truth of the matter is, is that you allow yourself to have on that list what you have. Nobody is dictating to us that we need to do certain things. We do those things, so I want you to feel empowered to focus after listening to today's show.
Does that mean you need to delegate?
Does that mean that you need to reprioritize?
Maybe you need to get rid of some stuff. All of these things put together will help you focus in an even greater way.

Let’s talk about transitions. To get to the heart of the matter, I’ll explore this topic through my own personal story of my move from California to Alabama. Whether you’re transitioning between physical locations (like I did), or your transition is related to a relationship or mindset, I hope this episode helps you get through the process with grace.
The word of the Lord will last forever, but heaven and earth will pass away. We have to embrace change, and the fact that transition is a natural part of life and of living. That doesn’t make it easy, though, which is why I want to go into depth about this topic!
When I moved from California to Alabama, I missed my family and loved ones, not to mention my home. And that’s okay! No matter what transition you’re going through, it’s okay for it to be difficult to give up what you’ve been used to. And it took me a few years to really make the adjustment. Transition isn’t a sprint; you need to give yourself time.
If there’s one thing I could ask of you regarding transitions, it would be this: have the courage to make big moves! I don’t only mean literal, physical moves from one place to another, but also big moves in your life and your mindset. One way to make this easier is by nurturing and developing your relationships and friendships so that you have people to share with and to support you through tough times.
Tune into the episode to learn more about all of this, as well as my top three tips for transitions! these tips are particularly for physical transitions like my move from California to Alabama, but they may resonate in a different way in your life.

We all find ourselves making excuses at some point. That’s why today’s episode is all about how to arrest your excuses and dismantle them until they no longer have power over you. Credit for this phrasing goes to Anna from Greece, who asked about how to do this a while back and inspired this episode! I love the word “arresting” in this context, because it so perfectly fits what you need to do with your excuses.
I’ll give you seven ways to eliminate your excuses. Once you tune into the episode, you’ll hear all about each one in powerful detail, but here’s a list as a preview or a reminder:
I hope that these tips help you as much as they’ve helped me. Stay focused, stay faithful, and don’t forget to tune in next week, when I’ll talk all about some things that you need to know as a coach.

Let’s talk about the importance of staying genuine in your business. Lots of entrepreneurs online are always pushing products and sales, and sometimes forget to lead with their hearts. People can sense it when you’re fake or insincere, so always lead from a place of generosity and genuine love.
You might have heard that people buy things from people who they know, like, and trust. I want to change this a little bit: people buy things from people who they know, love, and trust! This is why it’s so important to build a loyal audience and following who know that you love them and will take care of them.
A rising tide lifts all boats. When someone who you’ve helped succeeds, you succeed too! Having a scarcity mindset is counterproductive, so cultivate an abundance mindset and make sure that you’re coming from a place of genuine love. You won’t connect with everyone, but you will connect with the right people. At the end of the day, your client should be the hero, while you’re the guide who points them in the right direction.

Building a StoryBrand with Donald Miller (podcast)
Staying positive when you get turned down or told “no” can be a challenge! All of us entrepreneurs, leaders, and people who are doing more with our lives sometimes run into a “no” or get turned down, but if you’re going to do great things, you need to be willing to put yourself out there!
Sometimes time is enough to turn a “no” into a “yes” (you’ll hear an amazing story explaining this in today’s episode, so tune in!). But keep in mind that a “no” now doesn’t necessarily mean a “yes” later. That’s why it’s so important that you have multiple streams of revenue and don’t count on just one source for your income.
Now, back to being positive! If (when) you get told “no,” don’t wallow in it and sulk. If you need to, spend five minutes feeling sorry for yourself, but definitely don’t give yourself a full day. Get back up again, get back out there, and keep going after it! If you need to keep thinking about it, do so by focusing on what you can learn from the experience to help you do better next time.
Being told “no” is sometimes because the other person really can’t afford it, but more often that we need to refine and perfect our sales process. Tune into this episode to learn more about this, and why sometimes hearing “no” is so important!
In This Episode:

It’s time to dig deep into the details! If you’re ready to learn how to make the most of your unique social media marketing strategy, this is the episode for you. I’m not claiming to be an expert in this topic, but I’ll tell you exactly what works for me so you can implement some of those strategies yourself.
So much of relationship-building these days is done on social media, so pick a platform and remain consistent. (Yes, you can just pick one or two instead of trying to spread yourself across all of them.) My first important piece of advice is that social media doesn’t need to rule your life! I work in focused blocks of time, which means that my mind isn’t scattered.
Next, be intentional in adding value. This means being a giver! There are plenty of people out there spamming people and asking for things. By giving and adding value, you make enough deposits that when you have something to sell, you’ll be in a better position to receive.
Finally, and this is so important, be consistent! This doesn’t mean you need to post every day, but show up for your audience when you tell them you will. This builds trust, and allows your audience to know when and how to expect you.
Everybody does it differently, so do what works for you, but know that you don’t need to do it all. Finally, remember not to build everything on rented land. Instead, bring your audience from your social platforms back to your home base. Tune in to hear more about all of these points and learn some strategies for making the most of your social media marketing!
In This Episode
[00:46] - Welcome to episode 36 of the podcast! Today, Jevonnah will talk all about how to make the most of your social media marketing strategy.

[07:07] - Jevonnah’s biggest piece of advice is to ask God, but not use prayer as an excuse to not take action.
[09:52] - We move onto today’s topic: making the most of your social media marketing platform.
[10:57] - Be intentional in adding value, Jevonnah advises.
[11:44] - Jevonnah’s next tip for making the most of your social media is to be consistent.
[12:43] - Everybody does it differently, Jevonnah points out, and explains an important point about building on rented land.

Let’s talk about how to have patience under stress as you build your business. Stress affects all of us! Whether you’re building a business or not, you’ve experienced it and you know about it. Before we go on, let me just clarify that there’s good stress and bad stress. Good stress, for example, is when you put your body through a workout.
Bad stress is when you’re burned out and feel like you need to take a nap for an entire month. It’s when it feels like you’ve been going and going, and it never ends. And that’s what I’ll be talking about today. I’ve been there, and I want to help you learn to have patience, do self-care routines, and slow down as you build this business.
Lots of people want to microwave a business and get it done in four simple steps. But that’s not reality. Building a business takes time, focused intensity, hard work, consistency, and getting a lot of “no”s. So give yourself time, and re-energize yourself during the process! Ready for some ideas on how to do this?
You can thrive, flourish, and be re-energized, even during seasons of stress and burnout. And you have time for what you prioritize. If you don’t prioritize yourself, of course you’ll never have time!

Cultivate What Matters
The sounds of the garden video
Getting a potential lead interested in working with you is only half of the question. The other half is figuring out whether you want to work with them! And that’s what today’s episode is all about: how to know whether a client is the right fit (or not). Not everybody is going to be a “yes” for you, so protect your energy and your time by working with the right clients!
With that in mind, there are three things that I want you to know when you’re figuring out whether someone is a good fit for you and your business. Ready to learn what they are? Tune into the episode to hear about them in detail, or read on for a summary and reminder!
First, assess whether there’s a deep resonance in your spirit, and look for an openness in this person. If you find someone who’s always pointing the finger at other people rather than taking responsibility, rethink whether you want to work with this person!
Second, watch for great chemistry. This means trust and respect developing in the conversation. If those things aren’t there, that’s a major red flag that you might not be the right fit for each other.
Finally, look for teachability. You want to work with people who are teachable (and keep in mind that you should be teachable too, and open to learning from your clients).
Don’t miss this episode to help you figure out exactly how to figure out if someone is the right fit for you. I’ll explore these three things in more depth, as well as offering a couple other tips to help you with this vital process.
In This Episode:

Sometimes my podcasts are full of broad, encompassing advice that you can apply across your life and business. And sometimes they’re ultra-specific! Today is the latter type, and I’ll be focusing on how to consistently add value to your Facebook groups.
As a listener to this podcast, there’s a pretty good chance that you’re a leader, influencer, high-achiever, and/or business owner. And I know that lots of you have Facebook groups where you lead other people and share your wisdom. My goal today is to help you help the people in your groups, and empower you to continue giving value to the people you serve.
Here’s my first tip for consistently adding value to your Facebook groups, while increasing engagement, is simply to comment! Take the time to invite your members to introduce themselves, and send them a personal note of encouragement to get them started.
My second tip is to celebrate small wins, and to give away something of value that new members can start using immediately. After that, my third tip is to get personal! Facebook groups have higher participation if people get to know each other on a personal level, and you can facilitate this.
My fourth tip might seem confusing at first: create a higher barrier to entry. You might end up with fewer people in your group, but they’ll all be the right people! Next, make sure you create posting guidelines, and share them in a pinned post at the top of the group.
Next, make sure you have a great (and concise) mission statement. This helps promote cooperation and leads to better understanding of what people should post. Create a culture of generosity, love, and respect, as well as challenging one another to grow!
My other tips include using analytics and creating Facebook events to provide more high-value information, which I’ll explain in more depth in the episode. Whether you’re already the leader of a Facebook group or you’re not quite there yet but ready to learn, don’t miss this episode to understand how to bring the most value to everyone in your group.

[04:01] - Next, get personal! Jevonnah talks about why opening up is so important to building a strong community.
[05:09] - We learn about Jevonnah’s fourth and fifth tips.
[06:41] - Jevonnah’s next tip is to have a great mission statement.

[08:57] - Jevonnah reviews her tips for consistently adding value to your Facebook group.

Let’s talk about how to blend faith and business in a secular world. This comes up for a lot of us who are believers, but also happen to be in business. Blending your spiritual and work life without being overbearing is a tough line to walk sometimes. On one hand, you want to reflect your values across all aspects of your life (including business), but you don’t want to be overly preachy. The struggle is real, so I’m here to help you along the way!
To start off, just be kind. Say hello, give a genuine smile, or pay honest compliments. Next, be amazingly generous. This will speak volumes about your faith, without you needing to say a single word about it. My third tip is to socialize and be friendly. To have a friend, you have to be friendly! This doesn’t mean you need to attend every event, but you should go out of your way to extend kindness and socialize.
My fourth tip is the first one that involves actually sharing your faith: mention your faith in passing, but be strategic. I’ll give an example of this during the episode, so you can understand what it means. Shine the light instead of bringing the heat! My fifth and final tip on the subject for today is to pray for business insight that gets results, and pray for insights before you move forward.
The world is noisy, big, and tempting, and will try to pull you away from your core values. Don’t let that happen! Stay true to what you know, and remember that God helped you get started.
In This Episode:

I’m so thankful to have you here! It’s a pleasure to be able to connect with you, and to do what I can to inspire, encourage, and support you along the way. But do you know the reason for this podcast? If not, tune in, because that’s what this episode is all about! I talk to a lot of my clients about the importance of having a strong “why,” and this episode is about coming back to home base and getting grounded again in my “why.”
Before we get into that, though, here’s a challenge for you, and something I’ve been practicing: reframe the things you have to do as things you get to do. So many people would love to have a job, to be able to go grocery shopping, or to pick up their kids. Thank God you have the means to buy food, or kids to pick up, or a job to go to!
Now, onto why I started this podcast. The opportunity to speak into your life and encourage you has been such an inspiration, help, and blessing for me as well. After I became a pastor’s wife, I knew that God was calling me to blend my experience as an entrepreneur and businesswoman with my new role. After ten years, I started this podcast for women in ministry, business, and leadership.
After praying on it, the words “entrepreneurial first lady” came to me, and I was called to create this podcast. My hope and prayer is that no matter who and where you are, what you hear in this podcast will help carry you through a hard time and help you realize the gifts that are inside of you. Thank you for being part of this journey, and letting me join you along the way.

Before we get started today, I want to say thank you. Maybe not everyone whose lives you have touched has had the opportunity to come back and say thank you themselves, but I know you’ve done so much for other people, and I’m here to say thank you on their behalf.
Today, I have an important question for you: what are you letting go of to make room for new growth? Recently, I shared an email that pointed out that your success is in God’s hands. So rest in His love, and listen to the silence. Don’t get so caught up in checking things off of your to-do list that you forget what matters most.
Here’s the thing: a lot of us are holding onto things that need to be let go of. We’re holding onto baggage that needs to be cut off and let go of so we can grow in new areas of our lives. Let that bad relationship, negative thinking, or limited mindset go. What is it that’s draining your time and taking away from what’s most important?
After being inspired by Lara Casey, I filled my space with beautiful living plants. Every time I water and nurture these plants, I’m nurturing and tending my own soul and wellness. I’d like to invite you to do the same, whether with plants or even a pet. Loving outside of yourself gives you the opportunity to love yourself, too.
I’d also like to invite you to write down three things: the one thing you want to cultivate the most this year, one thing you’ll surround yourself with less of this year, and one thing you’ll fill your life with more of this year. As a bonus, write down what you’re saying yes to (and what you’re saying no to).
In This Episode:
[00:46] - Welcome to episode 30! Jevonnah shares her excitement to be here sharing this episode with you.
[01:32] - Thank you, on behalf of everyone whose lives you have touched.

[11:52] - We hear about an orchid that Jevonnah was inspired to get.

Today, I’m going to do something a little different. I don’t have any notes for this episode. Instead, I’m here to share from my heart, and to encourage the encourager (that’s you!).
Since you’re listening to this show, you’re probably a leader or influencer in some way. You’re someone who is constantly encouraging other people, and helping them see what they can’t see in themselves. What comes with that is a whole lot of responsibility, misunderstandings, and being taken for granted. Today, it’s your turn! I’m here to encourage and celebrate you.
The difference between the called and the chosen is that the chosen are the ones who choose to answer the call. You have chosen to answer that call, and that road is definitely full of challenges. Please know that your work is not in vain. You are an amazing encourager, and when you hit obstacles and stumble or fall down, it’s time to get back up again! Turn those obstacles into opportunities.
I’d like to issue you a challenge to help you along the way. Sometime within the next 24 hours, sit down and write a letter to your future self, ten years from now. Write to your future self about where you want to be at that point -- not just geographically, but also in your career, your spiritual journey, and your personal life. Who are you? What are you doing? Who are you impacting? What are you giving?
Remember, your living is not in vain. You’re here to make an amazing difference in the world, and I’m so thankful to have this opportunity to encourage you along the way.
In This Episode:
[00:45] - Jevonnah welcomes listeners to the show. In today’s special episode, she’ll be sharing straight from the heart.
[02:18] - There’s something special about you, Jevonnah points out.
[03:11] - Jevonnah talks about a song she particularly loves, and plays part of the song for listeners who aren’t familiar with it (or who could benefit from hearing it!).
[05:25] - Jevonnah encourages listeners not to dwell on the obstacles along the way.
[07:13] - As a challenge, write a letter to yourself ten years in the future the way you want it to be at that point.
[09:22] - All is going to be well, Jevonnah reassures listeners. If it’s a struggle now, it won’t be that way forever.
[09:52] - Jevonnah talks about something she read recently that explains that your message won’t be for everyone.
[12:01] - Jevonnah reiterates that your living is not in vain, and invites listeners to share this episode with anyone you know who needs encouragement.
[12:43] - Today’s shoutout goes to two amazing leaders: Winston Faircloth and Daphne V. Smith.
[15:04] - To close out the episode, Jevonnah plays the full song Is My Living In Vain by The Clark Sisters.

Are you ready to overcome your fear?! Even if you’re not convinced that you can, I believe in you, and I’m here to give you very practical takeaways to put into action and begin living an even braver life. Even people who encourage others sometimes feel deep fear, and I’m here to help you prepare to face it when it comes up.
You absolutely can’t cheat the world out of the gifts that you have, and your story can help so many people! I want you to feel confident and empowered in sharing your voice, and the message that God has placed in your heart. Here are some tips to help you do that, even when it feels hard:
Believe it or not, you don’t need to project the image of having everything together all the time. Everyone knows that’s not true! So let yourself be open, honest, and vulnerable with your audience, and they’ll be able to relate to you even better.
Ready to practice your fearlessness? Here’s an exercise for you! Imagine you’re in a situation that scares you, like preparing to enter a big meeting or start a Facebook Live. Now, look at your hands, and open them, palms facing the sky. Take a deep breath, and release it. Simply opening your hands brings you to a place of openness and gratitude.
You are made for greatness, so stay hungry and stay humble!

Do you struggle with a tendency to say “yes” even if you don’t want to? Is it hard for you to turn people or opportunities down, even when you know that you should? I think we’ve all been there, which is why I think this episode will be so valuable. Today, I’m going to teach you ten ways to say “no” gracefully.
Yes, that’s right, you can say “no” gracefully—and still preserve the relationship with the person you’re saying “no” to! And, as you’ll learn, saying “no” is actually an act of kindness both to yourself and others. But before we get into the ten ways to do that, here are a few ground rules that you need to know:
Make sense so far? Good! Now we can move onto very specific ways to say “no” gracefully. Many of these come from the amazing Marie Forleo’s Ultimate Guide to Saying “No.”
Tune into the episode to learn more about all of these methods, as well as some bonus ways that you can say “no” to just about everyone else! When your “no” is genuine, compassionate, and warm, there’s no need to feel guilty about saying it, and it doesn’t need to damage your relationships.
In This Episode:
[00:47] - If you’ve ever felt pressure to say “yes,” this is the episode for you!

[04:25] - Saying “no” is actually an act of kindness, Jevonnah points out.
[05:02] - Jevonnah lays out a few ground rules that you need to know first.
[07:58] - We learn about practical ways to say “no” to different people, starting with an employee saying “no” to their boss.

If you’re tempted to give up on something, tune in to this episode first! This inspirational message is all about how not to throw in the towel, even when you feel ready to admit defeat. We all get tired along the way, and want to give up at times, but I’m here to help you keep on keeping on with what God told you to do.
Of course, there are some things that we need to quit, but you shouldn’t give up on your divine purpose. Your best days are still ahead of you, and the most amazing moments in your past were just a warm-up for what’s still to come!
Today I’ll give you three powerful ways not to throw in the towel, even when the road feels rough. First, assess the situation and figure out why you’re doing what you’re doing. Is there anything you need to do differently, or that you’re doing because of a request rather than because your heart is in it?
Know that not every good thing is a God thing. This means that not every opportunity that comes your way is something you need to say “yes” to. Instead, you need to find out if any given opportunity is in alignment with your goals, priorities, and purpose.
Next, remember why you got started along this path. Holding on to your “why” can provide the motivation that you need to stay strong. When you lose your “why,” you can lose your way.
Finally, get help! If you’re in that messy middle part of your path, and more opportunities are coming your way than you know what to do with, get help by hiring someone to take some of the load off of you. Instead of throwing in the towel, let someone else take some things off your plate to free up your bandwidth for what you really need to do!
In This Episode:
[00:45] - Welcome to episode 26! Today, Jevonnah will encourage you not to throw in the towel.
[03:32] - Jevonnah offers listeners a powerful way not to throw in the towel, even when it may seem hard to keep going.
[05:51] - The second tip Jevonnah is offering listeners today is to remember why you got started.
[06:23] - Jevonnah shares her third tip: get help!
[07:08] - We hear words of encouragement not to throw in the towel.
[08:12] - Jevonnah asks listeners to make room in their lives for the things that truly matter by cutting away the fluff.
[09:41] - Don’t throw in the towel, Jevonnah entreats, and gives a shout-out to her friend Chris McCluskey of Professional Christian Coaching Institute.
[11:08] - Take some time for yourself this week to follow the three steps that Jevonnah has explored today.

Are you giving this show your full attention, or are you trying to multitask and do everything at once? If it’s the latter, this is definitely the episode for you, because I’ll share three ways to help you minimize distractions!
In this day and age, it seems like everything (and everyone) is vying for your attention all the time. That’s why I want to help you get laser focused, minimize distractions, and accomplish the most important tasks that you need to get done. You absolutely can focus, I promise! I want you to feel empowered to do this, and that’s what these three strategies will help you do.
The first of these three strategies is to work in focused blocks of time. For example, between 7 AM and 8 AM, all I did today was work on this podcast: doing research, studying, working on show notes, and so on. At first, you might find you’re getting distracted during your blocks of time. But by blocking out this time and making sure nothing else interrupts you, you develop your concentration muscle.
My second strategy is to do a onesie. This means just focusing on one thing at a time. Right now, grab a sheet of blank paper and write down one thing that you want to accomplish within the next 30 minutes. Clear your desk of all the clutter, put that one sheet of paper in front of you, and only focus on that for your next block of time.
Third, it’s important to limit the number of tabs you have open on your computer. When you have too many tabs open, just turning your computer on can be overwhelming. Learn the power of bookmarking, which allows you to close a tab and come back to it later rather than having it staring you in the face.
Tune in today to hear more about all of these strategies, start learning to minimize distractions, and learn to take control of your time, your focus, and your life!

If you’re ready to learn all about how to protect your confidence as a leader, you’re in the right place! Let’s start the year off strong by staying strong and confident as we go forth in the world and use our unique talents and gifts.
Before we get into that, though, I’ll dig into the question of drawing a clear line between ministry and business. How do you avoid being taken advantage of in your business when you serve and minister for free?
I made the difference very clear from the beginning that my business was business (and therefore paid), and that my ministry events were ministry (and free). In your business, it’s important that people know that you charge for your services. However, when you’re in ministry, continue to serve in that vein as well with a very specific line between the two.
This is why I held my first live event for my business at a hotel rather than my church. In this way, I drew a line between my ministry and my business. This is an example of setting clear boundaries between the two, which will help you avoid confusion and frustration later on!
And now, onto confidence! Sometimes, going higher means experiencing more turbulence. This is why it’s so important to care for our confidence as we move forward and upward in our journeys. Here are some fantastic tips to help you protect your confidence:
Don’t forget to tune into this episode to learn exactly why these strategies are so incredibly powerful, and how you can put them to work for you. Here’s to an amazing 2019 full of confidence, success, and making a difference!
In This Episode:
[00:47] - Welcome to episode 24! Thank you for using your amazing talents and gifts to make a difference.

Forgiveness lets you feel absolutely free, liberated, and empowered. God has needed to forgive me a whole lot, and I’m so grateful that He did. Has He needed to forgive you, too? Have you felt yourself becoming less judgmental and more full of grace the more you’re forgiven? It’s your turn to pass that onto others through the power of forgiveness.
What are you going to let go of? Who have you been playing it safe with, while politely keeping your distance? Who has been mean or rude to you? Bob Goff, author of Everybody, Always, says not to tell these people all your opinions. Instead, give them all your love. Isn’t that incredible? If you do this, I promise two things will happen. First, it will be messy (and sometimes ugly). Second, you will grow. People who are growing fall forward and bump into Jesus all over again. And that’s worth the mess!
Remember that the best billboard is a life well-lived. Let your life speak, let God use you, and choose forgiveness today. Keep planting those seeds of love, and I promise that you will reap what you sow.
In This Episode:
[01:00] - Welcome to the show! Today’s topic is all about how forgiveness changes you, Jevonnah explains, then shares her hopes for listeners.
[02:06] - We learn about how forgiving others (or yourself) allows you to feel.
[03:01] - Jevonnah shares a powerful quote that reveals why it’s so harmful not to forgive others.
[03:51] - Jevonnah recommends a book that she has recently finished reading, and explains how it has helped her.
[05:06] - It’s hard for Jevonnah, too, but to follow in Jesus’ steps, we need to follow His example by loving our enemies.
[06:25] - If you want to become love, stop just agreeing with Jesus, and start doing what He says.
[07:16] - Jevonnah talks about an experience that you’ll have as you practice loving everybody, always.
[07:36] - As you go forward with the rest of your day, love someone with all of your heart and forgive with all of your might, and ask God to help you become the person that He would have you be.
[08:24] - Jevonnah shares a prayer with listeners.

Have you ever said something, then wished you could go back and not say it (or say something else)? Our words are like feathers; once we’ve thrown them into the wind, it’s basically impossible to go gather them all back. And as leading ladies, everything we say is magnified. This is why it’s so important that your message has clarity and imparts grace, and that your words are tastefully spoken. Remember that it’s okay not to say everything!
Your words reflect your character, so if you’re thinking positive thoughts, you’ll be able to speak grace, love, and truth to other people. At many organizations, including the learning center that I led, there’s a no-gossip policy. So, what do you do if someone comes to you complaining or gossiping about someone else? Tune into this episode to find out!
I’ll also explain how important it is to remember that as a leading lady, you’re not a trash can. Instead, you’re a lighthouse! Let your character and integrity shine through and show, and make sure that the words you speak give life to those who hear them. Finally, I’ll address a question that Jared asked, but instead of answering, I’d like to let the amazing conversation over there speak for itself, so go check it out once you’re done listening to this episode!

[05:22] - Jevonnah points out that you need to earn the right to speak the truth in love.
[07:10] - As a leading lady, Jevonnah points out, you’re a lighthouse (not a trash can).
[07:59] - Jevonnah shares a comment where Jared asked an amazing question that got lots of responses.
[10:08] - Remember to taste your words before you speak. As you do that, your words will impart empowerment, edification, and encouragement to those who hear them.

We can’t control what happens to us, but we can absolutely control our response, and that’s what makes all the difference. You can have grace even under pressure, and I want you to feel confident in your ability to love others even in difficult moments.
Here’s my story: I was on my way back from my Thursday Bible study. As I sat waiting at a red stoplight, I got slammed into from behind by a giant black SUV. The impact was so strong that I was shocked. The driver got out of the SUV and came around to my window. I saw that he was shaking as he asked if I was okay. He was so apologetic, and as I saw his hands shaking, I felt compelled to ask if I could take his hands so we could pray together.
After that prayer, the trajectory of the entire incident changed. Everything felt lighter. I was fine, he was fine, even the cars were ultimately fine. Amazingly, I also learned that this man is in a high position with one of the contracting firms here. He extended an invitation to come speak to his employees about having grace under pressure.
People ask me all the time how to get clients, but you can’t plan events like this! Making human contact with people, and treating others the way you want to be treated, is one of the very best marketing tactics. Operate with character and integrity, and the opportunities will come to you.
Tune into this episode to learn more about this incident, as well as why your decisions about how to respond to what happens to you can make all the difference.

At this time of year, lots of people are going through ups and downs. You may have a smile on your face, but not be as happy as people think you are. Are you in a dark place? Even though it might be hard to believe in the middle of the darkness, you are blessed. You can go to God in prayer, and while it may seem like a dry season, the refreshing, nurturing rain is coming.
I once knew a beautiful, intelligent, smart, funny woman named Collette. We were the best of friends! About six years ago, she was diagnosed with cancer; just two months later, she was gone from this earth. She passed away on Christmas Eve, of all days. That was one of my dark times. God shined His light on that darkness, and blessed me to start my company, the Entrepreneurial First Lady.
Take comfort in knowing that the reason that you have big problems is that you have a big destiny. Darkness develops your character! Think of a photo back in the old days of film: it had to be developed in complete darkness. The same goes for seeds; they need to germinate in the darkness underground, not in the light on the surface. The darkness develops your character. It makes you stronger and wiser, and helps your roots go down deep.
The very best is still yet to come, just for you!
In This Episode:
[00:46] - Jevonnah welcomes listeners to the episode, and introduces today’s topic: the idea that you’re blessed even when you’re in a dark place.
[02:32] - We dig into today’s content, with Jevonnah starting off with some powerful scriptures about darkness, light, harm, and good.
[03:53] - What do you do when you’re in a dark place? Jevonnah shares her own experience with being in a dark place.
[06:22] - One of the top regrets of those who are dying is that they didn’t have the courage to live a life true to themselves, instead of the expected life.
[08:12] - Jevonnah explores the powerful reason that you have big problems.
[11:03] - Wherever you are, you’re not there by accident, Jevonnah points out.

Ready for some powerful insight that I think will change your life? Today, we’ll be diving into practical ways you can simplify your life and business, so that you can amplify your life and business! Simplify to amplify.
You don’t have to do it all. You can selectively choose what you allow into your mind and life, and create more freedom to enjoy your life and business. To begin implementing this powerful philosophy into your life, start with these seven practical strategies for simplifying to amplify!
Let me give you an example of that final tip in case it’s not clear. I used to have a dozen or more tabs open at one time in my browser, but recently, I’ve moved to just having a couple open at a time. This brings an incredible amount of clarity and freedom, because my brain isn’t trying to focus on all those things at once. Clear the clutter from your physical space, mental space, and digital space!

[00:51] - Welcome to episode 16! Jevonnah introduces today’s topic, which is all about how to simplify to amplify.
[02:24] - Jevonnah explains that she has seven practical ways for you to simplify so you can amplify, and shares the first tip.

[06:59] - Jevonnah shares her fifth and sixth tips, both of which use the power of planning.

Today, I’ll talk to you all about how to smile in times of trouble. Before that, though, let me take a moment to say happy Thanksgiving! I hope you’re surrounded by loving friends and family, and that you’re enjoying this special time of gratitude for the many things that God has done in our lives.
In this episode, you’ll learn three ways that you can smile and maintain your peace, joy, and sanity, even during turbulent times. There are nights when you cry yourself to sleep, if you sleep at all. You’re burdened with responsibility and it feels like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders. Sometimes bad news makes you question how you’ll even survive, much less thrive. The world might feel like it’s crashing in around you.
Even in these moments, when life feels at its lowest, these three tools can help you find a way to smile.
First, take perspective. Ask yourself how you can respond in the middle of this turbulent time, and what it makes possible. We can’t control what happens to us, but we can control our response and choose joy, sanity, and love.
Second, think about how you overcame the turbulent season last time it came around. Nothing is too hard for God, and He allowed and enabled you to overcome last time. He’ll do it again, and knowing this gives you victory, abundance, and the right mindset.
Third, renew your mind and direct your emotions. You are in charge of the way you think, and sometimes you need to stop and think about what you’re thinking about. If you don’t arrest the thoughts that come to tear you down, you’ll begin to operate at that level. Speak life to yourself, and watch what you allow yourself to think.
We all deal with trying times and turbulent seasons, but remembering your “why” will help you keep moving forward. Quiet your mind and soul, and intentionally choose what you’re going to do to strengthen yourself when those times come.
In This Episode:
[01:15] - Jevonnah welcomes listeners to the podcast and introduces today’s topic.
[03:44] - What does it really mean to smile and maintain our peace, joy, and sanity even in turbulent times?
[04:29] - The first of Jevonnah’s three tips is to take perspective. She explains what this means and how it can impact your life.
[05:35] - Jevonnah shares her second tip for getting through turbulent times.
[06:09] - The final step in Jevonnah’s series of advice is renewing your mind and directing your emotions.
[07:18] - Jevonnah takes a moment to pray for listeners, and talks about a song that she grew up with.

I’ve asked our brilliant Thrive! community to share their wisdom on morning rituals, and I got some great answers! I hope their responses will give you some great ideas. You might even find that what you’re already doing is affirmed. Marianne, for example, gets up as soon as her alarm goes off without pressing snooze, then makes the bed for an immediate sense of accomplishment. To hear the other six steps of her eight-step process, tune into the episode!
Theresa also wakes up and makes her bed immediately, but adds in a 30-minute soak in the hot tub each morning. How amazing is that! Both ladies so far have a morning ritual that includes down time, and I encourage you not to reach for your phone in the first hour that you’re awake. Be sure to create before you consume!
As you listen to the answers in this episode, I think you’ll start to hear a pattern: most of these high-achievers are accomplishing as much in the first couple of hours in the day as some people get done by the end of the day. If you want to get great things done, take command of your mornings! This will give you so much more bandwidth.
Don’t worry if the responses sound more structured and organized than your mornings are right now. Honesty is so important, and none of us is 100% consistent! Jocelyn, another of the leading ladies who answered the question, acknowledges that she’s not consistent in her practice but does a modified Miracle Morning. Don’t miss this powerful episode that I hope will inspire you to take charge of your mornings and make each day amazing!

[04:10] - Jevonnah shares some of the answers that stood out.
[06:50] - Leading lady Marie Forleo recommends simplifying your morning routine, Jevonnah explains
[07:07] - We hear a couple more people’s answers, including one from an awesome guy in the Thrive! community (that’s right, it’s not only ladies!).
[08:24] - Jevonnah talks about why it’s so vitally important to take time in the morning to still your mind and soul.
[10:07] - It’s okay to admit that we’re not perfect or consistent in our morning routines, Jevonnah points out.
[10:55] - What does your morning routine look like? Jevonnah challenges listeners to include space for reflection and thinking, as well as exercise, into their morning routine.

The Entrepreneurial First Lady Episode 6 (discussing the Two Chairs)
Miracle Morning
Today’s episode will be all about ladies of leadership, and their influence and impact on my life. I can’t wait to hear about the women who have impacted your life, too! Let me know all about them by scrolling down at this link.
The first woman I want to talk about is my incredible mom. She’s my best friend, my hero, and an absolutely phenomenal leader in every single way. When I think of a leading lady or an extraordinary woman who knows how to overcome obstacles and heartache, I think of my mom. She’s the reason that I’m the woman who I am today.
Next up is my best friend Kim. She’s been there for me ever since I can remember, encouraging me and telling the truth. I’ll never forget the moment that I walked out of the hospital doors as my mom was being wheeled into surgery for her cancer, and unexpectedly saw Kim waiting there for me with open arms.
Barbara McCoo-Lewis is another amazing woman who I’ve been blessed to have in my life. She has done so much not only for me, but also for women all over the country. Speaking of amazing leading ladies, I can’t possibly leave First Lady Mae Lawrence Blake off the list! She’s a classy, phenomenal woman and a true leading lady.
I’d also like to take a moment to honor the kind, loving, real, genuine, open, wonderful Joanne Miller. She’s an artist, painter, mother, coach, and leader, as well as the author of the book Creating a Haven of Peace.
My big sister has always listened to me and been there for me. She’s the big sister who every baby sister would want. But keep in mind that the leading ladies who have impacted your life don’t need to be women you’ve met. Michelle Obama is absolutely one of the ladies who have impacted me, but I haven’t yet had the honor of meeting her. I can’t wait to hear about your own leading ladies, so please don’t forget to submit a comment!

It’s so important for you to understand that you don’t need to run yourself into the ground trying to be successful. It’s okay to rest and feel refreshed! Tune into this episode to learn some very practical ways that you can prevent burnout as a successful leading lady.
I recently read In the Grip of Grace by Max Lucado. What I loved about this book is that it makes clear that you will never be called upon to give anyone more grace than God has already given you. Isn’t that powerful? As a high-achieving leading lady, you love to get things done and have accomplishment running through your veins. But remember that God’s love for you isn’t based on your wins or accomplishments. It’s there simply because he loves us.
What this means is that it’s okay to slow down. Life is full of fumbles and stumbles, Max points out, and it’s okay to take care of yourself and stop pushing. You can fall into the endless, refreshing grace of God. Imagine being love-driven instead of self-propelled! This is what can happen when you abandon your life to Jesus.
To help you on your way to experiencing this grace and avoiding pushing yourself too hard, I’ve created a powerful 12-step anti-burnout strategy. Ready to learn what the 12 steps are?
In This Episode:
[00:48] - Jevonnah welcomes listeners to this episode and introduces its topic: how to stay refreshed and rested as a successful leading lady. She then recommends her Coaching Course, as well as the amazing Thrive! group on Facebook.
[02:40] - Today’s listener shoutout goes to enocrepreneur, who left a wonderful review! If you want a shoutout in a future episode, leave a rating and review on iTunes.
[03:42] - Jevonnah recently finished reading In the Grip of Grace by Max Lucado.
[04:54] - This book will help you to slow down, Jevonnah points out.
[06:39] - Jevonnah shares the story of the time that she asked her mom what her name meant and learned that its meaning is “God is gracious.”
[07:10] - We hear the first three steps of Jevonnah’s 12-step anti-burnout strategy. (See above for the full list of her 12 steps!)
[09:00] - Jevonnah shares steps four through eight of her 12-step strategy.
[10:11] - We learn about the final four steps of Jevonnah’s anti-burnout strategy, and why each is so important.

Ready to dive into some listeners’ stories about when people went above and beyond to show that they care? If so, tune in for this amazing episode! You can do for one what you wish you could do for many. I want you to feel confident in your gifts and free to love others, and I think that’s exactly what this episode will inspire you to do!
To say that you care is one thing. To show that you care is quite another. With that in mind, I asked my community one simple question about their fondest memories of times that someone showed that they care. In this episode, I’ll explore the amazing stories that were shared in response! Edwin, a cancer survivor, talks about how much various acts of kindness meant during his sickness. Teresa shares how meaningful a friend’s message was. Another listener stayed in a friend’s house for years while battling cancer, while another shares a touching story about her late husband and a famous singer.
While some of these stories are deeply meaningful expressions of gratitude for kindness given during times of struggle, others are simply about the little things that make every day brighter! Tanya, for example, talks about a coworker who gave her enough yogurt for breakfast each day this week. Isn’t that great? It’s not only the big things that matter; every act of kindness is a chance for gratitude and appreciation.
I’ll wrap up the episode with two stories about experiences of my own involving intentional love. It was a powerful reminder for me of what can happen when you listen to the Holy Spirit. After all, the best things in life aren’t things; they’re the relationships and impact you have, and the way other people feel around you. Those things are what will truly make a difference!
In This Episode:
[00:45] - Jevonnah talks about today’s inspirational subject of listeners’ stories, and shares some words of wisdom.
[01:49] - We hear today’s listener shout-out to Michael McGreevy, who left a fantastic review on iTunes!
[04:07] - It’s time to get into the content! Jevonnah shares the premise question: “What are some of your most fond memories of when someone went out of their way to show that they care?”
[08:04] - Jevonnah talks about the difference between saying that you care and showing that you care.
[10:25] - We hear more stories of gratitude, one from a woman who was then living in Greece and another featuring Lady J herself!
[11:48] - Are you ready to share your own story of someone who showed you that they cared? If so, head to this page to tell Jevonnah your story!
[12:08] - Jevonnah wraps things up with a story of intentional love that she was able to offer to a stranger when he desperately needed it.
[14:55] - We hear one other powerful story from Jevonnah, this time about an experience she had while caring for her mother who had cancer.
[16:47] - What can you do to make a difference in the life of someone today? How can you make a difference for others?

Has your life ever been interrupted by a tragedy or something that you didn’t see coming? Surprisingly, the most trying seasons of your life can turn out to be your biggest blessings in disguise.
This is something I learned while I was caring for my mom as she went through chemo. The process helped me to get clearer in my business and life than ever before. As you listen to today’s episode, you’ll hear something I wrote called “The Little Box of Prayers.” I’ll share some of my distinct memories from that time, and talk about some of the helpful, generous-hearted people who God put in my path when I needed them most.
As my mom left the hospital, the doctors and nurses gave her a standing ovation and thanked her. Even in her weakness, my mom was strong enough to encourage others. Isn’t that incredible? That’s something I believe we all need to take to heart. Even when we don’t feel like putting one foot in front of the other, there’s something deep down inside of you that will help you persist and use my gifts to God’s glory and to encourage other people.
My business grew incredibly during that time of honestly sharing about what I was going through. My email list grew, and I got amazing followers who are still with me today. I learned that you never know what sharing authentically and transparently will do not only for you, but also for those who look up to you.
I want to encourage you to be in awe of God’s glory and to stop to notice and appreciate the little things. What can you be in awe of today? We often ask God to change our situation, but he may be using our situation to change us. So rest in the grip of God’s grace, knowing that when He interrupts your life, it’s for a good reason.

Today we’ll be talking about winning and quitting. You’ve probably heard that “winners never quit,” but the truth is that the best winners among us quit all the time. Surprised? Ready to learn more? Tune in!
Here’s what I mean: winners quit things that aren’t working, that are draining them, or that aren’t in their zone of genius. It’s absolutely okay to pivot. I want you to really think about what you’ll take into the new year, and what you’ll leave behind. You have the freedom to do that, and you don’t need to feel guilty for your decisions.
In today’s episode, I’ll share some real-world strategies from Michael Hyatt that can help you figure out whether to persist on your goals, pivot to different goals, or quit altogether. First, you need to identify why you’re stuck! There are seven things to consider to figure this out:
Tune into this episode to learn more about all of this, and how you can absolutely do all things through Christ, even if that means persisting past exhaustion or heartache.
In This Episode:

So, what’s my secret? It’s two chairs. If you’re not familiar with the concept already from the excellent book 2 Chairs by Bob Beaudine, this probably sounds a little cryptic, but let me explain. You set up two chairs in whatever place where you have your quiet time. These chairs should be facing each other, as if you’re setting up to have a meeting for someone (because that’s exactly what you’re doing).
You sit in one of the chairs, and then you allow the Spirit of God to sit in the other. The way I see it, God is first in our businesses, and Jesus Christ is the CEO. We get our wisdom, direction, and leadership from Him. Especially as you become successful in business, you begin to ask yourself whether you can sustain this level of success and performance. The answer is that by ourselves, no, we can’t -- we need God’s strength! In our weakness, he is made strong.
In these times, two chairs asks three vital questions:
I hope you know the answers to all of these! If you have any doubts, tune into the episode to learn what they are. You’ll also learn how to use the two chairs system, why it’s so important to give Him longer to speak than you take, which Scripture is making a huge difference in my life these days, and more!
In This Episode:
[00:47] - Jevonnah welcomes listeners and takes a moment to share her appreciation.
[01:22] - We learn more about the practice that has changed everything for Jevonnah: two chairs.
[02:39] - Jevonnah explains how you can use the two chairs practice, and why it’s important.
[03:41] - We hear a quote from the book 2 Chairs by Bob Beaudine, and Jevonnah explores how it relates to this concept.
[04:35] - Two chairs asks three vital questions. Jevonnah digs into what they are.
[05:59] - Jevonnah encourages listeners to do two things. First, get a copy of the book. Second, set up your own two chairs, then leave a comment on iTunes as a review to let her know how that simple practice is changing your life!
[07:58] - Today’s show is brought to you by the Leading Ladies Mastermind, Jevonnah’s business accelerator.

2 Chairs: The Secret That Changes Everything by Bob Beaudine
Joshua 1:9
Psalm 32:8
Are you truly a pro?
Your immediate answer might be “yes,” but let’s explore a little more deeply. At what point in your career did you become a pro? I’m careful with that word, because the way I see it, none of us has truly arrived yet. There’s always something to learn, no matter how successful we are and how many wins we have. Instead of saying I’m a pro, I like to say I’m a pro at learning! After all, constantly learning is a requirement of being a pro.
I asked this question of my audience, and they had some fantastic answers. David Hancock, for example, said, “I am always a student in a never-ending quest” and offered the example of a seagull searching for food in endless circles, even after it has already eaten. Edwin says, “When you stop learning is when you start dying, so keep learning.” Tune into the episode for many more incredible answers and insights.
If all of this inspires you to keep learning (and it should!), here’s a powerful piece of advice for you: surround yourself with people who you admire and who will challenge you to grow and thrive. When you change the people who you surround yourself with, you’ll rise to their level.
Listen in today to hear more about how you can grow into the person you have the potential to be, why we all have room for growth, the moving perspective that the incredible Bishop Charles Blake provides, why it’s so important to be selective about what you choose to learn, and much more. I look forward to continuing to walk along this path with you as you become the person you’re destined to be!
In This Episode:
[01:11] - Jevonnah introduces the topic of today’s episode and explains why she’s careful with the word “pro.”
[03:18] - We hear some of the responses that Jevonnah got to her question “are you a pro?”.
[05:59] - Even as we continue to reach new levels of success, none of us ever fully arrives. There’s always something else to learn. Jevonnah offers the example of getting open-heart surgery to illustrate this point.
[06:47] - Jevonnah advises listeners to get a coach if they don’t have one already, and talks about the importance of spending time with the right people.
[08:22] - Jevonnah shares more answers that people have shared to her question about learning and being a pro. She also addresses the importance of taking action.
[10:40] - We hear more powerful and inspirational responses from Jevonnah’s audience.
[12:27] - Jevonnah gives a shout-out to her bishop, Bishop Charles Blake of West Angeles Church.
[14:25] - We hear a saddening statistic that Jevonnah heard recently about how few people read books after they graduate high school.
[16:08] - Jevonnah talks about being selective about what you choose to learn.
[17:27] - We move onto a few final comments in response to Jevonnah’s question.
[18:34] - Something Jevonnah does is to schedule what she calls a “journal sabbath” on her calendar every Sunday after church.
[20:33] - Thanks for tuning into today’s show, and please don’t forget to subscribe to hear a new episode every week!

Now, today's podcast is super special and near and dear to my heart because about maybe two-and-a-half months ago, I sat down, had some quiet time, and just really began to write down some of my top lessons learned from my business journey.
In fact, it was on my birthday not too long ago. I began to write as I celebrated my birthday, I looked back on all the ways that God has protected, kept, comforted, and led me in the way that I should go.
I know that's so true for many of you listening.
For any level of success that we've been blessed to achieve, He enabled it. We can plant the seed, but it's up to Him to send the rain.
For my health, life, and strength, He gave it, and for my being, He made it.
I had to stop and pause and give Him glory for another year of life. He didn't have to do it, but I'm so glad He did.
With that being said, I just began to really think about some of my top lessons learned, and I'm going to share those with you today.
My hope, my prayer is you'd be able to take these, implement them in your own life, and really use them to your advantage.

Ben Franklin close: Take a sheet of paper and write down whatever the decision at the top, and then make two columns on the page. On one column you're going to put the pros, and the other column you're going to put the cons. Today's show is all about laying the foundation. I'm gonna be talking about who I am, what I do, and what you can expect from this podcast.
We're gonna be talking about the meaning of the Entrepreneurial First Lady. And we're also gonna talk about why I started it.
I started the Entrepreneurial First Lady podcast because I sensed that there were so many women who were at the top of their field who were already experiencing great levels of success either in their business, or their personal life, or even in their own companies.
But they still dealt with a certain level of challenge on the other side.
There were women who aspired to be at the top of their field. So I wanted to create a place, a safe place where women could come, and a handful of awesome men as well.
Where you could come and be inspired, encouraged, edified, equipped and empowered to live our your God given purpose to really maximize your potential. And also to expand your influence.
