One of the biggest questions, I've heard students ask before is this "Why do I need to obey God now, if he will forgive me?"
Do you ever worship the checkmark? I mean, the checkmark next to the day you're supposed to read the Bible? Why do we read the Bible? It's to make a connection with Jesus. How to we keep from elevating the process above the prize? Check this week's lesson out!
Most often when you approach reading the Bible for yourself you probably approach it in one of two ways. 1) Inductive Bible Study 2) Devotional Reading Neither of these are wrong or bad, but just like working out, sometimes you need to try some different exercises to grow.
In this week's lesson we gave our student's a resource and then the gift of time to try out some new ways to approach reading God's word.
If you're interested in that same resource, simply head here: http://lhcstumin.com/creative

Starting during the month of October, we’ll be taking a deep dive in a new series that we’re calling “Overwhelmed.”
I recently heard a stat that said:
The average teenager today faces more stress and anxiety than a psychiatric patient from the 1950’s.
Now, I’m not 100% sure how that’s quantified, but the reality is, regardless, our teenagers today are under an immense amount of pressure to perform in…
School Sports Extra-Curriculars Family life Socially
On top of ALL that, they have little to no margin built into their schedules to slow down, relax and find room to celebrate all that God is and what he’s done in and through them.
So…I’ve invited Pastor Scott, who is a Biblical Counselor, and conveniently on staff here at LHC, to co-teach this series with me.
We anticipate this to be a great series full of information, but more importantly full of healing for many of your students.
Please don’t let the conversation live on only at church, please start it at home and be in an on-going dialogue with your students for this entire series.

My parents say I should open up and be more social, but I am afraid I will get my heart broken again. (from a past experience) What does God say in the Bible about opening your heart up?
