My 16 year old nephew David has Down Syndrome. He's one of the sharpest kids you'll ever meet. People think that having a child or family member with Down Syndrome is a burden. It's not, it's actually a blessing. People with Down Syndrome love everyone. They don't hate anyone, they don't troll, they help everyone they meet. They look at the world and see no wrong, only awesomeness.

David is not from The Woodlands, but was part of my Ironman Texas finish as well as a friend of mine. For the longest time, David had an imaginary friend named "Play With" which was a white plastic spoon. He only ate with a plastic spoon, so his friend was "Play With" vs "Eat With", get it?

During IMTX I had 3 spoons with me for each event. After, I had the finisher medal framed with one of the spoons and it now hangs in his home in New Orleans. The following year my friend Mick Long had one of the other 2 original spoons for his IMTX race.
