We tend to think as Christians that we don't have idols. Idols aren't just physical structures you can see. An idol is anything we worship above or instead Jesus. We are all idolators. It's a matter of which ones we have. Not if. The heart will always produce idols. And what are our sins below the surface in our hearts? This is where we find to the idols that produce the sins we are on the level. We must attack our sins at the root level, not the surface! Do we forsake God as the source of everything in our lives and seek not elsewhere? Nothing will deliver satisfaction and joy outside of Jesus. Do we take good things and make them "God things"? Jeremiah 17:9-10. Psalm 139:23-24. Romans 1:21-23, 25
There are 2 ordinances the local church should partake in:
the Lord's supper baptism.
When we partake of the Lord's, supper, it should be obediently. We should remove "self" from it. It is not for our benefit or gain, but to remember Jesus dying on the cross.
We ought not to be divided in the church among ourselves. Handle problems among each other one-on-one. This is God's way. We ought not to abuse the Lord's supper, such as using the Lord's supper to eat a full meal. This can cause division, too. How could we partake in the Lord's supper with issues in the church? How could we focus on the Lord's supper with sin in the church and in our lives, and focus solely on Christ? Anyone in division is in terrible danger. Get it right! Ask Christ to forgive you and partake in the Lord's supper and focus on and remembering, honoring, and being thankful for what Christ did for us with a clean conscious.
Churches are surrounded by people that need Christ, but sometimes we choose only to share it with people who come into our church building. Are we comfortable and forget that lost people are outside the church? We should be sharing the gospel with those around us everywhere! Never stop telling others about the hope and salvation of Jesus. Salvation cannot be found anywhere else but through Christ!
Jesus preaches a parable about these truths, and that some believers will yield no fruit. It is a parable about the human heart. Are we Christians that do nothing, or that strive to tell others about Jesus? Are we spreading the seed? We are to be SOS: sowers of seed. There's no problem with the seed. The problem is with the soil (human heart). However, the seed can't change the soil, but the word of God can.
Faith Promise Sunday @ The World Evangelism Missions Conference.
We are commanded to be ye thankful. What is a faith promise offering for missions? It is a plan from God to supply funds for world evangelism through the churches. People promise the amount on their heart through their church to give to God by faith above your regular offerings. It is not a get rich program for believers. It is a biblical form of faith giving. It is also a plan that proves the sincerity of our love for Jesus. What matters most besides our family? Where do we spend most of our money? Let us pray and give of ourselves what God puts on our hearts, for He and His kingdom is at the top of our priorities! We are so blessed to be SAVED!
These are biblical ----
Faith: Launching out into the deep with your nets out. Have you placed your faith alone in Jesus? Promise: To pay or do the sum or thing agreed to. Should be taken carefully, seriously to God. Do not slack or defer to pay it to God. It is sin not to make good of this. Offering: Biblical. Will a man rob God? How many Christians have robbed God of his money? The Bible clearly says we should give to God and He will bless us. Giving: God has given each of us something we can give back to Him to help reach lost souls, whether money or time or talent, to do of His good pleasure. See that we abound in this grace also. This is one of the basics of being a Christian.
Faith promise is that we make the promise and then DO IT. To know good and to do it not is to sin! In this instance, the promise is between you and God. It is more blessed to give than to receive.
Be in God's perfect will for your life (church, prayer, tithes, giving) Be in communion with God in finances. Pray about it. Don't be influenced by others. Understand the principles of finance in the Bible. 1 cor 8-9 Cut expenses and don't get in debt, for debt will prevent you from giving! God may choose to increase our income to give more, according to His will, and if we are faithful
"Never be afraid to entrust an unknown future to a known God."
There's nothing more worthless than worry. We all worry at some point in time about something. But we can be delivered from worry. Worry is caused by a lack of trust. It could be said worry is caused by focusing too much on the source of the worry and less on Jesus.
We all deal with anger. It's not just our outward display of anger that is the problem, but what is on the inside; what our mentality and mindset are inside. We tend to focus far too much on the outside, to the neglect of the inside: the heart. Our heart drives our entire lives and it is important to God. Do we give our anger over to God for Him to help us with it?
